My wife and I spent our honeymoon at Paradisus in Cancun and it was an amazing experience. Relatively affordable, luxurious, relaxing, and fun! Paradisus is an all-inclusive resort that has an all-ages family section and an adults only section. We stayed in the adults only section, which is called Royal Service. The resort has many restaurants, three pools, multiple bars, various activities throughout the day, and gorgeous decor. As soon as you walk into the hotel, you notice the beautiful design. There is foliage hanging from the walls and levels, trees throughout the indoor spaces, streams and ponds filled with koi, and incense burning. During the day, the lights are all off and the giant skylights provide great natural lighting. At night, hanging lights give a great vibe. It really is gorgeous. Royal Service comes with some really nice perks as well. To start, transportation to and from the airport is included, and when you arrive at the hotel, your luggage is collected and delivered to your room so you don't need to carry it through the hotel, which is quite large. You also get a personal butler that guides you through personalized check-in. Entering the hotel, you see long lines of guests checking in. In Royal Service, that doesn't exist. They do it for you. They give you sparkling wine while you wait. Super nice. In Royal Service, there is also a private lounge with a private top-shelf bar all day long, fancy appetizers and desserts until 10pm, and a breakfast buffet every morning. There is always a staff member at the bar to make you a cappucino or cocktail or anything else you want. And they are super helfpul and generous; my wife ordered a drink and they didn't have the ingredients on hand but they offered to go get them and make it. We declined because that was too much effort and had another delicious cocktail. Royal Service also has a private restaurant: La Palapa. La Palapa is open for breakfast and lunch and, only recently, for dinner. This restaurant is a huge perk for Royal Service guests. The breakfast there is AMAZING. Get the french toast. And the churros. Breakfast options at the rest of the resort are pretty limited; a buffet with food that honestly doesn't look amazing. We though La Palapa would have the same food, but it was completely different, freshly made at La Palapa rather than at a shared kitchen for the buffet, and the food was all delicious. The restaurant is outside between the pool and the beach, giving you great views of the ocean. Birds are very eager to get any falling food, so watch out for them. Royal Service also has a private pool with little cabanas you can reserve free each day. The cabanas have waiter service too, so you can be lounging and order really delicious food and cocktails without having to get up. The food is really quite good; I recommend the tuna skewers and the nachos. We had such a fun and relaxing time at Paradisus. We were in the ocean and pools every day. We used their spa everyday, as well. The spa has a hydrotherapy pool (a bit cold), saunas, steamrooms, and massaging shower rooms that are all free to use. And we finished every day with a bubble bath prepared by our butler, and he always left the room with a bottle of sparkling wine, some desserts, and decorated with flower petals. We simply had to message him during the day that we wanted a bath and it would be ready for us when we arrived at the room at night. Neither of us wanted to go home after our stay. Spent a week at the Paradisus Cancún - booked the all inclusive stay, flight, and shuttle transfers through the Melia website. THE GOOD: The beach is beautiful. Soft, white sand, clear water, not too crowded. The common areas are pretty well maintained - the lobby area is sun drenched and covered in plants which gives a welcoming and tropical feel. The service is mostly good - hit or miss depending on which department/restaurant, but overall they're friendly. The food was above average for an all inclusive. We had a couple of stellar days at Malva the buffet. We had an excellent dinner at Agua Marina the seafood place. We had several great experiences at the taqueria Blue Agave, and we really enjoyed Cielo, the more traditional Mexican spot. THE BAD: Check in took nearly an hour. Any time I had a question for guest services it took a minimum of 30 minutes. This place still after 30+ years really has not figured out how to streamline this process and it's very frustrating. The hotel is old and it shows - so they're constantly trying to upcharge you for something. Our first room was AWFUL. The door to the balcony was literally falling off. Our shower flooded the entire bathroom. None of the light switches worked. The closet doors were broken and wouldn't close. I've honestly stayed in nicer Holiday Inns or Days Inn... no joke. We ended up upgrading to Nitke, which was worth it because the rooms have recently been renovated and are much nicer. There are not enough chairs at the pools or the beach. No joke people start getting up at 6am to reserve chairs. If you're not down there by 8am you won't be finding a chair. They also run out of towels by 4 or 5pm. I've never stayed at a hotel that runs out of towels literally every day and can't figure out a way to replenish them... it's mind boggling. The steakhouse Sal was terrible. I mean terrible. Just don't go (and if you're not in a Nitke room you have to pay anyway). The ceviche restaurant Lemon Fish was bad too. The spa is just ok... a bit expensive... the facilities are showing their age a bit. OVERALL we had a decent experience - we could ignore most of the bad stuff and just relax on the beach most days. If you get a really good deal I'd recommend it, but there are much nicer properties in Cancun at the same price point or just a bit more expensive that are superior. read more

