Was so excited to learn Pantera's was still open. I use to go to the Fairview Heights location. I was very disappointed in the service and even more disappointed in the pizza. The pizza was ready in about ten minutes. I knew when the pizza was brought out so soon, it wasn't gonna be what I remembered. The pizza was lukewarm at best. Had an impromptu lunch with family at the Pantera's in Edwardsville. Always loved Pantera's as it was my favorite pizza place as a teen. The pizza was just as good as I remember. Reasonable priced and they offer a small but satisfying salad bar. All 4 of us ate - salad bar, pizza and wings for $50 and left with leftovers. Stellar 90's throwback buffet style pizza. The buffet is $10 a person, $13 if you add a drink. Theres a salad bar, pizza bar & of course breadsticks and desserts (dessert pizza, cinnamon sugar breadsticks). Every time I've been they keep the hot, fresh pizzas coming! I'll try to make this short and sweet.The pizza is excellent. The do offer different crust choices. I believe that 2.00 per item on a pizza is excessive. Leftovers are good hot or cold. I don't know if it was the hour 6:30-7:00 or the weather, but the place was kinda dead for a college town. There is a abundance of seating, cafeteria style. They do have a buffet and salad bar. The wait staff (Isn't). You would think that with so few patrons available they would be very present. Is it just me or are restaurants charging exorbitant prices for flavored sugar water, soda. Pizza used to be the go to to feed the family without breaking the bank. I guess my age is showing. I live too far for a pickup order. This week we traveled to Edwardsville, Illinois for Pantera's Pizza Buffet. I grew up eating Pantera's in the 80's and it was "Thee" place to eat and hang out in the Metro East. There were over 100 locations in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area at one time. My favorite pizza was "The Hunk". You can still order it at the Edwardsville location (one of maybe three locations left). We enjoyed the salad bar, the different pizzas, garlic bread, and dessert pizza they had on the buffet. Customer Service was great! They kept up with the demand and the pizza kept coming out hot, tasty, and fresh. They were constantly cleaning tables and picking up dirty plates. I still love Pantera in Edwardsville! When we lived there and my daughter was small, we used to walk over and have pizza buffet on hot summer days when I didn't feel like cooking. Good news! Twenty years later and they still have delicious salad bar and pizza at a good value. Panteras pizza has a unique taste and crust that I just love. The crust is kind of a mix between a hand tossed and a pretzel crust. It was a bit salty, as we ordered the Big Hunk that has many types of meat along with olives and other salty toppings, but their salad bar is crisp, fresh and yummy, which offsets the sodium. The interior of the business could use a makeover and new carpet, but really nothing is too much to ever keep me from coming in. read more

Pantera's pizza is the best in town!! Totally the best crust! The whole family agrees and asks for Pantera's for pizza night every time.

Well I read some other reviews stating Panera's reminder them of Godfather's Pizza. So I thought I would give them a try. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The price was high but thought if they loaded on the ingredients it would be worth it. Unfortunately that really wasn't the case. Both the cheese, and sausage were lighter than Godfather's. But more than most pizza places do so that was a good thing. At least it wasn't one piece of sausage per slice! Maybe it was an off night. It was ok but not sure I would go back. Had the buffet today. It was not hot. It was not fresh. Have been to Pantera's many times and today was a disappointment.

I've been hearing about panteras on KSHE radio station for 2 years. Was excited to finally be close enough to the place to go check it out. What a huge disappointment! I wouldn't go back and eat if they offered it to me for free!!! I tried the buffet and out of 4 different types of pieces of pizza I didn't finish more than a bite of any. Sauce is the absolute worst - like straight acidic tomato paste. There was spaghetti noodles available but again the same nasty sauce available. Dried up pizza with nasty sauce pretty much sums it up. Cost 2 of us close to $21 and we left just as hungry as we arrived. read more

