Went to do my Halloween tradition of getting the pumpkin shaped pizza! Only thing is partner and I are vegetarian so we can't get the pepperoni version, which has never been a problem before. Employees were oddly rude that we wanted the pizza just without the pepperoni. They claimed it was "premade with pepperoni" which would've been fine if I wasn't watching them make several of the jackolantern pizzas RIGHT next to me as they said that... Really weird. Employees were just over all rude even when we just decided to get a plain pizza anyways. Definitely not coming back any more. Store small and crowded but it is not meant to be an eat in area so that was fine. read more

We didn't know to think because we had never seen a pizza joint like this, and we didn't think it would make much of a difference being made fresh for us to take home and bake. But we wanted to try and experiment and we got Mediterranean pizza, the cowboy, and Papa's favorite. We tried all thin and crispy, except for the cowboy. We were so surprised at how delicious these pizzas came out at home. We definitely recommend getting the thin & crispy pizza because it seems like you can taste all the ingredients better than the pan pizza. Our very favorite was the Papa's favorite followed by the Mediterranean. We will definitely be going back. We got three family sized pizzas for seven people, and it was more than enough, we can only finish one and a half. read more

Apparently they don't like you to just walk in and order. They prefer you use the app. Well, mistakes number one for me I guess. Dude was not real nice and was in no hurry to make the pizza. Pizza is good, the crust is tasty and they pile on the ingrediehts. This was my first time ordering and I wasn't prepared, the dough is raw and there was no cardboard undernath, just flimsy paper. DoorDash left them on my porch, no bag, just two floppy pizzas in plastic wrap. The other issue is I ordered 12-in but they gave me 16-inch. I didn't have a working stove and was going to cook them in a toaster oven that only has room for 12-inch. In addition, they included ingrediehts I did not request. I used a pizza cutter to trim down the pizzas but it just became a gooey mess, with the dough bunching up and creasing and ingredients falling off. I managed to bake four individual slices, and had to throw the rest away. The pizza was good, the smell of the baking crust, nice. I totally will order again, but next time I will go in person so I can quality check and get more guidance on how to handle the dough. read more

The Papa Murphy's app showed a $1.00, one topping medium pizza. My husband and I walked in and asked about the deal. It was my husband's birthday, and we thought we would pick up a pizza to celebrate. The employee at the cash register was professional and polite. He informed us that the deal might have expired. I asked a follow up question because the app said, "No expiration date." Jim, the manager, overheard and came out from the back of store. He immediately took a defensive tone and instead of answering my question, rudely told me several times to "Read the details." I read out loud, feeling like a child in trouble, and he stopped me when I got to "Valid in small number of select markets." He belted out "SEE!" The employee looked embarrassed, I was humiliated and my husband was shocked. This is the only store in a 50-mile radius of us. Jim told me to go to other stores in the future. [Up to 90 miles away]. Before we left, I told Jim that I had never seen such unprompted aggression escalate so quickly. I've been in the store many times and was surprised at the negative and aggressive interaction with a manager. What kind of example is Jim setting for his employees? Chris is the best employee ever. My boyfriend picked up our order and didn't realize there was a mix up with one of the pizzas until we got it home. I couldn't eat the wrong pizza due to a pork allergy, so I called the store to see if there was any way they could deliver without us having to drive all the way back over. Chris told us they didn't have any delivery drivers available, but he was about to be done with his shift and he personally drove our pizza to us to make up for the mistake. Went there the day before Christmas Eve to order pizza for the next day. They never answered the phone and I can't get the order I want put in online so I had to walk in. The man in charge told me to order online or I would have to wait HALF AN HOUR BEFORE HE WOULD EVEN TAKE MY ORDER!! No one else was in line and there were three other people working there, two in the back and him with another in the front. I told him it couldn't order online and he said "Sorry, I'm doing the best I can" I've been in there several times and each time I'm met with indifference, snubbed, & rudeness. This was probably our 20th visit to Papa Murphys and they always deliver (not literally of course lol). We are always pleasantly surprised by the pizza we order and the freshness of the ingredients. We personally also like cooking the pizza at home so we can eat it piping hot every time. My wife hates greasy pizza and we can always count on Papa Murphys to provide a delicious, not too greasy pizza. The service when ordering and picking up is always excellent as well. I came to this location as it was the closest place that had pizza. I noticed the had an extra large for $9 so I decided on that. I wasn't paying attention when I ordered. I didn't realize they don't cook the pizza for you. There aren't any ovens. They make the pizza and give you instructions on how to bake it. I'm always willing to try a place once. I, my family, friends and co-workers have not returned and I see from reviews number of dissatisfied customer continues to grow. Old man, I'm assuming he was the store manager, was super rude. I ordered a create your own pizza without cheese, as i am allergic, and i drove 25 minutes to pick up pizza only for cheese to be placed on the pizza. I understand a simple mistake and asked him nicely if he could remake it and he told me it was my fault that i "didn't deselect the cheese on the order". I showed him my email copy of the receipt where it clearly lists all the ingredients and no sign of cheese was labeled on the order as i DID deselect the option for cheese as he told me. After showing him he continues to tell me it was my fault that i ordered it wrong to hide the fact that he is incompetent of reading an order correctly and refuses to remake the pizza. I then proceeded to stand there as he ignores me and continues to make other pizzas and told me he would "pick off the cheese for me" rather than take 2 minutes to rebuild the pizza. I have never had a poor interaction with this company but after todays visit i will not be returning. read more

