I love ParkGrounds. I'm here at least 3 times a week. I try to be considerate of others and pick up after my dogs every time. And I make sure to buy something whenever I go, which about once a week includes buying a meal. So I don't really get why the owner makes snide comments about me not buying anything and running the business into the ground as well as not picking up after my dogs... Everything about this place is great except for the occasional bad attitude from the owner. I think ParkGrounds is a great concept, and I am totally willing to pay $3 for a black coffee and $3 for a sometimes mediocre muffin in order to support the business. However, if I'm accused of running someone's business into the ground every time I forgo the muffin, then I don't think that I'm the problem. The real lesson to be learned is: be nice to your customers! No one wants to go to a place where they don't feel welcome. read more

Park Grounds is a dream come true for my dogs and me. I can drink lots of good coffee and they can sniff and mark and chase the ball to their heart's content. Plus, they serve tasty homemade cupcakes and Hank's ice cream and cereal. We go there a few times a week since it's within walking distance and have never encountered a rotten person or aggressive dog (unlike some of the larger public dog parks). read more

My experience here was not good. There were two male dogs in the park that were not fixed and would not stop harassing (latching on and humping) my puppy. The sign outside states clearly that all dogs must be fixed. I went inside to tell the barista what was occurring and she asked me if I was able to locate the owners of the harassing dogs. It appeared they were not on the premises. Is okay to just drop off your dog and leave? I guess the idea is great, but I was bullied off the property. read more

Insanely chill (with exception of a few dog-owning patrons, though that's hardly ParkGrounds' fault), often busy with dogs, great coffee, offbeat events, etc. I agree with Erin that the ground could stand a little more mulch on the ground, but it's kind of a nitpicking point all things considered. One of my favorite places in town to relax with my pup! I found this place a while back when it was owned by a different group of people. Since the new owners have taken over the coffee shop/dog park have taken a turn for the best. The staff is really nice and always remember me even if I don't come in for a few weeks. When the owners are their they always check on the customers and are very friendly and chatty. The coffee and food are super tasty. And best of all! Its a cute cozy place to get a great cup of coffee and let your dog get some energy out and hang out with some other great pups in town. read more

After free riding on the Yelp system for far too long I decided to write my first review about one of my favorite places in Atlanta. First of all, the idea of a dog park/coffee shop is genius. While our dog runs her wild puppy heart out, my husband and I get to drink really good coffee. From the quick cup to the espresso drinks everything is a huge step up from Starbucks' over roasted coffee. Other positives are the baristas who remember your order after a few visits, the free wifi and the great cupcakes. The interior of Park Grounds is chill and comfortable. I appreciate that there is always different genres of music playing instead of some prefab coffee shop mix. Most dogs that come to Park Grounds come often and are well socialized unlike Piedmont Park's dog park. read more

