First time taking a dive into Dominican food and I wasn't disappointed at all. Popped into Parada Maimon right before a concert at the Underground arts. Perfect pre-entertainment meal. Great value and portion size. Big helping of rice and beans. Gentlemen working the register was super kind and made a great recommendation.

Wanted some DR food and thanks to Yelp! I found Prada Maimon. Cute corner establishment with street parking within walking distance. The staff was hands down welcoming, sweet and made you feel like family. They were so attentive and made you feel comfortable and didn't rush you for ordering. MALTA "Drink Choice" *So refreshing and needed with my meal, they even gave me a cup of ice but traditionally you just drink this straight up from the bottle. I haven't had this in forever. PASTELLIOS (CHEESE) **Been wanting this since June and finally got this. Gooey and the right amount of cheese and crispness. I had to order extra for later lol WHITE RICE & BLACK BEANS ***Portion was a lot and enough to have another meal the next day. Rice was soft and perfectly cooked, beans were good but I just wish sauce was a tad bit thicker and a little less sodium. SAUTÉED SHRIMP WITH ONIONS & PEPPERS ****Soooo seasoned, cooked well, even the juices were a great addition to the rice. Shrimp was good size and tasted amazing. I wonder if they have this in fried form bc I def would get that next time. FLAN *****Last but not least, the dessert. This was ok, I just wish it had more of a creamy texture and taste. Since I'm a baker, I'm a lil particular on desserts but maybe this is perfect for someone else. Presentation beautiful and caramel was a delight. I loved this spot and if I'm in town again, I would definitely revisit, the welcoming atmosphere made it worth coming back to in the near future.

special was super value. I'd rate the food 3 star and price to quantity 5 star. I'll come back to try another dish

Delicious food, great prices! We ate in but this place seems great for take out too. We loved the ropa vieja, oxtail, fish bites and plantains, as well as the passion fruit and tamarind drinks. We came in late and the owner was the only one working and he was very friendly. BYOB which is always great. Heard their desserts are delicious too but didn't get a chance to try. Highly recommend

OMG so good! Better than good- great!! We are and are until we could eat no more (then I had a few more bites)! We couldn't be happier. At least 10 meals in 3 days while we're visiting town (most we split) this time we HAD to indulge!! So glad we did. If you're reading this just go! East and be merry!!

Lo mejor de lo mejor. The best of the best. The food is always delicious with lots of flavor and they give good portions for a great price. Other dominican spots are abusing with the prices. I LOVE THIS SPOT. 10 stars.

    Goat Stewed Lunch Special

Food: 4 Out of 5 Ordered the goat stew lunch special. I did not regret it. They provided huge portions of Spanish rice/beans, a side salad, & a portion of the goat. Goat was tender and not game-y. Flavors are on point. I just wished they gave more of the meat. Service: 4.5 Out of 5 Ordered for to go. Know what you want because time is money. Environment: 4.5 Out of 5 Small casual restaurant, can seat about 25-35 people. Overall: 4 Out of 5 I've never had Dominican food until now. Delicious flavors & great prices. Take advantage of their lunch specials!

Parada Maimon is a double threat. Good food and good prices. Everything here is super cheap at dinner time and they practically give away their lunch specials free of charge at lunch time. The portion sizes are huge here but I always like to order some French fries or empanadas to start the meal. Both are fried to perfection. My favorite entries are the ox tail stew and pork mofongo. The ox tail is always so tender and served with a massive heap of rice and beans. I also go with yellow rice and black beans. Mofongo is always on the dry side so I like to pour the entire bowl of sauce on and then wait for a minute for the sauce to soak in before I tear in. The pork and plantains are compressed into a container before serving so once you start breaking it apart with your fork you will realize that you are probably dealing with close to a pound of plantains and pork. I have also started to experiment with their fresh juices. I am a huge fan of the mango and papaya juices. They also have these tiny little fruit mentas they tuck into the checkbook. I cannot get enough of those little candies. I am tempted to buy a 1,000 count bag online. Someone stop me from clicking the checkout button, or just take me back to Parada Maimon.

It was not crowded at lunch, but we got there when it first opened. We looked at the food up front, and inquired about the things that looked good. We ordered the pernil, sweet plantains, goat, skirt steak, winter squash stuffed with chicken, shrimp ceviche, mashed potatoes, yellow rice & beans, and tres leches. That was a lot of food- and we had it for lunch and dinner. We have leftovers for tomorrow. Everything was delicious. I usually don't like mashed potatoes at restaurants, but I liked these. My husband and I reviewed which food was our favorite. He liked the skirt steak with the yellow rice and beans. I think I like the goat with the rice and beans. I usually don't Iike rice, but I am a fan of rice and beans. I didn't get chicken thighs and legs that looked good, because we ordered so much food. The person behind the counter was very friendly and hopeful. The restaurant was still clean.

But then I walked into this spot and was immediately hit with the holy trinity: merengue, típico, and bachata blasting like it was a Saturday in Santiago. First off, shoutout to Christine--our waitress--who was sweet, chill, and had us feeling like VIPs. Then there's Jasmine, aka the Mamajuana Queen . She knew my happiness window was limited, so she made it her mission to turn the vibe ALL the way up. And then... she hit us with the cured Mamajuana shots. Not just a drink--this was ancestral medicine. Now let's talk FOOD. Dominican sushi. Yes. Tres. Golpes. In. A. Sushi. Roll. I almost cried. Then came the skirt steak with tostones and baby, let me tell you... I've never looked at a plate with that much respect. My husband had pork chops with arroz y habichuelas, and my friend smashed the chimi tostones like it was her last meal on Earth. The place? Clean. Cute. Culture-rich. And if you're not ready to go home after dinner, guess what? There's a club upstairs. That's right--dinner downstairs, dance battle upstairs. Dominican efficiency at its finest. Final verdict: This spot is a whole experience. Not just food--this is a vibe, a reunion, a spiritual realignment. If you're Dominican and homesick, GO. If you're not Dominican but love flavor and joy, GO. If you don't like this place... honestly, I can't trust your taste buds.
