If you're looking for a local cafe, Paramo cafe serves a variety of drinks and desserts. I got an iced americano and tiramisu. The iced americano and tiramisu were alright, not the best I've had but it was decent and also a little pricy. During my visit, the cafe was really crowded so it was a bit hard to find seating when we got there. I think overall if you are not looking to go to a Tim Horton's or Starbucks and want to support local, Paramo Cafe is good to try! read more

Great little cafe. Parking was pretty tight and fuller than I expected for 1PM on a Saturday. Boyfriend got the red velvet latte but didn't know what red velvet was (chocolate and red food coloring) - tastes like a mocha. He said it was too sweet for him. My mother and I got Chai tea lattes and were very happy with ours. Great flavor, lots of foam, hot enough but not burn your tongue hot. Mother wished they would pull the tea bag out before serving. We also tried the tuxedo cheesecake. It was great and tasted as expected, 9/10 ( too sweet for me). An absolutely delightful cafe in North Edmonton. It's so wonderful to see local gems like this in our part of town. It's such a bright, inviting atmosphere. You could see a variety of people-friends, couples, students studying. There is a large variety of drink and treats available. My flat white was lovely and treats were delicious. Service was friendly. My only recommendation would be when it's close to closing time, instead of shouting that it is closing in 15 minutes, going to each table to gently remind them may be more tactful. read more

This is a really really nice room. Very high ceilings, lots of natural light and tons of electrical outlets for your laptops. They have a really cool feature which is a stacked bleacher type seating as if you were in a college rotunda or something similar. And all along each row of the bleachers are lots of plug ins for you electronics. I came here hoping to find a real nice coffee via a press, clover or even a pour over. But they don't offer such features, they really should because the space begs for it Their brewed coffee was ok, nothing exceptional, but better then most swill you'll find in the over abundant fast food places like Tim Horton's They have a exceptionally large selection of great pastries and cheesecakes, plus an extensive snack menu including sandwiches and other cafe style foods But it's the space and their massive patio that wins the day. If you want a place to sink into a chair or hang off a bleacher and just surf the web this is about as good as it gets in this section of Edmonton. read more

TL;DR: elegantly designed cafe with a very cohesive and contemporary approach. It is bright and the ambiance is very good. I particularly liked the elevated seating as it provided structure to the overall layout of the dining area. There is plenty of seating and the tables are kept clean. As for the food, it is great; I found the desserts to be really delicious and satisfying. The beverages were nice as well. I have visited here a couple of times and have really enjoyed the atmosphere. It is very casual and the noise-level is moderate but manageable. I appreciate the thought that was put into the decoration and overall appeal of the store. It is pleasant and adds tremendously to the cafe experience. In addition, the different seating options available from the couches to regular chairs is excellent. The service is usually friendly and approachable. I've had a single not-so-friendly encounter where the employee seemed quite irate but that's all. The service was decent then as well. I really like the lovely arrangement of their menu items at the front counter. I find it very good. As for the food, it is very tasty. I enjoyed the different desserts and items I have ordered and the quality is consistent. Venezuelan Chicken and Avocado on Naan: super scrumptious. I loved the flavour of the chicken and I thought it was nicely cooked. The Naan paired very well with the dish as a whole and the avocado tasted fresh. Honey Almond Cheesecake: a bit pricey but I really enjoyed this dessert. The cheesecake was quite light and also rich in terms of flavour. I liked the level of sweetness and it paired really nicely with the almonds. Blueberry Cheesecake: again, a bit on the pricey-end in terms of portioning. Personally, I was not a big fan of this one. The spread on top was gelatinous and did not taste very good. Honestly, it spoiled the whole dessert for me. Signature Hot Cacao: super good beverage! I really enjoy their hot chocolate here. I find that it's very good and satisfying. You really taste the chocolate! Matcha Latte: this drink is really nice. In terms of flavour, I really liked the strong matcha notes with the little bit of minty hit on the side. Very creamy and rich. Sweet Vanilla Cold Brew: I personally enjoy their cold brew here. The vanilla flavour is really nice and pronounced. It pairs really nice with the cream. I find that it's an excellent cold beverage. read more