I had an amazing time at Paradisus Cancun. I stayed there recently for my boyfriends birthday. The staff went above and beyond at every turn. We stayed in the Reserve section which was adults only and it was amazing. The room was very large and clean. The food was ok over all but the Sal steakhouse was very good. The worst Customer Service in all of Cancun. The "manager" walks around looking down on all the guest and staff and does absolutely nothing else. The are no perks at all in this hotel. Upon arrival, we booked an outing to Isla Minerva and then a taxi that would take us back to the airport upon departure. The person we paid didn't tell us that after our outing, we would have to find our way back to the hotel on our own. He also never booked the Taxi, although we paid for it and we ended up missing our flight. They never returned my money or cared. Will never go back. read more

The all inclusive stay was 100% worth it. - The resort is super safe (plenty of staff available 27/7, only authorized vehicles and guests can enter past the front gate, resort is located on a hill so it's difficult for randos to come in, national guard makes regular rounds on the beach via foot and helicopter). - The resort is gorgeous with plenty of restaurants, bars, lounge areas, and pools. - Tours and taxis are extremely easy to book - Live entertainment practically every night - All of the facilities are clean and cleaned often! Our room was replenished and visited by housekeeping every day of our stay. - Lastly the staff is amazing! Everyone is genuinely so kind, accommodating, helpful, and available. Overall, a good value but noticeable weaknesses. Positives: Wonderful location, amazing pools (plural) that allowed for kids but also lap swimming for adults. Nice rooms. Very attentive, motivated staff in every area. Great access to warm ocean swimming. Good to decompress. The main buffet was very good with fresh choices and a good fresh salad bar. Negatives: Checking in was slow and backed up. When you are arriving tired this is dissapointing. We checked the box for adjacent rooms (though it was not guaranteed) but they put us in different buildings. The restaurants were not up to par and would never survive in the private sector. Portions were small and limited options and desserts were average, but better in the main buffet. Very difficult for vegans in the restaurants (though okay at the buffet). The Japanese restaurant was in a beautiful setting but service was slow and poor. It seemed to be way understaffed. The food was okay but if you wanted vegan sushi it was only a cucumber roll. The health oriented restaurant, Flora, had one vegan "entree" but it was just broccoli. It would have been a good side dish. The restaurants all were nice to be in with good service (except the Japanese, which was terrible) but the dishes were consistently disappointing. Finally, the brewed coffee in the buffet was pretty good, but other options were poor. They have a nespresso bar outside the restaurant but the wait is long and if you don't like Nespresso there were no other options. Get a real barista and espresso bar. read more

The room was outdated and musty. Strong smell of sewage/ poo/something bad, on the third floor. Party music all night long on most nights so bring a sound machine. Restaurants had just ok food, nothing authentic or anything to write home about except for the short rib at the capella restaurant. No hot tubs. 3 stars bc most of the staff was awesome, room service food awful but staff again awesome. The place looks beautiful but needs serious updates. Pools close at 7?!?!? So early, we like a night swim opportunity! Bed was firm but comfortable. Definitely not worth the money. Will take my travel agents advice and stay elsewhere next time. read more

The food is substandard. I got sick the first night from food poisoning. Can't leave rare beef under a heat lamp that is not warm enough. Never enough chairs. Racism is subtle from room selection to where they try to sit you if you are african american. I've seen people who came in after me be served first. A lot of times my food arrived cold while the waiter was standing around talking. My girlfriend ordered fish and it was undercooked. They need to change the oil in their deep fryers more often and have the temperature increased on some of the fryers. We were originally scheduled to go to Paradisus Cancun in March of 2020. And then the world shit down. Fast forward to August 2022. We've been to many all inclusive resorts (including reserve paradisus punta Cana) We stayed for a full week in the reserve section. We had a deluxe ocean view room. Before arriving, we received an email stating we were in a jr suite. When I called CS to make sure they had us in the correct room, the man on the phone was unbelievably rude. Told me to "stop talking" so he could read my reservation info to me. Huh. Upon arriving at the resort, we noticed how beautiful the lobby is. Humid but gorgeous. Our room was lovely. Housekeeping is exceptional. Eva, I think, did a great job. A few mornings a week, yoga is offered at the outside gazebo overlooking the ocean. The waves were so soothing. I wanted to try the stretch class but the instructor never arrived so I used the well appointed gym. We used the Bali beds which is a really nice perk. We loved the ocean view ones. Joel at the Bali beds was a great server. Valeria also AMAZING! Caesar in tower 5 reserve area was great about clearing our glasses and plates during a cocktail hour. Lunch box service by Teresa and Antonio and richer was perfect. They checked on us constantly refilling our drinks. At Capella, we also had great service. (Maybe Josue. I can't recall) Pedro and sofino at sports bar so so good. Seriously Pedro is the