However after my first appointment here I knew I was in good hands. Despite the dental issues I had the staff never berated me or made me feel bad. I think a lot of dentist drop the ball when it comes to that. People know their teeth aren't the best, shaming them isn't the best way to make them come back. I didn't have to worry about that here! In fact, whenever I have any issue I call, they are always ready to squeeze me in. Dr. Vitale himself is a wonderful dentist who makes you feel at ease. My entire family comes here and I love how it's in walking distance from my home. He also works with you and your insurance which is a big plus. I had even called in advance to verify insurance and that I would have the $35 copay for the usual dental exam, which they had confirmed, and said nothing of the "required new patient exams" they would force on me. When I get to the appt, they start pushing for other exams that they say they "need to do for first time appts". I kept saying to please see if it was covered by my insurance before performing as I was not familiar with these exams, but they said I had to do these exams as a new patient. Then I'm hit with a $250 bill. I always get my bi-annual dental exams and this was the first time I was charged over my $35 copay. When I called my insurance on why the services weren't covered, my insurance said the dentist did exams that were above the normal amount they were supposed to do for annual exams. Essentially the dentist told me these exams were required for new patients and were covered by my insurance, forced me to get exams even when I said I did not want to, and then I had to pay an unreasonable bill for an appt that should have been a normal annual appt. They also try to push invisalign and teeth whitening.

She explained what she needed to do and what my options were. My fiance and I been going to her every since. One of the many reasons Dr. Plansky rates so highly in my opinion is thats she is not only very knowledgeable but she has amazing artistry. She rebuilt a broken tooth and the color and shape look so natural no one would ever guess it's not my natural tooth! All of the staff were very friendly and thorough. I'm very regular about my dentist visits (every 6 months) and have seen a couple different ones the past few years from moving around states - but Chung and his staff were able to identify a dead tooth/infection that I apparently had for a few years (they could tell it's been there a while based on the size of the infection growth shown in the x-rays). I'll need to get a root canal procedure to stop the infection from spreading! I'm appalled that my past dentists never caught this. They also pointed out several minor cavities & teeth grinding, and gave me suggestions on what I could do to solve those issues - ex. Filling the cavities, getting a mouth guard, and general tips on how I can be eating/brushing better to avoid these problems. The office lady also said she would check with my insurance to see what my out of pockets cost were and let me know, so that I could decide if I'd like to proceed with coming back for the additional work needed. I'll come back to update my review then, but great impression so far!

I highly recommend Dr. Tuchman and his staff! I have been scared of getting my 4 impacted wisdom…read moreteeth out for years, and I had visited two oral surgeons prior to him (one also very highly recommended in Manhattan), but I didn't feel comfortable with either of them doing the procedure. After seeing Dr. Tuchman, I felt a lot more comfortable with him and decided to have him do the procedure due to his very attentive bedside manner and expertise. The other oral surgeons told me that couldn't remove all of my wisdom teeth--one was very close to the nerve, and the other surgeons offered to cut the tooth in half. Dr. Tuchman took an additional x-ray and said he could remove the tooth without complications (the risk factor as low as 0.5%). He also explained that there were risks to cutting the tooth in half (i.e. infection, issues later in life), so he was confident he could remove all of the wisdom teeth. I am very happy that I chose him to do my wisdom tooth extraction! As a result, he removed all 4 of the teeth completely, and I was very surprised that I didn't have almost any pain afterwards and pretty minimal swelling. I did have to wait a little bit in the chair for him, but definitely worth the wait if you get to the appointment early because he takes time and a lot of care with his patients. If I would've known that I wouldn't have much pain at all, I would've gotten the procedure done earlier. He also deeply cares about his patients and gave me a call after the surgery to make sure I was doing ok and taking my medications. His secretary is also great and helped me reschedule my appointment a couple times after I needed things switched around. His office is great. If you're scared of getting your wisdom teeth removed, I would highly recommend Dr. Tuchman's office!
