How sad. After 15 years of gardening with Parkview, our experience was so bad today, we got home and decided we had just made our last visit. Alas. The comments of our helping 'tree expert' were so condescending, I worried maybe I should just stop existing all together, which is basically what we were told about our trees. "We have a birch." Cut off with a surly, "Its dead." "We painted the trunk like you said last spring." "Its dead." "We have this other tree." "Don't show me a picture, I cant tell you anything." The somewhat more helpful guy watering the plants let us know that we could come back later with clippings, that they were open 'till 5 or 7 or something. But future visits to Parkview are now just a thing of the past. read more

My favorite place ever to buy plants. Always superior quality, compared to big stores. Great prices. $2.99-3.99 for most plants and herbs. Customer service is exceptional, the guys are always so nice, even let my dog hangout inside the store to stay away from the heat. I would def recommend getting your plants here. Been coming hear for about 2 years and keep coming back here whenever I need some gardening supplies. What I like is that they have a small, but good amount of organic fertilizers, organic pesticides/insecticides, and organic soils. I want to get into home, urban gardening on a shady balcony for a mini-sustainability project I'm working on for school, so I looked up nurseries in the area and this was rated pretty high. At first I didn't like the customer service because two people passed me without saying anything, I couldve walked off the lot and they wouldve lost all the business I was planning on giving them to get my project off the ground. It took 20 minutes for someone to ask me if I needed help - actually, the minute I walked off from my boyfriend they approached him and didnt give me the time of day. So I was annoyed. But the guy was pretty knowledgeable about growing things in containers from seed and when to plant them to maximize their probability of growing - didnt even need to look at the package, just knew off the top of his head, so I trust them to steer me in the right direction for future projects. In the first week of February I planted some lettuce, broccoli, carrots, and bell peppers and theyre coming in nicely already thanks to his advice and worksheets he gave me. However I bought a dwarf orange tree that I didnt really like how it looked but bought it anyway, but I shouldnt have because now it looks even worse even though I fertilized AND gave it it's own light since he said "fruit trees need lots of light". They had a surprisingly low amount of good looking orange trees and the other trees that looked good were either too expensive (for a not very good looking dwarf orange tree I paid $40 and that was on the low end for their tree prices) or wouldve been too big for a balcony garden. Oh well, overall they set me up for a good beginning gardening experience. read more

I first started coming to this Parkview Nursery location last summer. The quality of service has been great every time I go there! I've asked the store clerks there a lot of questions about starting a cacti garden, questions about how to get rid of my foxtail problem and my citrus trees in my back yard. They are always happy to tell me what I ask about. It's why I keep going back! Like this Nursery everything is kept well watered and cut backed. I usually go here for my free tree from the City of Riverside very good selection, they can be high in prices, on other things then a Lowe's or Home Depot but you get the expertise of experience associates who know everything about plants. I bought succulents and they helped me pick them and gave me everything I needed to get started. I highly recommended Parkview Nursery they know their plants.And friendly employees. read more

Somewhat of a smaller selection at this location, but I try to buy from them when I can because of their knowledge. The CA native plants section is great but could use more variety and quantity. We have been shopping for plants here on and off for the past 20yrs. The last 3 yrs. we have almost exclusively shopped here after meeting Paul the "plant expert". He gave us advice on re landscaping a rental Wood Street house. He helped us find plants that went with the "older" neighborhood and architecture of the house. The Museum Palo Verde tree looks great! Today he helped me pick out a replacement Tea Rose (Full Sail) for Valentine's Day. He sounded like a chemist with all the instructions given. Yes, I payed $5 more than HD but his advise is worth more than that. If you want quality plants and most important expert advise from people like Paul, so you plants will last, this is where you should spend your landscape money. read more

First of all, this is one of the most over priced establishments in the City of Riverside,you can buy all the same products anywhere in the city. Speaking of their products, a great number are miss marked so when you think you have purchased a certain variety of plant you unhappily find out several months later you have been deceived. The staff, especially the skinny old man,knows very little about horticulture! They thrive on the home gardener that has very little knowledge of what is involved in sustaining a thriving, living environment at home. So they can tell you anything and you nod your head and say " sure why not". The last time I was in the area I stopped to buy a particular type of plant food only to find they were out, or did not carry it or whatever the old man told me.His comment was, " you know plants can't read don't you?" Just feed them any of this stuff!!!! Well if you know anything about biology I don't have to tell you how stupid this comment was,for those of you who think it's a great place and the staff is very knowledgeable I can tell you plants have very different needs. What 's great for one plant might kill another plant.Too much nitrogen will cause a fruit tree to put all of it energy into growth and little or none into fruit development. Too little acid and your Blueberries will not develop. Anyway I have already wasted more time on this place than it deserves, so all you week end gardeners keep wasting your money at Park view hopefully they'll hire someone who can tell the difference in the chemical composition of plant food or at least know that a difference exists.
