This is a pretty neat store with lots of paper crafting materials and gifts. There seems to be something cute and unique in every corner of this store. I came here just a few days before Christmas, so it was pretty crowded and there was a long line. I didn't end up getting anything because of the long line and a lot of the items seemed to be overpriced. Wrapping game is strong af here at PS. Papyrus is closed during COVID, but this place has 3-4X more selection than them, as well as bring a cut above them. This place is NICE when you enter. Upscale place with handcrafted wrapping paper, satin ribbons, and other knick knacks for your gift-wrapping needs, Paper Source does a good job with your gifting mood should you need it. Located in South Coast Plaza mall (bottom floor), you'll find a good assortment of paper for that perfect gift. Maybe I'm hyping this place too much, it's just a place that sells paper after all. They do have a wrapping service but personally I didn't need it, but it's a neat option for those with Flintstone-like hands. Service was pretty helpful in getting what I need. I got wrapping paper with dogs for my girlfriend because it fits perfectly. Quality of the paper is top notch (no rips while making the gifts) and the satin ribbon quality was excellent. I was looking to wrap a large gift but the single sheets were not large enough. I wish I remembered the name of the gal who helped me here, she was so kind and helpful. Came here looking for a festive holiday bubble mailer because the post office was way too crowded; I didn't find it. What I did find was a store unlike any other with the coolest, prettiest, humorous, well organized gifts, cards, books, stationary, etc. I can't explain it other than if you want a cool/unique card or gift for someone, definitely come here. Some of this stuff I've come across as a rare find in the small stationary section of TJ Maxx or Marshalls, but this is a next level gift store. On the back wall are shelves filled with envelopes of EVERY size with stationary to match and it's arranged in The Home Edit fashion: by color on the rainbow. I won't send an invite in the mail without coming here first for consultation. What I bought: RBG book entitled, There's No Truth without Ruth, a hilarious birthday card referencing government politics, tissue paper confetti in red, white and green, a kitschy gift for a new hire at work that let's people know you're busy. Awesome store!! My favorite time to visit is October because they have a bunch of really unique, and some gross Halloween treats = Box of Boogers, Monster Poop, Zombie Jerky and Ouija Board mints. How about an inflatable turkey for Thanksgiving? Paper source is able to pull it off with sophistication without looking like a Spencer's Gifts store. The displays in the window are one-of-a-kind. You won't find a store display like theirs in the mall anywhere. It's great to walk by and get all sorts of ideas, although it would be very hard to duplicate the stuff they have in their display case as the paper items are actually quite huge. I once thought Papyrus had gorgeous stationary, but Paper Source is just a cut above them. Not only is this store about 3-4 times larger than a normal Papyrus, but the selection is just endless. Be prepared to shell out beaucoup bucks for whatever selections tickle your fancy because this stuff ain't cheap. What a cool store! I came here because they are a Happy Returns location. Which btw that is suuuuper convenient for your online returns. Anyway I had a look around at the many treasures. There were so many cute and interesting gifts for others and for yourself. It's much more than beautiful paper products. I purchased a journal and a Nodpod. I need to come back with more time to look at all the games and candies and pens too. It's definitely a place I'll come back to next time I'm shopping for an interesting, fun gift. I had a nice visit to Paper Source earlier in the week. I was loving all the little knick knacks and things. I loved the fun sunglasses, novelty styles and things of course. I had a fun time exploring the toys and books and things with my lil one. She loved the little plastic toy that was a a wind up dancing llama. In here with my lil one's godmother, we had a fun time reading these fun little cocktail napkins. They had some that were perfect for upcoming birthday parties and ones that had us reminiscing about our last girls trip. I could NOT believe my eyes when I saw some of the balloon bouquet prices, $195+ for birthday party balloons and what not. I do hope that these are filled with extra light helium and other gases so that they last an extra long time. I know that I didn't ask if they do but I do hope it's something that is available. It was interesting to see so many asian snacks in there. I found some cord bites that were fun little animals, ginger mints, fun pens and markers, pretty patterned planners, beautifully handmade cards, stunning sheets of wrapping paper, and more. I was not greeted at all but I was understanding of that because when I walked in I over heard a customer trying to return some just purchased products and it taking a few different people to kinda decipher what the not real good English speaking tourist tried to explain their reason for the return. I wasn't upset with that at all. I wasn't fond of the attitude