Tucked away by the Destination Geneva golf course and country club's clubhouse, Turf is one of their restaurants, open to the public. Prices are better than you'd expect for a place with panoramic views of the golf course - a burger, fries, and cocktail set me back about $30 - and my server, Mitch, did a great job regularly checking in on me and making me feel right at home in an environment I'm not accustomed to dining in. All in all, a solid experience and I'll likely be back at some point when I'm in the area.

We decided to order some pulled beef thing they had with Mac n cheese and fish fry, pulled chicken and soup. We brought the food home to eat. As you can see from the pictures it was not appealing. It was so disgusting we couldn't eat it. My wife told me that whim we were in the car she noticed the people working there were not even using gloves. They were touching the cash register, touching food then touching a clean up rag and back to the food. Completely unsanitary. For people that know meat they definitely do no know how to cook it or understand bbq. Unless something changes, we will NOT be going back. I really hate writing bad reviews too...but this could not be ignored.

We ordered cheese curds and the sampler platter with an iced tea and spotted cow. We sat on the outdoor patio under an umbrella and enjoyed the fountain. Then we were served 2 trays of food for the sampler platter which consisted of pork, brisket, ribs, hot chips, corn bread, baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, and Mac n cheese. My favorite was the ribs, they had a really good rub. Friendly, fast service. Easy to get to from the interstate, maybe 2 minutes.

You can actually see the chef cooking if you're near the bar or the entrance. The place appeared to be very clean. It's kind of an older bar however it was clean and appeared to be freshly painted in the new section next-door, which is now part of this restaurant. Our waitress was a gal that I've seen before that's from my town and she is very friendly and very good at her job. Her appearance was meet clean and she is a good waitress. She explained the menu a little bit and we ordered a bagel sandwich which came with hashbrowns and the corned beef bay breakfast. The corned beef breakfast was literally two biscuits with poached eggs, corn, beef, cheese, and sour cream. It also was topped with hollandaise sauce Actually look pretty good. The taste was totally unexpected and amazing. Their hashbrowns appear to be freshly made from the kitchen and not frozen. They were lightly salted and very good. The bagel was huge and had plenty of Canadian bacon, egg, and cheese. Once again, the sandwich was amazing! Not only did the food present itself beautifully for my pictures, it also tasted great. As for the price, slightly higher than many places, we have eaten breakfast at in recent weeks, however not much higher. Maybe average a buck or two higher than the competition. Well worth it though! The coffee also was really good at this location.

At some point, they expanded the restaurant so it can easily handle over 150 people and I'm guessing anywhere is up to 180 people. Was very clean inside and appears that it had been painted not too long ago. Our waitress was Alaina. Hope I spelled, her name right. Very good waitress and made sure she took care of us. I had a few questions about the food on the menu and she had all the answers. I got what I think was called the sweet potato brisket skillet. My girlfriend had just eggs, toast, hashbrowns with bacon. She said the coffee was OK. She's a little fussy with the coffee so we've had a few places where it's been great. She says it's drinkable and she liked it. Good enough! They give you generous portions of food. The bacon was cooked crispy the way she likes it and the eggs were done perfectly. Hashbrowns taste fresh and good and never cooked perfectly. They under utilize salt, but there's probably a good reason for it and that's why you have salt at the table. The skillet I had, however, was real good! Generous portions of brisket and the sweet potatoes were cut strips and grilled and tender. It had chunks of green peppers which were grilled and you could tell they were fresh. Fresh grilled onions and chunks of tomatoes inside. It was loaded with cheese too. My eggs were done to perfection and I had the sourdough toast. Their sourdough toast is Home made style bread. I don't believe it's baked in the restaurant, but it was very good. Once again, very generous portions. The place is huge inside with plenty of elbow room. As for the price, their prices were average and in line with other places we've eaten breakfast in the area. The whole staff that is there greeted you at one point or the other. Very friendly staff. They are also open for lunch and dinner. The place is busy for breakfast so I'm guessing that they're Friday night fish fries probably pretty packed. I highly recommend Sammy's on the square.
