Cute hidden coffee shop in Capitol View. I was unsure if I was at the right location when I initially got there since I was directed by maps to go into an apartment complex. There's luckily a sign that helps direct you to them behind the building. When you get inside the lighting and tall windows create a nice atmosphere. The art around the space is for sale which is nice that the business is supporting other businesses. The only downside is that my order took quite a bit; I ordered one specialty latte. They didn't have any more of one of their signature pastries which was a little disappointing. Overall the service members were nice but if you want to grab a quick coffee this is not the place. read more

Walked in expecting fabulous coffee and tea but was left a bit disappointed. I tried the avacado toast it was okay I wish the acacado was fresh fresh like just cut up and smashed fresh. The coffee cake muffin was nice and warm. The golden milk hot was subpar. The lavender coffee was subpar. Everything comes from a concentrated already made commercial box just add your choice of milk and wallah you have an overly priced coffee. read more

Got a little lost coming in but the office gave me directions. Either way WOW! What a gem?! Met the owner, Mia, she was super sweet and attentive to her business and many customers. I explained I used my ClassPass to purchase. She said she asked them to update a few things but it's suck a great and cool idea I can use this on food and drinks. Had a lovely Marleaux, My Love latte which she asked me and allows me to get it iced. They have milk alternatives so I got oat milk. The ClassPass menu is limited but again such a great spot! Will come back again. Food wise: I ordered the chicken pesto situation and sun-dried tomatoes it was warm, gooey and so good. Not over filling but did the job to fill you up. read more

*First Timer** I happen to find this place while I was walking on the beltline with my dog. What a wonderful shop. Great menu choices nostalgic of black culture and excellent care about me. I had the grilled cheese sandwich, but I also saw the chicken pesto, which I'll try next time. It's well supported with apartments nearby but not too super busy. So I rarely drink coffee but I love coffee shops. Black Coffee is one of the nicest shops in terms of esthetics. A great small working spots if you want coffee and an art gallery. My new fav drink is the peach smoothie. Simple, right? Wrong. This thing was delicious beyond my expectation. I knew I would be disappointed once I'd finished. Hidden gem in the middle of an apartment Community right off the beltline offering a variety of specialty coffee and teas. Light snacks. A nice meeting location, could use a few more cushy seats as the seating is not as comfortable to settle in and do work but for a chat and quick unwind it is a great place. Good service and good conversation. If you sit at the bar as the host is friendly and welcoming. The vibrant black walls, boast local artwork which I found to be reasonably priced as well as complex and beautiful. This will become a fav pit stop as you walk the Beltline. read more

A cute and cozy spot on the beltline. Definitely a cool place to check out when you're walking along the West End Beltline and need a little "pick me up." I got the brown sugar baby and it was delicious. A good blend between sweet and flavorful. My partner got the drip coffee and thought it was nothing special and overpriced - you can get better elsewhere for less. I think their specialty flavored drinks are better than their regular coffee without the add-ins. It is small but has a good amount of seating for you to enjoy your drink with others. read more

It was a lavender and chill kind of morning, so that's exactly what I ordered during my Friday visit to Black Coffee. It wasn't too packed, and I was happy to see that parking was free for two hours. I grabbed a seat at the community table and tried to get some work done. Both TVs were on, so I was a little distracted, but catching a glimpse of The Bernie Mac Show wasn't the worst thing. The staff was super friendly and the music was definitely a vibe. I enjoyed the scenery and the overall energy of the space. This is definitely going on my list of shops to return to. read more

Really liked the set up of this place. Nice work space for remote workers and lovely coffee smells. It's adjacent to The Vivian Apartments so you can go through their lobby during business hours to access it. They have a pretty great selection of coffee, tea, lattes, and pastries. They also have some sandwiches and other light bites. My favorite is the Art work all around the space. It's honestly a mini art gallery infused coffee shop. Big fan of that. More than enough space to come with friends or for a casual business meeting. They have bar seating as well. read more

Atlanta continues to reveal itself to me in the most random of ways. We are still finding our way in this city, 2 years later. After dropping my son off for a round of golf at nearby John A White, i searched for Coffee. It was later in the day, and my go to "Portrait" was already closed. I was pleasantly surprised something was available "10 mins away". The location is tucked away in the quaint Vivian Apartments complex. Please see the scan code to register for the free parking. The interior decor is such a welcoming vibe with all of the featured art and good music playing(respectful level). Service was neither rude nor friendly, just pretty much a person working their shift. Note: coffee after tip, was $12, i was pretty shocked at the cocktail pricing. read more

Decided to try this coffee shop while on the westside beltline. I ordered the Marleaux, my love and it was 10/10. The espresso is rich and strong and the overall flavor was great. My friend got the Pretty in Pink matcha latte and it was a solid 8. It wasn't mixed well so the strawberry was overpowering at points. In terms of ambience, it's a cute space with plenty of seating to work. The prices here are also great and I'm excited to try other items! The one downside is that my drink took like 15 minutes-- they only have one barista working in here. Please get her some help so that people aren't waiting this long for a drink. read more

