horrible food tasted like someone already ate my burger, m all my fiends food also flavourless and tasted like so ass.

Solid offerings on the menu here. A few wraps, a few burgers, chicken, ribs and pasta. Walked in as a group of 6 and there were only two tables that big, most are four seaters. The garage door wall opens to a patio right on the main drive thru town and would make a great summer hang-out spot. I ordered poutine (living in the states that's not something we see much and I'm a HUGE fan). The meal size portion is served in a bowl just a bit larger than a cereal bowl but this is rich hearty food and the portion size was great. Lots of cheese curds and a flavorful gravy. Husband ordered reuben and was not disappointed. Service was a little slow, but pleasant. read more

Food and service was very good. I had ¼ chicken - dark meat and my husband had ¼ chicken and rib combo. The chicken was nice and moist. They have a nice patio for outside dining. Inside the tables are nicely spaced apart. read more

Wait, south, was absolutely friendly an exceptional. The portions are quite large. The children's burger was as big as the burger. My husband ordered. A little bit pricey for what you got. The appy basket was over fried and salty. The Greek salad platter was delicious and the poutine was yummy. read more

food was amazing, large portions and quick service, waitresses were kind and helpful and the vibe of the restaurant was very pleasant

I should give this place 5 stars to balance out the negative reviews...our experience was pretty decent. Btw, google gave this place 3.9/5 stars on 300+ reviews. We came here because two separate people recommended it. My gf had the lasagna and i had the qrtr chicken and ribs with sweet potatoe fries. First off, their homemade chipotle dip is delicious. Put it on fries and especially on the chicken. Wow. The ribs were fall off the bone. The lasagna was really tasty...great flavours. Btw, the side veg was super flavourful! Our service was good and we would come again. I think this place received some lopsided negative reviews...not to say they weren't true to their experiences, but not balanced compared to our solid experience. We would easily come back if in the neighbourhood. read more

I have to say, we were thoroughly disappointed with our experience here. The service was not very good, and the food was worse. As someone who spent a lot of time in the service industry, when you ask someone how their food is and they hesitate and then stumble to say "it's ok, thanks", because they clearly don't want to be a bother, "great!" and walking away, isn't something I would've done. I try to give the benefit of the doubt, so perhaps the servers are used to people being disappointed in the food, and perhaps ours in particular had no authorization to do anything about it. The table next to us also struck up a conversation about how disappointed they were in their experience... As a side note, when your menu says "not to be immodest, but we come from a family of fishermen & this is the best kalamari you'll ever have"...well, in this case it set a really unrealistic expectation. The 2 stars instead of 1, was because my husband enjoyed his beer. read more

I absolutely feel compelled to review this place. I'd actually give them more of a 3.5 but I have REAL reasons, not the ignorant reviews of people that have never worked in a restaurant. Ok. First and foremost, the service is slow and kinda crappy. That's why they didn't get more stars. Having said that, and please pay attention to this, this is not their (the servers) entire fault. Having been a server for over 20 years, I completely understand the restaurant dynamic, and when you are being employed as a server and also expected to hostess, do takeout, answer the phone, bus tables, and all the crap that happens in the background that guests aren't privy too, it wears you down. It's a nightmare. And most guests that write these reviews are like, well, it wasn't busy so why did it take 3 minutes for my beer? How about you guys shut the hell up till you work in that situation. Again; please notice, I did NOT give 5 stars. Actually gave 3. I, from my couple of hours there, having btw, an AWESOME TASTING DINNER, did pay attention to the running of the place. The servers are all miserable, and that's a shame. One in particular was noticeably annoyed by life, we heard her bitching constantly, but again, I am not completely blaming the staff. I truly think this place needs better management. Someone who understands what it's like to be a server. Someone who gets that just because you want to save a couple bucks during Covid or just being in a small town or whatever your issue is, take care of staff. If you don't want to put out the cash, then do the job yourself. I would never return. Not because the food was bad, but solely because I wouldn't put money in the pocket of someone who has no clue how to run a shop and take care of the employees and actually give a shit. read more

