Although my last visit to this incompetent, and borderline unethical, dentist was more than two years ago, I feel compelled to alert others to his scam. Among other indignities, Dr. Kaplan recommended several inordinately expensive procedures that dentists before and after my visit to him said were entirely unnecessary. He also refused to reimburse me for charges even when instructed to do so repeatedly by Healthfirst, my insurance provider. Indeed, Healthfirst tossed him from their list of providers two years ago; that's really all you need to know. read more

Dr. Daniel Kaplan is THE GO TO DENTIST for other dentists. I am a general dentist and a difficult patient. Luckily I am able to see the work of different dentists and know when someone does outstanding dentistry. I was so impressed with his work and enjoyed his jovial demeanor, but did not want to share my secret find. As a show of gratitude for a job well done I decided to post his praise online. read more

Worst customer service ever. Rude receptionist billed the wrong insurance company and blamed me for it. Spent the day with my insurance company assuring me that they never sent them a bill for services. The same husky voiced receptionist made an appointment last week for a day the dentist wasn't even in the office and I had to travel three hours round trip for nothing. Then today, she told me I couldn't keep my appointment after insisting that my insurance was another company. She was just downright nasty. Why she even has a job there is beyond me. read more

I went to see Dr Kaplan at the central park south office and i feel like i walked into my new family i was very much afraid to the dentist for many years and let my teeth go.i was so delighted after a thorough cleaning with Tatiana the hygienist with no discomfort what so ever i conquered my fear and looking forward to my next visit at the office . Dr Kaplan and the whole staff made me feel so welcome especially Alicia the office manager i would recommend anyone who has dental phobia and extensive dental treatment to run for treatment this awesome office. read more

Seems to have a problem with cash flow -- that is, reimbursing patient after insurance co. has already returned money to him that the patient is required to also pay him up front. This happened not once, but two times, for time periods of over 2 mos. and despite numerous requests for the money. Also, he left me black and blue, which I don't think is strictly necessary. read more

i have been going to this office for some time now, overall i would give this practice 5 stars, Dr. Kaplan is always professional and patient, going to the dentist isnt something i exactly look forward too but he always puts me at ease. the receptionist is a delight with her wit and has been very helpful with insurance issues in the past. But now to the reason for my review; the hygienist Tatiana was always nice but i feel her cleanings have been getting progressively worst. i did mention it the visit prior to my last and decided i would try her once more but at this point it is a waste of time and waste of an insurance claim. initially her cleanings were great and would last almost an hour and i felt that i would come out fresh & clean, but they have been getting shorter and worst over the years. Not sure if this is a tactic to make me come back more often for cleanings but i am not happy at all, i literally still feel the buildup on my back teeth that she says are cleaned. On top of her sub par work, lately i noticed our sessions have turned into religious rants with her actually reciting passages. i am a religious person but i do not go to the dentist to be lectured or taught the Word. she is more concerned about her message than her effort with her work which is unacceptable. Dr. Kaplan, i will continue to see you but at this rate i will have to find another hygienist. read more

The receptionist/office manager is completely unhelpful. She wasted a lot of my time giving me a run around because I had Medicaid. Completely discriminatory. On the day before my appointment, I decided to call to confirm my appointment (usually offices give you a courtesy call and of course I didn't get one) and the same woman told me that now, I needed all my dental records for my first appointment. Where was this information 2 months ago when I made the appointment? I hung up enraged because of so much time wasted and all the trouble I had to go through to make this "consultation" appointment. Don't go here if you want to be treated like a human being. read more

I went to see Rachel Rosen DDS, the first time ever using the dental part of my insurance. Because I have a platinum very expensive plan, it was supposed to be $10 for the visit. Alicia, the receptionist, rather adamantly, after been seen, forced me to pay instead them $75 for the visit, profusely promising me that they'll refund me once they submitted the claim to the insurer. When I call the insurer again the plan said that they weren't supposed to do that, and what was assuming ($10 for visit) was correct. And to get back the $65 was an ordeal! This dentist was in general fine BUT the business part of this is abusive, like a den of thieves, is just a nightmare! Caveat emptor (let the buyer beware)! Or better, don't go there! read more

I have known Dr. Kaplan and his staff for quite a few years. Not only he, but his staff, have been kind, considerate, knowledgeable, etc. When I walked into the office, I felt as if I was a close member of the family and have always been treated with the utmost respect. As far as Dr. Kaplan's professionalism goes, he is a top notch physician -- providing excellent care. I would highly recommend this extremely qualified and caring doctor! read more

You will be hard pressed to find a better dental clinician than Dr Daniel Kaplan. I am a dental phobic whose mouth was a disaster and needed a lot of work. For the last 25 years Dr Kaplan has given me a workable treatment plan to save my teeth, and has been able to keep me relaxed and happy throughout the decades. I have been meaning to write this for years. Thank you Dr. Kaplan. I hope you will continue practicing for at least another 25 years. read more

I am from France but I live in New York. I have experienced numerous dentists in different parts of the world. I came in for an emergency surgery. Not only was I in a lot of pain, but I was scared. I am not exaggerating when I say that Daniel Kaplan is the best dentist in the world. Moreover, he is funny, friendly and caring. read more

Dr. Kaplan is not only an extremely talented dentist in his field, but he is also very friendly, funny, and caring. He makes "going to the dentist" more enjoyable and he does an excellent job. I had extensive caries that he was able to avoid doing a root canal on and several years later the restoration is still maintained. His teeth cleanings make you feel like a new person when you leave his office! I've also received several bleaching treatments as well and my teeth have never looked whiter!! His office is in the best location in Manhattan, easy to get to, is beautifully decorated, and well run. I know that I am in good hands with Dr. Kaplan and I definitely recommend him to others who are looking to get the best treatment. read more

if i could just post this with 0 stars i would. they dont deserve even 1 just for their extremely poor customer service alone. i literally just left this office because of their INCOMPETENCE. first of all i made an appointment some time last week, gave my insurance info and was told by the woman that i spoke with, that she would check my ins and let me know if they'd take so that i could schedule my appointment. She calls back not long after and says everything's fine and that i'm covered. AWESOME! Cut to today 8/13 @ 8 am after i took time off work this morning, i get to their dreary weird dimly lit office only to find that the insurance that i provided over the phone and now in the office to the receptionist, is NOT the ins that i was covered under in their little portal. So i was told i provided invalid insurance and that i could not be seen and to top it off, I NEVER HAD AN APPOINTMENT IN THE SYSTEM TO BEGIN WITH. I left the office livid. Maybe 20 minutes later i receive a call from the same woman that i initially spoke to and confirmed my INSURANCE from the jump and confirmed my appointment on 8/12. She says the info i gave her to make the appt doesnt match the card i gave. WHICH IS A LIE!!!!! she precedes to tell me that with my name date of birth and whatever else, the portal gave her a different covering insurance. . . THAT I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT!! she never informed of this info so i brought along with me my normal insurance card. she told me it was my fault for the mix up and she got snippy with me. I LET HER HAVE IT. i do NOT recommend this office AT ALL. SOME OLD PPL SHOULD GIVE UP THE WORK FORCE COMPLETELY! she was very nasty and her old bitter ass was in the wrong. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! read more