Go here all the time. Great concept, extremely awesome staff and owner, nice spot for the dogs without the pretentiousness that you sometimes get at Piedmont Park. The food is good, not great, but good enough. I dig the breakfast sandwiches the most. I typically just go and plop my ass in a chair and drink beer, though. I've been known to spend 5 hours on a nice day during the weekend here. Love it. Hungover and don't want to walk your dog, come to Park Grounds and get a pitcher of mimosas and sit in the sun while your dog has the best time of their life. For those bitching about the cleanliness of the actual dog park, please get over it. Are you even a dog person? Dog's are filthy animals, awesome filthy animals, but filthy none the less. I see the staff picking up poop all the time. My dog certainly doesn't mind. If it bothers you, sit on the patio, I promise your dog doesn't care. The patio is clean, and so is the interior of the buliding. The patrons that go here are about 85% awesome. I have run into some people that just don't get the concept of dogs playing. Yes, I have a 60 pound puppy, he plays rough, but he's not mean. Sorry, sometimes he humps. When he humps, I tell him no, but there's only so much I'm going to do. He's a dog. It's a dog park. Let your dogs play. I keep an eye on him, and he's not aggressive. Again, these folks are rare here, and most of the people that go here are great people and outstanding dog owners. As a dog owner I LOVED the idea but I was very disappointed when I made my first visit to Park Grounds. The employee working at the time was far from pleasant. When I looked around my appearance definitely stood out in comparison to all the other customers but I was quite taken aback when he gave me the impression that I wasn't welcome in his coffee shop. I definitely felt stereotyped for not having large holes in my ears and converse shoes on my feet! The dog yard is by no means astatically pleasing. Walking in you see a fence overgrown by weeds and full of holes blocked by bricks and posts, a yard of dirt and rock with rather large holes dug everywhere and pet waste strewn about that appeared as though it had been there for days, possibly weeks. Yes, every pet owner should be responsible for cleaning up after their pet but we all know that doesn't happen. The owner/management should have taken some responsibility for cleaning up the yard. There are after all companies who can be hired for things like that. If that isn't enough, there was broken glass everywhere! I left immediately after noticing this because I was concerned my dog's paws would get cut and he would be exposed to diseases potentially festering in the un-kept yard. My dog and I definitely won't be going back! In my opinion you are better off going through the McDonalds drive thru and taking your dog to Piedmont park. As a dog owner I am always looking for places to take my little (90lb) man. If new owners were to take over and fix this place up, please let me know. . . I would love to come check it out! This is no punk sandwich...it's a good sized breakfast sandwich perfectly toasted in a sandwich press & has thick-sliced ham, 2 scrambled eggs, fresh sliced tomato with melted cheddar-jack cheese w/ the great light buffalo-mayo & again , toasted to perfection. I went with a friend for the first time today because the concept of a dogpark cafe was intruiging--and much needed in Atlanta! The dog park was a fenced-in outdoor patio. It was small and muddy, not unexpected from recent rains, and did not deter from my dog's enjoyment. However, I was really dissapointed by the food and service. I ordered a "locally sourced" avocado and turkey wrap with a side of chips ($6) at the counter, and the wait staff informed me that they will be bring out the food to me on the patio/dog park. The avocado was a runny green sauce and the turkey tasted like grocery store cold cuts--very difficult to believe that it was locally made. Chips were just regular poly-saturated potatoe chips. I noted that all other customers had their food and drinks delivered to their tables. However, when I heard the wait staff call my name, I was instructed me to come get the food myself. Maybe the 20% tip that gave in support of local businesses wasn't enough, or as the only Asian person there that day, I can't help but wonder that it was "my kind" that they were not interested in serving. This is an okay dog park but you have to order something to be there. Unless my skin color changes or I develop a taste for mediocre food, I will NOT be returning here. read more

I have been going to PG for as long as it has been open. Lately though, the service is top notch, the food plentiful and the coffee, great. I find it a friendly place to have breakfast on my day off whilst I play on my computer. I would take my dog if I knew he would behave, but I have a pooch who is annoying and rude and he likes to embarass me in any way he can.... He doesn't play well with others and consequently cannot go to PG... His loss. The new management has improved the conditions and the food greatly... I spend a pretty penny in the shop on a weekly basis. The Holeman and Finch pastries and the awesome coffee are an easy breakfast to eat on the way to work. The homemade granola and greek yogurt with berries is my fave for eating in.... You simply cannot go wrong here.... I swear! read more