I've seen this place a few times while driving through Oliver and vowed one day I'll stop. Today was the day. Touring the Cactus Jalopies "Show'n Shine" in Osoyoos left me wanting. Not only did I desire a car like the many beautiful machines I saw but the walking and drooling created a hunger, and thirst, within me. Seemed like today should be the day to visit Pappa's Firehall Bistro. Like a previous reviewer said it may have been better to check reviews before I stopped in. It may have saved me the effort of dropping in. That said I have visited other restaurants with poor(er) reviews and found them quite delightful so stopping here could never been seen as a mistake. The building is quaint, and plays on the "Firehall" theme. No idea if it was really a firehall at some point in it's life. Google can be the judge of that, but I found it interesting and fairly clean in the rooms that demanded it. As I entered I was greeted at the door by a very pleasant young lady who directed me to sit wherever I felt most comfortable. That seemed like a good start. I chose a shady spot on the patio. The Bistro is on the main street of Oliver so be prepared for road noise if sitting out there. My server Jodie came around fairly quickly and took my order. She seemed to be a bit harried and was possibly the only server outside. There was little to no friendly banter at that point nor getting to know your customer. That could've been my clue. I ordered a glass of the "Firehall Backdraft Blonde". It's Happy Hour so I'll see if I get the HH price. To go with it I chose the 1/4 rack of ribs and the poutine. A good balanced meal in my mind. The beer came very quickly and the food shortly after. I sampled the poutine first and was 'acceptable'. It was just ok, nothing to write home about. The ribs were another story, on the negative side. While the taste was ok the temperature and texture were poor. They were almost cold and somewhat dried out.As other reviewers mentioned it seemed as if they were microwaved. I've had significantly better ribs from the frozen food section at Costco, and that was before heating. All kidding aside they could've been much better. The beers were ok however and after my meal, when paying the bill, I had an interesting chat with my server. Sounds like her lot in life at the Bistro is not all it's cracked up to be either. Her interactions with some customers have left her a bit jaded. All in all it wasn't a bad visit however the food certainly brought down the marks. Cole's notes for Pappa's Firehall Bistro are: 3.0 for service, 2.5 for food (3.0 for drinks), 3.5 for decor, 3.0 for price. Overall a 3.0 read more

Brought a youth volleyball team here on a Saturday night over spring break while we were in town for a tournament. Made a reservation for 14 people to arrive at 7:30. We were running late and they had no issue moving it out to 7:45 for us. One server for the entire party- got all the orders right and was super efficient at topping up drinks. Food was great, appys were all 2 for 1 after 8pm. Happy with our meal, happy with the experience. read more

Note to self: ALWAYS check Yelp before just diving in somewhere. When our first choice was unavailable, I was drawn to this place based on it being a brewery and close to where we parked. Every so often, you come across a restaurant where the people doing the cooking are clearly not interested in food themselves. This is one of them. I ordered ribs, which came with vegetables. The ribs were tough and clearly hadn't seen a grill recently. I suspect they had been defrosted and warmed over in a microwave. The sauce was straight out of a bottle. The vegetables were disgusting - brussels sprouts and baby-cut carrots that had been boiling overnight. My wife's thanksgiving dinner was bland and tasteless and appeared to consist of mostly pre-packaged components. Looking at the reviews afterwards, it's clear that I'm not the first person to have this kind of experience. read more

Our saviours! After a crappy few hours of dealing with crappy and fraudulent AirBnb bookings, we rolled in at 21:30 pleading for food. The service was delightful, not rushed and they still gave us all the deals, and specials. Food was hot, fresh and tasty. Exactly what we needed. Really good value as well. Plus the draft beers they provide were well made and tasty. We will definitely return read more

They're either understaffed or servers are undertrained because on a moderately busy Friday night they were totally in the weeds. Drink orders took a long time and the server checked on us infrequently. Three of five meals came out together and two of them were cold. The other two never showed up even though one was a soup and the other a salad. No one ever came to check on how the meal was going. The cold meals were comped and the other two cancelled. The warm meal was good, they know how to do ribs well. It's worth a gamble because there's really nothing else in town except fast food and pizza but avoid if you're in a big group or going at a busy time. read more

It's probably more like a 3.2 or something but also feel like some of the reviews on here are a bit unfair. Had the full rack of ribs on special (2 for 1) and a caesar (cocktail). Service was pleasant. Meat and roasted potatoes were tasty. The mixed vegetables were pretty bleh: mushy and swimming in a sort of nondescript, greasy sauce. If you as a business want to improve things that veg dish would be a good place to start. The drink was also pretty middling: kind of gritty and not a great recipe. Overall the experience was ok but it's time to revive your rep Pappa's. read more

Tried Pappa's 3 times in the last 1.5 months since moving here. Burgers for take out were very tasty though a bit pricey, went for lunch once, very friendly service but lasagna fell short on taste, too salty, Bellini was very good, 3rd visit we didn't even stay to order, we waited almost 20mins before a server came out to ask if we'd ordered, "nope actually we're leaving now". Restaurant is obviously understaffed, the servers try their best, but for the prices charged, more is expected. Side note: while we waited at a table for almost 20mins a kitchen staff member (cook) sat at a table next to us chatting with other customers... left a "bad taste" in my mouth... 1 star for the Bellini and 1 star for the take out burger... read more

