If you like IPAs this place is awesome! They had about 8-10 IPAs on tap and a great selection of blondes/ pale ales too. Their flights are a great way to start - for $22 you can get flight (5 pours) of any of their beers! I liked their Beach Bunny with pineapple and decided to get a full pour of that after sampling the flight. The inside is really cute - it's an old hanger building and there was a good amount of seating indoors including a second level. There is also a patio adjacent with more room to move around. You have to order at the bar but the service was quick. They have a food truck up front serving American food and burgers. Didn't try the food truck but you can also bring in your own food. Very cool place to grab a beer and hang out with friends! Parking was all street parking so I can see it being a little harder to park on a weekend if they're busy. read more

I don't know if they're homophobic or just insecure but the way I/we were treated was subclass. The "bartender" (female with arm tats) treated us like we were bothering her, as did the other bartender who couldn't be bothered to answer a simple question. But the best was when I wanted to use the shuffleboard pucks and the female bartender literally looked me up and down as if she was Meryl Streep in Devil Wears Prada. Great space in the industrial area of Glendale with street parking. It looks larger from the outside; the main downstairs area isn't large at all but there's an upstairs deck-like area in this hanger building. We went during the mid-afternoon; it was crowded but thankfully we were able to get a seat for 2. The staff is really friendly, really knowledgeable and gave us some good recommendations for the "tasting" board. There's a pretty good food truck parked right outside the building that's extremely convenient, we had their Korean steak fries, a little expensive but normal for food truck prices these days. WOW, wow, wow! I love everything about this place. As avid fans of Paperback beer, we've been meaning to visit their Glendale location. It did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed. The staff was friendly, and the beer was delicious - I'm a big Hazy fan, and the options are many! The atmosphere is modern but with a vintage flair, and even though its ample space (could accommodate big parties), it felt cozy, relaxed, and laidback. The kinda chill vibe that makes you want to hang out and spend the day sipping and chatting with friends. And don't forget to bring your dog! They're dog friendly (bring your pups inside!) with plenty of spots for your pups to lay down and cool off on a hot summer day. Don't say you are pet friendly if you kick customers out for an accident. My epileptic pug went for a walk to do his business. Apparently wasn't finished when we got back so I quickly took him away and my girlfriend picked up after him. She was sprayed with cleaner and told we weren't welcome. One fine Tuesday evening, we decided to take a stroll into Paperback Brewing and we soon come to realize that we made a great choice by doing that. They have a very robust and selective beer menu. I ended up getting a flight so that I can try a bit of everything and I was pretty satisfied with my choices. My favorite is their Strawberry Shortcake Sour! They also have swap different food trucks which is pretty cool. Their was a Mexican food truck and we were satisfied with our food options. I recommend giving them a shot. Very nice brewery thats just down the street from Glendale Tap, if you're into beer making a trip to visit Paperback brewing and Glendale Tap would make for a very nice night. They might have the most inventive names for beer out there. As random sampler we tried That's a Knife (with crocodile dundee on the lable), Running with Scissors, Czechs who wear leather, Bunny with a Chainsaw. When we went they had a food truck parked outside so you can grab some grub while you drink a coupla of cold ones. You can also bring in your own food if you wish. We went to Cluck and Blaze around the corner for our grub. The beer is good and the service was top notch. Went to Paperback for Father's Day. The brews were great and the atmosphere was eclectic. I am an IPA drinker and they had plenty to choose from. I ended up taking a couple 4 packs home. As I sat in their very thoughtfully designed space drinking their very mediocre beers, I immediately thought of another L.A. microbrewery that shuttered almost two years ago to this writing: Paperback Brewing is, in so many ways, the reincarnation of Iron Triangle Brewing. Like the late Iron Triangle, Paperback is a triumph of style over substance. Housed in a Quonset hut in that industrial sliver of Glendale wedged between San Fernando Road and the Los Angeles River, Paperback Brewing feels just like a microbrewery should ― offbeat but accessible and very hip. It's almost as if it had been designed by a big New York City marketing agency to be the perfect California microbrewery, especially with the witty beer names inspired by 1950s pulp fiction like "Attack of the Space Cats" and "One Night with Nora." The atmosphere is great, and they have a thoroughly developed identity. But in the meantime, they forgot to make good beers. To criticize their American lager as bland and thin is unfair; that's part and parcel of the style. What makes the style work is that it's as bubbly as soda pop ― but Paperback's Backyard Crusher is flatter than Kansas. Their alleged Czech lager is so strongly hopped that it's nearly an IPL. Both of their blonde ales have a harsh, bitter, synthetic aftertaste. And The Surrealist, their Belgian blonde ale, is a parody of the style, with massive overdoses of banana esters and coriander that practically coat the tongue. As someone who has hated bananas his whole life, I only managed one sip of it. Please know that I never want a business to fail, but when a place has so obviously worked hard to create a branding strategy but then half-assed it when it actually came to developing quality products, it kinda really offends me. Paperback Brewery has clever names and cool can art, but their beers are amateur league. I have to say, I'd rank them among the bottom of Los Angeles County brewers right now. Paperback Brewing is a brewery I had