I remember eating at this place years and years ago in my hometown. That place has long been closed for many years and have been wanting to try this place for quite some time. I looked up the menu on the Internet and saw that there was a salad, pizza and pasta buffet from 5-8 pm mid week. We made plans and stopped in. The pizza was as good as I remember. I like the way the crust is a little "toothy" or sort of al dente, which is unique to the other types of pizzas I've had. I am really a thin crust fan, but usually if you get anything but thin crust, the crust is typically dry and bread like, but not here. The place could use a little bit of a remodel perhaps, but the food was hot and fresh and the salad bar, Although it's pretty basic, had some decent choices. I was disappointed about the pasta, because when we visited the restaurant was fairly empty and it was before typical dinner time (about 5:30 PM because it got quite a bit more foot traffic as we were finishing up). There was only about enough spaghetti noodles to cover about a half of a Small plate. I never did see them bring any more out while I was there, so I'm not sure what that was about. I would like to have rated four stars, but It just didn't earn it. read more

Been coming since the 80s. The numerous birthday parties and hours spent playing games here have always been memorable and the pizza keeps me coming back. Every time we are in town I must have it. It's not your typical St. Louis style at all. Thicker crust that is denser like a French bread. Rich sauce that has a nice balance of oregano and garlic and not sweet. Crispy pepperonis and the cheese seems like a whole milk mozzarella. Ordered out a large half baked pizza for travel. The customer service was horrible. After standing at the front counter for several minutes, two young (workers) didn't bother to ask how I could be helped. One of the one ladies finally said I'll be right with you once she returned from the dining area. While the other immediately took another customer that walked in order. I looked over at her in total disappointment to acknowledge she never opened her mouth to help me. Once the young lady returned from the dining area, I asked...is this truly your customer service? She put her head down and begin to say we are a bit stressed because we had something go wrong with our beer machine. Again had nothing to do with the horrible customer service that I received. I handed her my card for payment and she returned it by sliding it on the counter back to me for my signature. He spent his summers in your dining room as a kid. His mother worked as a bookkeeper for Jeff. His parents were also very close friends with Tommie. So this place is more than a pizza restaurant. It's a building full of memories and tonight, you added to that list of them! My husband Ryan and I have not been out in over a year to eat in a dining room together due to CoVID. Sure we have supported locally owned businesses and done our part to stay safe but this was our first Friday night date night back out. As always the food was great. Pizza was exactly as ordered with minimal wait time. Draft beer was cold and fresh. The staff was kind and had a sense of urgency. The staff also made sure to continue to check up on their customers and my husband and I sat and enjoyed our food, talked St.Louis Cardinals baseball, where he use to sit when he came in and of course...what were his favorite games to play in the game room After one of the longest years we have gone through..........this night was simple and fun. Admittedly, the last time I enjoyed a Panterra's pizza was in 1982. I was excited to once again experience what I remembered as an outstanding experience. My to-go order was for a large pizza with sausage, pepperoni and mushrooms. When I got home, I was disappointed with the sparce amount of toppings. There was a few pieces of sausage, one or two cut-up pepperoni pieces and a few mushrooms. It was basically a cheese pizza. Tasty but not what I paid over $32 for. We love the pizza, but the service was horrible today. People taking orders need to know how to enter orders in the system before they are tasked with the job. We ordered the daily double large single topping pizzas. Everything seemed fine, we were charged $34.98 (the correct price for 2 lg 1 top pizzas). After we sat down, the girl who checked us out came to our table and said she charged us wrong and returned $15. I told her that we ordered 2lg pizzas and she kind of shrugged and said she didn't know. When our pizza came out, we only got one. A different girl brought the pizza out, she said, you're supposed to have 2 aren't you? I told her yes and explained ehat the person who checked us out said. I told her we needed the 2nd one and she could have the money back. She said that was okay, she would get the 2nd pizza going. We waited 25 more minutes before I went to check on the 2nd pizza. The girl at the counter said they had put it in and she would check on it. So I went back to our seat and waited another 10 minutes before the girl who took our order came to our table and said that they didn't put in our 2nd pizza because the system only entered the one pizza. After waiting that long we weren't going to wait longer for them to finally get our order right, so we left. We will think twice before we eat here again. If we do, we'll make sure the person taking the order knows how to do so accurately. read more