We have been faithful patrons of Papa Murphy's for years. Love their business model and yummy pizza! We are so sad that this location is the only one left in San Antonio. Even more tragic was the customer service we experienced over the phone today when trying to place an order. With my first phone call, I was exasperatedly asked if I could place my order online instead. When I tried to do that, the online system kept sending me in a loop. So I called back to place my order via phone. The same person answered, I explained my issue and they said yeah ok and then pulled the phone away from their face and hollered at someone else and laughed and joked back and forth in the restaurant for a moment before coming back on the phone to take my order. As I interacted with them on the phone, this person seemed more and more irritated as I continued the order, which was 2 family size pizzas using their traditional recipes with 1 or 2 modifications, so nothing complicated. Just didn't seem like they wanted our business today at all, so we just canceled the order, and sadly probably won't return until they fix their customer service. read more

Excellent bake at home pizza. We ordered a family size cowboy w jalapeños and it was topped w plenty of meat, cheese, and veggies. We followed the baking instructions and it did bake completely on the cardboard, but I would have preferred a browner, crispier crust; if we'd have left it longer, it would have burned it on top. Next time, I'll partially bake, like 10 min, and then try to slide the cardboard out so the crust is directly on the rack for a crispy effect. Flavor wise, it's delicious. read more

Ok, so I had heard of Papa Murphy's for years but never been. I figured "oh it's probably typical carry out, but I have to bake it myself" man was I wrong, it has quality ingredients done right at a great price. After my first visit I got in here to get it added, I went during the locations grand opening, so they had great deals and coupon packs, as well as samples. Generally we always get a $5 fave cheese pizza, because the kids love it, and try various others. The stuffed pizzas are awesome, and not overly heavy, or greasy. Nothing like typical Chicago style deep dish, which though delicious, can be a bit heavy. Murphy's stuffed is big, tasty, but at the same time doesn't make you feel overly stuffed, or sick after, unless you eat to much I suppose. On my first visit with a sample I tried a pepperoni and their spicy fennel sausage slice, wow the spicy fennel sausage is outstanding, great flavor, and a perfect spice level. We have also had the cheese bread, which the kids love, and the Mediterranean salad is great as well. We have had a s'mores dessert pizza, as well as some cookie dough, which are great. I recommend signing up for their text club, they send weekly messages with special deals and coupons, such as a spinner for freebies and so on. So don't make the mistake I did and wait, try Papa Murphy's now, quality ingredients done to order, to give you a delicious pizza, not greasy, just perfectly done. For future kids birthdays at home I will probably pick up a stack of the $5 faves, cheese, pepperoni, and sausage and provide fresh baked quality pizza instead of "hot and ready" or delivery for twice the price. One other interesting thing, their thin crust is thin, which is great, but the edge is also thin, I have folded it over to get it slightly thicker, but once due to errands, it took about an hour or so to bake it, and the edge crust had time to rise slightly for the perfect thickness.
