Visited Paradise Biryani Pointe in Catonsville, MD, around 3 PM. Since the kitchen was closed between 2 PM and 5 PM, only chicken and goat biryani were available. The dine-in space was decent and very clean, with a pleasant ambiance. The staff at the counter was attentive and helpful, offering great service. We ordered the chicken and goat dum biryani, and both were absolutely delicious, with the goat biryani standing out as exceptionally flavorful. Before COVID this was my favorite place for Indian food. I have been a few times since and I'm not sure if maybe they just aren't as busy as before and the food isn't as fresh. I don't know. A hidden gem in a small step mall in Catonsville! I was in the area and stopped in here for a quick lunch. The folks behind the counter were friendly and eager to discuss their menu and specials. We ordered gobi manchurian, fish 555, and vegetable pakoras for appetizers. All three were phenomenal, especially the fish 555! We also ordered a chicken chettinad which was decent. All these items plus one naan and a soda came out to approximately $65. Overall, I was very impressed with the quality and value of the food. Nothing can beat the combination of chicken 65, hard boiled egg and a biryani. Ambiance is pretty good. Service is nice. Mostly people order to go here. My husband lived in Oman for a year and it was there that he learned of a dish called "Chicken 65." 11 years later we end up in Maryland again and at every place we have lived since then, he has always looked at all restaurants for this dish called "Chicken 65." He has looked at menus online, menus at restaurants and called restaurants in hope to finally find it. Well, low and behold, during a recent discussion about traveling to Oman for a visit, he started to daydream about Chicken 65 again. I asked him, what is it about this dish? What does it look like? Taste like? How is it made? Sooo he googled. As he scrolled his eyes got huge! The menu popped up with this restaurant that listed "Chicken 65." "No way! Noooo way!!! I found it! We have to go!" So we called. It was real. Now, would it be the same as he always dreamed of this entire time? Was it the same as he remembered 11 years ago having lived in Oman? We ordered, picked up, and the smell just immediately made our eyes roll into our head. We huffed the bag and just sat there as we were engulfed in spices and thats when he knew, he knew that it would be. "It smells just like it! It has to be! Open it. Open it now while its hot. We have to try it now." I made him try first. Of course, it was super hot so he did burn his tongue but it was worth it to see the look on his face. It was absolutely priceless. I think he shed a little tear. His search was over...he had found the exact Chicken 65 dish that he found across the World, 11 years ago, right here in our own backyard. I did take a bite and I now understand why he could not describe the flavor. Its overwhelming. Its delicious. Its tender balls of meat pre-soaked in an array if spices and fried in even more. You will have to go and find out for yourself. Unfortunately my belly is sensitive to certain spice so it did not sit well for me but he had zero issues devouring the entire dish. I for one really enjoy their chicken curry, rice and naan. Its more flavorful and less soupy than most other locations. Spoiled meat and terrible customer service! Ordered goat, chicken and goat biryanis one of each and the goat biryani was foul smelling and slimy. Called the restaurant to resolve the issue and they offered another goat biryani for free on day and time of my choosing. This afternoon called them to place an order and explained to them about the free biryani and no objections were mentioned. Drove up from edgewater to Catonsville only to find out that they would not honor the original agreement . The health department needs to look into this place. This is not the place you come if you want to sit in a fancy establishment but if you want great biryani, naan, tikka, you name it then this is the place. its on route 40 so it is easy to get to and since it is near a lot of offices this a great lunch option for the mid day work crowd. I have not had a bad meal here yet. You order and play at the front grab you drinks and flatware and wait for the goodness to come to you. And boy does it ever, from fragrant rice to chicken lollipops or lamb you are covered. They also have a easy to follow menu where you can determine the level of spiciness that you want to endure. I ordered a carry out from this location yesterday and noticed that the amount charged was significantly over the price displayed on their electronic menu board above the order station. Upon examining the receipt, I found that each of the 3 items that I had ordered (a Chicken Curry, Shrimp Pulav, and Lasooni Gobi) were charged at a higher price than the one displayed on the electronic menu board. When I pointed this out to the cashier, he said that the menu prices had increased and that they will be updating the prices on the board later. I informed him that this is not a fair business practice and that if that is the case, at a minimum, they should post a sign on the board stating that the pricing is different from what is displayed and that customers should inquire and verify the prices for their selected items before confirming their order. He said he agreed and was sorry that this was the case. I then asked him whether he would be willing to honor the price displayed on the board to which he said that he cannot. By this time, he was joined at the counter by another person from the kitchen who was also answering the phone. I asked him to then cancel my order and refund the amount paid to my card to which he said that he cannot and only the owner/ manager can do that. So I asked them to get the manager to refund the transaction and they said they cannot because the manager was traveling somewhere and not available. read more