been familiar with for a while. "Bunny With A Chainsaw" was my first experience with one of their beers, as I spotted the awesome can at Total Wine I knew I had to try it, especially with a name like that. It was a great beer but with artwork and a name like that, there's no way it wasn't going to be good. So when I finally found out that they had an actual location not too far in Glendale I was definitely hyped to get it from the source. The location is down a quiet street with street parking available. It's got an overall awesome aesthetic inside. Great moody lighting and high top tables are pretty abundant. Theres even a little second floor area that is a bit more laid back.When I went the first time they had football playing on their screens which made enjoying our beers even more enjoyable. It was awesome getting to try a flight of all their different amazingly named beers. They truly have a great selection of all different styles from Dark to IPA's to sours. Really feel like they just know how to make great beer all around. I'd say IPA's are their most stocked on the menu but just know that you definitely have a great selection to choose from. Now the only real critique I have for the place is I wish they'd add a little bit of a food menu to the place. I totally understand why they don't and occasionally they get taco stands or food trucks out front but I know that the few times I have been I was too late to grab food or there wasn't anything outside. Just as a warning if you are stopping in, especially if you were expecting something to eat, there may or may not be something there for you. Super fun brewery with great vibes! First, the interior is really unique with interesting, on-theme decor. The lighting (at least at night when we went) is a a reddish hue, owing to the reflectivity of the ceiling and upper walls, which offers a moody atmosphere. There is also a second floor balcony with additional seating and a living room-esque seating area. As we were leaving, we saw a group enter with balloons and claim that area (presumably) for a party. The massive taproom is a beautiful airplane hangar. And they really paid attention to branding; everything is exquisitely designed. Love love love the library card drawer flights! The service SUUUUUCCKKKS! Employees are rude. The man and woman I spoke to when I went in didn't acknowledge me at all as I stood at the bar just waiting. They were in a conversation about what the girl had done over the weekend. I finally spoke up and asked what they recommend for me and I proceeded to explain the type of beers I like. The man said uhh just pick one and pointed to the monitor with the beer menu. So I asked ok can I try a taste first? He looked at the girl he was talking to and they did a stare down like "who is gonna do it?" She finally walked over to the tap and poured a taster for me and put it on the counter and walked away. I tasted it and I didn't really care for it but I felt intimidated at this point to not ask again to try a different one, so I just said OK I'll take a full glass and then the guy poured it for me put it on the counter, and again walked away so I just took the glass and found a seat and sat down. I found this place a while back when trying to find parking for the bar down the street. Now, it's my new go-to for craft beer in Glendale/Los Feliz area. The inside design is amazing, the beer is awesome and the staff is very friendly and know their stuff. Noel, one of the bartenders is the best! I was more of a lager guy but Noel turned me on to Hazy IPAs and now I'm hooked. My wife and I decided to try some local breweries in our area and found this wonderful place off the beaten path. When we arrived, we nustled up to the bar where a wonderful bartender (I wish I got her name) helped us out, suggesting which beers we should try. We purchased a flight of five beers and headed upstairs. Each selection was in a glass that was pretty substantial and not just a 'shot of beer'. We both decided to go with the following beers (ranked best to worst in our opinion, although there really wasn't a bad one in the group): 1. Go Blue! Bunny With A Chainsaw 2. One Night With Nora 3. The boyfriend keeps saying I need to try Paperback and so we tried Paperback on a fun Friday night with friends. Parking was a little hard to find, but we got lucky as someone was on their way out. It looked like it was full already inside and outside. I thought we'd have to wait for seats, but luckily, they let our group of 5 sit upstairs in their little lounge area and we felt a little like VIP. As the first ones upstairs, I was afraid we might be forgotten, but our servers were friendly and attentive. I tried the Bunny with a Chainsaw, which I really enjoyed and pretty dank (am I using this word right?). Also had One Night with Nora and it was on the lighter side of beers, but still enjoyable. I sent him an email, he confirmed the date and time, and on the day of the event, the second floor of the brewery was ready to go for us. We were allowed to bring our own food and everyone ordered drinks from the bar. What could've been a stressful/complicated endeavor ended up being a very chill experience and a great way to celebrate the hubs w friends. As for the beer, there's a varied selection and they actually taste really good (this comment coming from a person who always prefers wine). The decor and layout are nice, they have food trucks on the weekends I think, and the staff were all very helpful. I discovered this place right after moving back home to LA from Central California. I absolutely LOVE Paperback. The beers are amazing and the ambience and vibe are a hit. It's hard finding a place that manages to balance great beers, great food, and a great conceit (The whole retro library vibe? As a writer, I died when I first walked in.) but these guys managed to hit the nail right on the head. By far, though, the absolute best thing about this place is the staff. Mara, Mika, John, Elyse, and Dominic are all my favorites. Noelle gets a special shout out for always being cordial, professional, and attentive. I've been here on slow days and crazy busy days, and the staff are ALWAYS on it. So don't be mean, cheap jerks when you stop in. Be nice and tip GENEROUSLY!!!