Was excited to visit this coffee shop today. Sadly, I experienced the following: 1.Rude baristas (e.g., no "hello, welcome", annoyance at my questions regarding the shop) 2. More focus on their friends at the counter than our transaction -- attention to me as a paying customer 3. Texting while making my drink (which resulted in number 4) 4. Terrible quality drink. This was my second time at Black Coffee because I wanted to give it another chance. I stopped with my mom and her friend and we ordered a lemonade and a hazelnut coffee with oat milk. We waited for half an hour for these 2 drinks. The total was $14. The lemonade was tasty and the latte was subpar. There are no prices listed anywhere; I understand scanning a QR code but not offerings listed on a wall or anywhere is odd. The place is well decorated and Black owned, however the prices of the items do not match the quality they are providing. It makes me so sad! This feels like a missed opportunity to provide good coffee from friendly well-trained staff at a reasonable price point. I recommend folks go to Cafexito or Portrait for BIPOC owned shops with good coffee at reasonable prices. There's also Peoplestown coffee and Little Tart that have delicious offerings and well-trained staff. Maybe the owners will take this feedback to heart and change some things to really make this spot thrive in the neighborhood. We'll see! read more

Love Love Love this place!! It's located inside of the Vivian apartments and they offer free 2 hour parking. Their menu is filled with delicious hot and cold beverages named after Tupac songs. The pastries and sandwiches are always fresh, my favorite is the lemon muffin. Great place to kickback and get some work done. Only concern is the music sometimes is a little loud and filled with too much bass to make client phone calls or zooms. Oh and the service is always on point with a smile! read more

Our visit went from inauspicious to dreadful. You know you're in for disappointment when the barista asks "what size" you want your cappuccino -- an error so egregious I'd never heard it outside a Starbucks. No one who asks this question should ever be trusted or allowed to pull a shot. The barista's ignorance and unfamiliarity with the coffee industry were made further manifest when he began flipping through a three-ring binder to find the instructions to make the drinks we ordered, all of which were standard, traditional espresso beverages. With great discomfort, we watched the barista stumble through the steps like a novice blundering through a bog in a mist, occasionally craning his neck to the side so he could read along while he operated the machinery. By the end of the transaction, we received some of the worst espresso we've ever had the misfortune of tasting -- a weak, foul amalgam equal parts sour, watery, and burnt. However, terrible coffee has a role in society, and these ghastly drinks would be forgivable if they had been super cheap. Alas, they were by far the most expensive coffees I've ever purchased in my life. We hold no ill will toward the barista. Everyone has to start somewhere to learn a trade, and it's our hope that -- with time and practice (if he wants to continue with coffee) -- he will become an excellent barista. However, we can neither believe nor abide the fact that the shop left him in charge of the coffee all by himself. Yes, please teach him and let him learn, but make sure the people paying you cocktail prices for their espresso get a good pull. We are more than happy to pay good money for excellent coffee, but this ain't it. I cannot imagine ever returning here. read more

I had my first experience here today, and it was great! I felt welcomed as soon as I came through the door. Trae' made the best blueberry lavender matcha. She was also super helpful with any questions. Definitely recommend checking out the business just be aware if you want to stay beyond a couple hours, you have to pay for parking. I happened to stumble upon this place after checking out the Vivian apartments next door, and I'm so glad I did. I got a matcha latte with lavender, vanilla, and soy milk, and it was honestly a 10 out of 10. Hands down the best matcha I've had in Atlanta.The service was just as great. I think the drinks have potential. They are a bit diluted, or better yet milky. I think the sphere ice is aesthetically pleasing, but the drinks are always lukewarm, and milky. It's more of a craft coffee shop so I don't expect the drinks to be overly sweet, but I think the ratio to ice, milk, and flavor could be better for the late drinkers. Guys I ordered a traditional macchiato which is just an espresso shot with foam scooped on top. Anywhere else in the city, most i pay is $5 WITH tip. It was $7.14 here, WITHOUT tip. I just let it go cuz i thought hey maybe it'll be life changing. The most burnt espresso ever. I live in the building and i will be driving anywhere else than here. It's comical how much i just overpaid for one of the worst coffees I've ever had Save the drive, and go to Portait Coffee, a mile up the road, or Cafexito, also less than a mile away. read more

This place was beautifully placed on the belt line and had a gorgeous ambiance. However, this can't make up for the poor service that was given. When I walked up to the cash register, I had to be the one to exchange pleasantries and say good morning as the cashier just stared at me. The lady making the drinks was also rude and had no customer service. Her energy completely threw me off, not to mention she just slid me my drink without a word. You'll also be paying a hefty price for a drink that's 80% ice and charged a not-so-deserved gratuity fee. read more

I'm hoping the downtown location offers a better experience because my visit to the Westside location was disappointing. The staff was noticeably unprofessional. They forgot to take my name for the order and were generally dismissive. I ordered one of the exclusive drinks, the Breanna Woods Cinnamon Chai, and it was underwhelming. It lacked sweetener, and no one mentioned that it needed to be added manually. The flavor was weak and flat. Honestly, it was one of the worst dirty chais I've had in Atlanta. Gratuity was also automatically added to the bill. I expected higher prices since this is a Midtown café, but the cost did not match the quality of the drink or the service. The only positive aspect was the beautiful ambiance. The space is well designed, but unfortunately, the overall experience did not match the setting. read more
