I finally returned after a wonderfully hosted Yelp event recently! This second visit did not disappoint. The place was hopping during lunch on Sunday! This is a perfect grab and go spot, but many people opted to stay and eat inside. Friend and I had to wait for an extra chair or stool seating against the windows. I honestly hope they will eventually move into a bigger space to accommodate more customers (but stay in Pentagon City or move closer to DC, please!!). I ordered the chorizo sandwich. Let's be clear, the sausage patty is actually longanisa, a sweet and spiced combination that is much different than the taste of chorizo. Also between the two buns were a super runny egg and sauce, so make sure you have plenty of napkins nearby. This was number one on my list to try and I loved it! This place is located on a busy street but has ample parking at the Costco across. It was super busy and since it was a bit of a small space, it got cramped pretty quickly. My family and I ordered 3 drinks - the ube milkshake, sweet tea, and iced salted caramel latte. All drinks were decent but very pricey in my opinion (sweet tea was $6!!) For food we ordered - bistek sandwich, chorizo burrito, and some pastries. The chorizo burrito had a nice crunch from the hash browns and love love love the fluffy eggs!! So belive that you can get a tasty breakfast before buying you hotdog. The staff is super friendly and knowledgable with the menu. You can get a seasoning on them that makes a huge difference. I'm so glad that there is now a Filipino store with Filipino pastries, drinks (refer to my gwenies review for more info) and sandwiches. I absolutely loved the longanisa sandwich with the runny egg. The portion size was pretty large as well. Services is pretty good they brought my sandwich to my seat. The space is relatively small so it does get packed quickly and there's a column in the center of the seating area. I definitely want to try their lumpia when I come back. read more

Lapu Lapu was fire my forst time out. Now my wife is Filipino so if there a bit of bias sure but trust me it's really good. Out of the two sandwiches I tried the Bistek was the best. If you don't know what Bistek is it's beef marinated with soy and cooked with onions but the sandwich Lapu Lapu constructs has a Philly Cheesesteak type feel and it's just phenomenal. The Chorizo was really good has well too can't go wrong there it's more a sweeter sausage so keep that in mind. There is a Gwenie's bakery there and the ube latte and all the filled donuts is FIRE!!!!!!!! We had the ube filled and mango filled pure perfection. The service there was also excellent they were very patient and accommodating which made it more pleasant. Inside the restaurant is very clean and bright but it's not huge there is maybe one to two small tables then bar type seating the goes all around. Loved the ube soft serve. I don't know of any other place in Nova that has this. That alone makes this place worth checking out. There is a section focused on hot sandwiches made to order - think egg and chorizo- and another section that is focused on drinks like calamansi and baked goods like an ube loaf. A meaningful name to the store - Lapu Lapu, the name of one of the rulers of the island of Mactan who successfully fought off Spanish colonization during the time of Ferdinand Magellan. UBE SOFT SERVE - 6 My friend and I shared a cup of the soft serve. Very smooth and creamy with a lot of ube flavor, but a bit too sweet for me, so I let my friend eat most of it. Filipino sandwich concept? I've never witnessed one until now and it's an absolute hit. The Bistek sandwich tastes similar to a cheesesteak, but nestled in between these fluffy pandesal buns. Lapu lapu has a lot of different sandwich options but I decided to try out the bistek this time. Bistek - Meat is soft and overall all the flavors work so well together! I really loved it but it's pretty pricey for the size. Maybe that's fine though since they really pile on the meat. it's not instant grab and go, i think they make it fresh since i had to wait a few minutes after ordering but i prefer a fresh sandwich anyways! I've returned to try a different sandwich each time and I've loved them all so far! The bistek was so comforting and the onions really tied it together. It's a tie between that and the chorizo right now fur be. I liked the pajsuw but the egg was a little overdone - great neat every time, though! I definitely need to try the yits next time because they look fantastic. When you walk in, you're met with the smell of fresh food and are enticed into trying every little thing! There's some tall seats alone the walls and window, as well as some normal-height seats if you want to eat in-store. The workers are friendly and helpful. They're also very quick and efficient. As for the food, I loved them all! I'm just sad I couldn't fit more into my stomach haha. If you're lucky with timing, you may even get some baked goods fresh out of the oven from Gwenie's. I've always been meaning to try Lapu Lapu in Kentlands so I was excited to see they opened a spot in Pentagon City! We tried the chorizo sandwich and spam sandwich, as well as the pandan latte and a couple pastries from Gwenie's. I really enjoyed the chorizo sandwich - it was piping hot and I liked the flavor of the chorizo patty, even though it was a bit on the sweeter side. It's also bigger than I expected and was definitely a good size for lunch. The pandan latte was super creamy and had a nice subtle pandan taste. For the pastries, I tried a mango doughnut and the baked sio pao. I can definitely see why Gwenie's is well-known for their doughnuts as it was super fluffy and had the perfect chew, even though I didn't eat it completely fresh. The mango flavor in the cream was a bit light but I did like it overall! The baked sio pao was also good and tasted similar to a Chinese bbq pork bun. Holy moly where has this place been my whole life? After walking by this shop nonstop and the smell enticing me I finally walked in and lo and behold I think I found my favorite donuts in the city.
