Initially chose to start seeing Dr. Wen because his office was conveniently located, and I wanted to start using my dental insurance. Have been going for a couple years and have thankfully only needed routine cleanings and a single filling. Have not experienced anything but quick and professional treatment and there have been no issues with billing to my insurance. I do plan on continuing to see Dr. Wen for routine dental check ups but cannot attest to his skills regarding Invisalign or emergency dental procedures. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST. This past Saturday, he was putting in a final crown and it still hurts. I was getting a cleaning at the same time. He insisted I get a "deep cleaning". The "deep cleaning" took 10 minutes and I had to remind him to finish the upper left quadrant. I get two free cleanings a year but that's not good enough for Wen - he said I needed a deep cleaning. He also showed me special toothpaste for my "bleeding" gums. My gums were not bleeding at all. I had to file a complaint with Cigna and dispute the charges on my credit card. I was charged $97.60 for a cleaning that should have cost nothing. What deep cleaning takes 10 minutes? He doesn't care about your teeth. HE ONLY WORRIES ABOUT MONEY I remember one ugly episode where he started work on a young man and then the office got into a loud phone conversation with the kid's father about paying for the procedure. It was the most ridiculous thing I ever witnessed in a dental office. I also remember several patients questioning costs after a procedure was done. STAY AWAY. read more

Do not go here, avoid at all costs! I went in for a checkup and he frightened me into believing my teeth were in TERRIBLE condition. Made me get a very expensive root canal crown procedure on top of deep cleaning. I believed I needed it all, and it cost a fortune. He also urged me to get it ASAP within the week or my teeth would get even worse (this prevented me from getting a second opinion in time). Went to two dentists after and they were SHOCKED that a dentist recommended a crown for a small cavity, and that my teeth were healthy and I was only 22. They said a deep cleaning and filling would have been more than adequate to solve the problem. He suggest extremely expensive procedures to go over what insurance covers and to take more money from you. read more

If I could give Dr. Wen negative stars, I would. He claims that he is registered for Invisalign, but beware it just means hr took a workshop. I paid almost $5,000 for my Invisalign and my teeth are worse off than before. Dr. Wen made unnecessary spacing in my front teeth stating that it was necessary for my teeth to move. I still have gaps in my teeth and I am worse off than before. Dr. wen even had the nerve to want to charge me for my additional liners and told me that a proper retainer in the end would be more $$. He treats you like a cash cow- champagne pricing for less than $1 beer draft service. Save your money, time and precious teeth. Do NOT go here. read more

I started with Dr. Wen nearly 10 years ago when I worked around the corner from his Manhattan office. I now live and work in Queens, but it's well worth the hike. I stick with him because he can do it all, clearly explaining every step of the process. I would seriously reconsider if a trip to see Dr Wen is necessary or not. I'm a little shocked by all the five star reviews on other websites regarding this office. I went in for a bit of an emergency wisdom tooth extraction and got it done under local anesthesia. I had one wisdom tooth extracted, and ended up with torn corners to my mouth and a chipped tooth in the process, which healed so much worse than the extracted tooth... he's also a bit of a charlatan, pushing for much more than necessary. If you don't know how to stand your ground, i'd highly recommend finding a different dentist if you don't want to be pressured into more than necessary. I did not return to have my chipped tooth filled by him as I did not want to deal with him again. read more

I am not one to cry charlatan, but here goes: CHARLATAN. Two years after my first and only appointment with this hack, I am still dealing with the consequences. His office is lovely. Everything is new and shiny. I suppose he needs the facade to fool people into thinking he is professional. So this man effed up twice with my teeth in one go. First, he did a filling between two teeth, which he, for some reason, decided to connect together. So, needless to say, flossing became impossible, food was trapped where there were spaces in the connected filling, and my mouth felt foreign to me for two years. Finally, last week the filling just fell out. I scheduled an emergency session with my regular dentist, who was flabbergasted. At least now I have normal teeth. Second, it appear that Mr. Wen really loves money. He loves doing complex things. He recommends the most grueling procedures. He fought me tooth and nail to give me a root canal (N.B. I was 22 at the time). He insisted so hard. Made lots of convincing arguments. Brought a cross section tooth drawing and all. A veritable circus. I went to my regular dentist and, again, her reaction was of the wtf variety. She said it is ridiculous to do a root canal if the tooth can still be fixed with a filling. Which she did. And my tooth is fine. One might wonder why I went to this guy in the first place. I believe he does emergency dentistry, and I had an imminent relocation to another country looming. I did end up begging my regular dentist to see me after this appointment. Anyway, do yourself a favor and don't see him. read more

I developed an abscess on Friday, tried to wait it out through Saturday, but by Sunday, it was clear I needed it looked at. Dr Wen was able to see me on 3-hours notice on a Sunday afternoon, and within two hours after that, my tooth was pulled, abscess drained, and I had antibiotics and painkillers in hand from the DR up the block. It wasn't painless, but I didn't expect it to be. But he was personable and had a good chair-side manner. Also to note, the technology he uses is top notch. All digital x-rays, you can see the results while sitting in your chair on the monitor just seconds after he takes them. read more

Was in desperate need of an emergency extraction (bad abscess) and found him by googling emergency in my area. I called his office on a Sunday at 1:15 and Kelly contacted my insurance right away and called back and was in his office @3:30pm. Extremely professional, explained everything and went through all options and steps for current and future. Now it is 3 weeks later and I just left his office after my first appointment for my implant and again professional and a great "chair side manner". As with everything else I do, I always ask up front about costs and estimates for insurance etc. both Dr. Wen and Kelly have been up front and honest and unlike a few of the other reviews did not push any extras or up charges. As an example, my implant is in the way back of my mouth and he didn't push or try to upsell a temporary tooth actually I had to bring it up and his answer was it was up to me but it wouldn't be covered by insurance at all and it was totally optional. I was recommended by a coworker to see Dr. Wen for a dental emergency. They are very accommodating and I was able to get an appointment very quickly after explaining to them it's an emergency. Dr. Wen was very professional and caring. He was very patient and explain everything in detail about my x-rays and the course of treatment. I appreciate his efficiency, expertise and how he followed up with me the day after. Dr. Wen and his staff are extremely attentive and they care a lot about their patients. One of the nightmare....I went to see dr wen to have my four veneers reshaped or to change them because I have my veneers done long time ago. Firstly he insisted to change them to crown because I already have veneers . Secondly, I wanted to reshape and lighten the colors since I already have nice teeth but it turned out to be even worth!!! My front teeth are now buckteeth and shape is the same except they are bigger than before and I can't close my mouth completely...He kept saying it looks nice even though my teeth obviously looks abnormal. I thought I don't even want him to redo my teeth so I went to a few dentist to redo them and all the doctors can't believe why would dr wen recommend crown when I have a healthy teeth because to have crown, you have to shave them small, which I didn't have to do. Crown at dr wen was cheaper than other dentist but now I know that you get what you paid for. I'm currently replacing my bulky teeth at a well know dentist in upper west side. read more
