I went to Papyrus a couple of weeks before (as I had been), but I couldn't find a proper "mom card" then I discovered Paper Source around the corner. When I came in here it was packed. There was an obvious traffic flow problem. Everybody was standing in the middle because the cards are on both sides of the wall. The closer the cards are to the floor the more room we need to stand back. Maybe they don't really sell the cards on the bottom? Paper Source has the most interesting cards while Papyrus has the best looking cards (within my stomping grounds). Style or substance? There's a time and place for everything so I'm fortunate to have each place as an option. I'm not a crafter and I don't care for stationery (although I know someone who does) so you can believe me as an unbiased 3rd party. I usually write my notes on the back of junk mail. read more

I love you paper source! I had been hesitant to go in because they are known for their cards! I also thought the place was small! But I was so wrong they have so many things! And quite big in a sense that the store keeps going down a straight hallway! They have things such as their beautiful cards, planners, notebooks, pens, water bottles, diy projects, etc! They also have great sales up to 50% off during their semi-annual sale! I bought a beautiful clear phone case for $7, bought planner stickers $7, reusable straws for $5, and more. i really love this place and would recommend it to anyone! read more

I went into the store with no idea what I wanted--I was looking for some kind of general idea for my wedding programs, and came out with an incredible DIY plan of attack. The girl who helped me was so knowledgeable and physically showed me how to make eyelets and tie a ribbon to make it look pretty. She was also very patient, since I kept changing my mind a thousand times. And my total ended up being much less expensive than I had anticipated--always a plus! The girl at the cash register was also amazing, gave me background on the store and told me about a bunch of upcoming events. I am making excuses to go back there! I absolutely hate to leave negative reviews, but after how I was treated there on Saturday night, I felt the need to. I walked into the store at 7:53pm fully aware that the store was closing at 8. I intended to come in quickly, grab a gift and be out in 3 minutes. When I walked in, an associate (or manager, I'm unsure) asked me "what are you doing?" I told her I was there for a gift for a friend who highly recommended the store. She said "well, we close in 5 minutes" as she rolled her eyes at me and walked away. I've worked retail for MANY years and I have NEVER treated someone with such disrespect. I'm disgusted with her attitude and felt it was extremely unprofessional. The young lady at the register looked embarrassed and was very accommodating to process my transaction. For the record, I was in and out in 3 minutes (before 8pm closing time). If my friend didn't love the products so much (the one I was buying the gift for), I wouldn't have supported this business at all with the attitude I was served. I recommend the moody associate gets a reality check or chooses a career outside of customer service. She's terrible at it. read more

Paper Source is super cutesy with such random quirky stationery goodies. There's just so much to look at here. I could spend hours just browsing. They have cool workshop available for you to learn to scrapbook or make wedding stuff. They even have papers with craft instructions. It's not just paper, but they have tools to craft almost everything. I love it here but it is a bit expensive. read more

Fantastic selection in a a store that's bigger than it appears from the outside. Lots of tchokes, gifty items and craft sets in the front, but the back has a whole wall of cards and envelopes of different sizes in every color you could want. I found the plain recycled brown paper cards I was seeking, and also picked up a nice initial stamp and some ink to put my first initial on the front of the cards. 20 A4 cards and envelopes plus a 1 1/2" rubber stamp and an ink pad ran about $27. Not exactly cheap, but it's conveniently-located and had what i was looking for. I am sure I'll be back for more stationary in the future. Service was helpful even though the store was packed, but it can get a bit cramped in there. I did up my cards this weekend and they look super nice, very pleased with the final product. read more

Great alternative to the corporate Papyrus down the street. I really enjoyed their wide selection of letterpress greeting cards and other novelty items. The prices are a touch more expensive, but definitely worth more considering how unique the cards can be. Service is a bit peculiar -- I went to pay for my two cards, and the dude at the counter told me rather rudely that a lady across the room was going to help me cash out. O-kaaay. Not sure where the attitude was coming from, but the lady was much nicer than he was. read more

