Great restaurant for families and pets! We ate there for Father's Day lunch and all of us enjoyed the food including our two dogs. There is a nice enclosed patio for outside dining. Will definitely be back! read more

We've been frequenting this spot for years now, with its close proximity to Clark, Westfield, and belligerent yellow-brick-road that is The Garden State Parkway. Their service has always been really good, but for better or worse, they changed some items on the menu the past couple years. Be sure to check out the daily specials. Especially the happy hour for teachers. Lord knows ya'll need it! AMIRITE?! What gets me here is the location. Sure a spot being tucked away is basically the definition of hipster, but behind a Target and Marshalls sounds like a dad joke waiting to happen. read more

I came here on a Sunday afternoon with a friend for lunch. The restaurant is large with a Prohibition era theme. It's not at all loud, making it a great place to catch up with friends. The food menu has elevated pub food such as short rib pappardelle, truffle fries, spicy poke tuna, and meat and cheese boards. They have a lot of craft beers on tap and a large selection of wines and cocktails. The staff was friendly and the service was fast. I ordered the turkey burger with pear slaw, fried carrot threads, and romaine. It was a very juicy, flavorful and one of a kind turkey burger. My friend was not as impressed with her crispy chicken sandwich - the chicken was very thin and over breaded. Paragon tap is definitely a solid choice if you're looking for a comfortable, vaguely upscale restaurant that has a variety of food everyone can enjoy. I'd absolutely come back. read more

Came here for a team lunch and it did not disappoint. We were a big group of 11, but surprisingly there were a lot of big groups during lunch. Perhaps it's because of the holiday season. Would highly recommend the appetizers - the portions are pretty big so you can share. We had the steak nachos (a bit spicy with jalapenos), the pretzel, margarhita flatbread, and truffle fries with aioli. They do a superb job with the truffle fries - perfectly crispy! For an entree I had the short rib - which was oh so tender! It came with mashed potatoes and vegetables. My coworkers enjoyed the gnocchi and scallops (note this was a huge portion!)) as well as the pappardalle with short rib (also a humongous portion of pasta and shortrib). Honestly though, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Paragon also has an extensive beer, wine and cocktail list. The food, drink and service were fantastic and hopefully we can come back soon! read more

Went for after work happy hour. Nice local bar, good variety of beers on tap. Live music was a plus. Can't say much about the food only ordered truffle fries- maybe a little salty? Prices were good, service was decent. read more

My favorite thing about this place is their beer selection- many great options to choose from! Sailors delight was perfect for the sour beer lovers. I would come back for drinks. Food was just okay- I don't think the ingredients tasted the freshest/most flavorful, but maybe it was just the day I went. My friend got the butternut ravioli and I got the veggie burger. Both were alright. The burger could have been a little firmer and seasoned more. Service was excellent though! read more

The menu at Paragon Tap is huge! They've got a wide variety of entrees, pastas, burgers, sammies, salads and more. And as the name implies, they also have a pretty epic selection of brews. This is a solid option if you are going to dinner with a large group or just don't know what you are in the mood to eat. We started off with an Italian flatbread pizza which was topped with tomatoes, mozz and pesto. For my main I ordered short rib pasta which came with several tender pieces of short rib, tomato sauce and portobello mushrooms served over pappardelle pasta. I also tried some of my mom's mac and cheese and it was really tasty! Dessert was fantastic - chocolate peanut butter cake and a mini pumpkin pie with toasted marshmallow and ice cream... yum. I also really enjoyed my sangria which came in a huge glass! Paragon Tap is a quality pick if you are looking for classic and easy to please food and drink in an inviting atmosphere. Next time I'd love to try out a burger! read more

Finally gave this spot another chance but just went to the bar area this time. I had mentioned in my last review, the appetizers are reasonably priced and good, it was the dinner that really failed to meet expectations and the price tag. I can't speak to the dinner now but to head to the bar area for some drinks and small bites, it's a really fun spot. We ordered the truffle parmesan fries and the warm pretzels as well as some drinks. I was surprised how many different cocktails they offered and there were a bunch of appetizers that caught my eye. I would definitely consider hanging out at this spot again to grab a drink and hang out with friends. It's been years but I'm glad to have come back and enjoyed myself. read more

Fantastic experience and bar tender! My wife and I started at the bar and had our 2 year old with us. The bar tender was best! He was engaged, made fantastic drinks, and got my daughter to laugh. I don't know why we've never been here but it's such a gem! Food-delish, drinks- delish, vibes- cool, staff- friendly, we loved it.

