We did dry land sledding, riding an ATV behind the pack while they were fastened to the ATV. They ran just as they would if they were actually pulling a sled. It is much different than other dog sledding adventures, where you are just a passenger going for a tour. Before you start, you learn about the dogs, how certain breeding makes for better sled dogs, and their shelter. The whole theme was about the dogs and not a transactional sled ride, which we appreciated. The whole shelter is about giving back to the community and adding some Karma to the world which is nice. Once we got on the sleds, you played an active role in the ride. You helped push up the hills and drive down the hills. Best week of camp ever! Not only was the dog sled ride we went on prior to camp amazing, educational, and fun - but my kids week of summer camp was unbelievable. Every day they came bounding home with stories of team work, relationship building, bonding with pups, and learning to love hard work. At the end of the week Fernando and Danna handed out awards to each camper complete with thoughtful, individualized statements highlighting unique strengths they'd observed during the week. The owners are incredible hosts and their passion, love and excitement for their pack of rescues and the sport of dog sledding is contagious. Here's some tips: Parking: it's a narrow uphill driveway. Consider parallel parking (temporarily) on the street and wait for instructions on where to park (so previous parties can leave and you don't get boxed in or stuck on the steep, snowy driveway). Starting: all participants in your time slot need to be present to begin. Note: we had a late start - the group before our time slot went over- I assume you need to be flexible because the dogs come first- this is an organization passionate about the care for these incredible animals. We finished 45 minutes later than expected. Part 1: welcome tour. ~20 minutes. Fernando goes over the history of their business and introduces some of his rescued and retired dogs. These stories are moving! Part2: ~50 minutes. Dog sled! You and your musher will hook up the dogs then you choose to sit in the sleigh or stand. The course: If you want beautiful Mountain Views, if you have a need for speed, if you want an adrenaline rush, and if you are in fairly good shape- you will love this experience! You help steer and break. you may have to walk and push on the uphill a little. Also, dogs will poo throughout the ride so watch your step! And the canvas sleigh will smell like dog. you may fall off. Don't worry, the snow is a soft landing. What to bring: Bottle of Water, Hand sanitizer, Snow Boots, Sun glasses, sun screen, dress in layers. Optional: helmet. Where do I even begin... Okay so if you are ever in the area and do not visit Rancho Luna Lobo, you are making a huge mistake. What this family/team is doing for these dogs is just astonishing. When we arrived for our dog sledding experience we were greated by a young lady who proceeded to tell some information about their ranch (they were finishing up another tour, and we had arrived a couple of minutes early). When we begin, we were greeted by Dana who was going to give us more detailed information about the ranch. She told us their story and a lot of the dogs stories. She introduced us to the dogs and gave us a tour of their kennel. She let us interact with them inside the kennel and gave us a lot of background information behind the passion that has drove them to create this business. When it was time for our tour, we walked up a hill and were introduced to the other mushers and the dogs who would be sledding with us. Everyone in this facility is unbelieveibly nice and passionate about the work they do. The dogs are all adorable and I didn't know who to pet and love on next! We were lucky enough to be paired up with Amanda who was beyond amazing! She let us even help her bring the dogs to the line where we were going ride. When it started we were so excited and it was such an amazing experience thoughout its entirety. Going up my boyfriend assisted with going up hill and directing and when coming down I was able to assist with steering and braking which was really neat. We got to see how they interact while on the sled with the dogs and how neat it is to see them running with a passion. I didn't want it to end! I want to just make a note that almost all the dogs in this facility are rescues which have been given a second chance by this family. A lot of them were taken in from abusive homes or from people who simply could no longer care for them. The dogs that are on the sled are dogs that just love to run. If they note that running is not the dogs passion, they do not force them to be part of the team, instead they get to enjoy life with their other doggie friends. They take extreme care of their dogs! They even have little houses outside for them where they can go inside and watch Netflix! What a life!!! When we were leaving, it was taking our Uber a while to arrive and we had the pleasure of speaking to the manager who was Fernando's brother. He was also very nice to talk to! This was a 5 star experience and then some, despite any drawbacks others may see. Fernando and Dana were just amazing people and this is a "must do" if you love or even like dogs and are in the Park City/Salt Lake area. You are also supporting their mission and the price to go on the safari is well worth it. You get to meet the dogs up close and in person, expect to be covered in dog hair when you're done. If you make a big enough impression, you may be getting your face licked by 2 or 3 dogs at a time (dogs seem to love me). Expect to get a little dirty, all the good things in my opinion. We were fortunate to have 1:1 time with Dana and Fernando after and took a pretty nice tour of the farm and watched how they trained their dogs, heard stories. Really the only bad part to the day is I could have done a lot more of that. Again, something that's a must do if you are in the area. read more

I love that my dog is always so happy when I bring her here for boarding. I feel so comfortable while I am away because Dana, Fernando and all of their staff truly pay attention to all of the dogs needs, especially the hikes! Best day care and boarding in Park City area.
