The best thing I ate this month was Lapu Lapu's chorizo breakfast sandwich, which is really Filipino longanisa and soooo delicious. Perfect yolky egg that dripped throughout. Crispy cheesy tots to go with it. The real difficulty is not also buying the glimmering donuts, cakes, and sweet breads from Gwenie's, also inside the small shop. Just give in and know you'll be eating most of your daily calories and carbs there. Worth it. Lapu Lapu is about a 7-minute walk from the Pentagon City metro station, and there are only about 10-12 bar-style seats inside. We managed to snag seats for our group of four, but be prepared to take food to go.
Across the street from Costco in the same space as Filipino bakery Gwenie's Pastries is Lapu Lapu with breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Popping in early, I ordered their Spam breakfast sandwich and my nine-year-old daughter got the Sausage one. Both sandwiches are HUGE. It was too much for my daughter, but I loved the Spam one. It's messy, but very filling and tasty. There are a few places to sit inside. They also have cold water in a jug for all to enjoy.
After a morning workout, I decided to get some breakfast at Lapu Lapu. It is a cozy little eatery co-located with Gwennie's Bakery. Both have Filipino cuisine inspired menus and the first thing you notice is how warm and cozy it feels in the space. My egg and cheese sandwich was perfection. The eggs were fluffy and lightly salted.I loved the toasted brioche bun and the presentation in the cute half- box format. The menu looks great for lunch and the bakery had a lot of colorful cookies and pastries. I am looking forward to another visit and highly recommend that others go as well.
Stopped by for a quick snack and ended up enjoying much more than that. We had the chicken lumpia, the Lapu-Lapu smash burger, and ube ice cream to balance out the savory food. We weren't surprised that the food would be good, but we were surprised by how fresh the ingredients were and how satisfying the portions ended up being. For the price, quality, and quantity of the food, this place is definitely a great find. I'm not usually a burger person, but this one really hit the spot. This is mostly a grab-and-go type of store, but they do have shared dining with Gwenies if you choose to eat there later. The service is simple, order, wait, and mostly self-service. The location is easily accessible from Costco and within walking distance of the . Parking might be an issue since only street parking is available.
The service here is great! It was my first time and I wasn't sure what to order. The guy behind the counter was so helpful and didn't steer me in the wrong direction. The space is shared with Gwenie's Pastries and they have some seating inside. I ended up ordering the Bistek and I devoured it with the quickness. It was soo good with the fried egg and pickled onions. I can't wait to go back and try more.
This is not my new favorite Filipino breakfast spot! It is MY MEW FAVORITE BREAKFAST SPOT OF ALL BREAKFAST SPOTS! The menu is amazing and not overwhelming , the service is kind and helpful, and overall the restaurant is small, quant even. There are not many seats, literally there is only on true table and the remaining seating is bar style. My recommendation is to bring a jacket and save your seat before you order. And remember this is a shared location so there is an amazing bonus because Gwenie's Pastries (another five star) is on the premises. Run don't walk to Lapu Lapu, and appreciate the history behind the name. Yummy!!'
This place was amazing. Loved everything I had here and now have to return to try out the rest. I got an order of the lumpia, short rib burger and the tots with Parmesan as well as a panda latte. Everything was absolutely delish and the burger had such nice flavors working really well between the meat and the pickled vegetable and sauce. Highly recommend going here and would guess you can't pick a bad option on the menu. The restaurant is small and seating can be a challenge it seems so be ready to take it to go!
I finally returned after a wonderfully hosted Yelp event recently! This second visit did not disappoint. The place was hopping during lunch on Sunday! This is a perfect grab and go spot, but many people opted to stay and eat inside. Friend and I had to wait for an extra chair or stool seating against the windows. I honestly hope they will eventually move into a bigger space to accommodate more customers (but stay in Pentagon City or move closer to DC, please!!). I ordered the chorizo sandwich. Let's be clear, the sausage patty is actually longanisa, a sweet and spiced combination that is much different than the taste of chorizo. Also between the two buns were a super runny egg and sauce, so make sure you have plenty of napkins nearby. This was number one on my list to try and I loved it! I would definitely keep making that trek from DC to Pentagon City for Lapu Lapu and Gwenies since this is the closest location to me now. Yes, it's worth the trip and you can go to the mall.
The bottom line: amazing unctuous burgers, sandwiches, and shakes (are what I had, but there's so much more to try). The smash burger was a smash hit, ube milkshake was uber good (ube is my new favorite color), and lumpia were hot and crispy. The pork sangwich was also juicy and drip lick worthy. The buns were stand out, the food was fast and the servers were friendly. It's a small place with a counter and a couple of tables, but eating it hot and fresh was worth it. Will definitely be back!
