I started calling some local plumbers to get some pricing. One company I called said they would need to order it. Then I decided to call Apex Plumbing since I knew that's where it was purchased the last time. And they had some in stock! While I had Apex on the line, I asked if they had any recommendations on who might help us get it installed. They gave a couple of names and numbers and I called Drip Doctor as a result. DJ was very professional on the phone and quoted me a good price and said he was available the following morning. He had excellent communication and customer service skills. He arrived on time, switched out the hot water heaters, fixed the leak and left the work site clean. He also took the time to show my hubby how and when to drain it once a year. This will help get an optimal lifespan out of it. DJ gave us the paperwork that came with it and suggested we enter our details on their website for the warranty. We had a wonderful experience using DJ, the Drip Doctor to fix us right up!

The service Technician Austin, gave me a coupon to use with one of their preferred service plumbers. I was like whatever! Home warranty company denied the claim because it wasn't normal wear and tear. They %$&*! Just wished I had a license plate to pin to it! As it turns out the guy from the Choice Home Warranty was awesome, and quoted me his price. $600. With the knowledge, and coupon (20% off, from Atmos), I was able to get Princeton Plumbing to do the same job for $400. That is a great savings!!!! Princeton Plumbing came out, quickly, assessed the needs of my gas leak, and quickly pulled the necessary permits. The City of McKinney was slow to do their thing here! Go figure, and it was the weekend.....Days pass! Princeton, once issued the permits, corrected my issues, and again we awaited the inspector from McKinney. Sigh! Finally we got the go ahead, and Princeton Plumbing jumped back into action to hooked me back up to the main. Woo hoo! They quickly advised me to schedule the return of service, removal of the lock... To get my gas turned back on. Atmos was here within the hour and was outstanding to get everything going! Gotta love that service! The Service guy stated that this was a major problem with meters near driveways. Can't agree more! He lite all pilot lights and made sure the cooktop was clear of air in the lines. Super service from Atmos! They are all about consumer safety! Atmos was pretty good through the whole deal! Minor complaints....I feel they could have fixed my side and prorated it out over several months to reduce the burden on my budget. Not an option! All, in all, I was without gas, and dealing with cold water, for 7 days. I was super unhappy, but Hey! I drive my bus! (see the Book, " The Energy Bus!"). It will change your life!

This business said we needed to do a flush on a tankless water heater when the pad said it was…read moreignition failure. So a new igniter was needed. The manufacturer also said the same. Also, a tank flush was NOT required for the manufacturer to replace a 23 dollar igniter. Long story short, the company and owner Candy stood behind that a flush was not required but now recommended and so a $450 dollar service was performed needlessly when there was no restriction and ended up waiting 3 days with no hot water thanks to how this was handled. I could go on about how dishonest I think this business is, but it's pretty sad to see customers taken advantage of in a time of need and I will never use them again. It's not right and def frustrating when the customer is told one thing and the business is told another for the business to save face. Candy also said she would call my landlord back within a couple days. That also didn't happen after she talked with management. She says she is the owner on her replies so I'm confused why that would be needed when you own the company so I question if she is the owner or if this is another misnomer. Hopefully this saves others from going through the frustration we experienced over a simple fix that went from 23 dollars plus a service visit to over $600 and the business stood behind the needles service. Their recommendations are in my opinion profit driven and not customer centric. Nor is the issue a customer has resolved quickly as a result of.

I am rating a 3 because I chose not to go with this company due to their very high price and some information that I was given by the person that came to my home that I have never heard anyone else ever say in person or on the internet. Here's the story. I was quoted $3300 (parts and labor) to replace a 20 gallon tank hot water heater and add a flood stop valve. Now I've had a 40 gallon water heater replaced before at a different house and it only cost me $1300 (with parts and labor) so I definitely had some sticker shock. Maybe that's normal now, but I'm not sure that labor inflation has gone up this much in 5 years. Maybe it has though. . . (Doesn't look like it when I check homedepot.com though). Second, I was inquiring about maybe going tankless because I have an attic mounted water heater and I would definitely like to not have to worry about losing a ceiling one day because the tank fails. The person from this company was vehement that tankless water heaters use more electricity than tanked water heaters. What? Isn't the whole point of tankless water heaters that they use LESS electricity? Hasn't most of Europe switched over to tankless because they use less electricity? Doesn't the US Government's EPA say that tankless units use 34% electricity on average? What is going on here? Whether the company stands by this claim or denies that their guy said it. . . I would never go with a company with such suspicious pricing and that makes such suspicious claims about energy usage. YMMV.

They determined it was a freon leak from the condenser coils and recommended replacement. On a recommendation for a second opinion, we contacted VIP Air Conditioning. We were more impressed with Steve and VIP Air. He provided options from replacing just the coils to replacing the system. Since the system is old, we opted for replacing it and chose VIP. Their pricing on a superior Trane system was less than the other company's pricing on a Goodman or Amana. The techs were here on time and performed an excellent install. The guys were professional and didn't waste any time getting the job done. The new system doesn't just perform better, it looks neater and cleaner than the old one.