I love Paper Source. They have so many fun and funky little gift items, and their selection of stationery and papers is unreal. From funny birthday cards to #10 envelopes in khaki to handpainted japanese papers with goldfish, they have so much great stuff. Paper Source is rather pricey, but the prices in this store on Walnut are the same online and the same as the Admore store. I often find things I like online then go to the store to purchase them to save on shipping. I find the folks at this store to be very nice, friendly, and helpful. I did a workshop which I thought was very interesting and liked the folks that taught it. Overall, its a fun little store with a great selection, and if you're in need of some paper or stationery, the quality and selection at Paper Source is the best. read more

Went here looking for reasonably priced business stationary after crying over the prices at Papyrus. Paper Source didn't disappoint! The selection of cards and stationary is very good, plus they offer fun, unique gifts and knick-knacks (did I need dessert plates hand painted with macarons--not really, but I bought them anyways!) as well as a huge assortment of scrapbooking and personal-card making paraphernalia. The sales assistants were so helpful in picking out professional stationary while simultaneously recommending scrapbooking classes offered in the back which might interest me. I noticed a wall of absolutely gorgeous wrapping paper but was terrified to ask the price (since it looked fancy) and also I have nothing to wrap in the near future, but its there for those interested. Overall, a great source of nice, high quality paper products and gifts which I will definitely be returning to. read more

I walked past this cute little shop many times because from the name 'Papersource' I wasn't sure if this was a stationery store, greeting card store or what exactly but it's a combo of both. I got a cute birthday card and the sales reps were very helpful, but I didn't feel that they were pushy, which is nice. I also checked out planners, journals and found that they were a bit overpriced. I do think that the greeting cards are fun and a more frugal alternative to the fancy schmancy Papyrus which is too expensive. Wow this place has everything. It is perfect for two people - the crafty person and the gift-giver. If you have a bridal shower to go to? Paper Source. Baby shower? Paper Source! Birthday party for a child or adult? Paper Source. After searching the internet for what seemed like months for the perfect wedding invitation, I decided to stop in Paper Source one day assuming it would be out of my paper budget like some of the other stationary shops in the city. Not only was I wrong, I was blown away by their selection, customization, and customer service! Gaia spent about 2 hours with my fiancé and I going through the whole ordering process and helping us pick out the perfect invites, fonts, liners, envelopes, etc. I was in heaven. Not only that, Meg and Bethany also showed me some DIY tricks to save some money. Everyone was more than helpful and I had such a great experience. Paper Source's cards and paper are really unique, and I have purchased quite a few cool items at the store in the past few months. However, I agree with a few of the other reviewers. Their customer service needs a serious, major overhaul!! Bad customer service. It is disappointing that they haven't figured out the importance of pleasant customer service. I've seen the cashier make rude and sarcastic comments to customers more than once. Just the other day, I saw a staff member ignore a customer who asked a question. There is no reason at all to have such a bad attitude. I am not planning to go back. Guess what, Paper Source? You can find all of your items online, and they are less expensive, too. read more

Heaven on Earth! If you love stationery, cute gifts, and being organized, this is your place! No matter what sort of wrapping or office need you have, it will surely be satisfied here. I recently began a new job, and like many offices, the decor is functional but not necessarily pretty. I stopped in to pick up some cheerful file folders to make all my piles look fancy, and boy did I find some great pieces here! I've since returned for adorable gift bags and boxes, and their greeting card selection can't be beat. I'm a terrible gift wrapper (I must lack that gene), but Paper Source inspires me to be creative, and really makes me interested in a great presentation. However, if you still loathe wrapping, they will do it for you! See, I told you it was heavenly! A silly little adorable bonus? Went to a wedding paper/stationary workshop here. I'm new to the area and this was my first time in the store so I came early to look around. Everything is cute as hell! Love all the options they offer and everyone that worked there was super helpful and nice without being annoying or overbearing. The class was fun and I actually wanted a lot of extra things for my invitations, when walking in I couldn't really care less (haha?). But their selection is awesome and I'm glad I took the workshop! It was the teacher's first time doing a workshop and she was really nice and helpful (wish I remembered her name.) Paper Source is a great addition to Philadelphia's Walnut Street shopping district. A dear friend of mind sent me to Paper Source for assistance with my wedding invitations. Although I ultimately chose an avant-garde invitation instead of an offering from one of the catalogs, I was very pleased with the level and quality of service from Paper Source staff. Particularly impressive was their email follow-up that included pricing information and alternatives. Further, our design did incorporate some beautiful Paper Source papers, and Paper Source's easy return policy permitted me to return unused supplies. read more

