Took in a rider. Got back a pusher. I wish I had read the…read moreprevious review before taking our mower to these people! Took my operational riding lawnmower in to have the blades replaced (I provided the blades) and a tune-up. I was told it would take two weeks. When I picked it up, I asked the man assisting me with loading onto my trailer, what all was done. His response was "How am I supposed to know? I didn't work on it!" Great customer service (ugh!) I brought it home and after taking it off of the trailer, went to drive it around to the back of the house. The mower started, but sounded horrific, and would not move forward or in reverse. Attempted to call the company but as it was after hours I was unable to contact anyone and they did not have voicemail. I faxed my complaint that it was no longer operational, so that someone would see it first thing in the morning. No one called in the morning, so I did. Explained the situation to the man on the phone who was so rude, telling me that he had no responsibility for my machine no longer working even though there was nothing that was supposed to have been done that would have caused it to not function. He argued and boasted that he was the owner and insisted they had not done anything that would have made it stop working. I tried to ask how he was going to remedy the situation and he proceeded raise his voice to me, and to not only call me a liar, but threatened to call the police if I showed up at his business. WORST BUSINESS IN SALEM! Please, please save yourself the headache! DO NOT USE THIS SORRY EXCUSE FOR A BUSINESS.

Be careful. Finally after I contacted eXmark for help, they took care of the problem but I had to take it to another dealer. There my problem was corrected when the other dealer in Mt Angel Oregon replaced a part that cost less than $20. Be careful when dealing with Homestead Acres. They found just to many issues that I had them work on only because I didn't want my mower returned to me in a basket. It was a very bad experience I had and had to deal with some of their rude employees who didn't hesitate to call me a liar in an event to cover up their mistakes. Stay away!

He showed up to our first appointment over 2 hours late and did a 4-6 minute diagnosis on it and said he'd contact me in the next day or two to let me know when he could fix it. I said it ran last time I used it, the transmission ran, the blade just wouldn't spin and that's all I knew. A week went by and nothing, I was about to move on then, but he called and we set up an appointment the next week. He was 2 and a half hours late to that appointment too. Before he came the day before, I asked if he had any idea how much it would be and all he would say was "Cheap as possible" I know service can't give you a direct quote because things pop up, but he could at least say the cable is x dollars, my hourly rate is x, it will take x time so anything more will be above that. This is where I started to get the scammy vibes. It's a 10 year old mover so he suggested I change the belt so I said go ahead. He asked if I had a covered area, I have a completely covered patio in the back so I said yeah. Never asked if it was in the front or the back. He starts replacing the broken cable and realizes he has the wrong cable so he needs to go get a new one. Comes back, puts the cable on, then says, oh that's not the right blade so I got a new one for you. I knew the blade that I put on it was the exact same blade that came off it, I bought the mower new from Home Depot, got the new blade from Home Depot, The blade literally says that it's for my model lawnmower in the title on their website. It was the right blade. His was a totally different shape. He said it would be $25 more so I just said whatever. Then some time goes by and I see him taking the carbs off and pulling the air filter, messing with the oil so I start wondering is this going to cost me so I went out and asked him why he was doing all this extra work? He just assumed he was going to do whatever he wanted. Yes my air filter is dirty as hell, it's a 10 year old mower. But it ran. So we have a disagreement there, he says "I just like to do thorough work." I said I didn't ask for any of this, I just wanted the blade to spin. So he seems pretty butthurt at that point, comes to the door and says how about $200? At that point I just wanted it to be done so I agreed that I would pay him $200. He works some more, He says he's done. I go out to pay him, give him cash as he's writing my invoice. He's about to send it and says "Why don't you try to start it up" so I do and I couldn't even pull the cord it was so tight. He flips it over and is like oh damn, theres another belt in there that's all twisted up and destroyed I didn't see. At that point he calls Toro and reserves another belt and says he'll be back next Monday to fix it. Later that day he calls me and says he's sorry and that he'll fix it to make it right but I'm going to have to pay $30 for the new belt. I agreed to pay $30. Monday comes and goes, he doesn't show. No call, nothing. More time goes by and he calls me later in the week or the next week asking if I will be around on Wednesday. I tell him I'm only around on Mondays unless it's after 5, so he says can you leave it out. I tell him it's always out and that he can get to it in my backyard anytime. He says he'll be there Wednesday to fix it. Doesn't show. Doesn't call. I call him on Monday and he says he got the part on Saturday (What happened to the next day when he fixed it or last Wednesday when he was supposed to be there) and he would be here later Monday or first thing on Tuesday. Didn't show, didn't call. Wednesday I was about to call him and he calls and says I'll be there in a little while to get it done. Doesn't show. I was writing him a text to ask for a partial refund and to go our separate ways if he doesn't want to do it when he calls. This time I'm questioning why he would treat a customer like this. He's coming up with all the times and dates he guarantees he's going to be there and flaking out. He says it's raining and I don't have a covered area. A mobile lawnmower repairman in Vanouver, WA that doesn't have a plan for rain. I said I have a fully covered back patio which is 15 feet from my driveway and he says he would be too far away from his tools. I tell him this is the last time I'm giving him a chance to show up or I'm just calling it off. He agrees. He calls me at 6:45 this morning and tells me after reflecting on our conversation last night, he's gonna have to charge me more to put the belt on. I say how much again, he says as cheap as possible. I told him that wasn't good enough and he says $60. So I again let him know how I felt about him flaking 5 or 6 times, which he says he didn't flake. That this is a terrible way to run a business and forget it, I'll just buy a new mower. He then says I'll just refund you all your money, He'll send me a check in the mail cause I'm a piece of sh*t and hung up on me.