best bartender. The. Best. Roberto great server also at sports bar. Polite and friendly. Sofonia and giovani were friendly and professional. Ernesto at Lemon Fish was amazing server. And that food was really good and fresh! I hate buffets. Hate. But the buffet here was good. Each day had different choices. Our favorite restaurant was Cielo. That food was unbelievable. We've been to many all inclusive and some have cost a lot more money (sandals). The service and food here was very very good. Our concierges were Violeta and Mauricio. They were extremely responsive every time we made any request. They were professional and friendly. Ask for them. You won't be disappointed. Would we stay here again ? No. We would not. Why? Because the temperature of the room was too warm. Goodness knows they tried several times to make our room cooler. Even with their efforts the rooms temp never got below 77* (it was btw 77*-82* the entire stay) and that is uncomfortable for us. We are from Houston so heat is not foreign for us. But the room was way, way too hot. ***Don't spend extra money on ocean view bc we had to keep the blinds drawn or would have been unbearable. That was a rip off for us. Wasted money*** Sadly, that is a deal breaker for us. I understand it's been a warm summer. We live in Houston, so we are used to the heat. We've traveled many places in summertime (Guatemala, Jamaica, DR, PR). My husband has MS and it's triggered by the heat. And the entire stay, he dealt with issues bc of the warmth of our room. Usually we can go to the room and cool off. Not here. We've never dealt with a hot room before. We visited many tropical locations and the heat in the room has never been a problem. This was my first time in Cancun and this hotel was booked through a jiu jitsu retreat, so I didn't have any choice in hotel, however from the looks of this hotel it was beautiful. Despite its beautiful appearance, we had several problems during our stay. The first problem was with the check in process. I had a roommate but they booked us in a room with one king bed in it, and we had to wait an extra night to get the room we were suppose to get which was the two bedroom with beach view. The second issue was with the customer service. Pretty mediocre to be honest. Some of the staff were incompetent and not very friendly. Seemed like they didn't like us because we are Americans. The third issue was the food. Unfortunately I ended up getting ill from this trip but I sort of expected it to happen. Some of the food there were pretty good. The gift shop here is expensive as hell and they sell essentials here for a ridiculous price. Someone tried to buy sunscreen here and they were charging 40 plus dollars. If you are going to stay here just be prepared to pay alot, and make sure to bring all your essentials because it is so expensive to buy those here. I probably would not stay here again. read more

If you are even considering booking here, for the sake of your vacation, please keep looking. I have traveled to Mexico every year for the past 5 years and this was by far my worst experience and it's not even close. I'll preface this by saying I stayed at a Melia property in Cabo San Lucas, a 4 star, which was absolutely amazing so naturally I expected nothing less from their Cancun 5 star location. That proved to be a mistake. This resort is dirty, has a poor smell, the rooms are poorly cleaned, you are nickel & dimed for everything the minute you get to the property, and their service is horrible. Starting at the beginning -- check-in. They are constantly trying to up-sell you for higher priced rooms, services, etc. They offered a "luxury" room for an extra charge of $260. I negotiated it down to $180. Fine. Upon arriving to the room, I immediately notice a dingy, dirty looking rug in the seating area. Stained throw pillows on the bed, and stuck-on food on the spa brochure (shown) I went downstairs and asked for a new room, hoping that had just been an isolated incident. They check me into a new room. Same thing -- dirty rug, stained pillows and this time I even found a blonde hair in the bedsheets. I have black hair. Even more disgusting -- I turned over the comforter and found a dried yellow liquid stain on the inside (pictured). I was absolutely horrified, especially with the serious concerns over coronavirus and the spread of germs. From then on, every minute I spent in the room was miserable, wondering what had actually been cleaned or replaced and what hadn't. That is no way to spend a vacation you spent your hard earned money on. I expressed my concerns to their management and I was told that they "looked into their housecleaning processes and found nothing wrong". They offered absolutely nothing to remedy the situation. In addition, the nickel & diming was pathetic for a so-called 5 star resort. Never have I been to an all-inclusive resort that charged for room service, especially since it's the only food option after the restaurants and buffet close. They charge $5 per order and the best part -- there's a good chance your order will be wrong, as mine was all 3 times I ordered. They also charge a whopping $200 per day to use their beach beds. You are forced to a purchase a "package" which includes a bottle of champagne. Tough luck if you don't drink I guess. Also, you will be turned away at their restaurants if you don't make a reservation even if there's barely anyone there. And to top it off, the food is extremely mediocre, except for the taco restaurant. In short, it seems at this place their goal is to make your vacation as difficult and expensive as possible. With emphasis on the latter. There are too many resorts in Cancun with way better value to waste a minute of your vacation or spend a penny of your hard-earned money here. But if strangers' hair and unidentifiable stains in your bed, and poor food and service sounds like your dream vacay, then book away! read more

