I've lived in the area for a couple of months now and am slowly discovering the neighbourhood. Last week, with temperatures hovering around 35 - 38 degrees, we needed to escape to AC-filled restaurants. The AC in Pappa's is a little weak, but it's there. Definitely better than sitting in my hot hot house and melting into the couch. I ordered the BLT and added cheddar cheese. The bread was perfectly toasty and the bacon was crisp. I was very happy with my meal. The boyfriend ordered the Seafood Ceasar salad.... we couldn't believe how large it was. I assume the crab is imitation, but I couldn't say for sure. The teenager got a bacon cheddar burger. There was probably half a pound of cheese melted onto that bad boy. She said it was good! We also ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms to start.... I was really impressed! first off... it's not actually stuffed. But I actually liked it better this way. There was a thick layer of sliced mushrooms on the bottom, then a layer of crab meat, then a mound of cheese that was sizzling on top. It was very tasty. read more

Small little pizza place on 118 Ave. I stopped in strictly because I've driven by a hundred times and was curious. I'll be honest, really good pizza. Nice crisp crust, fresh toppings. Not too greasy, but just enough to remind you that you're eating good pizza. The clubhouse is pretty good too. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that my lettuce was a little wilted. Sorry, I'm picky about my lettuce. Otherwise great service, good food. I'll update my review after my next visit because I'm definitely going back. read more

So I live in Beverly. This is my to go place for Pizza. If you like thick crust please try this place. It is so delicious. Tonnes of toppings, beautifully cooked...and delicious. My kid finds the pizza too greasy so she likes ordering their clubhouse or BLT sandwich. If I am not in the mood for pizza, their baked pastas are amazing and have a sinful amount of cheese on them. Take out is good. Not much to look at on the inside. I would love it if the owners invested more in revamping the place. Really Beverly needs a good place to meet for a cold beer and some great pub food. The food is excellent but the décor isn't the place where you would meet friends to watch a game or have a good time. So go ahead and enjoy the food. I would suggest though take it out and eat it at the comfort of your own home. read more

There is a Pappa's in just about every Edmonton neighbourhood. Sure, it will have a different name, but the atmosphere will be that of a mom and pop steak and pizza house, and the menu will contain the usual variety of pizzas, sandwiches, appetizers, and burgers. The pizza will be loaded with toppings and cheese, while the other menu items will be decent - not necessarily the highest quality in the world, but freshly made and of a good portion. Pappa's is located in the Beverly area. While certainly not a destination, it is a great place to head if you are in the area and crave some comfort food. The pizza is excellent and comes in a small personal size as well as ones suitable for sharing. There are a lot of independently-owned steak and pizza joints in this part of town and I am not sure how Pappa's compares, but I have certainly experienced this kind of restaurant in other parts of the city and it definitely makes the grade. read more

This is a good little place and would be a decent, but not fancy, place to stop before a hockey game or concert at Rexall Place. It reminds me of what one would have found in a smaller city about 10 - 15 years ago. Basic, but good, pizza, and steaks and a few other things. I think the steak sandwich is one of the better value items on the menu. The Pappa's Burger is quite wonderful, if a little over-sized, with 2 patties, mushrooms, onions, bacon, ham and a few others things Avoid the salads. read more

Best burgers ever!! So juicy and amazing for the price! Salads are very generous for the price as well. One of my favourite restaurants. A little greasy on the toast however, this will always be my go to for a fresh salad or delicious burger. The pizza is thick and loaded, which is not my preference. I love the lasagna. The atmosphere is a nice place. They have some good food options and they also have bad options. Try there fish and chips they're one of my favourites. They put tons of cheese on there pizza so you don't ever have to ask for more. I love their pizza. Don't get their Nachos they use weird chips. I love their French fries and Baked Potatoes. I had not been here for a year or so but was extremely disappointed when I did return. It took a long time to be seated despite having only 3 tables with customers. The Waitress took her time taking our order then continually disappeared. When the food finally came the hamburgers were poor quality and so greasy that I chose not to eat more than 2 bites. When we tried to complain the waitress disappeared into a bathroom and did not return. We finally went up front and got some one from the kitchen to come down and give us our bill. He disputed our claim of the food and said no one ever complained despite our plates being more than half full he would not give a discount when we asked what was up with the waitress he said they had been really busy earlier. If your in the mood for hearty home cooking papa's is exactly what your looking for. Do not get this place mixed up with any other papa's resturant, its not part of a chain. Papa's is has a lovely sit down resturant area, they also deliver almost there whole menu or you can call ahead and pick-up your food on the way home from work. There pizza is simple and delicious, there is no fancy pizza flavors just your basic pizza's and a few of there special pizza's, but they are all awesome! The pizza crust is like no other pizza crust i've had, its a wonderful change from the norm! They also have a variety of other food items like salads, donairs, sandwiches, pasta dishes, even steaks all that they will deliver to your door (if your within the delivery radius). I am not a burger fan but there Hawaiian burger or Canadian burger is just to DYE for!! and there lasagna is awesome! Basically what i'm trying to say is that everything i've eaten from papa's (and that's pretty much everything since i order from there at least once or twice a week) is a delicious and healthier option to the usual take out place and more variety! read more