Chill in the dog park, do your work on the patio under the fans and keep an eye on fido as he runs himself ragged with the other dogs! 3. Really wonderful concept! Unfortunately during our visit the weather was less than ideal, so we had to contend with a pretty soggy dog park. The good news is that even though it was very wet, there wasn't much mud. We planned on only having coffee, but were pleasantly surprised to see vegan food on the menu. Yay! The vegan pancakes were definitely different than the fluffy ones I make at home, but really tasty in their own right. One downside is they were advertised as coming with berries, but instead came out with 2 orange slices (??). I also tried the breakfast bowl, which was certainly nothing fancy but still very good and satisfying. I enjoyed watching dogs explore and play. I definitely look forward to visiting again. I'm deducting a star because I don't think the owner's responses to critical reviews below are very professional. If you can't reply without sarcastic undertones, then don't reply at all. From their delicious menu to their ingenious outdoor sign showing witty specials everything about this place made me want to patron it. My dogs can play with other dogs while I enjoy a cocktail, coffee or vintage coke cola. The indoor eating area is always warm and quiet, a perfect setting for work or study. The outside patio is filled with a diverse group of coffee lovers, readers, and regulars. While the dog park itself is just a small draw for most I absolutely love it. So much so that I bought a home nearby so my commute to Park grounds would be shorter. I can't imagine anyone who loves, their dog, coffee, free wifi or good food not loving this place. The best dog park in Atlanta. Yes it is small but how can you best a place that has free wifi, entertains your dog and has coffee, food and alcoholic beverages? I am so glad I found park grounds and I love going here on weekends. During the week it can be a little dead but on weekend it is really busy. In case you can't tell from other reviews and the description, this is a cafe/bar combined with a dog park. I've eaten the food, had the coffee, and had beer and mixed drinks here. I'd say they do it all pretty well in a no-frills kind of way. "Local flavor" is an accurate description, as it fits really well in Reynoldstown. The interior has a traditional coffee shop arrangement of little tables with uncomfortable chairs alongside the cluster of sofas surrounding a coffee table. WiFi is provided, and most seats can reach an outlet. The covered patio (outside the dog park) has a decent amount of additional seating. They have some board games (inc. a Mental Floss trivia game), magazines, and books. There's a smallish projector, but I'm not sure what they use it for. Cafe: Local Counter Culture Coffee is served, along with Two Leaves and a Bud tea. Prices are fairly inexpensive for the area ($2.29 for a large coffee). I've eaten various things including a grilled pimento cheese sandwich (no longer appears to be on the menu), house salad, and the breakfast burrito. All were very simple and inexpensive - shows you can charge just $6 for a sandwich with chips if it doesn't come on an oversized plate with a guacamole smear and house-made chipotle aioli. Also, there are multiple vegan options. Park: If some other reviews make you concerned about the conditions of the dog park, I would just reiterate what I said earlier: it is no-frills. You're in Reynoldstown, not Midtown. The "park" is basically a large dirt yard with tables and chairs and a couple of dog-related things scattered around (e.g. a fire hydrant and water bowls). Also, especially on the weekend, *lots* of dogs, mainly medium to large ones. Dogs typically need to be comfortable with a little rough play. Owners are often friendly, usually polite. You can bring your food and drinks out into the dog park if you like. Bar: Moderate selection of wine, craft and "cheap hipster" (e.g. PBR) beer, and simple mixed drinks. I've had some pretty strong screwdrivers here. This place isn't for everyone - but in my experience, if you like it at all, you love it. Okay, so this place is basically heaven on earth. I couldn't quite believe the reviews, but it turns out it really is both a dog park and a coffee shop. Amazing!!!!! They have three areas: indoor seating with no dogs allowed, an outdoor seating area where you can watch the dogs, and a big outdoor seating area with tables and lots of sweet dogs walking around off leash. They have great coffee and pastries too. It is basically the perfect environment for working; I wish there were more places like this around the country. Seriously: heaven on earth!!! read more

We were coming from Oxford, Ms going back home to Charleston, Sc. We needed a place to eat but of course it had to be pet friendly. When we found this place, it was the best spot ever. We needed to stretch out legs but this place allowed our dog to stretch hers too! We liked that there were tables to sit at in the middle of the park as well as on a patio. Cute indoor area with a couch. When making trips through Atlanta, we will definitely be stopping here! read more

I don't know where I would be without this place! My dog and I are here several times a week, and we love it. Bagel sandwiches are to die for. The coffee is consistently fresh and yummy. The beer selection is wonderful, and there's always something new to try. The staff is amazing, especially Sierra, Mary, and Patton. I enjoy spending a lot of my time at ParkGrounds and my dogs like it too. The food and drinks are great and the employees are friendly. So why three stars? ParkGrounds fails to regulate aggressive dogs that people bring in. It's disappointing that I no longer feel safe bringing my dogs there and I've been a regular for a very long time. My greyhound was attacked a couple of days ago in which blood was shed. I understand dog fights break out, but my hound wanted nothing to do with it. I decided to give it another try today and sure enough, I witnessed the same dog attack two other dogs. If your dog is so high energy that it knocks over tables and attacks other dogs, you should go elsewhere. I recommend the large dog area at Piedmont Park. read more

I used to come here a few years back on a regular basis... Food and drinks were always good... Customer service was hit or miss with some edgy grouchy people behind the counter. I've started to come back now that I have a dog, and, while the food is still good, the customer service is still hit or miss, as well as what seems to be a higher percentage of people with poor social skills letting aggressive dogs run around (More so than some dog parks around the city, which I visit daily).... it seems like every time I come here, there is someone with an overly aggressive dog who either ignores it or becomes really annoying trying to control it, without much success. I just left here for what will probably be the last time after another experience with a customer whose dog, "Sugar," went through its rounds again, going after everyone's dog while the customer kept getting up and "Intervening" by repeatedly "explaining" to her dog in long, complex sentences why it needs to behave. This went on for a while with no intervention from any staff and obviously the awkwardness of people looking and wondering if something should be said. "Sugar" finally started going after my dog, and the customer kept going around my table trying to get her dog to listen to her and get off mine. I just got up and left with my dog... Only to watch the customer continue with the same routine around the yard while I loaded my dog up into my car and left. read more