There are a few reasons I would not come back here. Some of the staff (poolside bartender and housekeeper) were extremely rude, with housekeeping there was no consistency so we never knew when to be out of the room. One day they came at 2:30, the next day they came at 5pm and the last day they came at 11am. It was all over the place and when I asked her to please clean the floors she was very rude to me. The second thing is that unless you are in your room or one of the restaurants there is no ac. It's VERY warm going to and from your room to anywhere else. The water pressure was terrible and the rooms need updating very badly. The vibe is nice and the vines are a nice touch. We also had a huge issue with room service. My grand daughter doesn't eat cheese so we ordered a burger NO CHEESE. The burger happened to be extra charge and when they brought it, it had cheese on it and the fries. We called and at first they said they can bring another burger but not charge us. Well we checked out today and yes, they did charge us! No one touched the burger so we shouldn't have to pay for it. We had a nice time and most of the staff was very nice and helpful. The pools are gorgeous and the beach was beautiful! The food was good, the buffet had lots of options and different stuff every day. We ate at the steak house that wasn't covered in the stay and Roger our waiter was awesome and the food was amazing! read more

Kick's Sport Bar is the BEST!!! We loved Jesus Gorociea (sp?) - he was running the entire bar, mainly by himself. No matter how busy it got and how long the line was, he waited on us (we were sitting at the bar). My husband & I were there from March 6-9. He ws always very friendly and patient. He did have a couple of other helpers from time to time; Luis & Emmanuel - they were good too. What an incredible resort! This was our second time at an all-inclusive resort, and Paradisius Cancun did NOT disappoint! We visited the week before Easter from Monday to Thursday. The views and beach are absolutely stunning. Plenty of beach and pool chairs to relax and enjoy the hot Mexican sun and sea air. Do be mindful of the sargassum (seaweed) that accumulates on the beach in the warmer seasons. The resort did try to clear it but there's only so much you can do. We also found the waves to be too big to swim. Onto the food... pretty good! There are a variety of restaurants to choose from. We found ourselves eating at the buffet pretty frequently and that was more than sufficient for us. They had a great fajita bar and the guacamole... well let's just say we got our money's worth. The rooms were extremely clean, comfortable, and quiet. Full-stocked mini bar. No complaints there. Finally, and most importantly, the service. We were FLOORED at just how friendly and pleasant EVERY STAFF MEMBER was! We were greeted with smiles and the staff truly made us feel as though we were family. On our last breakfast at the buffet, one of the wait staff, Julio, took our picture and made sure to tell us how much he appreciated our business. We appreciate the effort that Paradisus made to ensure we had a wonderful vacation, and we cannot wait to come back! read more

Warning: read the 1 star reviews elsewhere before booking. We didn't and wasted a lot of money and more importantly had a terrible vacation. Let me preface this review by saying this isn't our first time in Cancun nor is it our first time staying at an all inclusive. It's never a good sign when you want to leave within 24 hours of arriving. Below, I'll break down the good and bad from our trip: Good Check in was easy Bell boy was prompt and courteous Majority of the staff around the resort were friendly. Resort is fairly easy to navigate Multiple large pools Bad Room type - I had reserved a Room type w/king bed since we were traveling with a toddler. Of course they gave us a room with two small double beds. No effort was made to rectify this even after we told our 'personal concierge'. Literally the resort is half empty and we are told it's at capacity and they can't do anything. Futher we were in the main tower. Great, right? Sure if you don't mind music blaring till 11pm while you try to out a toddler to sleep. Food reservations - you have to make reservations to each restaurant in order to go otherwise you are stuck with the subpar buffet for each meal. We tried to make reservations the night we arrived for each day of our stay. We are told restaurants are either unavailable or the best they can do is a 9pm reservation for each restaurant even if it's 3 days out. Meanwhile I see night after night the restaurants are ~30% capacity. I'm traveling with a toddler and 9pm isn't going to work. I literally had to argue to finally get accommodated. Imagine you spent all this money and have to beg for a reservation. Hardly a 5* experience. Food quality - this is probably the worst food I've had on all my vacations. Its somewhere between the hospital food and the worst cruise ship food. Bland and lacking in every way imaginable. If you have a vegetarian in your party, they will need to Uber eats something. The running joke was this is the first all inclusive that we will lose weight. To be fair there are items on the room service menu that vegetarians can have but you shouldn't have to eat in your room constantly. Their main restaurant blue agave can't make something simple as a bean and cheese burrito or a veggie taco. C'mon... Mini bar in your room - what a joke. 4 beers and a pack of Oreos, you filthy animal. Laughable really. Upselling - oh my god the upselling. From the moment you check in your so called personal concierge will get your phone # and text you