I've been here over 30 years ago. It was the very first Boston Pizza. In the late 90's it was purchased by the current owner. I remember my hockey team was sponsored by the Boston pizza that was here so I thought why not stop in while strolling down memory lane and have a bite. I ordered a small pizza. Ham, pineapple, mushroom, tomato cooked, black olives. My goto favorite. The amount of topping they put on was perfect. And the crust is perfect. Also to mention the chef cooked the pizza perfectly. A lot of times you must order this pizza well done due to all the toppings but the chef was on point and did it perfect. Prices are very reasonable. The interior is not fine dining but hey who wants that when they grabbing some pie with the family right. read more

After getting a flyer in our mailbox we thought we would give it a try and order some takeout. We placed our order over the phone and the man taking the order was very nice and professional (which is why they get 2 stars). When I went inside to pick up our food I had to wait for a while for someone to even acknowledge me. When someone finally came to see me I said it was for pickup and the lady made me stand to the side saying: "I don't know where it is, wait there". She then proceeded to seat families that had walked in after me and check out people that also showed up to the till after I did. All that before asking anyone about my order. When eventually everyone else had been taking care of, she peeked in the back and asked about my order to which the man replied it was sitting right there on the counter. We get our order and go home. Maybe good food would redeem them, well unfortunately ... no. Bland and greasy is about all I can say. Not even any hope for a second chance, ever. read more

I have been going here for years, it isn't a fancy place, but it has that casual, comfortable diner-type feeling. The potato skins are fantastic, they are basically a meal by themselves. The new bar they've added does make the dining room feel a little bit crowded now, but the quality of the food remains excellent. read more

Beware of this place! The food is generally poor or at least inconsistent! We have known and supported these folks for 20 years and we have watched them sink lower and lower in recent years. They used to make a decent pizza but apparent cost cutting in the quality of the products combined with generally unskilled staff led by an unprofessional and indifferent owner has really sent this place downhill. Our last few try's at supporting Papas were not good and not worth the money. Our most recent pizza experience was disgusting. The meat (allegedly pepperoni) tasted like the cheapest nitrate filled bologna I have ever come across! The dough was so soggy and gross that one could not hold a single piece in hand. When we contacted management they told us that we were of course wrong but that they would comp us the next pizza. Of course that never happened. The next and final try was for wings and pizza. I like salt and pepper wings which is why I ordered them but they were so salt covered they were absolutely inedible. I couldn't swallow a mouthful. Ok so no big deal, just call the restaurant and let them know so we could work it out. Sadly, the owners response was to deny our claim and insult my wife. He told us to shake off the excess salt and endure it. Then he went on to say that we complain too much! We dared to complain (twice) about the wings in twenty years! No respect, no negotiation, no resolution just insults. So that's what you can expect from this over charging underperforming poor excuse for a restaurant. I deeply regret supporting this greasy spoon through its apparent hard times from which it apparently never recovered. Now they plan to reno and open a lounge area. Perhaps they will continue to survive despite their mediocrity. Wont that just be great? Count me out! There are real restaurants with real chefs and real trained staff within walking distance of this old dump so please remember that you can always do better nearby. read more

Great family place with good food! We always go there for family birthdays and have a good time. The food is always great ! And they have a jukebox you can play music on. There turn over rate with servers seem a bit high, in the 4 years of eating there we've only seen the same waitress twice, every time it's a new one. They also typically only have one waitress on so when it gets busy the service lacks due to her being so busy. I recommended not going during dinner rush just in case. But the lasagna is one of the best in town ! read more

I have been eating here for about 10 years now and i have always loved eating here. The food is delicious and the atmosphere here is perfect for family gatherings. The only thing that I question is that sometimes when i eat here it seems to take a little to much time for food to get to our table, despite only having a few customers. read more