that I felt I got from the sales person but I was already on my way out. I keep a shoebox full of cards at home for birthday emergencies. I am easily amused and was having a good time perusing the Sarah Palin famous quotes keychain, pickle bandaids, books on desserts, neat cards and crafting supplies. How could a crafty person not live this place? Okay, granted, the point is to make things yourself and not have things that are pre-started for you, but, regardless, they have some good stuff! And, really, there's nothing wrong with gawking and other small gifts. When you walk in, there's a bunch of medium sized-tables that veer into the left side of the store. All of those tables have cute ideas of small gifts to give, as well as cute/quick projects to make if you're in a hurry. I think wrapping paper is also on the right-side, but it's mainly craft paper on the left-side. You eventually get to stamps, stationary, pencils, pens, etc. while getting to the back of the room. Clearance section in the back. Wedding ideas towards far back. Cashier area in front right-area. Staff has been pretty cool. Never had an issue with them. It's a pretty clean place, especially with how so many people come through here with their Starbucks, sodas, coffees, etc. Prices are pretty high, though, depending on what you're looking for. There is definitely a premium price, I feel, to shop at this place but, when considering the limited amounts of stores out there like Paper Source, I can understand it. The quality is different, and you likely can't find it like at Joann's or Michael's. Just a different quality. So, yea, I'd probably shop here, but I buy less and less as the prices get higher. I still like to browse and get ideas, but I mostly go for the clearance section. Even then, a stamp set can be $45 after a 50% discount. :/ Still a cutie-patootie store! read more

I was looking for Christmas wrapping paper and had seen one on-line with nutcrackers where the heads were all dogs. An extremely helpful manager there (I feel terrible that I cannot remember her name now), went searching in the stockroom of the store and actually found the paper from last year! She was also very helpful looking for various individual sheets of wrapping paper as well. It is rare to find such helpful people at stores these days. I also LOVE this store. I came here in search of holiday cards (since Crane's at the larger part of SCP closed down) and found myself spending nearly an hour browsing the rest of the store. In addition to a well varied supply of high quality holiday cards, I found general/traditional/non-seasonal cards, over 100 types of stationary (you can custom order them too) and an assortment of paper/handmade gifts. In addition to some awesome looking holiday cards, I picked up some handmade ornaments as well. Check out was prompt and efficient, and the staff were all pretty friendly and helpful. read more

Absolutely adore this store. There is seriously something for every creative side you might have! Some things I love: They have these 'card-making-kits' which are themed (birthday, mothers day, thank you, etc) and come with 4 blank cards (different sizes and colors), 4 blank envelopes (one each matches each card), and different adorable scraps of paper (patterns, solids, all which match the theme of the cards), and 4 different pieces of cardstock that say 'thank you' or whatever the theme is. Sounds confusing, but the card-making-kit has every cute piece of scrap to make 4 adorable and hand-made cards! Everyone I give these cards to, raves about how cute and crafty I am (I don't tell them all it requires is a little glue and creativity). Also love the blank cardstock collection in dozens of patterns and colors, always changing. The gift wrap is soooo pretty and totally worth buying for that gift you just have to dress up! The already made card selection is top notch, adorable, unique, and cute. Super easy to find cards here if you don't have time to make them from the card-making-kit :) Books, I purchased the "What's my pee telling me" book to compliment my other toilet book, "whats your poo telling you." So yes, their book selections remind me sort of like Urban Outfitters. Stationary is also top notch. Their journals and note pads are well made, the paper is thick, and the designs are adorable (just like their gift wrap and cardstock). Photo albums, also available in different sizes and patterns. I have also loved their folders/filing stuff. What's not to love about an adorable way to organize your bills? Anyways, I could seriously spend an hour and thousands of dollars in this store. PS my favorite purchase EVER.... Was wrapping paper that was packaged (not papersource exclusively, I don't think), and it was red and white striped (like christmas) and on the opposite side it was naked men... Ha! So when someone opened their red and white striped giftwrap, there were half naked men in underwear on the opposite side.... AWESOME! What a nice surprise. Always very friendly staff at this location. They also have a great selection of unique cards. However, they are a bit costly so I don't go there as often as I wish I could. My wife had bought something here and needed to return it but since we live up in Long Beach, it was well over the 30 day return time. However, without any questions asked, they gave us a full refund back on our card instead of a gift card as their policy usually dictates. Score! read more