I have to start by saying that for the last 6 months or so, I have been the BIGGEST Paper Source fan. I have given rave reviews to all of my girlfriends and family members about their great selection of cards and gifts.... but unfortunately, I have fallen out of love with Paper Source. A little history: One day while purchasing a card, the bubbly sales associate told me about their workshops. As I was recently engaged, she suggested their Mid Summer's Eve Affair workshop and I immediately signed my mom and myself up for the class. We looked forward to it for weeks and planned a fun mother-daughter day around the workshop. The workshop, based around the book "Handmade Weddings" did not disappoint. We learned about invitation layering, envelope lining, how to make little Chinese take out favor boxes, how to emboss.... all while drinking Pellegrino (if I remember correctly) and munching on cookies. It was a perfect girls day out activity. We left our first workshop feeling like it was worth every penny and feeling like we had learned a million things we did not know before. Impressed by the invitation samples on the back wall, and on the instructor's comments on how they could customize the invitation in any way, I headed back to Paper Source a few weeks later to discuss my Save The Date cards with their knowledgeable staff. This was when I encountered my first issue with Paper Source. I was COMPLETELY ignored when I was in the store. It was unlike any other visit I had ever had. I even tracked down an employee to ask for their time in discussing my Save The Dates and wedding invitations and was brushed off. "Saturdays are so busy!" was the response I received. I understand that Saturdays are busier than other days of the week... in EVERY store... but like most of the population, I work Monday - Friday and as much as I would like to, I can't stop in on a Tuesday afternoon to chit chat about my Save The Dates. I left feeling very discouraged and brought my business to Etsy where I purchased beautiful custom Save The Dates... and the user was more than happy to accommodate my Saturday shopping. I didn't give up on Paper Source, though. Obviously the staff that day didn't realize how big of a fan I was. I couldn't be broken that easily! All that changed last week when my mom and I attended our second workshop at Paper Source. It was called Wrapture and promised to teach new tips for adorning packages. The lessons I came away with were: - Use sharp scissors when cutting ribbon - Use double sided tape when wrapping - Tie your bows like you tie your shoes (the term "rabbit ears" was used) I mean, c'mon Paper Source! For $25 person you should be offering more than that at your workshops! After the first workshop, I left feeling like I learned so many great tricks. They taught us how to use the Xyron, embossing heat tool, vellum runner, etc. At Wrapture, I learned that my basic gift wrapping skills were all I would be leaving with that night. I'd have to say the highlight of the workshop was chatting with the friendly male employee, who I assume to be the manager. I'm going to guess that he is the man who was previously referred to as the "bald gay man." I did not find him catty at all. He was very warm and outgoing. I would go to his workshops anytime. I'd like to say that maybe it was just the content of the workshop, or even the unenthusiastic instructor -- despite her comment of "gift wrapping is my FAVORITE craft!" ... which did not reflect in her skill or even attitude throughout the workshop -- that left me feeling so defeated. I'd like to say that I won't give up on Paper Source because of two bad experiences, and that I'll at least afford them their third strike. But unfortunately, I work in customer service, and I value customer service above everything else when I am shopping, and Paper Source has let me down in this area one too many times. Sorry, Paper Source. I am going back to my old love, Papyrus. read more

Paper Source is one of my favorite stores. I love paper products...wrapping paper, stationery, cards etc. and Paper source doesn't disappoint. I come for all of my cards and wrapping needs. I will caution away from their plain colored wrapping paper though...it's pretty much just paper and very hard to wrap gifts with. Other than that, I love coming in and looking around. Many cute chachkes for myself and to buy for others. Huge plus, they carry teaberry gum and violets, which will always remind me of my childhood because my mom loves both. I love the wall of paper, it's beautiful. And service has always been great. My boyfriend recently discovered this store so it was a treat to get some things as gifts instead of just buying them for other people! read more

