I alway love going to the paramount! Such a nice little theater in the heart of Peekskill NY. They always have an interesting array of performances nothing too top notch but always decent. My mom won their Wednesday ticket special so we got 2 free tickets to the Countess Luann cabaret show. Will I say it was good, yes and no, it was the type of performance that was so bad it was good because you just had fun laughing the whole time. This place is just totally mismanaged and the venue misused. When I look at the Board of Directors and the "executives" running it (into the ground), I totally understand why it IS what it IS. That neighborhood at night is SCARY! The patrons at Slainte's Irish Bar (and occasionally at Gleason's) make it very unsafe. Obnoxious drunk people lingering around on the sidewalks! The Peekskill Police presence (or lack thereof) is a major problem as is parking! Go see the Boz Scaggs cover band somewhere else where you can eat at a nice restaurant beforehand, find parking and not deal with the dregs of society that linger in front of Slainte's (& Gleason's)! read more

My Honey and I caught Mandy Patinkin's one man show, "Being Alive!" on 04/12/2024. Well, actually two men! He and the pianist, Adam Ben-David were amazing! A mix of Broadway show tunes, American Songbook peppered with jazz and rock surprises! Mandy told stories that explain his love of all things theater. This love started when he was young. Nurtured by his parents, especially his father. Accompanied by Adam's flawless playing, he and Mandy work like a well oiled machine. I went through a myriad of emotions listening to Mandy's voice. Going from booming highs to whisper lows. Some songs I was familiar with others I was not. Mandy's interpretations brought all of them to life with breathtaking passion!! Run do not walk I say, and see this show if you are able. You will not be disappointed!! The no picture/video taking rule of theater is strictly enforced during the show. And heaven help you if you're late or get up during the no intermission performance. Mandy will notice, you've been warned!! The staff here were all very pleasant and helpful. My SO and I visited this theatre for Hyprov and we were able to find parking easily in a nearby garage, which was a short walk away. We arrived after the doors opened so we didn't wait in line, easily reaching the box office for our will-call tickets. The box office separated tickets by last name and didn't ask for any confirmation or proof of identification, which was a little strange. The lobby had a nice bar setup with several bartenders doling out beverages, which turned out to be very reasonably priced. We were shown our seats and we had a fantastic view. While the theatre is intimate, there was a great amount of space between our legs and the seats in front of us. The angle of the chairs also allows each row to have a better, higher view so you're not struggling to view the stage. We would absolutely love to catch another show here since we had such a great time. read more

Everyone is really nice here. It was easy to get tickets. The view of the stage from the orchestra is great.

For a place that's almost 100 years old it's in decent shape. Tickets are cheap and staff are friendly. It can get very crowded in the lobby area trying to enter especially if you want beer or alcohol. For a venue it served its purpose, nothing spectacular, I'm there for a comedy show not the athletics of the building. Overall I'd say if you can grab tickets to see something you want to see do it. Parking can be a pain so arrive early. read more

Been to the local Paramount for an array of shows and comedians and I love this spot. It's so central in Peekskill and surrounded by fabulous restaurants and local spots. Seating is decent as are ticket pricing depending on who is performing. Seating size though is a little tight if you got a big booty judy, so be aware. I saw Garrison Keillor here recently, and it was a terrific experience. The theater is beautiful and gracefully designed. It opened in 1930, and you can see the design influences of the time. Lighting is stellar! Friendliest, most helpful staff helped make the experience a complete delight. You must visit this beautiful gem of a theater. It will transport you. And I almost forgot to mention: it's an easy trip from the city. You can eat and drink in the city of Peekskill, and hop a train home. Free and plentiful parking, too. read more

What a cute theater! We went to see Chris Botti and were happy to see how much charm and nostalgia this place has! Great seats, outstanding sound, and the cash only bar serves good drinks! We probably do not take enough advantage of this wonderful theater near our home. The Paramount Theater has been designated a Westchester County Landmark and is on the New York state and National Registers of Historic Places. Back in 2002 the theater underwent an extensive restoration of the walls and ceilings with original detail recreated on a canvas wall coverings, the addition of an annex with dressing rooms and backstage dock, the incorporation of a full fly system and a full array of lighting and sound, renovation of seating and restrooms. Bottom line, it is an intimate and comfortable venue at which you can enjoy your favorite act, band, comedian or movie. The Paramount theater has been around for decades built in 1930 it has a twin theater in Middletown New York. The paramount was run for many years by a nonprofit group. They showed a nice mix of independent movies and shows. In September 2013 the Capitol theater in Port Chester New York reopened. The Tarrytown music hall was in business for many years along with the Paramount theater . Before the Capitol theater reopened the Paramount theater only had to compete with the Tarrytown music hall to get acts. They could get performers who had come to the Tarrytown music hall six months after they performed at the Tarrytown music hall. But with the Capitol theater in Port Chester opening they lost access to the entire group of performers that came to the Capitol theater. So they had to close down for several months. Redhill entertainment took the theater over in 2014. They have had some very good shows that I've seen Judy Collins, Jay and the Americans, Kansas, drive-by truckers. Management is very nice along with the employees. I went there for the Judy Collins show and asked John one of the managers if he could get her to sign my records as she never comes out after the show to sign for the audience. He said he would do what he could and to come up to him after the show. Sure enough both records were signs he said she agreed to do the signing before she went on stage. It's tough for them as they have to compete with the Capitol theater in Port Chester and the Tarrytown music all in Tarrytown. Any act it comes to either of those two venues can't come to the Paramount theater for six months because of what's written into their contract. Groupon sometimes has good deals for tickets for shows at the paramount. Otherwise tickets are reasonably priced as it's a small venue and any seat is a good seat to see and hear a performer. This is definitely a good place to see any show anyone and everyone out there who likes live music should support the Paramount theater read more

