The staff is super-friendly and makes you feel right at home. Dr. Aneta D'Amico immediately puts you at ease with her calm and sweet demeanor. The most impressive part of my visit was that Dr. D'Amico took the time to show me my problem areas on x-rays, which helped me to understand why and how to care for my teeth better, thus motivating me to do so. I never felt rushed. Dr. Aneta and Ms. Kasia have a special way of making your visit personalized, comfortable and stress-free. The modern office looks great and is spanking clean. Concluding, I highly recommend Pleasant Avenue Dental and I'm so glad I finally switched.

Hands down the best dental experience i've ever had. This was my second trip to his Manhattan…read moreoffice and it was just as good as the first. I got there at 12:50 for a 1pm, was seen right away and was out the door by 1:15 with a bag of teeth related fun and the assurance everything looked great. I have been going to the same dentist since I was a kid, and I got used to things always happening the same way. Every other time, x-rays. 20 minutes of painful scraping, polish, floss, more scraping for some reason. The same 80's music, the same smells, the same toothbrush given to me on my way out. As it turns out, dental technology has come a long way over the last 29 years. My dentist is no longer 3 miles away from me, so it was time to find a new one close to work that took my new dental insurance. A friend of mine recommended Dr. Jallad - best recommendation ever. Apparently now dentists can scrape your teeth with a pressurized water spray that does the same job as the pick - with minimal force. This is amazing, especially for someone (me) with sensitive teeth and slightly receding (runs in the family) gums. X-rays, scraping, polish, out of there. He was extremely friendly and minded all of my sensitive spots. No pain, no extra cost, no extra work, no cavities! I got to watch the World Cup while he was working, and I was done in 20 minutes! His front desk staff is amazing - no ZocDoc for them, but you know what? Sometimes it's better that way.

I was referred to Spring Valley by a close friend who had only received preventive care there. I…read moreinitially went in for a routine cleaning and wisdom tooth removal. During my exam, I was told I had multiple cavities and that one tooth needed a root canal. The first red flag for me was that they didn't accept my insurance and strongly encouraged me to move forward with extensive additional treatment. I was presented with several treatment plans totaling over $8,000, which made me uncomfortable. Ultimately, I only approved a wisdom tooth extraction, a cleaning, and one filling. During the procedure, I distinctly felt the dentist shaving down the tooth that I had only authorized for a filling. Two weeks later, I began experiencing severe pain on the same side where the work had been performed. When I finally returned, expecting a post-treatment evaluation to determine why I was in so much pain, I was instead presented with another treatment estimate for over $2,000--even though I had insurance at that point. I've always had anxiety about going to the dentist, and unfortunately, this experience has only made that fear worse. I left feeling that my concerns were overshadowed by discussions of additional treatment and costs rather than finding the cause of my pain. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice.

Hi. My name is Kate,…read moreand I hate dentists. I've always been part of the club of people who fear dentists and teeth cleaning. I mean, could those instruments BE any more scary? I'm sorry - is that a tiny pick-axe or medieval weapon in your hand? What did you say - Captain Hook lent you that? OMG - WHAT is that drilling noise? Is there a pothole in here? Everything is magnified 10x as the hygienist approaches me. Hold on a sec, I can't breathe. Okay - so, that was dramatic. But seriously, I know some of you feel me. I am very picky with my dentists because I need someone who understands, and who will treat my gums and teeth gently. I need to feel like the hygienist is not having fun torturing me. I need to feel safe. So why did this place get 5 stars? Because it erases (most of) my fears. Hands together now, and repeat after me - it's gonna be okay, it's gonna be okay.

Due to a clerical error, Horizon Blue did not include my husband on my dental insurance but promised to fix it asap and sent over a proof of coverage. The dental office refused to accept it and after a week I stayed on the line with Horizon Blue so their representative can inform the dental office on what has transpired and also promised to fix it within 24/48 hours. Unfortunately, the dental office continued to refuse to work with us despite the call and the proof of coverage letter and on the day of the surgery informed us that we need insurance or cancel. we have had no choice but to cancel an emergency dental appointment. Very disappointing considering the great reviews.