Do not order wedding or custom invitations from Paper Source. We made an appointment and spent almost 3 hours in the store. The first sales rep helping us had to ask the manager every question we had and finally the manager took over for her. We then had to start the entire process over again with the manager telling us the first rep did not know what she was doing. We were very specific that we wanted exactly what we wanted in the sales book, with different colors, and a different paper on the inside of the envelopes. We chose dark blue envelopes and wanted to have return addresses printed on them. We asked to have a white or light grey printed which the manager insisted it would not show up and only black would print on dark blue envelopes and would look great. We of course took her suggestion. We paid and left the store . I received a call the next morning from the manager saying they are not able to print at all on dark blue envelopes unless we paid over $400 to have them engraved. If we knew this the day before, we would have chose a different color and made this very simple. Also, why would you off a color envelope you are not able to print on? We agree to move forward with no printing on envelopes at all to then enter the QA process where we exchange multiple errors including the misspelling of names that are on the credit card we paid with. We then receive an email saying they printed part of our order on the wrong size paper and would take another 8-10 days to have them redone. Well we are on a timeline and cannot wait another 2 weeks. We had our order shipped to the store to only find out what we chose in the book, is not what we got in our order. They are not mounted on anything (as they were in the book) there is no pouch to hold everything in, (as they were in the book) and all of the envelopes do not have a certain paper on the inside. We reached out to customer service via email, we were called and the gal left a voicemail. We called her back the same day and it has been a full business week with no call. Would highly suggest you find another store for invitations with experience and price tag attached. read more

I visited the store yesterday to see if they could gift wrap a few wedding gifts I purchased for a friend. I was immediately greeted by Julie. She was friendly, helpful, and went the extra mile to ensure my needs were met. Julie took it upon herself to suggest a few options (i.e. box and wrapping paper, as well as gift bags with tissue paper). The items I purchased didn't fit in their boxes on display. She had a smile the entire time and was willing to check the back of the store for the right gift wrap without me having to ask. I attended the hand lettering class with Kimi. There were 7 participants which was the perfect size. She provided great information, tips, adequate practice time and allowed us to try different types of pens from her collection. What I appreciated most was her willingness to give each of us specific tips based on her observation of what each student was doing. The last place I ever thought I would get sucked into and I hate myself for spending close to $300 in three visits ... in less than a week. Pathetic. I have to agree with everyone here about the prices. This place is the Tiffany & Co. of stationery shops and that pains me because I hate Tiffany with all my heart. I feel the major nerdiness coming on full blast, but uh ... I think I found my new hobby: Rubber stamping. F*ck!!!! No, but seriously, I came here because I wanted to buy a dear friend (who loves stationery) a birthday present. So then I had the idea to design her a set of notecards and envelopes when the clerk introduced me to my new crack: Embossing stationery. You take a stamp, dab it in ink, then uh, stamp it on a card or whatever and then sprinkle some embossing powder on it and then use a handy device called an embossing machine (basically a little blow dryer) and the heat melts the powder and raises the ink. Like magic! Sigh. I'm going to have to turn in what little cool points I had now. And I have like, 75 notecards that I made (and at least 30 that I botched) and not nearly enough friends to send them to. Curse you, Paper Source. The five stars is for making me feel like a little kid again doing arts & crafts in class. That was always my favorite part of going to elementary school. I feel like this review will be exactly the same as Lisa Marie M's, Summer C's and Tricia E's... but it's all true - Paper Source is the stuff dreams are made of. Well, crafty, knickknack and paper-obsessed dreams anyway. Compared to the Pasadena and Beverly Hills locations, this one at South Coast is my absolute FAVE. I'm a bit etsy obsessed, and I wish I could always buy all of my favorite adorable cards and stationery directly from the artists, but I'm a procrastinator... but I'm in luck too because Papersource carries all of my fave Etsy artists' wares too. Sure, a couple bucks more than they are directly, but that's the price to pay for procrastination. Paper Source definitely makes DIY easy with all of their bajillion pre-cut papers and invite options - it may be a bit pricier than truly cutting all the paper yourself, but their selection is staggering. You know...I just erased a