Took my wife here for her birthday and it was a terrible experience. Wife ordered 9oz of one wine got 6oz of another variety. My pasta had a watery sauce and Stone cold garlic toast. After eating at Pappa's a few times, I would have to say going back unless I'm dragged won't be an option. The food was not great. Service was on the lower side. Yes we get your busy. But doing a quick check in after a meal is places is always helpful. I see people in here often. And mostly it was my parents who took me here. Bland food to say the least no matter what I tried. At the prices they want you would expect a chef cooked meal. Fresh veggies, and so on. Any hooo I could go on and on but bottom line after my kids convinced me to go again because they like the cool building, being an old firehall. That's the only reason besides the drinks that I can see that there are people in here often, or maybe they are fans of the White Spot, McDonalds crowd with their frozen type of terrible food, and they wouldn't know a good meal if they had one. I tried the shrimp, a burger, over three visits. Two different burgers. At least they were good about not putting the burgers on a bun for me. So the building and the fact that I wanted gluten free, by choice didn't seem to be a huge issue like a few other places. Ie auntie Ags in Oliver. Only if it's not busy speech I always get from them for the shrimp. Which by the way is super annoying. I'm the customer remember? Anyways getting off topic here. The building and the gluten 'tolerance' they had for me, is the reason I'm giving it a two star instead of 1 because, when we take in the totally forget about, except it's not good food details of the restaurant. I love the winery's around these parts. They have some fantastic meals try them. Venture off the beaten path. Look at my other reviews for a few of my favs. I'm just getting started with this yelp thing. Happy Eating. read more

Chicken gumbo soup was very salty. Our waitress was on her own agenda. Atmosphere nice. Fireplace in women's washroom...

I went with a party of 6 and we were all unsatisfied with the portion sizes. The chicken strips and fish appeared to be out of the frozen section from Costco. We paid $17 for two prawn skewers and a side salad. The 12 ounce beer was served in an 8 ounce glasses...pretty sure they mixed up their water glasses with their beer glasses. We asked the server and they changed ownership 1.5 years ago which explains our disappointment, as we were here two years ago and the food was great and the portion sizes were generous. We won't go back and we hope this review sends you elsewhere. read more

I was in Oliver, and was talking to somebody who visited the area often, they said we should check out the Firehall Bistro for dinner, well so we did. The place was ckean, server friendly, we ordered a house tap Ember Ale beer was okay, Prices seemed a little in the high side $7.75 for a 16oz "sleeve" plus taxes I assume. I ordered the Steak and Shrimp and wife ordered Chicken with Yam fries and a side of veggies with dip. The veggies arrived 4 chopped Carrot sticks and 4 Cucumber sticks and a bowl of ranch dip. Was okay. Took over 30 minutes for our main course to arrive, my steak looked nothing like the photos on the menu, and shrimp on skewer were small. The wife says chicken was okay, the yam fries were greasy and soggy and cold. I ordered my steak med rare, and received med well to med. I didn't complain because I didn't want to wait another half hour for food. The prices for the quality of food are a complete mis match. The server didn't visit us often enough I guess she was busy. Anyhow I don't think I'll ever visit this place again unless they drastically reduce their prices. Which seems unlikely. It's Oliver and of course it's a bit much too ask for a 5 star restaurant in this town. But still the food could've been better. read more

We waited for 10 minutes to even find a host (ess). No one around. I eventually went downstairs to see if anyone was working there as a lineup was forming outside but there was no sign of anyone to seat you even tho there was a sign asking to wait to be seated. This is important to note that they were NOT busy when this happened. I shouldn't have to go find someone. Finally found someone and made a reservation. Came back an hour later and waited with 3 other groups while they also waited ages for their table. I should sidebar mention this is Corona virus year and literally no precautions were taken. No masks, no plexiglass, no distance between staff and customers, no sanitizing and no hand washing by staff. Even watched their bus girl put 4 straws into 4 glasses at once while touching the mouth tip all simultaneously. Now the wait! Waited for a drink order, waited for empty plates to be removed for ages, waited to be asked if we wanted another drink. Omg we were getting frustrated. Ok, the food! The food arrived tasting nothing but ketchup on the ribs. And I wish I'd taken a photo of my fish and chips because I've never seen a smaller, sadder piece of fish in. My. Live. There were literally 8 fries. And we had an appy and I was still hungry after! Everything took forever and the food was overpriced and the smallest portions ever. I'd actually forget most of the shitty parts if the price, food, or portion, was great, but none were! Perhaps charge less for this travesty of food and service. You only have so many places in this town. Awful! Just bloody awful! If I could I'd give them a straight zero. read more

One star is too many. My brothers and sisters and I and some friends went into this restaurant this evening in search of dinner. Granted it was late for small town standards, but there were eight of us who wanted to eat. At first we were told the wait would be 10 minutes. We were ok with that. We waited. Then a male manager came hanging around the entrance. I offered to clean the tables so we could sit down, but he mumbled something about health and safety. By the time we had waited more than 30 minutes I went to ask the young woman cleaning the tables in an empty section if we could come and sit down. She said that she couldn't seat anyone until the whole section was cleaned. Shortly after that, we left. By the time we finally left we had been waiting 40 minutes. This is absolutely unacceptable. We would have been comfortable had someone come and said that it was late and that they couldn't fit us in, but at at no point did any one acknowledge this might be an issue. I'm not blaming the waitress, but the so called manager is incompetent at best. WORST SERVICE EVER! Just don't go there! read more

After many poor meals here I was convinced to give it another try only to be disappointed again. The food tastes old and frozen. I had a quarter chicken with vegetables and rice. The rice was tasted and smelled old and clearly microwaved. The chicken was dry and difficult to remove from the bone, although the flavour was ok. The only reason I gave two stars instead of one is because the server was apologetic and kind. I will not be going back. read more
