On my very first call to make an appointment to receive one single dental implant, the office manager, Sharon and a technician seemed disorganized and in a bad mood, getting the spelling of my name wrong multiple times. I went for my FIRST consultation and submitted my dental insurance information. Weeks later, I called her, and not the other way around, and she told me that my dental insurance company refused to cover anything, so I agreed to pay full price. Sharon then goes into this script, one of many: "Dr. Kaplan normally charges $5, 000 for an implant, but he's in a good mood today, and wants to save you money, so he'll only charge you $2, 500." SHE EVENTUALLY CHARGED ME ALMOST $12, 000, FOR ONE SINGLE IMPLANT.
Furthermore, and this is even more troubling: I know for a fact that Sharon and Dr. Kaplan listened to my bank account information on the phone. This was verified by my bank. How did this happen, you ask? When I handed over my debit card to Sharon for their initial charge, it did not work. So I wanted to use her desk phone to call my bank. She dialed for me. Then I had to enter the PIN of my debit card on her phone, but she would not allow me to touch her phone, so I had no choice but to TELL HER MY PIN. She would not let me hold the receiver, so she put my call on Speakerphone mode, allowing her, a technician, and other patients to hear my conversation with a banker. I verified my transaction, Sharon hung up for me, and tried my card again, and it worked. I sat down to wait for my first procedure. Sharon then got up from her desk, and disappeared into the rear of the office, and then there was silence. I didn't see nor hear Sharon, Dr. Kaplan, or the technicians for many minutes. I began to suspect that they were listening to my bank account information, since I told Sharon my PIN. Then Sharon walked around the rear and made a little small talk, so I could see and hear her, and not suspect any foul play, and then disappeared again. Then several more minutes went by, and she nonchalantly returned to the front desk, as if nothing happened. I later called my bank and told a banker what transpired, and the banker verified that SOMEONE, and it was NOT me, DID access my bank accounts by telephone! My banker strongly urged me to get credit monitoring.
I see that other Yelpers say that Sharon is rude. I couldn't agree with them more. She was disrespectful to me a few times. Once, she literally threw an appointment card on her desk in front of me.
I saw them many times. When there were other patients there, Sharon, Dr. Kaplan, and the technicians would smile at me. But if I was the only patient in the office during a particular visit, then they all would be rude and disrespectful to me.
Sharon would often tell me that she would call me the day before an appointment, but she did call.
Prospective patients need to beware of handing over their debit or credit cards to Sharon and Dr. Kaplan. They are dishonest. They access personal financial information, and overcharge their patients. read more