non stop to try to sell you excursions, time share sessions, photo sessions, etc. Yiu try to escape and try to relax by the pool, nice try bucko. You will be sold a photo package while you try to lounge. Oh you want towels? How about we send you on a parasail. Oh you want a veggie burger? How about a hot dog that was meant for someone else instead? Murphy's law in full effect here. When you finally get out of the resort to do something fun you realize quickly there are charges for almost everything. You want to sit on the beach, that's $220. You want to sit under an umbrella by the pool, it's X charge. You want a coconut water, that's an extra charge. There is absolutely no personalization to your stay and they make limited to no accommodations to your dietary needs. Water bottles - good luck getting someone to give you one. Only a cup of water which we didn't want to give our toddler for obvious reasons. To go food - non existent. They tell you when to eat and where. No to go containers at the buffet if you want to take something for your kid or maybe eat by the pool or whatever. after I explained my kid was hungry and profusely crying (hence didn't want to sit inside and disturb others) they did me a solid and gave me a few napkins to take away a slice of pizza. This one really upset me. It's not that big of request. And they treat you like no one has asked something like this before?! Liquor - the top of the line stuff is Bacardi, Jim beam, jack daniels, hornitos, etc. but you'll only get it if you ask for it otherwise it's the house stuff which is typical practice at all inclusives. Service - hit or miss. I'll explain; Requested milk for my daughter to go. Got a cup of chocolate milk when I opened it to feed her. Requested water bottle. Got mineral water Requested water bottle and explicitly specified and got a cup of water. Room service repeatedly forgot ordered items, condiments, etc. Needless to say, I would never stay at this resort nor a Melia property again. Disappointing in every regard. You spend thousands of dollars to try and unwind and they ruin your vacation trying to upswell you. Read the other reviews and know what you are getting into. This resort was a major bust for us. Disappointed that Costco even has this resort on Costco travel. It is no where near a 5* star. The only way you think this place is a resort is if you've literally never been anywhere. read more

Everything about this place screams old. Now knowing that the property is 30+ years old i guess it's in a decent condition but wish i knew that before hand. The people at the front desk attitude was just as horrible as the food. When i arrived that evening at 10pm the lady at front desk said my room was cancelled. She said i needed to go back to the website and rebook. Well hold on what's the reason why my room was cancelled?? Never got a real solid answer. Everyone was pointing fingers but no one knew. 2 hours later after speaking with managers our room was finally reinstated. At that time no restaurants were opened. So we ordered room service. The food looked and tasted like cruise ship food :-/ . It's suppose to be All Inclusive but we were charged by the man that delivered the food that it was $6 cash for delivery, we asked him if that went towards hotel or his tip so we would know how to tip him. he states $6 goes to front desk ... so we gave him $3 in tip plus the $6. When i asked the front desk the next day the gentleman at the front desk stated everything was all inclusive and no other charge. (interesting) .... the next day we went to eat at Malva and that Buffet food sucks too. The only thing i ate was Omelet that the ladies made fresh. The Bus Burgers near the pool was the best food they had however 1st Day they gave a bag of chips with ur burger and the rest of the days they gave u about 5chips on the tray. The Mexican restaurant didn't hv the greatest of foods either... shrimp was salty & the lamb barbqua had a funny smell & after taste.... however the churros dessert came out nice and hot. Their Lemon drops was delicious. There were no coffee pots in the room. however u can grab hot water or coffee from Nepresso near the restaurants on Floor Zero ... we found out on the last day that they served croissant sandwiches & muffins. on the beach You can pay $250 usd for cabana on the beach. Mr Cuiche was great and attentive. the $250 came with 1 lobster and 3 shrimp skewers, 3 different kinds of civiche and a bottle of moët. This particular property will not get my money again even if it was comped. When i checked out i saw my husband and my sons copy of their passports sitting on the desk open for anyone to walk up and see. When my husband asked why was it sitting there she didn't have a reason and tore it up . This place is a whole bunch of horrible. i couldn't be so happy to Check out and leave there read more

This was my first all-inclusive resort experience and I had the literal best time of my life. We came for a weekend festival that bought out the resort for patrons so i'm not sure if this changed anything or not, but I really don't have any big complaints. The rooms were clean, service was great, and they're not stingy at all about the alcohol. The only thing I would say is that the food I had all weekend was just alright. The resort itself was insanely beautiful... it sat right in front of the blue ocean with incredible sunrises and sunsets. There were plentiful cabanas, pools, and bars scattered throughout the resort. I loved the actual paradise feel of this resort... the soft white colors, the lush plants and beautiful little koi ponds on some of the floors were just amazing and unlike anything i've ever seen back home in California. Every single room had a great view (some more than others!! If you're lucky enough to