review I did not finish. It had 5 stars but for some reason I did not post it. Maybe I knew deep down that they could not deliver. So my fiancé and I needed in wedding invitations and the only ONLY requirement is that they come fast. We picked the basic card. Then we got our first clue: Wee had the most helpful person helping us and I wish I could remember her name (Im sorry you see this). Our card was so basic she mentioned we should put some color in it we agreed. About 3/4 of the way in... The manager pulled her from our session and replaced with a new girl. I believe to train!!! But why pull the the person in charge of the project. The employee did not want to go but clearly she had little say. This manager, who calls you friend every other sentence, has no clue what she is doing. Then the cards were miss typed three times by there company pushing it out 3 days each time WE received the cards had everything pre stamped and address filled out all we had to do was pick up out order put them in and send them out. THEY WERE THE WRONG CARDS. The color was WRONG..WRONG We spent the weekend buying all new folders, envelops to go with the cards. Guess who I got to speak to at the store..Manager says oh no problem bring them back will send them back and redo them. Told her not going to work. Grade: A- I loved the Wedding Workshop event at Paper Source at SCP! We were introduced to the Xyron and heat embosser for the first time. We used the Xyron on our invitations and signs. I purchased some ribbon, labels, small Stardream envelopes, envelope liner templates, and japanese paper from Paper Source. The double faced satin pink ribbon was overpriced, and I later found similar ribbon at Fabric Barn for much less which would have done the job too. The labels were also very costly. I purchased some small envelopes for our Save the Dates from Paper Source, but there are definitely other vendors out there who sell the envelopes for better prices. I did love the Japanese paper I purchased. Expensive, but so lovely! I used these for our petal cones, and they would have accented our ceremony programs had I had more time for projects. We ended up purchasing the Xyron and heat embosser at Michael's because of coupons that we had. Overall, Paper Source is a great resource for all paper-related items, but they are just over-priced. If you have more time, then I suggest shopping around for the same products, but if you need the items in a hurry, Paper Source would be a great place. They also have fantastic workshops with some great ideas! Even their pamphlets are awesome, as you can sift through them for styles and designs. read more

With only 50 guests for my wedding, I could see myself splurging on parts of the invitation supplied by Paper Source, but for basics, I'd probably go to more commercial type store. I seriously got sucker punched by this place. Fiance and I were at South Coast one day, wandering around aimlessly. We passed by Paper Source and the colors caught the corner of my eye. "Hey, lemme go in here real quick," I said. "I might be able to find some stuff for the wedding." Three hours later, we walked out holding a receipt for Crane invitations. What the heck?! I thought we were going to MAKE our invitations! But the staff and selection at Paper Source were just too good to pass up. Tita and Brenda helped us for over two and a hours, making sure we got what we really needed. In fact, I think we closed out the place. Since then, I've gone back multiple times to buy wedding stuff and just browse around. Sometimes I'll go there and just walk around, letting my mind wander...which led to a few "hmm this might be cool!" moments. The staff are more than willing to help with an idea or color scheme, and I never feel dumb asking them questions about which hole punch is better for a 1/4" inch ribbon to be threaded through. My only gripe is that their prices can kick you in the gut...although they have a discount if you buy more than 10 of something. Paper Source is my all time favorite store....This chain originates in Chicago, which is where I first stumbled across them 5 years ago when I was search of place to do my own wedding invitations. I learned that I couldn't afford to have the Paper Source do them, but I did learn I could buy all the supplies there and do them myself...thus the birth of my obsession with Paper Source. I can't tell you how elated I was to learn of an OC location (previously had to drive to Pasadena or Beverly Hills or order online (which everything in the store is not online)). They have a great selection of gorgeous imported papers from all over the world. They also manufacture their own paper, card stock, envelopes (in all shapes and sizes) and cards, great for corresponding the old fashioned way, on paper, or for creating invitations for any event. Their supply of creative ideas on what do with paper seems endless...from paper flowers and butterflies, to wedding favors. This location is huge and also has all the do dads you need to embellish your paper creations! From stamps, punches, ribbons, dried flowers, and all the assembly supplies...I could wander in here for hours. They also carry beautiful photo albums, stationary, card kits for major occasions such as Christmas, Hanukkah, Mother's Day, etc. The prices are a touch high, but the selection and quality is excellent.
