Today my family and I went river rafting. The ride was very tame and relaxing. There were a few rapids but mostly a smooth ride. There were LOTS of bugs that flew on me. They don't bite but they are very annoying. Our guide Cally was very nice!!!!

We had a so much fun rafting down the Weber River today! Our guide Callie was great! ( she's in the blurry shot behind us). These aren't crazy rapids, this is just a fun way to spend a few hours.

Awesometacular!!! Our guide, Zach, was great!

Good guide, but we paid for a two-hour tour that lasted only about a total of 60 minutes, including loading and unloading.

This…read moreorganization has top-notch staff in the office and warehouse, to the van drivers, to the guides (Larkin, Rocky, Emma, Travis, Sherpa). Our experience was amazing - an incredible river and geology, sandy beach campsites, delicious and plentiful freshly prepared food, interesting and skilled guides navigating the river and its rapids, two side hikes to unique locations... We spent time in the oar rafts and in the inflatable kayak "duckies" on the river, and spent time at camp swimming, talking, eating. playing bocce and volleyball, and stargazing under a new moon with another guide (Tom) who brought a telescope and told us stories of the constellations as he showed us how to find them and brought up other unique views on the telescope. Of course, this is an off-the-grid experience so there were no distractions from cell phones (no signal), we slept in tents, and we all had to use a box toilet to be packed out by the guides each morning as we got back in the rafts. Maybe that's not something everybody's comfortable with, but it's an amazing trip in an awe-inspiring location.

My husband and I just returned from a fantastic 8 day motorized raft trip down the Colorado River…read more(Lee's Ferry to Whitmore Wash) in the Grand Canyon, guided by an outstanding team from CRATE. If you have the opportunity to book a trip with CRATE, don't hesitate! Pulling off these trips requires intense knowledge, skill, and coordination, and in all of these ways, CRATE delivered. Good equipment, hearty, plentiful food (and snacks!) and a crew who thoroughly understood the historical, natural, and geological aspects of where we were. This interpretation, intertwined with great river stories, really brought the Canyon to life.

Having very recently returned from an eight-day motorized rafting and hiking trip through the Grand…read moreCanyon with Colorado River and Trail Expeditions (CRATE), I can recommend them for your Grand Canyon adventure without hesitation or qualification. The boatsmen, Walker and Abel, and their capable assistants Pheobe and Matt, guided us with consummate expertise through the many thrilling rapids and on daily hikes of varying lengths, and their knowledge of the local history, geology, archaeology, flora, and fauna, freely shared with us all, was admirable. The food was delicious and plentiful - even for this hardcore vegetarian - and CRATE seamlessly provided for all the logistics, including the rafting and hiking, our helicopter transport from the depths of the canyon, and the flight back toward Las Vegas on smaller prop planes. All in all, CRATE provided an extraordinary experience through a truly extraordinary landscape. A few caveats: this trip does require some physical exertion, as one was expected to help pack and unpack the rafts, as well as set up one's camps (which, in fact, was a great part of the fun and group-experience). Having said that, one of our trip members suffered some unexpected moderate physical limitations throughout the trip, and the crew capably and compassionately assisted him and guided him, without detracting their attentions from the rest of the group. Also, some of the hikes were more rigorous and offered more exposure than necessarily advertised by the crew; however, it was easy enough to avoid any hikes, or portions of hikes, that one felt was beyond one's capacity. All in all, one of the most memorable, awe-inspiring, and eye- and mind-opening trips I've done in my seven decades!

This month I joined Western River Expeditions with seven of my friends for a three day experience…read morerafting/camping along the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. Absolutely the adventure of a lifetime. Magnificent views, exciting rapids, great food and guides. At first I was apprehensive - the adventure isn't cheap - but when you consider everything the trip includes - bus rides, helicopter rides, small airplane rides, the river trip, the food - honestly I don't know how this company makes any money. Guides were kind, knowledgable and clearly put safety first - both for our benefit and the benefit of the environment and ecosystem around us. The meals were fresh, plentiful - home made "cowboy style" in an outdoor kitchen. We learned about the geologic history of the Grand Canyon as well as some fun tales about early settlers in the area. The company is very upfront about the physical requirements for the trip and I think the videos they post for the trip itself and photographic tips are honest and accurate. Our trip consisted of 28 people - two rafts with 14 people each. You never felt crowded and in our three days I never saw another raft or tour company, it felt like we had the river to ourselves. If you're not sure if rapids or a seven day trip is for you - I would absolutely encourage considering this three day trip. It was wonderful to see the sights but also nice no to feel like my skin had to endure seven days in a very dry, sun-soaked environment. I absolutely recommend Western River Expeditions!