As I went searching this place called Lapu Lapu, I didn't realize it was split cafe. On the left side it's bakery called Gwenie's Pastries and on the right it's Lapu Lapu. I ordered three items: 1) Bistek 2) Chicken Lumpia 3) Lapu Smashed. Both burgers were tender, juicy and delicious. The bistek was a lemon soy marinated ribeye topped with a fried egg, cheese, pickles, lettuce and garlic adobo mayo and the lapu smashed was a double waygu patties, cheese, caramelized onions, pickles, lettuce and kuya burger sauce. They both come with thin tater tots with a choice of three seasoning so I chose one with Romano cheese and the other with Cajun seasoning which came other a dipping sauce. The chicken lumpia was crispy, delicious and serve with a sweet chili sauce. Be careful of your first bite since they just came out of the fryer. All staff members are extremely friendly, energetic and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was comfortable with limited of seatings but manageable. I will make another visit to try other items on their menu. They also have another location in Gaithersburg
Everything we had at Lapu Lapu was amazing! The lumpia was my favorite, but we also loved the bistek and chorizo breakfast sandwiches, and the spuds were perfectly crisp. The whole menu looked great, and we were too full for dessert. We will absolutely be back to try more. The desserts looked incredible. I can't wait to try them.
You cannot go wrong with anything you order on the menu! My husband and I ordered the Spam Burger and he also ordered an Ube Oreo Milkshake. The burger is packed with spam, scrambled eggs, gouda cheese, arugula, and lapu lapu sauce. I was able to save half to eat later and it was still just as good as it was when it was fresh. The milkshake is creamy without being heavy. I wish we had one in NJ because I'm already craving another burger from here!

BOMB DOT COM FILIPINO FUSION EATS! Looking for something yummy to fuel you, before enjoying the history Washington DC offers? Lapu Lapu (named after THEE Philippines Legendary Warrior) is definitely worth considering if you enjoy the Filipino Cuisine! This eatery isocated nearby, in Pentagon City, in the outskirts of Washington DC proper. We drove by car and yelp directions were on point, coming from Foggy Bottom. Street parking only, unless you wanna use the Costco parking area across the street. Luckily we scored a space (note.there is parking fees by QR code)! The interior has a modern motif, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Lapu Lapu actually shares the location with Gwenie's Pastries, which is convenient to indulge in more Filipino inspired yummies! Enough chismis! Let's EAT! CHORIZO SANDWICH (aka FILIPINO LONGANISA): Thee BEST sandwich we had during our visit to DC!!! BEST-EST!!! Our family loves Filipino longganisa and a sammie is a great way to enjoy this! This Longanisa Patty hits just the same as a sweet Pampanga Longanisa Sausage. Love the perfectly runny egg that made the sandwich a lil messy, so it's a good thing we ate it in the eatery! Paksiw in this instance is pork, and this Braised Pork is very similar to pulled pork, with a touch of sweetness. I'm not much of a pulled pork person, but she enjoyed it! UBE SOFT SERVE: Lovely purple hue that Ube is associated with. Tall serving and Tasty! No fake aftertaste with this one. Great way to start and/or finish a meal! VERY EASY RECOMMENDATION! Delicious and unique breakfast sandwiches! We ordered three sandwiches and some spuds to go, and everything tasted great. Bistek: This sandwich had a similar taste to a philly cheesesteak. It was savory and rich. Definitely a hearty sandwich. Paksiw: This was super flavorful and reminded me of a pulled pork bbq sandwich. The runny egg yolk really complimented the flavors, and the best bites included the egg yolk in the center. Chorizo con papas burrito: This was my favorite, but I do love a breakfast burrito. The tots in the burrito were so yummy, and the tortilla was fresh and perfectly crisped on the outside. Loved the burrito! Spuds: We tried the regular and the Cajun. Lapu Lapu is a co venture with Gwenies on one side and Lapu Lapu on the other. this location is across the street from the Pentagon City Costco. So belive that you can get a tasty breakfast before buying you hotdog. The staff is super friendly and knowledgable with the menu. I took some bites off my husband's cornbeef hash sando with hash browns. the sandwich is very tasty. it is on a soft bun and is not greasy. the hash browns are like the ones you can get from burger king. You can get a seasoning on them that makes a huge difference. I'm so happy to see the Filipino representation in Pentagon City. parking can be a mess if you're not planning to park in the Costco Lot. read more

