OMG. This is worst ever hospital ER I have ever been. My partner who is 84 years old and his ammonia level is 197 when he was sent to parkview whitley around 8:30 am. Once I got into the room, I told them that my partner was supposed to have an ultrsound this morning which means that he had fast done since midnight of yesterday. None of staff were friendly at all and after about 4.5 hours waiting, a nurse came and told me the tests all done. I understand that you can't give patient any water before tests done, after this, I reminded her again that my partner had not drank or eaten anything. She just told me that she had to wait for doctor's order. I said that was ok and I waited waited and waited. Around 2 pm, I went to ask again, then a nurse brought 2 small bottle waters. They told me that they were very busy, but everytime I passed the nurse station, at least 3 of them sitiing there chatting. finally doctor finally came and told me since my partner stayed there 2 weeks ago, they wanted him send back to the nursing home. I could not believe my ears. Ammonia level 197, you don't discharge the patient, no how old he/she is! he told me that there is nothing parkview can do to him. When I told them that I would like to transfer him to Lutheran hospital. or even take him home and look for other hospital. the nurse told me that she was more than happy to ask me to sign a discharge paper! She told me by law they had to call the hospital before they can send patients there. So she came and told me that Lutheran hospital assigned him a room. I asked her then why lutheran hospital can treat him, but parkview refused to treat him. she said that different doctors have different approach and opion. I knew what parkview opion. because she basically told me to find hospice to end his life comfortablely. the ER doctor and the nurse both told me that eventually he is going to die. I told them we are someday going to die. When waiting for ambulance, I asked the nurse if my partner should have some food to eat. she came in with a menu and told me to dial the number on the menu to order the food. I found the phone was not working in the room and went to a waiting room to dial the number 266181. after few minutes, the other end told me that she couldn't believe that the nurse who gave me the menu did not know that it had to be ordered by a nurse. I came to nurse station to tell her that and she said that she will order. when I turned around left, I heard a burst out of laughing and when I turned back, a male nurse using his low voice to let them know that I am here. I heard what they were laughing at and I went to ask them if what they feel to laught at people's suffering. obviously the nurse knew they were in trouble, she rushed to tell the manager that she tried to fake-slap someone ant that is why they were laughing.
also when my partner was taken there around 8:30 am and nobody checked anything. So around 2:30 pm, I acciently found out that he had been on the wet bed for at least 2 hours, and even the cover sheet was soaked by his pee. They told me that they will take care of it. I know it won't happen soon, so I took the piss-soaked cover off and began to take the pad off. then they came in and told me that they would take care it. they flipped my partner to one side and his arms, belly were squzee tightly against the metal bars of the bed and he was definitely in pain. I came to try to put my hand between the bars and told them he is not a piece of pork! This nurse is such an evil person that she even made up story that I wanted to pull the wire of heart monitor off. Why would I do that? this is not first, second, third time my partner was in ER and I knew to transfer him, something has to be look up to the machine. She did this so she can later tell her bosses how bad person I was. The manager came and tried to tell me that I am nasty, then I asked her how I was nasty, she told me that I was not happy with the nurses and I was asking questions. but she stopped when she realized that I have been using my cell phone.
Parkview has few good doctor and good nurses but not in the ER. They should not be allowed to work there. They should not be allowed to deal with human lives.
I told the nurse that someday she will be in the same postion like my partner and I hope she will be treated worse.
I will talk to their VP tomorrow and I want at least that nurse fired!
btw, my partner felt much better after being transferred to lutheran hospital and he is on his way to recovery. Please pray for him.
I seriously hope that those nurses can sit down and re-think what they did today. I don't doubt that one of them would come clean to point his/her finger to the nurse who is an evil! read more
