    Fish and chips

I usually don't like to make bad recommendations on small businesses but I would make an exception on this one. Why would anyone recommend this place beats me. The fish served was not even seasoned with the minimum seasoning of salt and pepper neither was the dusting flour used to fry the fish. Obviously the oil was not hot enough the fries was soggy overdone and disgusting. Since it was a takeaway you couldn't see what was in the bag. When opened the fish covered over the soggy fries it was just repulsive. This is a basic order how could one get it so messed up!

    Shrimp Lunch Special (5 Shrimp)

First and foremost: Support small black owned business! Lets continue: I've eaten at this location at least 5 times to say PLEASE GIVE MORE FOOD. Yes seafood is expensive but the portion sizes are for children. The "lunch" special is their already small portioned meals made into a joke. I am a grown adult with a normal appetite and this is really unacceptable. The fries are made fresh but I truly would rather some frozen ones because they are always soggy and soaked in oil. If you want sauce for your kids shrimp meal its 2.00 EXTRA! You already give 5 shrimps now you have to charge for extra tartar sauce?! THE GOOD: Fried perfectly and made with fresh fish. The bad outweighs too much to actually consider eating here again - but the cakes always look so delicious and everytime I've ordered I have seen people rave about their cakes. If you're in the area and you are hungry - do not go here. If you have time to spare in the area and you want a seafood option - be my guest. Im also starving after eating my shrimp lunch special and writing this 45 minutes after my meal. OVERALL: A SOLID 3 BUT THE 2 IS FOR THE PORTIONS & WAIT TIME FOOD: 4 PORTION: 2 PRICE: 2 SERVICE: 3

The food is good however the service is through a window. I thought you could go inside and order your food. And they only take cash.

I go all out when I come here becuase it's fast seafood at it's best, steamed, raw or fried. You order at the counter for things you want, so plan your order with friends so you can get what you want all at once. Send one to get the fried's, one to get the steamed, raw, etc. It looks like any seasonal shack on the eastern seaboard, but just a tad busier and a tad nicer. Service is good becuase it's far enough away from the NYC grind that people aint tryna bring that vibe. They're trying to have a different experience. It's got great views. Cash only of course. Seating is cafeteria style. I usually have to go for a walk afterwards to help digest everything. Prices are high if you indulge or come with your whole family, but it's kinda in line if your tryna splurge and go big. My usual order is steamed snow crab legs, fried calamari, fried clam strips, steamed cherry's and little necks (or raw if it's daytime or late summer) and a steamed whole snapper if I'm with more than 1 person. It's a feast, but worth a gout attack. It's fresh seafood that's well prepared and simple. You can't go wrong on the cocktail sauces, butter, lemon on most items.

There were like five other customers placing orders. However from time of placing order and receiving food was not even a good 10 minutes. Staff was quick and friendly. I had the surf and turf box. 3 pieces of fried fish, 3 chicken tenders, 3 jumbo shrimp with fries. That was $20. I also had a slice of pineapple upside down cake. The fish was very nice sized portions. The chicken tenders where a little skimpy. The looked like when your mother say we have chicken tenders at home. BUT to make up for the skimpiness they tasted like your mother made them at home. The shrimp were a nice size. The cake take like a well made box cake. By no means am I complaining. I enjoyed the food. The box I got was big and shareable. It easily feeds 2 people. The food was hot and made in clean oil. I certainly will be going back. But next time I simply want the school street sandwich. I would say if you will not be eating immediately in your car or live extremely close by you need to open your bag and crack open the box if not you risk your food being soggy.

Nothing that knocked me off my feet but solid enough for what they are. The french fries were exactly what you would expect. Potatoes are potatoes and it is genuinely hard to go wrong there. Now the fish, which is really the entire point of visiting a place called Fish and Chips, was unfortunately a letdown. Zero flavor. Completely bland from start to finish. There are several sauces included and I suppose if you enjoy building all of your flavor through dipping that approach could work for you, but personally I would much rather the fish itself show up with something to say. The surprise standout of the whole meal were the dirty potatoes. Those were loaded up nicely and genuinely delivered. I would order those again without any hesitation. But the fish is what I came for and the fish is where Gordon Ramsay Fish and Chips fell short. Given the name attached to this concept, the expectations walking in are naturally going to be elevated. Unfortunately the fish did not come close to meeting them. For a restaurant built entirely around fish and chips as its signature offering, the main attraction needs to bring a lot more to the plate than this.

They were really hot when they arrived so they were freshly fried. Batter has a nice crispy texture. The sauces were okay. I got the Gordon Tar Tar and the Dijon Mayonnaise and they didn't really stand out with the flavors. Honestly, I couldn't taste much of a difference between the two. Food came out pretty fast which makes this a convenient stop to eat at before or after watching a show.

When inside it's just a counter for take out and there is a restaurant further in. I went to the counter and ordered the crab legs, Henny mac & cheese, and calamari. The total came to about $80, which felt steep for takeout. The crab legs were good in flavor, but the meat was really hard to get out, every time I cracked one, the meat broke apart inside, so I spent most of the meal digging. The seasoning was great though, and the corn and potatoes soaked it up nicely. The Henny mac was a big miss for me. It had almost no flavor, and whatever flavor was there definitely wasn't Hennessy. Really disappointing. The calamari was also dry and bland. Honestly, the food looked way better than it tasted, and I'm not sure if it was just an off day, but neither side hit. I also don't understand why dining-in prices are higher than takeout. I would've preferred to eat inside, but it didn't make sense to pay more. The prices to eat inside are higher than to order at the counter which I've never seen or heard of doing that before. And since there's nowhere set up outside to eat takeout, unless you live nearby or want to pay extra to sit inside, I'm not sure what the point is. Overall, the experience didn't match the hype for me. Hoping it was just an off day, but I wasn't impressed.
