Pork belly with fried crackling skin and yellow rice and beans
Efrain E.

Food was very good. The pork belly ( lechón con cuerito) melted in your mouth literally. And the skin was hard and crunchy like it's supposed to be. The seasoning on the meat was exact. True Puerto Rican cooking. I ordered some rice and pigeon peas (gandules) with the pork belly, some alcapurrias ( fried plantain fritters stuffed with meat) and a side order of carne frita ( fried cube sliced pieces of pork) with a malta ( non alcoholic Puerto Rican drink made with barley and sugar). Amazing!! The service was fast and staff was very friendly. The place came highly recommended on numerous social media platforms and didn't disappoint. The music in the background was perfect as it added to the overall ambiance. Great local authentic spot that not only caters to locals but welcomes tourists. They have a bar also. Right on the side of the main road right off the highway. Everyone seemed to be having a good time eating, chilling and living the good life. A definite must stop if you are visiting Puerto Rico or just looking for a good authentic Puerto Rican place to eat. Well worth the hype!!

We went there after tubing through the caves. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious! It was authentic food and would go back if we are in that area again.

Excellent chinchorro that serves up good food and strong drinks. They open early and are always busy on the weekends. Not lot of space to sit, but still fun to hang out and drink a little before moving on to the next location. If you come during the weekdays when it is not very busy or are lucky to find a table when it is busy, then you should try the food. Very good and satisfying. Lots of parking along the side of the road and across the street.

Friendly service. We tried the ribs with some beans and rice. Pretty decent. Nice snack at a local spot.

Friendly staff and nice food. You can eat the typical pork stomach soup here! It's right off the highway, can't miss it. Enjoy

When it comes to Puerto Rican food, I truly only know Grandma's cooking. Our close friends mom,…read morewhom we refer to as Grandma cooked some of the best Pernil, arroz con gondules, tostones, and so on. So on our first night in the PR, we definitely wanted some authentic Puerto Rican food and with no recommendations, I resulted to what I know and did some Yelp searching. Not far from us was Toston Jibareño. As soon as we entered, I knew we were in the right place. The place has a decent amount of people inside so I knew it had to be ok. The menu has items I wasn't familiar with, but I went with what I thought I knew. Let me just say everything we ordered was spot on authentic to what I know. The pork chops was out of this world. The mofongo's and tostones brought back memories, the skirt steak was so tender and they did not have arroz con gondules, but instead arroz con habichuelas which are beans and I can't eat beans. It was a great first night. As much as I would love to come back,I have to try different places and different things, but if you are a local and haven't been here or a tourist and want good PR food, this is a great first stop.

We were recommended to come here by an employee at the rum distillery we were at before this (Ron…read moredel Barrilito), and it may have been the alcohol speaking, but it was delicious. My friends and I shared the skirt steak with mofongo, and the mofongo was the best we had our entire trip. We got to try to chicharron too, and it was crispy and flavorful. The steak was tender and juicy. I can't remember much else from the meal, but I would definitely come back, even just for the mofongo alone!

They quickly answered "El Ladrillo", and after eating here, it's obvious why there was no hesitation. The atmosphere was unique, with tons of local art covering the walls, dim lighting, and beautifully set tables. The service was beyond reproach, our server treated us like family, and our food was brought out quickly. Now. The food. We were quickly given a plate of fresh warm bread slices, drizzled with a garlic oil that was TO DIE FOR. We asked him for more and he brought out a bigger plate of them, no questions asked. We could have happily eaten just that bread for dinner. In stead, I ordered the garlic and butter shrimp in a sherry sauce, and a side house salad, while my friend ordered the file mignon. She's from Texas, and knows her steak, so when she said this was by far and wide the best steak she's ever had, I believe her. I've never seen someone melt on the spot like that over steak haha. Our food was nothing short of spectacular. We are absolutely returning to this place in the future.

It's mostly fried and fatty (sorry) but this place was the opposite! My local guy in Puerto Rico told me I would love it since I told him I wasn't a fan of overly fried foods. So he, my client, and I went there and saw it was super cool and right next to Ft Buchanan Army base! This place was packed with locals, cops, blue collar, business folks.. every kind of person was there and everyone seemed to know each other! They had amazing maduros with chicken, carne, veggies, and rice that was so tasty! We ended up going two days in a row for lunch because it was so fantastic and I cant wait to come back here! I was on line with a bunch of people who knew what they came for: good old Puerto Rican cuisine. I went for the pork stuffed with yuca. In was covered in bacon. What a delight!!! I have never tried this and was ecstatic at the combination of flavors. I had two more carbs as side dishes as if that was not enough. Yuca frita fríes and arroz con longaniza. I was in heaven. I was told by saint Peter that this will be served in the heavenly banquet. I was well beyond full from the serving size but not ashamed of the generosity of their service. No longer could I pretend to have an inspired working dinner. I was a clear recipient of the culinary genius behind this creation. Enjoy!!