So after my last review I received a response from the business owner of Paradise Biryani Pointe. I decided to give it another chance. We did a carry out for chicken biryani and tandoori chicken. This time too the meat was gamy and tasted stale. Especially, after reheating the next morning, we couldn't stand the bad odor that was coming out of the chicken. It makes me think that they either use expired meat or serve stale biryani's for carry out orders. Moreover, the taste of coconut was over powering in the biryani. Bottom line is that I couldn't eat it and I don't think I would go back to Paradise Biryani again. The food quality has seriously degraded and not how it used to be few years back. read more

It's the most bland indian food I tasted - not even spicy at all. Then, I find paneer pieces in it when, no offense to paneer, I just dont like paneer. Came here on a Tuesday night for dinner and ordered the Chicken biriyani. We were seated in the backroom because our party was quite big: we had 9 people. The table ordered a variety of different appetizers including: chicken lollipop, lasooni gobi, and mirchi bajj and entrees including: lamb biriyani, chicken biriyani, fried rice, chili chicken, butter chicken, and naan. Haven't been to this restaurant in a while and I know most people come here do carryout, but I thought that with such a large party we would have service, but apparently this is place is a order & serve yourself restaurant, like a Panera. So our party was surprised that after our food came out that the waiter still didn't ask if we wanted any waters/drinks to order. So we asked and they said it was self serve. Luckily there was a water tank and we just filled our water glasses for a party of 9 people. When our check came out, we were charged a 15% tip, so I wasn't sure if this is truly a place that provides service or a sit down place as an FYI. The chicken biriyani that I ordered was okay, nothing spectacular, I've had a fair share of biriyani that was a lot better. The portions were big and I had leftovers to take home, you could definitely share this entree between 2 people. This place is pretty small compared to the other paradise biryani pointe locations that I have tried in Maryland and Pennsylvania. I call their food hyderabadi with a Tamil twist. Their biryanis keep up with the quality that the brand upholds. Tons of Indians up in this bitch at lunch time. My chicken biriyani came on a plate with saffron rice, infused with tons of different spices that you can actually see... No bullshit spice or curry powders here folks. The chicken was hidden inside, and tasted soo good that it had to be marinated for a crazy long time. I wonder if they use the traditional "Dum" method where a huge cauldron is layered with rice, meat, crispy fried onions, spices, eggs, n errthang good. They def used ghee too. I could tell. My plate also came with a lime wedge, a slice of fresh red onion, half of a hard boiled egg, and 2 little ramekins filled with what seemed like a ghee based spicy sauce and cucumber raita. I'm glad I didn't order any bullshit sides cause this was enough. I didn't even finish it all cause I'm trying to keep my sexy figure in check. This place is incredible! We were the only non-Indians in the place, which I take as a good sign for an Indian restaurant! Tucked away in a little alcove off of Rt. 40, about a hundred meters from Double T Diner, lies Paradise Biryani Pointe. The staff are friendly, though our person was occasionally a bit difficult to understand. The food was delicious. My friend got a chicken Malai Kabob, which I thought sounded so boring, but I was wrong! I never knew chicken breast could be so moist and delicious! A fantastic yogurt marinade is the key, and it blends beautifully with the basmati rice. I got a chicken Tikka Masala, probably a good litmus test for the rest of the food on the menu. Thick sauce and spicy! YUM! I had made Khadai Paneer at home a couple of times and wanted to try theirs. Similar (but fantastic) flavors, though theirs had a good bit more sauce, which is totally fine with me! When you order, you'll see that for most dishes, you get to choose the "star" of your dish: beef, chicken, fish, goat/lamb, paneer, vegetables, eggs, shrimp, gobi (cauliflower).... I had never seen an Indian place do this. I think it's brilliant! Most dishes can be modified according to the level of spicy you prefer as well. This control over the dishes ensures that you're going to get a winning dish every time. Most of the others patrons ordered the variety of biryani dishes. I had never had it, but the big mound of flavored rice, mixed veggies and meat looked fantastic. And, seeing as so many people were ordering it, and the restaurant even has it in its name, I will certainly grab a plate of it next time I come in; it's gotta be good! The mango lassi was very thick, but not overbearingly so. Very rich and delicious. I'd definitely get it again. I'm expecting to upgrade this to at least 4 stars next time we go and order more wisely. Meal stayed off great with the crispy cauliflower and tandoori wings. I could have eaten 3 or four more orders if both. Next, I got the Hariyali Kabob. I misinterpreted the menu which said "marinated in a rich spinach based gravy." I thought that meant it would come with gravy but it did not. The chicken was nicely cooked (but very spicy!) but I was really hoping for sauce. Next time, I'll order the Saag. My BF ordered the fish biryani and it was basically a huge plate of rice with some fish sticks. They're was nothing in the rice except a few fried onions on top. Every other biryani I've ever tried had lots more going on. I felt bad because I basically bullied him into ordering it so I could try it (gotta watch my carbs). He wanted to order the Saag and I talked him out of it. Next time I'll let him order what