This mid-century modern gem has been better described by true architectural connoisseurs, so I will defer to them. Stay here to soak it in. - We found the room to be reasonably sized. We loved the long work area behind the head of the bed, and were smitten by the expensive floor to ceiling windows with a view of the runway and terminal four. - Visit to the Lockheed Constellation was cute; exterior much more impressive than the interior. - The rooftop pool is a treat and should not be missed. - The physical plant for the rooftop bar adjacent to the pool is an interesting design choice; I get the impression this was thrown up as something of an afterthought given the plastic and fabric walls and half hearted effort at an apres-ski theme. Drinks were fine, but I think could be better in a hotel of this type. - The Paris restaurant (reviewed separately) is shockingly pricey for what it delivers. Overall, poor culinary effort in the middle of stunning physical plant. - Shower spacious, but interestingly simply has a glass half panel without a door dividing it from the rest of the bathroom. - Weird electrical issues in our room. Breaker Or GFI in the bathroom that controlled the lighting died mid shower. Never could get the mirror lights to reset, but after a time the lower level lighting turned itself back on. Similarly, the hotel-provided hairdryer tripped breakers out in the room itself.

Whether hanging out in the central lobby, grabbing a bite, hitting up the gift shop, or a cocktail on the plane. We've also spent time at the rooftop pool and bar and love exploring and looking at the displays of uniforms and other iconic pieces from years gone by. My most favorite thing to do is to get a room to relax. You're able to get a room for blocks of time which is a wonderful way to relax, clean up, and nap if you have a long layover. Most especially for international travel. The architecture and design are reminiscent of TWA in its heyday. Iconic furnishings and colors. Always something new and fun to check out in the TWA hotel wing.

I highly recommend arriving at the hotel ahead of time and exploring the beautiful location. The hotel is quite a sight to behold- packed with TWA history, designed in that beautiful retro aesthetic, and a lovely reminder of the golden age of flying. Walking around the hotel and exploring the gift shop might have been my highlight. At the pool, they're pretty strict about the timing and the lobby got pretty crowded right before the scheduled time. The pools itself is relatively small, warm, and shallow. We got some IPAs on tap (around $10 each), hung out in the pool, and watched the planes. I was a bit surprised but the overall crowd there. Lots of families with splashing children and people that really just seemed to want to be by a pool and didn't care about that specific location. Didn't necessarily expect so many people to spend money and come all the way to JFK without caring for planes but ofc that's up to them. Just something to keep in mind if you choose to come here. They also don't have changing rooms so you might want to wear your swim clothes or you'll have to change in the bathroom. I would give the hotel a 6/5 and the pool a 3/5. Would love to come back in winter for their apres ski chalet as I think the location is unbeatable.

I would not recommend buying food at the pool bar. It was not great and thrown in plastic containers. The cocktail the bartender made was very nice. Cocktails are $17 each. The parking after the 3 hour total was $68. It was unique, but not worth the $$$

It was completed in 1962 and open for business. The original head house (aka: terminal building), operated as a functioning terminal until 2001. The exterior of the building, along with the interior, of the head house were declared landmarks in 1994. Moreover, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. Today it is part of the TWA hotel complex, but anyone can visit the flight center, lounges, gift shop, food court, and museum area. In addition to the original building, it has been partially surrounded by additional hotel buildings. Inside, the former terminal has been restored to its former glory. You can see the open three-level tall windows with amazing views of departing and arriving jets in the sunken lounge area. There are the tube-shaped, red-carpeted departure/arrival corridors that now lead to rooms in the hotel, but used to connect the gates. Now various places in the head house and flight center are museum-type displays for the former airline. It is a very interesting place for anyone to check out the displays and read about the history of TWA. Moreover, there are additional items to check out like the old cars and the huge Twister game. Whether you stay at the hotel or just need a few hours to kill on your layover...this is "something to do". Personal Note: I thoroughly enjoyed seeing everything in the flight center. It brought back so many wonderful memories. When I was a little girl, my family and I used to look forward to flying in and out of here back when my dad worked for the airlines. We loved this airport and mainly because of this terminal...it was fun and different. With the way they have restored it, it almost seems like I entered a time machine to another time. I am forever grateful they gave this building a new life. I hope other families make new memories and remember the old ones as I did. It's a very special place and there is nothing like it!

Inspired by the Sydney Opera House, Eero created this terminal to resemble a bird in flight. The photos says it all, but come here and experience the space for yourself. Here is my experience: I was scanned in quickly and had lunch. There were two soups: broccoli cheddar and onion with beans. Chicken thighs, rice, salad fixings. Someone requested fruit and they brought out some oranges and apples but said fruit is only during breakfast. I guess he meant the cut up fruit. I especially enjoyed the seltzer and water fountain. I filled my water bottle for the flight. Nice selection of teas and some brownies and cookies for dessert. There was a shower available if you needed it. I left after around 45 min because I had to visit the other options at LGA: Chase Sapphire lounge and the Be Relax spa!

But we were lucky on our visit and able to go in right away, with progeny. This lounge turned out to be a Godsend in light of the long wait for our flight. Our progeny call this category of dining "Lounge Food" and they love it (just like they love their "Hotel Breakfast"). Here, the grownups really enjoyed the food and drink offerings, as well. The buffet featured some surprisingly good falafel by celebrated NYC chef, Kwame Onwuachi. They were a little undersalted and dry given that there wasn't a more saline, creamy element to accompany (e.g. hummus, babaganoush, etc...), but otherwise nicely seasoned and textured despite being held in warming trays for a while. The other standout dish was a braised chicken thigh preparation with artichokes, olives and Hungarian peppers by Sarah Grueneberg, another celebrity chef based out of Chicago, paired with sour cream and butter enriched mashed potatoes. There was some sort of green smoothie on offer at the buffet, which was lovely. It wasn't too sweet and I think included cucumber, mint, possibly a small amount of celery, cinnamon (surprising addition that also surprisingly worked). The kiddos enjoyed the brownies and sugar cookies on offer, but sadly didn't have room for the awesome-sounding gelato bar. The bar offers complimentary drinks, including some decent wine options and cocktails. (I had my standard bloody Mary, which wasn't horrible, but I wish I'd gone with one of the Centurion Lounge special cocktails, which sounded more interesting.) There's hot tea, coffee, lemonade and iced tea available as well. There are a moderate number of outlets around the lounge. Bathrooms were well maintained. Staff we encountered ranged from polite enough to very friendly and helpful. I prefer not to spend more time in the airport than I must -- but if one must be in LGA, this Centurion Lounge makes the experience so very much more civilized than it otherwise would be.
