This review is for the totality of the experience…read more I made an advance reservation at Alma Scottsdale for a mid-sized group of 7 to celebrate a special occasion. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.

We were lucky enough that it happened to be restaurant week (1 appetizer, 1 entree, & 1 dessert for the price of $55!) I decided to get their infamous original chopped salad, fair trade short ribs, & blueberry pudding cake. My partner opted for the burrata paired with their noble bread, crispy salmon, & midnight brownie. Our favorites were their burrata & crispy salmon, with our not so favorites being the rest. The chopped salad was mediocre at best, nothing worth coming back for. The short ribs were overcooked, making it extremely dry. The blueberry pudding cake was incredibly dense and dry. The brownie was as hard as a rock, making it difficult to pick up a piece without breaking the plate while at it. Overall, my partner and I were quite disappointed with our meals. The only silver lining was that our server, Nicholas, was phenomenal!

The cafe had a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that immediately made me feel comfortable. The smell of freshly cooked food and coffee filled the room, creating the perfect start to the morning. When the breakfast burrito arrived, I was surprised by how large and well prepared it looked. It was packed with fluffy eggs, crispy potatoes, melted cheese, and flavorful meat, all wrapped inside a warm tortilla. Every bite tasted fresh and perfectly seasoned. The ingredients blended together really well, and the burrito had just the right balance of textures and flavors without feeling too heavy. What I enjoyed most was the homemade feel of the meal. It did not taste rushed or overly processed like fast food breakfast burritos. The salsa served on the side added a nice kick and made the dish even better. Paired with a hot cup of coffee, the breakfast felt comforting and filling in the best possible way. The service at The Peppersauce Cafe also made the visit memorable. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made the entire experience relaxed and enjoyable. Even though the cafe was busy, the food arrived quickly and everything tasted freshly prepared. Overall, eating a breakfast burrito at The Peppersauce Cafe was a great experience. The combination of generous portions, fresh ingredients, and welcoming atmosphere made it a place I would gladly visit again. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a hearty and delicious breakfast. Gus Woltmann

Where Hospitality Has a Name -- and That Name is Nigel In a…read moreworld of automated greetings and absent managers, INDIBAR feels like a different era -- where a restaurant is not merely a transaction but a relationship. Owner Nigel Lobo moves through the dining room not like someone inspecting his domain, but like a gracious host welcoming friends into his home. But here is where he enters the realm of the legendary: he remembers. A month ago, a dessert was unavailable. Nigel came to our table personally, apologized, offered two complimentary desserts, and promised chai biskoot on the house next visit. Most people forget. Not Nigel. On April 17th he kept his word without being reminded. And when we mentioned mid-meal that we had forgotten to order panipuri -- not even complaining -- he smiled and sent out two plates on the house. The food is magnificent -- elevated, soulful Indian cuisine that is both traditional and modern. But what INDIBAR truly serves is the increasingly rare dish of being made to feel seen. Five stars feels insufficient.

We kept the decision fatigue out by picking Chef's special 4 course meal and loved every dish served. I do not eat sea food so the one's who eat may love it. Other than that everything served was with grace, details and flavor. Will be back soon. Expect $$$ for 2 ppl, food quality is worth trying and sharing. Next time I would try a la carte than thali want to try more dishes. Ambiance was quiet, clean, spacious and high end. Liked the service overall.

The hostess was very friendly and led us back to the community table near the bar. Our server/bartender was busy at the bar and taking orders. No smile, a no- nonsense personality which is fine, just not friendly at all. My husband and friend decided to do beer flights. They enjoyed except for one of the beers they said had no flavor. I opted for a Tito's dirty martini which is my favorite drink. They enjoyed the beer flights but unfortunately when my martini was delivered, I swore the glass hadn't been properly washed as it had a sweet, coffee taste. I let our server know and she immediately took it and said she would make another which was great. I did see her grab a new glass. Unfortunately the new martini tasted exactly the same. Almost like a terrible espresso martini with olive juice. It was not drinkable. Either she didn't know how to make a dirty martini or the olive juice or vermouth went bad. I couldn't stomach the drink and felt nauseous so left it. We ordered a Chef's Board. Cheese selections, plus pepperoni, salami, prosciutto, mixed nuts & fruits, olives and fig jam. They missed the nuts, fruit and olives. The meat and cheese were good but it was a basic board. We should have ordered the pizza instead as everyone around us had a pizza and it smelled delicious. Our first visit was not the best experience, however, we may give it another try and check out the pizza instead.
