We chose Schlotzsky's because the sandwich we ordered was advertised on the menu board at $8.49. When we received our bill, we were charged $9.19 instead. I asked the manager about the price discrepancy, and he told me that he had no control over it because the menu board had the incorrect price. I explained that, as the customer, I reasonably expected to pay the price that was advertised on the menu board. His response was essentially, "Sorry, ma'am, there's nothing I can do." I specifically confirmed that he was the manager (Demi was his name). While I understand that menu boards can occasionally contain errors, I was disappointed that the manager made no effort whatsoever to correct the charge or make things right for the customer. It wasn't about the 70 cents per sandwich-it was about the principle and the way the situation was handled. I even told him directly that if the restaurant was going to stand by the higher price despite advertising the sandwich for $8.49, I would be leaving a poor review and would reconsider stopping at Schlotzsky's in the future. We travel I-45 to and from Galveston regularly, so this is a location we could have easily continued visiting. Unfortunately, after this experience, I'll think twice before stopping here again. A small pricing mistake can happen. What matters is how you handle it when a customer brings it to your attention.
