With a 1.06 BBB rating, Vivint Smart Home is well-known for employing a large commission based door to door sales and high pressure, deceptive tactics. Monty, the marketing manager with an incredible offer, started off friendly enough. Then came the invasive questions. "What do you do? How many smart devices do you have? Who's your alarm company? How much do you pay? It's wireless? The WiFi could go down. It's wired? Someone could cut the phone line.. We have smart thermostats." I have 2. "Vivint is compatible!" Monty pulled out his fancy iPad which showed pics of him smiling with families, impressive flood lights that follow intruders, garage door openers, cameras, large HD screens. Everything but the cost. When I said I'd prefer to read the reviews first Monty pulled up the Forbes rating. All the while, he kept trying to come inside so we could "talk." After about 25 minutes of upsell attempts, he ball-parked an $80 monthly quote. I asked for a card. "It's virtual." Monty wouldn't email me or leave info so I could have time to decide. Finally, I gave him a fake phone # to get him to leave! Vivint has settled multiple lawsuits. Impersonating salespeople steal personal info from consumers to apply for fraudulent loans to increase their commission. Bad credit? Reps find someone with a similar name and run their credit or add a cosigner without consent. Then the cosigner is contacted by a Vivint debt collector! Vivint paid millions for tricking customers into signing high-priced, multi-year contracts that were impossible to cancel. Vivint charges more than the contract says, sells faulty equipment, won't produce receipts, renews contracts without consent, misinforms customers about their cancellation policy and charges customers after they cancel. If a Vivint rep comes knocking, do not answer or give out any information. Buyer beware!!!

They were recommended to us by neighbors that had good experiences with them…read more We had researched and researched which surround sound system we wanted to go with our smart TV.... after a while, system overload and you don't know which is the best... We had focused in on a Bose system, mainly for their name recognition, but the Southern Acoustics techs recommended the Sonos ARC system, with sound bar, surround and sub-woofer speakers... We are so glad we took their recommendation. A wireless system that sounds incredible. Their techs recommended a wall mount system over the fireplace, and they took care of all of the ordering. They gave us the option of ordering the equipment ourselves, which, in hindsight, I wish we had done because it took them quite a while to get the equipment in. We could have gone the same day to Best Buy and bought it ourselves for the same price. They were professional, prompt and very respectful and courteous. They installed and then tuned the wireless system to our room. Now here is the rub. They mistakenly installed the ARC sound bar upside down on the mantle just below the TV. It is understandable how that could happen since the SONOS name is attached to the front of the speaker, and it reads SONOS forward and backwards, so it looked right when it was upside down. We never had a clue that it was upside down. Now, fast forward two years later. We installed a Direct-TV dongle on the TV, and that is when we noticed the ARC being upside down. The ARC has Dolby ATMOS upward firing speakers, so the sound WAS being compromised. I called their office and explained. The techs were out the next day to correct and re-tune the system, no charge. Great company that stands by their work. Definitely recommend them.

I looked at their system and retrieved the error message. I called back the third time and Bobbie answered. I told her who I was and she just sat there. I asked, can you hear me? She said Yeah! Wow, I am in customer service and I thought she does not need to be answering the phone. I explained that I had spoken with our landlord and this was the error message on his system. I asked her, do you know what that is, her response was very unprofessional, with a bad attitude. I'm sorry the first impression of a business is who answers the phone or who greets you. First: he accidentally broke an exterior light in 2 places but didn't tell me. I noticed it when I was looking at the fixture, which was completely smashed on two sides. I sent him a photo and he said he must have hit it with his ladder and offered to replace it. That's pretty difficult to miss hitting, but whatever. I asked if I could pay him to install another light that was broken on my front porch, of course I would pay for that. I ordered the light based off the part number. Partially my fault for not taking it out of the box to inspect it, but I had to leave the house and he installed the light. When I returned home I noticed the light was 2 times smaller than the other 2. I mean, wouldn't a professional ask a customer "did you notice the size difference", especially because it's so noticeable, before installing the light? My usual electrician certainly would have because it's his name and company reputation and he doesn't want something to look bad or be incorrect without reconfirming with me. Now I have to pay my usual electrician to uninstall the smaller light fixture and pay to have the correct size installed. I take responsibility on part of the issue m, but I expect more from people who take pride in their work and this issue impacted my overall satisfaction. Good job installing my Ring system. I've had a few issues with sensors installed incorrectly that I have been fixing myself. I won't use him again but I would recommend him, just double check his work before he leaves and don't expect any "extra effort" on his part. Definitely knows how to install the cameras and door locks and set up the Nest system. Zero issues there. Worked quickly and pleasant to work with. Trustworthy to leave alone in my house (which I'm usually weird about). So still impressed by him and most of the work he did for me.