UPDATE: The manager Liz has reached out and was super concerned about our Mothers Day experience. Its so nice to know that management cares about the satisfaction of their customers. I can't wait to update this review to 5 stars in the future. I hate doing this, but we were really disappointed. We made Mother's Day reservations and it was a very simple pre-fixed menu (as expected for any restaurant on Mother's Day). We got there at 11am and didn't even get our coffee until 11:35. There was just 2 of us in our party and our very simple order of eggs, bacon and pancakes didn't' come to our table until almost 12:20. Not only was the food cold, but it tasted stale. I understand the restaurants are short staffed these days and I 100% support that, but not once did a manager come over and check on us. not once did the server apologize or even check on us while we waited.....and waited....and waited. A simple check on your customers is literally all it would have taken for us to not be so disappointed. but it wasn't the case. We were there well over 2 hours for eggs and coffee then had to chase someone down to get the check. It only gets 2 stars because when the server did eventually come over to us she was at least nice. Don't come here for any special occasions if you don't' want your day ruined. read more

One of my favorites!!! Great local eatery and bar with a great menu! Amazing staff and friendly atmosphere! We love this place!!!

$7 growlers during Happy Hour. Let's start with that. And a burger saturated in stout and a salad that has "shaken" in the name and is literally shaken right in front of you. And 1/2 off wine bottles on Mondays? Jersey City could use one of these! There was a Yelp Elite Event here a while back and everything was good. The same can be said of the mischief night outing I had here afterward. They also have martinis on the Happy Hour menu for like five bucks. FIVE bucks. MAKES YOU FORGET IT'S A SCHOOL NIGHT. read more

Checked this place based on the recommendation of a friend - good recommendation. Good menu with tons of choices from burgers to pastas to salads to steaks and an excellent beer/cocktail/wine list. Place gets busy on Saturday night but we were lucky to snag a time w/o a wait on a Saturday night. It gets a bit loud but otherwise very nice, slightly upscale, comfortable gastropub feel. They also have a huge bar. Burger ($12) was really good - well cooked and good flavor. Delicious brioche bun and good fries. I also had a cucumber mule ($9) - a cucumber version of the moscow mule - which I loved. Recommended when you are in the mood for some good cocktails or craft beer along w/a good meal. read more

This place is tucked behind the plaza in Clark. You can easily miss it if you didn't know where to look. I've been in that complex several times when I went to Target and didn't even realize this restaurant was there. My boyfriend and I made a reservation, only because we didn't know how busy they would get. They had a good amount of outdoor seating, but of course they fill up quickly, so we've opted to sit indoors. My boyfriend wasn't sure what beer to get, so the waitress was nice enough to give him a couple of samples of what they had on tap. We got the lobster fritters and voodoo wings for the appetizer. Obviously our eyes were bigger than our stomachs because after eating the appetizer, we were already full. The lobster fritters were pretty good, the coleslaw that came with it was a bit bland though. The voodoo wings were ok, for some reason I was expecting it to be spicy, but there wasn't really any kick. For our entre, we both got burgers and truffle fries as our sides. The fries were very good and so were the burgers. It was juicy and cooked just right. Lastly, for dessert, I got the tiramisu and he got oreo parfait. Both was a good ending to our meal. Neither was too sweet. I did wish the service was a bit better, since it took us a while to get our check and boxes for our food. Everyone was running around, there wasn't much people on the side we were sitting at, but maybe they were busy on the other side? However, the manager (I think), kept checking up on us before and during our meal, so that was nice. Overall, I would say it was a nice experience. If you're in the area, I would check it out. read more

Came here on a fluke from PA. Me and the hubby were heading to our son's basketball game at Caldwell University. Unfortunately we ran into car problems before we could make it to the school and had to stop in the Target shopping center to get assistance which eventually ending up being a tow truck. UGGG! When we called our insurance company (for the tow) they informed us it would be at least a 45-60 minute wait. We weren't in the mood for shopping so we decided to grab something to eat. Paragon looked like an upscale restaurant from across the parking lot so I googled it real quick and felt at ease it was a more casual place. When you enter, one side is the restaurant, other side is a bar with high top tables We opt for the bar side to watch the Sunday night games while sipping on their IPA beer. The hubby went for the Flying Dog Bloodline Orange beer and I went for the Moscow Mule. For our entrée's we both went for burgers: Lamb Burger and Regular Burger. The burgers were moist and juicy. The steak fries were tasty. Our waiter was friendly and checked on us frequently. At one point, a gentleman, maybe a manager stop at our high top table to make sure we were waited on. Always nice to see management come out to make sure customers are satisfied. Thanks Paragon for making what was a crazy unexpected Sunday into a relaxing ride back home to PA. read more