get a room that overlooks the ocean.) Paradisus is pretty confusing to navigate though because there's 5 different pyramids and the floors don't necessarily align with the room numbers. The employees are nice enough to try to help direct you though even though some of them may have a hard time understanding you, so if you can't speak Spanish, i'd advise using a translator to help foster communication! We complained about it and I was told they will find me a new room but we will have to check out at noon and will be allotted a new room at 3. All under the garb of process. I was also told that someone would come and verify the air conditioner. Food seems decent and the beach is beautiful. All in all mixed response, I would advice to look else where. Tequila and water is what my girl Anna wanted me to name this review as. Anna and Isabelle at the Yhi spa are a necessity. The spa was antiquated not even on my top ten of amenities however the massage we got from Anna and Isabelle was top tier and by far the best massage I've gotten on vacation and way better than what I've gotten in the states. Let's start from the top! In booking this resort I became a Meliá member which was the best choice. I instantly got a discount on each night so I was able to upgrade to the reserve. The reserve comes with an adults only pool, adults only beach, premium bar and FREE Bali beds with your Reserve stay. When we arrived, we had a small hiccup, they didn't honor our request for a king bed in our suite for the first night so on the first night we had full size beds and we hated it. First thing in the morning I switched over to a king bed. The reserve also comes with a concierge, our concierge Jorge was not responsive at all so we asked to change our concierge. We were assigned an amazing woman her name was Violeta, Violeta was nothing short of amazing!!!! She was super attentive, assisted us in every way and was truly a a gem. She made our stay at the Paradissus such a breeze, I would definitely request her in the future and would recommend that you do the same. One major thing to note: it's super hot in this place! It is legitimately a greenhouse there are plants everywhere and obviously plants won't thrive in colder temperatures so expect to sweat... a lot. It's poorly ventilated, it's hotter inside the resort than it is outside in the sun. Reservations are also a headache, it's tough to make a reservation and if you don't have a reservation all You can do is eat at the buffet or off of the resort or order room service which is one of the more limited room service menus that I've ever experienced. If you are traveling with children, there isn't much to do for kids you'll either be with them at the pool or in the hotel. Most resorts have a super cool and sun kids area but there's nothing like that at the Paradissus. There is plenty to do for adults, they have water aerobics, Zumba, painting, crafts, hiit classes, spa, plenty of beach/swim up bars and off resort activities. Yhi spa was really basic. I was surprised that it was so basic when the resort is just so upscale. I typically spend time in the steam room, sauna and hydrotherapy but it was lackluster so we just had the beach massage. We also bought the all-inclusive package: purple wristbands The honest truth abt this hotel is that management completely sucks. We had a large group of 20 people booked for a Bachelor/Bachelorette and the the front desk + management screwed everything up. They lost our reservations, made us wait hours to get our rooms ready bc they lost our reservations, booked half of the reservations wrong with the wrong number of beds and our rooms were HOT and HUMID. Then they tried to bribe us with discounted spa bookings but then said they had no reservations available.... Wth, ok??? Then they discounted our rooms from $928 to $600 for all of their mistakes which was fine with us but then they flip-flopped and switched & baited us 3 times to get us to fall for their lies so we would drop the subject. We had to go to the receptionist desk every single day to to get them to fix their mistakes and they still couldn't do anything right. Upon checkout, Alexis the manager said "Oops, my mistake, it's still $928." Horrible management, completely untrained and ignorant. Why should we, the guests, be paying for your mistakes??? We were absolutely furious and they honestly didn't give a shit about us. This is hands-down the worst hotel I've ever been at. I'd 100% rather stay at a Motel 6. Totally ruined our experience Hotel: I totally agree with Lisa W., that the inside of the hotel is crazy muggy and humid. The center of the hotel is pretty with vine plants everywhere but bc of that, they've made the hotel like a GREENHOUSE. Once you walk in, you immediately start sweating coming out of the shuttle from the airport. No point in trying to wear any makeup or anything particularly nice bc you start dripping sweat right away. Honestly the temperature automatically made you slightly miserable unless you go right out to the beach, sit deep inside the Malva buffet or just hang out at the receptionist desk for the AC Waiter, waitresses, pool guys/girls: Amazing! They remembered our names, they checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed, they interacted with us and made us feel totally welcomed. They are the only people that knows how to run this place. Give them all a raise and bump them up to management! Food: Lots of variety but it was all ok. Not saying it was bad but nothing was mind-blowing either. To me, the fruits were the best thing there! Honeydew and papayas were amazing! Beach/Pool Area: Very pretty, nicely kept and the only facility note-worthy of this hotel CoVid: The hotel provides an included CoVid test with your stay. On the bottom floor, they've set