Just as good as their Gaitherburg, MD location! Gwenie's Pastries share the space with them which is nice if you want filipino goodies. The staff is friendly and efficient. Be sure to grab a punch card for both sandwich and soft serve! I always get the bistek breakfast sandwich and spuds (fried potatoes). The ribeye inside the sandwich is so juicy and flavorful, and the garlic adobo mayo is chef's kiss - I order it on the side to dip The spuds. The cheese spuds are my go-to and it comes with Lapu Lapu Sauce which was also yummy! I also finally tried the ube soft serve, and loved it!! read more
Honestly, I really enjoyed the breakfast sandwiches. They're a bit pricey for breakfast sandwich so it won't be somewhere I would go frequently, but every now and again when I'm craving a solid breakfast sandwich I'll swing by. They have a cafe and bakery goods, it's a Filipino spot. I ordered: Chicken Lumpia 7/10 - really good, but very soggy in the to go order so the taste was a bit off. Also, the meat inside reminded me of pre-made egg rolls etc... my Filipino friend made them for me before and it didn't taste homemade like hers The Bacon, Egg, and Cheese breakfast sandwich 9/10 The bread was almost like a Hawaiian roll, but looked like a hamburger bun. It was really good. The soft scramble cheesy eggs melted in my mouth. I'd definitely get this breakfast sandwich again! The avocado was extra, but it was fresh avocado sliced onto the Sandwhich. The baked goods looked delicious and they had many amazing looks beverages on the cafe list. They also seem to be good for Lunch. There Lapu smash burger looked really good The service was helpful and fast with getting the food out. I probably waiting about 10 mins, but it wasn't busy. I think I spent around $25 which shocked me for breakfast not gonna lie it must've been the Lumpia and added on avocado that took me to a $25 breakfast. No drink included. read more
I'm so glad that there is now a Filipino store with Filipino pastries, drinks (refer to my gwenies review for more info) and sandwiches. I absolutely loved the longanisa sandwich with the runny egg. The portion size was pretty large as well. Services is pretty good they brought my sandwich to my seat. The space is relatively small so it does get packed quickly and there's a column in the center of the seating area. I definitely want to try their lumpia when I come back. read more
A huge group of us stopped by for lunch this past Sunday since we heard that Lapu Lapu is now in Pentagon City! Also, in the same interior as Gwenie's! While some of us waited for our food from Lapu Lapu to come out, we also waited in the Gwenie's line for pastries and drinks . FILIPINO CLASSICS: SPAM - 13 This was delicious and full of unique, savory flavors, but it was incredibly messy to eat. The soft scrambled eggs in this sandwich were probably one of the best I've eaten -- it was creamy and light, and mixed well with the smoked gouda cheese. The Lapu Lapu sauce was a bit sweet from what I remembered. The slice of spam was thin, but juicy and flavorful. Overall, solid sandwich, topped off with the softest bun. UBE SOFT SERVE - 6 My friend and I shared a cup of the soft serve. Very smooth and creamy with a lot of ube flavor, but a bit too sweet for me, so I let my friend eat most of it. Solid soft serve -- a few of my non-DMV friends always want to get this soft serve when they're in town. Solid location for a quick breakfast or lunch. Got to try some great food and sweet baked goods at this spot! Will say that parking is quite challenging here. The dining space indoors is very limited (maybe 10-12 seats?) Would recommend eating there, but since there was no space, we had to take it home. The savory food is the vendor in front when walking in, the sweets vendor is to your left. They have an assortment of drinks in the middle open fridge. The seating area is hidden behind the beam to your right. Ordered as below: Bistek (8/10): an Asian-inspired soy garlic philly cheesteak. Sounds weird but delicious Spuds (9/10): coin shaped Tater Tots. Lovely, crispy, great! Sausage egg and cheese ( 8/10): very creamy egg + delicious Ube custard donut (7/10): Not bad but was not a stand out donut for me Ube cake (9/10): Amazing and would come back just for the cake! light airy sweet and truly addicting. Would return if I'm in the area. Otherwise great food, and extremely friendly staff! read more
TL;DR A Filipino Spot that is serving up some amazing sandwiches that also houses a Gwenie's pastry shop. Drop everything and hit this spot and thank me later. Listen...Just go go go. Lapu Lapu was fire my forst time out. Now my wife is Filipino so if there a bit of bias sure but trust me it's really good. Out of the two sandwiches I tried the Bistek was the best. If you don't know what Bistek is it's beef marinated with soy and cooked with onions but the sandwich Lapu Lapu constructs has a Philly Cheesesteak type feel and it's just phenomenal. The Chorizo was really good has well too can't go wrong there it's more a sweeter sausage so keep that in mind. There is a Gwenie's bakery there and the ube latte and all the filled donuts is FIRE!!!!!!!! We had the ube filled and mango filled pure perfection. The service there was also excellent they were very patient and accommodating which made it more pleasant. Inside the restaurant is very clean and bright but it's not huge there is maybe one to two small tables then bar type seating the goes all around. Certainly a place to come to if you are in or passing through Arlington. read more