This was our first trip to Pantera's and we had the buffet. The pizza was good, but not great. When we first arrived, the pizza was noticeably NOT fresh. Once new pizza's came out, the quality improved greatly. The salad bar was quite good. In addition to the salad staples, there was fruit, potato salad, etc. I loved that the music matched the theme of the name. Most of the selection was metal music. The music isn't pretty quiet, so even if you hate metal, you should be fine. The biggest drawback to this place was the arcade. Most of the parents just let their kids run wild because of it. If you don't like out-of-control children, eat elsewhere. Overall, Pantera's is a solid choice. My wife, our 7-year old and I ate for just over $23. Pantera's is the real deal!! We've lived in the area for nearly a year and have driven by a number of times. It always seemed to be busy and we've heard good things about it. Well, tonight was the night! My wife and three of our kids piled into the car for the trip. We got here and were served promptly, as my awesome brother and sister in law had already called in our order. The pizza was excellent- very tasty, buttery, with the perfect amount of crunch and chewiness! The atmosphere was also fantastic- had a retro feel to it and took me back to my younger days going to Godfather's Pizza. I wish there were more pizza places like this!! read more

I have fond memories of Pantara's Pizza growing up, but I have been a stranger for many many years until this past week when I met some of my family there for a quick dinner. First off let me say that this is a casual, no frills pizza place. It is not going to win an awards for its decor and odds are it hasn't really changed much since I last had visited, aside from what appears to be an expansion. When we arrived on a Monday evening we noticed that they had a pizza buffet, which was totally unexpected. I inquired how much and it was a fairly reasonable price, under $8 with a drink. The pizza was pretty good, way better than CiCi's and their low quality buffet pizza. The selection was pretty good, they had your staples like sausage and pepperoni, but what really caught my attention was the ham pizza, that was the highlight. There were several desert pizzas, like cherry, apple, and even a cinnamon bread. Overall Pantera's offers good pizza at a reasonable price. read more

I just had the "Hunk" for the first time in years. 5 lbs. of pizza goodness. Since we had a coupon, it came to $20 instead of the usual $24. That may seem a little high, but it will feed several adults. 3 of us didn't even eat half of it. Lots of toppings (maybe a little heavy on the black olives), lots of cheese, etc. Crust was a little soft (not quite soggy) - could be due to the excessive amounts of toppings and sauce soaking in. I can only review the pizza by delivery. Pantera's pizza leaves much to be desired. We ordered a large, pepperoni, onion, hamburger pizza on original crust. While the toppings were fine, the crust was awful. It was not fresh and lacked flavor. I think Papa Johns would have delivered better pizza. If ordering delivery, keep in mind that they will not accept credit card information over the phone, so you must pay cash or check. The delivery was quick, but it arrived just warm, not hot. The pizza here is distinctive and awesome. The crust options are good (try the "New York Style" for a greasier, tastier option), the toppings are good, and the sauce is spicy. I literally ate the stuff since I was in the womb, and my love for it will never die. Some of my friends from Chicago and New York are very finicky about pizza and will complain about pretty much anything that isn't made in their hometown. Once they try Pantera's, it's always an exception. The worst thing I've ever heard said about it is, "This isn't [my hometown style], but it's still damned good pizza." The buffet started sometime when I was a teenager, and it's madness. That's inevitably going to happen because there's so much good pizza available for such a low price, and it can only be cooked so quickly. Pantera's is essentially an Edwardsville institution. It's *the* place to bring little league after-parties, birthday parties, and other events. Because of this, children are often running around, often unsupervised by their parents. Plus, their cinnamon sticks are the best! The restaurant has a neat decor with a juke box where you can select from a wide variety of current and older music.