up a meeting area for guests to go to at their appointed time for their CoVid test 1 day before your check-out day and email your results within 12 hours. An all inclusive resort in Cancun! This review is based off of my stay with the upgrade to Royal Service. I only say this because I feel like the upgrade made a significant difference in my review. I came here for one of my life long friend's bachelorette weekend trip and I couldn't have asked for a better trip with these girls. In all honestly, I wasn't too sure what to expect. I've never been in an all-inclusive resort before. This place went above and beyond with service and experience. We checked in and although our rooms weren't ready at the time of our arrival, we joined the rest of our group for lunch while we waited for our room. With Royal Service there are some perks. Well, a lot of perks. Each group is assigned a personal butler. If you're international they set up a group chat on Whatsapp with your butler to make sure he's readily available for anything you would need or desire (Between the hours of 11-7, that is.) You also get access to a restricted pool area, access to a restaurant called La Palapa, secluded part of the beach and pool cabanas that are significantly easier to book than in other parts of the resort. Over the course of the weekend, we ventured off into the public pool area of the resort and there was a big difference. The main area is very family friendly, loud and rowdy. The Royal Service area was more relaxed and peaceful. This tone made all the difference. Royal service also includes premium liquors for all the drinks included with your stay. I'm sure there were more perks than this but this was really all we needed. If you're looking for a relaxing stay, I would recommend Paradisus. If you are considering upgrading to Royal Service, I recommend that, as well. Super worth it! read more

Pros: -concierge was awesome, reserved dinner spots for us every night, available via WhatsApp and checked in on us in person every day -upgrade was adults only with a much better pool, less crowded and very enjoyable. Good system to reserve cabanas - food is fantastic, big variety of restaurants (this was most important to me) -GREAT mask enforcement, covid testing on site Cons (not all related to paradisus) - seaweed situation is unbearable. Nothing for the hotel to do here but it really is an eyesore for the beach - extremely long check in process, best to arrive in the late afternoon to avoid this - AC is not amazing, but bearable. Most areas on the premises are not AC'd up but the place is HUGE (5 buildings) so I imagine it would be hard. read more

What can I say about the last 8 days to sum up our experience??! It was awesome! The service is wonderful, the food was amazing! Views spectacular! We stayed in the reserve side. A definite if you can swing the extra $$. We loved that there weren't kids on that side so all you hear from your Bali bed were conversations and the ocean. I'm glad the party and daily DJ were on the other side, we could join that when we wanted to. We had 2 concierges that split our week. They accommodated every request. Dinner reservations, room change requests etc. Big thank you to Ceci (Ce-CHI!) and Violeta! Sante restaurant was our favorite for breakfast and lunch. It's in the reserve, so quiet and wonderful. Amazing food on the patio under shade with an amazing view. (see photos) The menus are at this resort are creative and wonderful. We noted at the pool that those complaining about the food didn't even try anything! They didn't recognize anything on the menu and would leave! What a shame. If you are looking to eat American food all week and hotdogs, go somewhere else. We were NOT disappointed with anything we ordered the entire week. (And we are foodies and travelers) Everything was cooked perfectly from lamb to steak to fish. They are extremely accommodating- anything you want, they will do it so just ask. We would combine favorite menu items together etc. Hats off the chefs here. It was great! Pool service on the reserve side was unbeatable. Thank you to Lucas, the pool concierge, for getting our bali bed everyday with a smile! Because we were there for 8 days we had different wait staff at Sante for breakfast and for the pool. A huge shout out to Valeria, Ruben, Moises, Joel, Julio, Josue, Yamil, and Maria! And to Oscar for sharing your love of Tequila, the amazing history lesson and taste testing! We appreciate Tequila now! They were ALL fabulous. Seriously, thank you everyone. The absolute only thing I can complain about is it is definitely hot in the lobby. It's structured like a botanical garden so beautiful and unique, but humid like a greenhouse. I don't know if this is on purpose or something needs to be fixed. It did make dining at the buffet during the day uncomfortable (its fine at night) and the Italian restaurant, which is located in a side part of the main lobby, is very warm in there. Some restaurants have outdoor seating only so make reservations about 8pm when the sun is down. It's pleasant and they have fans. Sals and Blue Agave have great air conditioning as well as the sports bar in Ginger lounge. We did have to call for a fan in our room which helped tremendously. If you like it cold when you sleep, the rooms do not get colder than 70/71, a common theme among those we met also. The Asian restaurant is under construction in the middle of the lobby. No place is perfect and this would not keep us from coming back! We miss it already. Melia has not disappointed us thus far. We enjoyed this as much as Spain and Orlando. read more

