On Saturday 07/26/25 I met a hiker on the Rock Canyon Trail. During casual conversation we talked about horses. I asked "Amelia" if she knew of a great place to rent horses. Amelia told me "Z Cross Ranch" and recommended it as she would work there on Fridays as a trainer and sometimes guide. On Monday 07/28/25, I booked and paid for the 4 hour trail ride with lunch for my son and I at a cost of $533.98. The trail ride was to take place on Wednesday. 07/30/25 at 9AM. On Wednesday my son and I made the 60 mile drive from our Bluffdale, UT location to Z Cross Ranch, Wanship, UT. We arrived at the ranch early as advised by the website. Once at Z Cross, there was NO ONE from the Z Cross Ranch trail rides as stated in our itinerary. We waited until past 9AM and saw a woman who was tending to her private horse. We asked her if she knew anything about the Z Cross trail rides and she said she had the contact info of the owner, Caleb Zwahlen. This woman phoned Caleb and spoke with him briefly and hand the phone to my son. Caleb Zwahlen told my son he did not have anyone scheduled for a trail ride today. My son gave him my name on the reservation and he found that I had booked and paid for the trail ride for that morning on that day. Caleb Zwahlen said he was out of the area until 1PM and he would see what he could do to find someone to fulfill our paid ride reservation. AT about 9:40AM "Dani and Kyle" showed up and introduced themselves to my son and told us they would be our trail ride guides. Dani and Kyle saddled the horses and my son and I started the ride at about 10AM. We rode for about an hour and stopped. Dani and Kyle offered us a small bottle of water and snack bars. Kyle state to me they normally have a charcuterie board type snack, but do to the last minute notification they did not have one. We continued the ride and headed back to the stable. As we neared the stable I thought the ride was short but honestly never looked at my phone to see what the time was. We thanked Dani and Kyle and I gave them a $50 tip. Once in the car for the return trip home, I saw that it was 11:50 AM. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE 4 HOUR RIDE I PAID FOR???? I was extremely disappointed with all that transpired or should I say DID NOT TRANSPIRE, that I didn't even bother talking to Dani and Kyle. I instead immediately emailed Caleb Zwahlen and told him the ride was 2 hours short and I expected an adjustment in money I paid for the 4 hour ride. At 6:21PM I received an email from Caleb Zwahlen stating he would make the appropriate cost adjustment, but did not sate what the adjustment would be. I never saw any adjustment to my payments or credit card refund. On 07/31/25 at 10:24AM I phoned Caleb Zwahlen to confirm he was going to make the appropriate price adjustment to the ride. There was no answer and I left him a message confirming my being unhappy about the total ride event and asked him to call me back. As of this review time, Caleb Zwahlen has not made any attempt to phone me of email me about this situation. In my opinion and from my experience with Caleb Zwahlen, I find him to be a crooked thief that cannot be trusted. I had a contractual agreement basically signed by both parties for Z Cross Ranch to provide a service, the 4 hour trail ride for 2 people, on a designated date and at a designated time. NONE OF WHICH OCCURRED! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT PATRONIZE Z CROSS RANCH EVEN IF THEY WERE THE LAST PLACE TO RIDE!