I gave paragon another try and came with family one and find their food to be pretty good this time. Maybe my last entree selection was just a bad batch. Tom, Dom, Willie, Ed, & Mike!!! This place is a hidden GEM! I found it through a YELP recommendation and I'm so glad they targeted me. The service is incredible and the food is amazing, we now go at least once per week. Dom has served us every time with precision and personality, and manager Ed stops by our table each time to check in and make local beer recommendations. We feel very welcomed and appreciated each time we visit and we've started bringing friends here as our new go-to spot. The lobster corn fritters and the truffle fries are definite "must try" items; and I can honestly say that we've NEVER had any item from the menu that tasted less than perfect. A++++ read more

The food here was great! I was a little bummed about not being able to eat outside. It was 6:30 on a Friday evening in May, and they were too full for two of us. Their outdoor areas is pretty small so don't go their at any prime hour on a nice day expecting a seat outside, especially with a group. I got the prime rib grilled cheese and I LOVED it... the prime rib was seasoned very well and I loved the combination of flavors between the prime rib, egg, cheese, and arugula. i was satisfied after just half too so definitely a great portion if you're pretty hungry. The truffle fries were good too, I'd prefer slightly less oily but they're fries so what could I expect... flavor was great! Our waiter was friendly but the speed of getting our food was the best part. We'll definitely be back. read more

Paragon is one of my favorite spots for a great selection of rotating craft beers and good food. I love craft beers and Paragon has perhaps the best selection in this region of NJ. The interior is very nicely designed and decorated. The ambiance is nice, and the bar is great for watching sports. It has a comfortable feel to it. The draft beer offerings also change so there is a new selection each visit. The food is very tasty and well prepared, and there're lot options on menu. What I also like is that the French fries are always fresh and hot, the sign of a chef and kitchen who care about great food and service. We had food while sitting at the bar, with one round of drinks. The bartenders were friendly. It was around $60 for 2 appetizers, 2 beers and 1 mixed drink. This is a midrange priced restaurant, but the extra dollar or two per item is well worth the visit. read more

This spot is in a great location that I'm sure gets plenty of walkins but after my recent to-go order, I won't find myself returning. As a non meat eater, I get super excited when I see a veggie burger on the menu. This one unfortunately was nothing to rave about. The patty- wayy too thick, I didn't know what a messy meal i was in for and to top it is, the taste was bland and the fries soggy. Overall, mehh. Maybe it was just a day. read more

Came here recently with one of my friends on a busy Saturday night and managed to grab two spots at the bar. First thing I noticed was their vast list of craft beers which I really appreciate! I do wish there was a wit beer on tap but since it's winter, I understand it isn't as popular right now. Unsure of what beer to get Ernie, the manager, stepped in and gave us both a sample of two different beers of tap after asking us what we were in the mood for. He hit the nail right on the head and we both went with pints of each recommendation. My friend and I ordered the buffalo chicken dip which was really good as well as the portobello mushroom tacos which were delicious! Super flavorful and tender - I definitely will be getting those again. We wanted something sweet so we decided to get their mud pie mason jar which was so rich and decadent. The layers of whipped cream, mouse and cookies was a perfect way to end the night. A warm and welcoming environment, Paragon was a great place to visit on a cold winter Saturday night. Service was on point and everything we ate was delicious. I'll definitely come back to try some more entrees as they had a large menu to offer. Can't wait to return! read more

Was our ( 4 ABC retire's) first visit to Paragon for lunch today and it was great. Mostly burgers but we all enjoyed it. Our waitress, Sofia was a delight. It was a pleasant reminder of the general good will shown by the younger generation, and provided a return to the "good old days" of our careers. Thanks to all. John read more

I always turn to yelp for the best places in town, and this was up there! Had to come check it out. Took a seat at the bar and ordered their Hot and Fiery Margarita, which sadly was quite sweet. But, who doesn't love a margarita anyway? I enjoyed the games on tv while sipping with some good company, and scanning over a delicious menu... life's good! It was rather hard to decide what to eat but we made the right choices. Pork shoulder wings, sticky, salty, sweet, tender, and honestly quite addicting. It has the smallest hint of soy which makes your tongue sing!!! Holy crap. And that southwestern burger, was kick ass! Little bacon, blue cheese, and French fries, classic and delicious. This is a great place for a date, or hanging with friends. Their cocktail menu is quite enticing, I saw someone order a pumpkin pie martini which looked so sweet, but delicious! read more

RUDE! And the food is not even great, but you can deal with less than stellar food when the service is good. I used to go here often when I first moved my into the area business since it's so close (the parmesan fries were great); but after the flavorless salmon I went less. One time I went the waitress took forever, talked to her friends that were dining near me, and got several things wrong on my order. When the main guy (don't know if he's the owner or manager) asked me if everything was okay, and I said I had asked for an order of parm fries, not a side, he made it seem like whatever. I walked in there a few times and they stare at me like they're too good to speak and waiting for me to take their order like J work there or something. They don't have to ever worry about me patronizing them again, I'll take my black dollars somewhere else. I don't care how close my business is to them. read more

I'm a big fan! Went here to celebrate a friends engagement and will be back to celebrate her birthday. Nice spot.