I went to Paper Source today with the intention of buying supplies in order to bind a hardcover book. The staff went above and beyond to make sure that I had all of the correct supplies and knew exactly what to do. The store attendant, Bethany, even pulled up a Youtube video for me to reference if I forgot anything. The prices were reasonable and the quality of their merchandise is top notch. read more

Went to Paper Source to get envelopes for our DIY wedding invitations. Staff was incredibly helpful! Gaia and JR helped us with color choices and gave us a discount even though we mixed and matched items. Gaia demonstrated ideas to help personalize (and jazz up) our invitations. Overall, the experience was awesome! No pushy selling - only got what we needed PLUS wonderful advice. Can't wait to go back for more wedding needs! To say my fiance and I were extremely disappointed with Paper Source is an understatement. It was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had in my life. If it were only one or two mistakes, I could understand. However, the depth of incompetence was staggering. We visited for the first time about a month ago to look at wedding invitations. My fiance and I sat with a young lady for two hours narrowing down the invitations to two finalists. She provided us with pricing for each so we could show our parents. At this point, we were completely satisfied with the service we had been provided. The ladies in the store were very nice and willing to help. They were enthusiastic and made the experience enjoyable. However, when we returned three weeks later to make our purchase order, things took a turn for the worse. We spent an hour and a half with a different young woman who initially could not even locate our invitation selection, only to end up handwriting the invitation wording ourselves because she was occupied with other tasks. It was at this point another employee came over to inform us that our selection was actually not the price we had been told before, it was $250 more. She apologized for the mistake that both our first and second helpers had overlooked. We then changed our invitation selection and started again. After a second two hour appointment we finally were ready to leave. It was at this point I signed the order forms and offered to pay for the invitations. I was told by our helper that I did not need to pay for the invitations until after the proofs came in and we approved them, so I thanked her for helping us and left. Later that night I received a final price estimate by email. A week later I had still not received proofs for our invitations, so I called Paper Source to ask when we could expect them. They tried to look up our order, then informed me that my order had never been placed. I said that was impossible, and that we had been in the store the previous week and placed our order in person. The receptionist informed me that there was no payment information with my order, and that the order could not be placed until we paid for the invitations. When I told her I had been told no payment was necessary until after the proofs came in, she said that was not how they placed orders, and had never been how they place orders. I asked to speak to a manager who reiterated the same thing. I explained how many mistakes their company had made and they offered me free expedited shipping. A $9 consolation prize. Their store is extremely pricey, but we believed great customer service would outweigh the costs. We could not have been more wrong. Horrible service for over inflated products. read more

I purchased the wall mounted wrapping station on line and just finished putting it up. The product itself was ok with some problems. One corner was slightly damaged (not really noticeable) and one hinge that connects the main wall section to the wrapping 'deck' had been stripped out. There were three (3) screws on the one hinge that all stripped out and were really flimsy. The 'deck' was slightly out of plumb (not square) with the main wall section but it was passable. The installation instructions/method of putting this up is ridiculous. Several points: 1) you need at least two people (3 would be better) to install this, 2) the mounting holes are not spaced 8" or 16" o.c. to line up with any wood studs (the spacing on mine was 9 5/8" and 12 3/8") 3) the unit was in one piece so you had to mount it with the hinged sections attached and 4) the instructions tell you to mount it and then take it off so you can measure for the underside supports (3) which are small angles which screw into the main unit and the wall. You can tell the difference between this product and if it was from Pottery Barn; it would be much more sturdy and well put together. It's been 30 minutes since we put it up and it hasn't fallen off the wall yet so let's hear it for small miracles. read more

I had a pretty good experience purchasing custom design stationery for my sister with her name on it. It was a little pricey, but I got what I wanted. When I picked up my order I was interested in putting a lining into the envelopes, which you can do by yourself. It's really easy and they teach you how to do it on the spot. That was a great service! And they have a wide variety of fun paper there - really beautiful. But in order to do line the envelopes yourself at home, you have to buy an entire set of envelope templates for all of the Paper Source brand envelopes. The set is $15, and I just had the one size envelope. I didn't buy it, rather I made my own template. I guess it's a good way for them to make money, but they would have made even more money off of me if I had been able to buy just the size I needed. Overall, everyone in the store was very nice and helpful, and I walked away satisfied. read more
