Review 317, numerical symbol of St. Patty's Day, just about as far away on the calendar as I can get. I suppose Seamus McDaniel's or John D. McGuire's would have been good choices. But, no, after a few hours in the CWE, and in a rainy day mood, it was easier to drive back to E'ville for pizza, a far cry from Irish food. I traveled not to Papa Antonio's or Papa Giovanni's, but to Papa MURPHY'S. How DOES a pizza place get an Irish name? I didn't think I'd like it. The concept sounds a little bit like a Seinfeld sketch: Kramer's idea for a pizzeria in which each customer bakes his or her own pie. Except, in this case, the profit margin is even higher, since the pizzeria has no investment in a pizza oven, and no utility bill for heating it. But ... the young staff was friendly, eager to suggest items from the menu, and advice for baking the pie right. Then, when the "Cowboy" came out of my home oven, it was good, especially the sausage, certainly better than a frozen pizza. Though the calorie count was probably high, the toppings were founded on a "de-LITE thin crust," and accompanied by the veggie bulk of a Club Salad with low-cal Italian dressing. So it probably was healthier than some other items that I might have chosen. Not quite a four-leaf clover dinner. Still, Papa Murphy's was a lucky choice for me today. read more

Disappointing and Unexpected Changes I visited the Edwardsville, IL Papa Murphy's to pick up my usual 10/12 dollar Tuesday pizza. It was 10:35 a.m. This is normally a straightforward visit that I have done for years. Today was different. After my prospective pizza was rung up, the lady preparing the pizzas announced to me "There are five pizzas ahead of you; you'll have to wait." This was a first but I normally do not mind waiting for a quality product, but I would still have liked to have known ahead of time where I was in the pizza assembly line. As I stood and watched a pizza being prepared, I saw for the first time a pizza crust being taken out of its cellophane already prepped with tomato paste and cheese. The cheese did not look fresh at all and I was not sure if the tomato paste had soaked into the crust or not. Unfortunately, none of what I saw looked appealing and I asked to cancel my order and receive a refund. Both of which were successful. From Edwardsville I drove 17 miles to the Papa Murphy's location in O'Fallon, IL. Perhaps I wasted time and gas but I was able to get a totally freshly made pizza there. Brian B. read more

Can we be serious for a moment? The Greek pizza this place whips up is the bomb.com. I've never had a pizza that wasn't homemade taste so good. I love the fact that I can watch them put it together, and I also love that I can ask for more feta if I want it, (and who doesn't?!) Kudo's to Papa Murphy's for preparing my delicious din-din to cook at my convenience. read more

We love this place, but we only order when they're having specials. One of our favorite parts of Papa Murphy's is that they will leave the cheese off of part of a pizza for our dairy free son, and our son still feels like he's eating what everyone else is having. Plus, it's delicious! We just tried the New York pizza the other day, and it might be our new favorite. read more

Be advised that if you order a Chicago Style/stuffed crust that it will take awhile (40 minutes) and can't be baked concurrently with a regular style pizza - unless you have 2 ovens! Wish this was on the menu or I had been told by the workers when ordering! read more

Haven't been to all of the pizza places in Edwardsville yet, but Papa Murphy's is making it tougher for me to want to go there! I know, I know, I can hear the pizza purists scoffing at me- "how can you possibly say a CHAIN pizza joint is even in the same league as some of the other pizza options around here?!" Well, believe you me, I'm all about getting out and trying the hole-in-the-wall places, but PM is awesome. I've had the Chicken Tuscan Pizza, Mediterranean, and Hawaiian, and they're all fantastic. Can't say enough about the flavor, consistency, and great prices from these pizzas. Granted, you do have to make the pizzas at home, but that's no trouble at all with these pies served up fresh! The service is off-the-charts as well- super friendly and helpful. Go there, you won't regret it! read more

Love Love Love Papa Murphy's Pizza!! This place rocks and its always clean and fast. When its pizza night there is nothing better than fresh out of your own over without it being your standard frozen pizza. The crust for Papa Murphy's is really good and tastes great as well as the price is really good for fresh pizza. I think the only thing better is if you make your own pizza at home but its nice if you dont have the time its awesome. read more

I've had Papa Murphy's many times in Washington State, and yes, the idea is unusual considering that it is made at the shop and the you take it home and bake it. The difference between a Papa Murphy's and a frozen pizza is the fresh ingredients, you're not stuck with one size, and you can choose what ingredients to take out of your particular pizza (like onions or green peppers) (pepperoni and cheese frozen pizzas get old pretty quick). That was not the main reason why I wrote this review, otherwise I would yelp about how great the pizzas are to corporate. This location in Edwardsville not only makes great tasting pizzas, but I wanted to say the service is exceptional. I enjoyed the S'mores pizza that I had two weeks ago along with the Chicago Stuffed Pizza (it is supposedly 5 pounds worth of pizza)...it took me a few days to eat it (I am one person), but it was worth it. The staff tell you how to cook your pizza (the written instructions come with your pizza). I will be coming up again tomorrow to buy one for a neighbor. They said they usually eat frozen pizzas. I hope this changes their mind between fresh vs. frozen! read more

My first visit to a Papa Murphy's and all went well until I tried to use a 25% off discount coupon from RetailMeNot.com to pay for my order. I was informed that they do not honor coupons from this site. Really! This site has a full page of coupons for Papa Murphy's. Someone from their Corporate headquarters must had to OK these discounts. The workers were friendly enough and the fact that I was already there I went ahead and paid for my order, took it home and cooked it per instructions. The pizza was very good. However I went there because of the discount coupon offerings. Unfortunately this could have been a 5 star experience but once burnt I most likely will never go back. read more

Very good food with nice customer service but I have to say that I was disappointed by the undercooked nature of the pizzas I received. Also, the boxes themselves seemed cold, lacking warmth and it seemed apparent that out pizzas had sat for a length of time. I warmed them up in my microwave a slice at a time which was slightly inconvenient but in all, I'd eat here again. read more

We love Chicago style pizza and Papa Murphy's has it! All of the varieties of pizza we have tried from stuffed pizza to the thin crust veggie "delite" exceeded our expectations. The staff is always super friendly, the store is very clean, and they use generous portions of fresh, high quality veggies and ingredients. The prices are a little bit higher, but in my opinion, "you get what you pay for." You could choose the precooked carry out $5 1 topping from the competitor but the freshness, quality, and flavor aren't even comparable!