Found this place on Yelp- was looking for a place to have lunch and cocktail with my galpal in the Clark area. Place is located right off of exit 136 - in the Target/Marshalls parking lot- tucked away in the corner. Wouldn't notice it unless you were looking for it to be honest. Place has bar side and restaurant side. Service was ok. Lady bartender was good! Pumpkin martinis was good but DAMN the Pecan pie martinis was amazing. Sweet but delicious- and memorable . We tried the tuna tartare app and it was spot on! So good! Not many places that I enjoy their Tuna Tartare. My friend had the vegan meatballs with spaghetti squash - it's basically falalfel balls in a light tomato sauce and the spaghetti squash. I was expecting more than what came out to be honest. I had the fish tacos- came with a set of 3 and it was really good! Would def come back Had a good selection of beer, cocktails - has a good range of food for everyone to enjoy. THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE SPOT EVER ON THIS PLANET. Sorry for the caps but that's how excited I am about finding this place. I went last night (Sunday) and it was pretty quiet as it was late. The kitchen closes at 9 pm and we were there 8:30 pm. I ordered the Blood Orange Side Car cocktail, which was presented to me in a chilled copper martini glass. I was a little weary because the bartenders looked super young. But let me just say, this cocktail was out of this world. Then my date ordered the wings (you can get two sauces on it, ghost pepper is supposedly super painful and you cannot return it) with the Voodoo glaze and Sevendust dry rub. Voodoo is the WAY to go! Those wings were so good. The sauce was amazing. I told the bartender that he had to tell the restaurant managers to sell that sauce separately! I would put that on EVERY THING I make at home. I was just licking the plate that sauce was so good. For my meal, I had the lobster roll, which was just full of lobster claw meat. Delicious. The potato bread roll was toasted just right. And the homemade chips were awesome. Next time on my list to try includes the Trio BBQ Moo & Oink burger, Stout burger, Lobster Ravioli, and so much more. The menu looks amazing. We sat for a while and had a few more drinks. I had the Aviation, which is so good!!! Again, in an awesome copper martini glass. It also had this amazing blue color to it. Then I finished with a Pineapple Gatsby. First off, the name's perfection. Secondly, this drink was the PERFECT way to end the meal. It was sweet, like a dessert drink. Mmm I miss it. HUGE shout outs to the amazing bartenders, John and Jake. They were AMAZING bartenders and so much fun to talk to. And really friendly. They were on top of everything. I think two of the best bartenders I've ever had. Also, they have specials every single day of the week so check it out! Thursdays is endless happy hour!!! And I cannot wait to come back ... every. single. week. read more

I have to say, Chef Eric LeVine (who you may know if you watched Chopped) has helped create this great establishment, which contains good food and provides a nice atmosphere to it's guests. Do not let Paragon's location fool you, as it is located in a strip mall area because once you walk in, you realize that there is ambiance that you would not expect, in a good way! The bar is on the right side with some tables available and I noticed this area is much louder than the left side, which seems to be more intimate, so keep that in mind when you make a reservation and maybe even request the left side if you do not like the noise. As for the bar, there are happy hour specials from 4pm to 7pm and there is a wide variety of drink choices available. On to the food... my friend and I started with wings for appetizers and we tried the voodoo and wasabi flavors. I enjoyed the wasabi flavor more and the good thing was that the wasabi flavor was not very overwhelming as one may expect. You taste a hint of wasabi in the chicken and I feel it is just the right amount for that type of food you are eating. And by all means, I feel due to only hint of wasabi flavor, anyone can eat it. As a note, I did see there is a wing flavor "ghost pepper" with a warning that "no givebacks" are allowed! So be careful if you are feeling adventurous! For the main course, I tried the Bacon -Eater (contains thick bacon, bacon onion marmalade sauce with bacon aioli and blue cheese), The burger looked good, and it tasted great! The bacon was well made and the blue cheese was a nice touch to the burger. I asked for the burger to come with onion rings instead of fries and the onion rings were also well fried and delicious. A nice touch was that Chef Eric LeVine came by the table to welcome us and how we were enjoying our meal. He looked initially disappointed because I did not finish my burger, but that was because I was taking it home and I was full already! No disrespect Chef LeVine! I shall be coming back here! I would also like to take note that from word of mouth is that the menus were recently redone and some of Chef LeVine's specials looked really good, so like I said, I will be back! read more