he wants. Word if advice, don't order extra Naan. It comes with EVERYTHING so if you're not careful, you'll have a table full :) The staff was really nice and understanding when I tried (and failed) to pronounce things I'd never ordered before. I hate to write this but this place has gone down beyond recovery. I ordered A Chilly Chicken, a Paneer dish and a Bread Basket. The Chicken was gone rubbery and some pieces were hard (probably by heating over and over) meaning left over from previous days. The Bread was half cooked and was all raw inside. Paneer was all right and I had it with the rice given with it. The chicken and the Bread were inedible and I threw it in trash can. It's with an extremely heavy heart that I write this review. I have written maybe 2 or 3 reviews total and never any bad reviews because I feel every restaurant can have a bad day and one should not judge the place on one experience. However what I experienced tonight is almost unforgivable by any standards. I walked into the restaurant with my father at 8pm. At that time only a family of three was sitting eating their meal. We placed our order. An extremely simple seekh kebob and tandoori chicken with a chat as an appetizer. We took our seats at which time 2 more gentlemen walked in and placed their orders. After about 15 minutes had passed I walked up to the gentleman who took my order (now busy taking phone orders) and asked him the status and he responded that it was almost done. Thinking this as reasonable answer I walked back to my seat. However I had noticed that the 2 gentleman that entered after us had already received at-least a portion of their meal. Another 10 minutes go by and I decide to ask him what happened to the appetizer thinking that he had forgotten. He said that the appetizer is coming right out and that they are still working on the main food. This time when I walked back to my table I noticed that all the patrons that had come in after us also had received their food. I assumed that perhaps they had only ordered small premade items. Another 5-10min go by so I grabbed one of the waiters and asked about our order. He said that he will go make the chat right now and that the chicken and seekh kebob will take some time. I was shocked. 30 minutes and they hadn't even started on our order while nearly everyone had gotten their meals. I went to the cashier who then quickly brings out what looks like a premixed bag of chat loosely thrown onto a plate. He then gives me the option to wait or he can cancel the order. When I ask him how much longer for the meal he runs into ththe kitchen and then comes back out saying that he will just cancel the order. Speechless. First time in my life I have ever witnessed this. I would've understood had he told me that our meat dishes would take some time to cook. However he assured me several times that the food was on its way. Normally I would take my refund and not cared but in the time this entire ordeal took all the other Indian restaurants in the area had closed. Now since I never got to have any of the food I can't rate that. However everyone who came after us seemed to enjoy it. I wont say don't come here just make sure BEFORE you order you find out how long the food will take. I really like this place. The food taste great and in my experience always get the order right. The only thing that I don't like is the is that they cut corners by offering limited portions on some items. For instance, on the Butter Chicken, you get about 4 small pieces of chicken. After the first serving your left with a plastic container filled with sauce. Same goes for the Chicken Tikka Masala, 4 pieces and a bunch of sauce; although they attempt to make it look like a big portion by including big chunks of peppers and onions. Compared to other restaurants, their portions are very limited. And when you ask for something MILD for the kids, you have to ask for EXTRA MILD as they like taking it up a notch. read more

Their Breads suck. I think they have employed cheap untrained labor (as it is done by other Indian restaurants these days and they suck as well) for making Naan, who make Naan like a Pizza. They need to bring in a Trained Tandoor Oven Specialist (called "Tandooria") for making Naan and other Breads, if they need to be exclusive. read more

The reason I'm giving only 3 stars is: I arrived there at 3:35pm this afternoon, having not eaten lunch at work today. I was told the kitchen closes from 3:30-5pm, so I could only order chicken biryani, lollipop chicken app, samosas, or one other app that I can't even remember. Errr what? The hours on the front door say all day... they don't specify lunch and dinner! I understand that they're still open with severely limited options, but that should be advertised. I was especially annoyed that on top of it, he literally said, "if you had come in at 3:30 I could have taken your order from the full menu." Okay well that's nice to know at 3:35. I always wanted to try some authentic Indian food and my friend told me this is the one to go. We visited on a Saturday around noon. The place was a little bit tricky to find since it hides behind a layer of small houses, but finding a parking spot was easy, which is always a plus. We started our meal with a can of Thumbs Up, a brand of cola in India, and mango lassi. Loved the mango lassi! It was so smooth and flavorful, not overly sweet with a nice hint of cardamom. Food choices at Paradise was great. We tried the chill chicken (hot), lamb biryani (mild) and ended our meal with rasmalai (a must try). I like that you can pick different proteins and spicy level for each dish based on your preferences, it adds so much more variety to the menu. I really enjoyed the biryani. The lamb was tender, juicy and flavorful, topped with fluffy and slightly buttered rice. I also came with two different sauces but the rice was so good I can eat it plain.
