And their spicy level is indeed Korean spicy, not the americanized tuned-down version. Everything tasted good, although the portions seemed noticeably smaller than what you'd typically get at Korean restaurants. I wouldn't say it's overpriced, but it's also not particularly great value considering the portion sizes. The tables look clean, though I did notice a bit of kitchen smell (?) when I entered. Staff were friendly. It's definitely convenient if you're around Northwestern's North Campus, which is probably why this was actually my first time here since I work on South Campus. I probably wouldn't make my way up here specifically for the food, but I'd be happy to come back if I happen to be around North Campus.

The Fire Chicken Bowl definitely has a bit of a kick; I'm not big on spicy food, but my mom enjoyed it. The Korean BBQ Chicken Bowl had sauce that soaked nicely into the rice and tasted great, though the chicken itself was a bit bland. I recommend getting an extra side of Garlic Parmesan Aioli to dip the chicken in. It made a big difference. Overall, the bowls were pretty filling, and we enjoyed them.

I also ordered a side of cole slaw and red beans and rice. The guy behind the counter said they don't have mild sauce for the chicken. Then he told me the sauces that they had, so I said no sauce. I guess he was also relating the sauces for the rib tips when I already said no sauce. They cook the chicken fresh and may take a little time. When I got home, I was ready to dig in but I found out the sauce discussion left my rib tips with no bbq sauce. I called them and a nice lady told me I would be taken care of the next time, I visit. Thank goodness, I had bbq sauce. But I tried the tips without sauce and they were seasoned well. I put on some Sweet Baby Rays on them and dang it was good. The tips were tender and a lot of meat. The chicken was so good that I wish I would have gotten more. It was seasoned and crunchy. The Cole slaw was okay and the red beans and rice was good, just which it had a little more pot liquor. I would definitely go back. Also the prices that they have online is really outdated.

Good wide menu with items that you don't find at your mainstream japanese restaurant. More like old school Chicago Japanese. (Thinking a blend here of old Ginza and maybe some parts Sunshine.) Notables: - ebi snijo (homemade shrimp ball) - hamachi jaw (if you haven't had it) - hirame no cha soba age (fried green tea noodles and whitefish rolled with seaweed) - evokes the old Ginza restaurant for me - octopus sunomono Even after three recent visits without repeat apps, there are still more we haven't had elsewhere to try. The gyozas were perfectly cooked and seasoned but the standout was definitely the ramen. In addition to noodles, tofu, vegetables and broth, the ramen also contained a large veggie/potato fried patty, which was an absolutely delicious addition. My dining companion and I devoured and then finished our ramen despite the large portions. Small note for vegans and vegetarians: the veggie ramen typically comes with chicken broth, so you must specifically ask for it to be made vegan when you are ordering. Our server was efficient and polite. The food arrived quickly. The ambiance was simple and clean: not much to write home about, but the food itself was spectacular.
