Wow, really good toasted sandwiches from this little convenience store. Ordered the Napoli two days in a row when staying at the Americana next door. So good, and reasonably priced. It's a bit bizarre when entering the establishment...it's a cross between small convenience store and sandwich heaven. This is the best deli in Arlington/Crystal City/Alexandria Not only was the sandwhich I ordered delicious but the lady (who I believe is the owner) was absolutely friendly and made me feel as if I were inside her very own kitchen and I was her special guest. What this place has that many MANY other food places doesn't have is that kind of customer interaction and it wasnt because she was making up for bad quality food either. So glad I looked at Yelp before we headed out of the Embassy Suites with our 2 kids. This place was amazing. The kids split a turkey and swiss on wheat and kept saying it was the best sandwich they have ever had! The owner was so kind and nice to all of us and loved on my kids like she was their grandma. We couldn't walk out with a bunch of candies from all over the world. She also carries convenince store items and stuff you would need if you forgot it on your trip. The gyro was fantasitic!! Delicious!! I was very impressed with Paramount Cafe. The sandwiches are delicious and unique and the service is so friendly and fantastic! I visited recently to get sandwiches to-go for my fiancé and I. I ordered the Pastrami Panini (pastrami, Swiss cheese, sundried tomato, coleslaw, and Russian dressing on focaccia bread) for myself and LOVED it! I'm obsessed with all those ingredients and thought they tasted well together. I also got my fiancé a sandwich - the Thanksgiving Day (oven gold turkey, provalone cheese, lettuce, tomato, and cranberry sauce on ciabatta bread) and he really enjoyed it as well. The cafe is located in the Paramount apartment building and there's some parking (limited) outside. I tried the pastrami sandwich, which was quite delicious. The Russian dressing gave a unique, tangy flavor that paired well with the pastrami. The price was pretty reasonable as well. This place is a hidden gem. Came across it when looking for something light to take on the plane. The cafe is ran by the same woman who owns the cleaners next door. So if you don't see her in the sandwich shop, don't fret. Just go next door and they will take care of you. Kim is super sweet and puts the time and love into making the sandwich just right. Gyro is very good, sauce is not spiced but good. We walked here 5 min from the metro station because of the 5 star reviews. I had the Thanksgiving turkey sandwich with cranberry jelly and cheese. Ask for the cream cheese added, it adds a nice creamy texture to the deli style sliced turkey. We are from Delaware and are spoiled with fresh pulled turkey and stuffing sandwiches there so I rate it a 4. Don't be deceived by the "mom and pop" grocery store appearance. Told him My husband and I would like to order a sandwich from Paramount. So Next this sweet little lady pops up front and is thrilled to make me a sandwich. She opens the door for me too! They have a nice range of hot and cold sandwiches including panini. I had the pastrami panini and it was delicious. I was especially happy with the roasted red peppers used inside the panini. I knew I'd be hungry later because I was on pacific time and asked for a Manhattan sandwich for later. The owner was nice enough to offer the condiments on the side to keep the bread from getting soggy. I had it for breakfast this morning and it was amazing as well. Very friendly shopkeeper and they have general grocery and travel items to pick up for those visiting DC metro area. I grabbed an umbrella because I forgot to pack one. This is a mother - son run place, all the sandwiches made with care and love, rare in this day and age. This place was a terrific find! We stayed at the nearby Embassy Suites and there is not much within walking distance-- so we read the reviews and picked up dinner here. Delicious! We had several sandwiches, all made with fresh, high quality ingredients, and picked up a few treats as well. Several people came in to pick up coffee drinks to go that looked great while we were there. The woman who runs the business and prepares the sandwiches is a treasure-- she welcomes you with a smile and when she tells you she is making your sandwiches with love, she means it. The store also has beer, wine, chocolates, ice cream, and basic necessities. It is a worthy destination for anyone staying in Crystal or Pentagon City or working nearby at the Pentagon. It's a convenience store as well but the lady that works there knows her way around a sandwich! They got simple breakfast sandwiches but the quality of the ingredients this lady used and the effort you see her put into making you a sandwich, you just know you're in for something great. I only wish I lived in this area so I could go there more often. The fresh mozzarella on my sandwich mixed with the pesto was to die for, then combining the flavors of the fresh veggies, it was just pure bliss. Also, the iced coffee is bangin'. It is in the bottom floor of an apartment complex and there is VERY limited parking in the lot. You can park in the spots marked "Grocery/Cleaners". This is not made clear but I popped my head into the store and asked the cashier before we parked. The customer service was top notch and the lady working couldn't have been sweeter. We actually ate our entire meal before we paid because she wanted us to eat it fresh and sit at our table while we waited. The little grocery was cute but didn't have much stuff.