Love the classic look of an old theater. Good acoustics, friendly staff. Seats are fairly comfy. W/o a dedicated parking lot the parking can be a little of a hassle but not too bad.Love that they've circumvented Ticketmaster and now I only pay $7 "service charge" instead of Ticketmaster's nonsense. read more

Great venue. The bar/refreshment stand was awful however, to slow, bad paying arrangements. Saw Scott Stapp there, was 3rd row. Bunch of duds at the show though, handful of us rocked out, but more people sat like they were at a movie! Maybe this was because the bar not only ran out of beer except some beer called Smart Beer, but was closed by 915! The bar was EXTREMELY SLOW. They make change out of a jar of cash, and if you want to use your debit or credit card you have to buy vouchers at the box office, which no one tells you until you are waited on. They definitely need to work on their bar. read more

Built in the 1500s, The Paramount Theatre is a beautiful historical building with hand-painted canvases on the ceiling, decorative painting of the walls and balcony, faux opera boxes, and towering plaster columns. I loved the venue but the area is quite dead. No places to eat or have coffee. There is a cute shop across the street which sells unique gifts. I saw Jackie Mason there and it was worth it just to see him! read more

Great venue for concerts...good acoustics! I have been there for several performances...recently to see Foreigner. I love this theater. The seats are comfortable and there is not a bad seat! One complaint...too much time taken by Paramount staff members pushing for financial support for the theater. The 15 minute talks on stage asking for money are a turn-off! I get that funds are needed for the upkeep of the theater but there has got to be a better way...maybe flyers in the playbills. read more

We went to a Jessica Lynn concert this weekend at the Paramount Hudson Valley. Our son was part of a middle chorus that performed some songs with Jessica Lynn. We mistakenly bought the wrong tickets and didn't realize until we got to the concert. The concert was sold out so buying another ticket wasn't an option. The entire staff there were so understanding and went above and beyond to accommodate us. George was able to get us in just a few minutes before the concert started. We had a fabulous night. The perform by Jessica Lynn was fun, involving and captivating! We look forward to visiting the theater again. read more

If someone finds any reason for a negative review, they don't appreciate an old theatre, beautifully renovated, with excellent acoustics (I just saw BEATLES vs STONES). The sound and tone was perfect to our ears. The seats are more than wide enough for this man's fat ass and enough leg room for my 6'5" son-in-law. It's a cozy auditorium with a great presence. We have seen 3 concerts here and just made reservations for SINBAD in February. Parking was free and only 2 blocks away. read more

This place is gorgeous; much nicer than Tarrytown Music Hall actually. I have seen a variety of wonderful shows here. The sound is great, there is not a bad seat in the house, and there are a variety of good restaurants within walking distance. I am always happy to do dinner and a show locally, without the hassle of a trip to NYC. Check out the Paramount Theater! It is a gem of upper Westchester and if we don't support it, it will close (again). We will lose a piece of history and a great venue for performing arts of all kinds. read more

Great venue, except for two things- bathrooms are *always* dirty and parking *always* sucks. Fix those and we'll be golden. Bathrooms are the easier fix; parking will require that the tour buses not block the few handicapped access spaces, and the city stop "bagging" the meters. read more

I don't know why this listing is just for the box office, but I'm writing a review for the theater itself. I recently saw Richard Thompson perform here. Evidently, this place used to be pretty run down. It's since been renovated, and it's very nice. It has an elegant, old-style theater vibe. The acoustics seemed wonderful, and the lighting was amazing. I only give it 4 stars and not 5 because: 1) Some of my friends complained that some of the lighting was obnoxious. I didn't mind it, but sometimes it did flash a bit too brightly at the audience. 2) For the most part, the surrounding area is a disappointment. There is a restaurant across the street (Hugo's) with a sign in the window that says they're open for dinner after shows; when we went in after the show, we were informed that the kitchen was closed. We couldn't find anything convenient nearby before the concert--even the diner was closed. Argh. There is a nice independent coffee shop across the street, though! (They don't have "real food," but at least we were able to get our caffeine fix...) I look forward to going back to the Paramount for another concert! read more

