A disease that can easily be controlled if sprayed either in the fall after leaf drop or in the spring before leaf emergence. The tree, purchased several weeks earlier had fully leafed out when I purchased it and as it turned out without getting the requisite spray to control the disease. The disease was devastating, stunting the tree with over 50% leaf loss, and the remaining leaves yellowed and covered with holes. As an extra bonus, the new tree managed to infect two other trees that never before had the disease. I requested either a refund or a replacement and got neither, just the disgusting quote at the top of this comment. Any nursery that sells diseased and infectious plants has got to go. Tell your landscapers you do not want infected plants.

It was recommended to us that we go to Greenacres Nursery and in early spring. We did, selected a tree and they in a timely manner came out and planted it in our front yard. We babied the tree watering it regularly and despite our care, it went dormant very early and parts seem to die. A Greenacres representative came out, looked at the tree and true to their word, assisted us the following week to find a replacement at their nursery in Otis Orchards. I highly recommend this nursery to anyone who is interested in dealing with an organization that stands by their products and stands by their word.

That's why we always gave people a 90 day or one growing season guarantee at Ritters. They don't do that you buy something there. It's yours you just paid the price for something that's never gonna last possibly. If it were me, I would never purchase anything at Ritter's again. I spent $350 on a tree that was dead in 30 days but it's your money your choice.

There are a lot of big box stores selling plants, and there are a lot of indies selling plants but only during the growing season, and I've tried to hit them all this year. (I went to a place down on Perry I won't mention here except for comparison. That place was immaculate, and the salespeople were kind of frosty. I was never acknowledged or offered help. I left without buying anything, though I badly wanted to buy a rose plant they had.) (1) There's a map at the entrance(s) telling you where stuff is. There are also maps throughout so you don't get too lost. There are also helpful signs everywhere, telling you what stuff is, and what plants need. If you stop and read, you'll leave with far more knowledge about plants and gardening. (There was another indie nursery I visited that was way at the edge of town that had nothing marked. I mean, I know what a tomato plant looks like, but there was no indication what kind of tomato would grow from that plant. Annoying.) (2) This place is large, sort of maze-like and interesting. It would be easy to get lost here for a few hours. It's also fully staffed by mellow, intelligent and helpful staff people who seem to like their job and know what they're talking about. That was not my experience at any of the other indies, where people were cold and dismissive, or elitist, or didn't know much about anything or couldn't wait for these pesky customers to stop bothering them. (3) The music playing inside the nursery was actually pretty cool. I heard Sinatra, Billie Holliday, several WWII-era compositions, some old-school musical numbers (pre-Andrew Lloyd Webber, which was awesome), and some opera. That place on Perry was playing Lite Rock - the kind that makes you want to gouge out your ear drums. (4) Did I mention the plant selection and the prices? Uh, yeah. They had everything I had on my wish list, and some stuff I didn't know I wanted. Fruits, vegetables, every possible kind of flower, landscaping choices, trees, succulents, and some other stuff I can't categorize. I walked out of there for less than $20 with a big box of stuff, and kind of felt bad that I didn't buy more. Yes, big box stores are cheaper, and they have those guaranties (replacing a plant that dies), but these plants were far healthier and more responsibly sourced. My big box squash is dead, and the strawberry I got at another nursery is being a drama queen, but all the plants I got here are healthy, thriving, growing. They also stock plants from Monrovia, which I remember being THE expensive/trendy plants of choice in expensive/trendy Bay Area gardens. That's right - people had "designer" plants in their yards. I know. It made me roll my eyes, too. I went on a bland and overcast weekday, so I have no idea how crazy-crowded it gets on the weekends. Still worth it.

Really, really poor service. We were working with Brooke and had around $2k of plants in carts for…read morepurchase when she waved to someone, said, "I have an appointment.", and literally walked away. We pulled our carts to the front ourselves and asked the checkout shack staff for help. The clueless blonde said she didn't know what was going on either and did not offer help. We sat there in the sun until Brooke sauntered back, we got a couple more things and checked out for $2,600+. We got a $0.20 rebate through their Rewards program. Yes, a twenty cents for $2,600+ purchase. They wouldn't even give us free delivery, so that was an extra $200. Fast forward to $200 delivery, which amounted to wind-shorn plants in the back of a pickup truck. The trunks of two $300 trees were bouncing off the tailgate where they had fallen over. One tree was near death, with the entire top covered in crunchy dead leaves, browned branches and leaves severly eaten by insects. We refused the one tree and returned to Barn and Blossom to pick out a different tree, until we were told we had to pay another $200 delivery fee. NO, WE WON'T PAY FOR THE DELIVERY TO REPLACE THE NEARLY DEAD TREE YOU TRIED TO DUMP ON US. After, $2,800+, I would have expected a basic level of courtesy the first time we were there, at least the second time, but no. There is zero service and if I could give negative stars, I would. We have alot more yard to landscape and it won't be through Barn and Blossom. The response from Barn and Blossom's owner was, "We are glad you won't be coming back as you are not welcome." Such poor service, even from the owner...now they created a Disney level fantasy novella below about how great they are.

Summit Sprouts's owner is passionate about your garden success. This is one of those places where supporting your local business is a win for you!