This is one of the best all-inclusive resorts in Cancún! I have been here multiple times, and I keep coming back. The resort is upscale, all suites; the rooms have been completely remodeled in 2016. But its strength by far is food; a variety of eight restaurants or so, covering all the major cuisines of the world. The buffet offers chef quality food throughout the day for all three meals and between. The all-inclusive formula is a plus, since you don't have to worry about a thing. I always stay at Royal Service, the resort's club level for added tranquility when the resort is full, but honestly it's not necessary to enjoy the full experience, more like a personal choice. Take me back!! Everything about my vacation here was amazing! I came here with some friends to celebrate my birthday and we were treated like Queens. The vacation started off bumpy due to our first room not being upgraded. We complained about the room and told them it was my birthday. A couple hours later, we received a room upgrade with a nicer view and birthday balloons and cake! I went mid March and the weather was perfect (not too hot or cold). The food here was great and they had lots of variety. One of the highlights of the trip was the spa. It's like you're in a hidden oasis and the prices weren't too bad. The GOOD: Paradisus Cancún is great. The staff go out of their way to make sure you are happy, having fun and well taken care of. The beach is pearly white, soft sand and the most turquoise crystal clear water I have ever seen in my life. Waves are big enough to body surf or and the beach is shallow enough for little ones or light swimmers to play around in. Housekeeping did a wonderful job everyday. Liquor selection was plenty. Jack Daniels, Crown, Absolut, Hornitos, Don Julio, etc. Heineken on tap at the pool and specialty mimosas at breakfast! Food was what you'd expect. Nothing Michelen Star but good food. The buffets were always plentiful, clean, and varied. Gym was clean, lots of machines, and had two rooms for HIIT or spinning classes. One of the BEST things about Paradisus hotels are that you don't have a limit of the a la carte restaurants based on your length of stay like other resorts we have stayed at. At Paradisus' if you want a sit-down-and-they-serve-you dinner experience (as opposed to a buffet style) all you do is press "0" from your room phone and make a reservation. Mole (Mexican food and in an A/C room) and La Palapa (Seafood, open air restaurant) were our favorite sit-down restaurants. Blue Agave is also A/C and had great street tacos/quesadillas and Guadencio! Our favorite sever ;) Bana was the sushi restaurant in the middle of the main pyramid (building 3). Eduardo was fantastic and took great care of us. Sushi was good for being in Mexico. This too is an open air restaurant so it can get a little humid. But it's Mexico, seriously what do people expect? lol ************* That being said, I have visited Mexico 7 times now and have been to 5 different all-inclusive resorts. I won't say I'm an expert, but my eyes see more than most who are enamored by their first all-inclusive. The reason I gave the resort 4 stars instead of 5 is because of a few key factors: 1. The pool chairs. I know that sounds dumb but all the pool chairs have been modified so they don't lay down completely or sit up completely. You cannot change the position. You are in one permanent slightly recline position the entire time. 2. Room noise if you're in the big pyramid. The room noise didn't actually bother my husband or myself. But, if your room is in the main pyramid (building 3) they play live music in the center of the building at night. Pyramid 3 is the lobby, most of the restaurants and shops, etc AND a good portion of the rooms. We were on the top/8th floor and because the pyramid acts as a sort of amphitheater the music that was blasting on the bottom level traveled, very clearly, into our room every night. Each night they would play until 11 or midnight. We are heavy sleepers and night owls so we were fine. If you are a light sleeper or have small children I would advise making sure you are not in pyramid 3. 3. The cabanas/Bali Beds and "the pitch." This didn't bother me but it irked my husband. Upon arrival you are given your room keys and a map, etc. You are also given a very gentle sales pitch from a staff member about their time-shares. They want you to meet with them the morning after your arrival, during your breakfast, so they can pitch their stuff to you. In exchange they offer the cabanas or the "Bali beds" which normally run $100-200 a day! NOT pesos, dollars. So silly. Anyway, it bugged my husband that these Bali Beds on the beach and near the pools were virtually unused each day unless you paid the ridiculous price to rent them or you gave up 2 hours of your trip for a sales pitch. If we had more money we might even participate in the time share program. BUT we knew the pitch from previous Paradisus' and didn't really care about the Bali Beds so we were kind but firm and said NO. And that was that. No stalking, no high pressure. They respected our answer and left it at that. (Pro tip: Say no right away. They tend to "up the ante" in terms of their offers if you're willing to sit through the presentation.) ************** All in all it's a great resort. We slept and ate and got catered to like royalty (even without the Royal Service package.) We love Paradisus resorts and will definitely be back. We prefer Paradisus La Esmeralda in Playa del Carmen but if you need a quick vacation you literally are at your resort from the Cancun airport in 20 minutes. And you can't beat that! read more

I normally love all inclusives but this one has a lot to be desired. First and foremost they should warn you that most of the menu items at the restaurants have an up charge. The reserve section is tranquil, you have an adults only pool and a snack area. That's it!!! Too much money for too little value. Very disappointed.