I had the single greatest bagel I've ever had in my life here. Every other sandwich since had been a letdown, and I have craved that bagel ever since. I also had a strawberry smoothie, although it tastes a lot like a milkshake. Still very delicious and I want another one right now. If I lived in Edmonton, I'd probably go here every day. I must say that this place very much so has the vibe of the people who go there are regulars, everyone knows eachother and it's just a good relaxing time. This is a beautiful coffee shop! Just super asthetically pleasing, I haven't seen one like it and it's not overdone too - it's quite simplistic but its uniqueness makes this place really pretty. There's lots of parking, wifi, tons of outlets and tables, a huge menu, great coffee... Need I say more? Bonus too: the washrooms are both wheelchair accessible, so if anyone is looking for a great coffee shop and needs it well there you go! Coming in, I originally was just going to stick with my black Americano , which I did! But hours into some stressful studying and I found my boyfriend bringing back a hazelnut crossaint and an mnm cookie... Needless to say I was not upset about it. If you swing by this coffee shop and you're into hazelnut that is definitely a pastry you need to try - and have them heat it up! It makes all the difference! Like I said , the menu is HUGE and there were so many food items, cakes, pastries, coffees, teas - you name it! And I'll definitely have to come back to try some more. Regardless of the travel time this would be a prime study spot for you if you need it! A good cafe if you want to sit, drink coffee and get some work done. I went on a Sunday morning at 11 and it was quiet enough, but as the afternoon came it became surprisingly busy. I enjoyed the vanilla cold brew and a cookie, both were delicious. Paramo is my go-to place for coffee and great snacks in the North end. Their date bar, I.e. Matrimonial cake for Newfoundlander and Prairie kids, is really amazing. It's a very instagrammable coffee place, if you want to post an aesthetically pleasing cafe on your social media this is your place. They open early and close late. It's quite peaceful too, since most of the people that goes here usually studying or on their laptop doing business. You can come here for desserts after you go to Popeyes or Mt. Fuji if you don't want to go to Chatime or Cocos. Most of their baked goods are baked by the owner, she's a super nice lady. It's a family owned business so, it's very kid friendly. You must try their Baklava cake that the owner usually bakes, she has a lot of sweets and good desserts. However, the price is kind of expensive if you compare it to other cafes. The price of their macaroons are more expensive than the Duchess and in my opinion that is not worth it to spend almost $5 for two macaroons. Also, when I went there the first time the service was so bad like one of their baristas got a nasty attitude. The lady owner itself had to help us because their barista just passed us and totally ignored us. At first, I thought she was just new so she might be stress about her whole shift. But this happened again, an hour before they closed when my friend and I went and got some desserts and gave us a nasty attitude and start putting away their desserts. But besides all that, it's still a good café, the owners are nice and their Baklava cake is really good. read more

Met some coworkers at Paramo for the first time. It's a cute little cafe just off of 137ave and 97st (right across from Popeyes). Everything looks impeccably clean and it's set up nicely. I had a hot cacao which was soooo good (not too sweet). You can order various drinks as per the usual coffee shops. They also have tons of baking, soups and sandwiches that you can order. I didn't eat anything but I will for sure the next time I go! It's a great place to sit with friends. They have tons of plugins if you are working with a computer. The reason I took off a star is I didn't find their seating to be terribly comfortable. Their drinks are a higher price point (almost $5 for a medium hot cacao). They aren't franchised so it's not like they can keep costs lower and it was super yummy. I don't think I could afford a beverage every day, but definitely will be back with friends another time! I also took a photo of their loyalty card. Buy 8, get one free! In the end, if you're looking for a place to have a coffee date that's not one of the "usuals," definitely check out Paramo! read more