Located with Gwenie's bakery and so nice to have the option to try vietnamese cafe items and sandwiches! Lapu lapu has a lot of different sandwich options but I decided to try out the bistek this time. Bistek - Meat is soft and overall all the flavors work so well together! I really loved it but it's pretty pricey for the size. Maybe that's fine though since they really pile on the meat. it's not instant grab and go, i think they make it fresh since i had to wait a few minutes after ordering but i prefer a fresh sandwich anyways! Would definitely come back. Only minor complaint, it's a bit too suacy where the end of the sandwich becomes a soggy. 4/5 read more
Delicious and unique Filipino style breakfast sandwiches. I got the chorizo and the paksiw. Chorizo was my favorite as it had perfect sweet and saltiness. The paksiw was also tasty but a bit too sweet for my preference. Inside the restaurant is actually shared with Gwenies Pastries and I absolutely love being able to order pastries and a coffee while waiting for the sandwiches. SO FREAKIN GOOD!!! Steak egg and cheese is like a 10/10. Eggs are perfectly soft, meat is flavorful, pickled onions add the right tang, it's amazing. Delicious!!!! That bistek sandwich was out of this world. I was skeptical about the chicken lumpia (wanted pork) but wow! It was the best I've had in the area. The space is small with limited seating but good grief it is delicious. The staff was welcoming, patient and very friendly. Partnered with Gwenie's Pastries, you can get a great meal and dessert afterwards. This is a must-try spot in DMV. read more

It was very clean inside and very cute! The cashier was very polite and helpful too. We ordered the spam sandwich and the sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich. The eggs were so soft and creamy in both sandwiches. We may not have the best pictures for them, but these sandwiches were delicious! We couldn't eat them hot but they were still phenomenal lukewarmish. Everyone should have one these! read more
Wowwwwww the chorizo (longanisa) sandwich is so delicious. My friends got the paksiw and and the bacon/egg/cheese and those were also good. We all loved the pandesal bun! I need to go back to try their burger. Not a lot of searing though so don't plan to eat in with a big group! It was a bit of a struggle with five people. read more
Came here during the day, the store was pretty packed but the service was quick so the line went fast. We came here for the lumpia and weren't disappointed. Crunchy and tasty. I've returned to try a different sandwich each time and I've loved them all so far! The bistek was so comforting and the onions really tied it together. It's a tie between that and the chorizo right now fur be. I liked the pajsuw but the egg was a little overdone - great neat every time, though! I definitely need to try the yits next time because they look fantastic. You really can't go wrong with any of the Filipino sandwiches here, and I'm excited to try the corned beef and the spam next time. Gotta love supporting Filipino businesses! Having these two wonderful businesses together in one place is super convenient. They're located across the street from Costco and are easy to find. When you walk in, you're met with the smell of fresh food and are enticed into trying every little thing! There's some tall seats alone the walls and window, as well as some normal-height seats if you want to eat in-store. The workers are friendly and helpful. They're also very quick and efficient. As for the food, I loved them all! I'm just sad I couldn't fit more into my stomach haha. If you're lucky with timing, you may even get some baked goods fresh out of the oven from Gwenie's. I'm now on a mission to try each of Lapu Lapu's sandwiches! If you come here, here's my advice: Don't be shy to try new flavors here. It may just end up becoming your new favorite thing! read more

Tried Lapu Lapu in Arlington and wow... what an incredible experience! The breakfast sandwich with chorizo was bursting with flavor, beautifully prepared, and tasted even better than it looked. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the whole place has a great vibe. It's the kind of spot you walk out of already planning your next visit. Located inside the same shop as Gwenie's Pastries. We got the corned beef sandwich and it was sooo good. It came out pretty quickly too. The corned beef wasn't too salty and the eggs were so fluffy and cooked perfectly. The crispy potatoes bits were the perfect addition as well. Definitely would come back! Drinks are from Gwenie's. read more