The only reason I m giving this place 1 Star is because they FAILED on providing us HEAT!!! Last night while watching the movie. I went out during the movie to complain to Mgt that there was no heat and although they said they would look into it, the cold air was still blowing down on us from above. NEVER AGAIN!!! I am also warning all my friends and family to stay away from this place until the summer. The problem with the Paramount is not the theater itself as it remains an architectural beauty that should be enjoyed. It's clean bathrooms so opposite the dreary / dirty Tarrytown Music Hall. The problem here seems to be management and their lack of marketing talent which results in lack of musical talent visiting this historic venue. Popular acts who once performed here (Peter Frampton, George Benson) now play elsewhere. With Peekskill slowly becoming the performing arts center of Westchester this should not be the case. This week Carl Palmer performed to a half filled auditorium. Who handles the show promotions here? While the concert was a loud disappointment (you can't replace the late Keith Emerson's keyboards with a guitarist) there should've been a much larger turnout - especially at $35 a ticket. Not too long ago this place closed its doors. Better get the right people in to turn this place around before the lights go out one final time... read more

Other than a worthwhile Arts in Education program and a beautiful, historic theater with sound and lighting to match, there's not much here. The local parking is metered and inconvenient, the handful of restaurants in the area close early and the adult programming is myopic at best, primarily focused on folk arts musicians, barely addressing the diverse local audience that spans from Ossining to Beacon. In spite of this, they manage to pack the house for the majority of their performances with a loyal commuting patron base. So you can't knock 'em for their business sense, despite their lack of commitment to the community, which has seen its largest growth in the Hispanic demographic. You're better off going to Beacon or Tarrytown. read more

My experience yesterday at the Paramount was a good one, but not fabulous. To start, WHY are you printing a playbill with no information about the show you are seeing??!!! Yesterday afternoon we took my 11 year old cousin to see the Nutcracker by the NY Theater Ballet, would I see it again eh. It was not horrible, but the dance company did a bad job telling the original story and to add the program had no information about the story, the dancers or the company: it was all adds! I do not recommend this "shortened" version of the nutcracker for any child, as they advertised. The company did an excellent job with costuming and colors, along with detailed sets. To add, I can also say the choreography was fabulous (speaking as a former ballet dancer) but, they lacked the ability to portray the original story and seemed to make it more of a romance? between Clara and the Nutcracker. Last time I checked Clara was supposed to be a child around 7ish in the story. Don't call yourself a theater company if you do not do a good job portraying theater...you are just dancers with a theme:) BACK TO THE THEATER, beautiful artwork and custom paintings: the head busts that glow over the mezzanine were a cool effect. From what I understand this place has been remodeled recently, bravo!!! It looks great, but the location stinks due to parking, it is all metered. There are also really no restaurants that are decent within walking distance for before or after the show. Maybe the theater should open a cafe? Overall the staff was nice and the acoustics of the theater were good, a huge plus so I would say I would go back. read more

i have been at the paramount hudson theater twice ,, first time was a bunch of years ago to see white lion and kixx which was great and fun and the second time which was last month to check out the fixx which was also great and fun. this theater in peekskill upper westchester is a landmark gem and i am hopeful they will stay opened .the makeover the theater went thru over 10 years ago has improved the place very much with better sound, lighting , seating and the ceilings and walls have been restored to its grand past . any section of seating from main level to the top sides gives a decent viewing of stage .parking can be tough but a few blocks away it's plenty available , concession stand is ok but i prefer to grab a bite after the concert in the area or back in white plains which is less then a 30 minute drive . i enjoy coming here over the more costly beacon theater and radio city and the quality of acts are just as good . it's better to get tickets in advance via online as it can get a bit crowded the evening of event . overall this landmark theater is worth a visit and the diverse type of acts will appeal to many of us. read more

I just saw Sit Down, Shut Up, and Eat. It was good but the review is for the theater itself. It's an impressive 85-year old building where every seat is good one. It's not to be missed. We've heard many great concerts and performers at this wonderfully restored venue in the past... After the exit of previous dismal management, we are still waiting for some signs of renewal--not hopeful. Additional fees levied to high base prices make current ticketing way out of line compared to other successful HV venues. Outrageous, as the management should be trying to woo audience back, not alienate them. We won't be going back until better acts are booked, and more competitive pricing structure is in place. read more
