Had to do something here and needed something quick! They ran out of boxed salads, they usually have them ready to grab but n when I went I guess the rush took it all. The chef/staff who makes the hot foods (not grill) was kind enough to make me a salad with what they had in the hot plate. I am not picky with my salad so I was good with lettuce, chicken, cheese, and grilled veggies drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette. Minor concern is that the warm food will make your salad warm, andI was fine with that! When I lined up to pay, I didn't know about the 2nd cashier so another staff told me it's much quicker since others in line are ordering from the grill. Unfortunately the 2nd cashier staff was not friendly, I asked if the had iced coffee and somehow his attitude showed when his face changed with a response as if I wasn't supposed to ask and it's still hot coffee(?). This cafeteria is on the 9th floor of the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. If you work at the court or have business to appear in court then it's really not bad in a pinch. The only other quick food options on the block are food vendors and Starbucks. I only get breakfast here. I'll either get an omelette or a breakfast burrito. They have burritos premade but I get them custom with additions. Even if the burrito comes out to $15-$20 it's still less than ordering via Postmates. The cashiers are polite and have a good energy. Come for the atmosphere, but make sure to check your bill at the register before you pay. So I came in the morning, kind of early. The menu price said one thing, but my bill at the register was a good 40% higher. Why? I don't know if the cash register person rang me up wrong, or didn't know how to correctly put my menu item into the system. The breakfast burrito on the menu is $6.99. When he rang me up, he said it was $10.99. So I pointed out the menu to him, and all the options that were available, and then asked him why my particular choice was $4 more expensive. I honestly feel like he just didn't know how to correctly input the item into the system. Maybe he was trying to do the burrito, and then add in an extra add-in item? Anyways, a quick talk with the manager, and things got straightened out. The food is okay. The breakfast burrito that I ordered was hash browns, probably 1.5 eggs, and a meat protein. Nothing fancy, nothing special. You could tell the hash browns were the kind that were probably the frozen ones. The burrito had No taste, no salt, no flavor. If that's your thing, go for it. They did offer red or green salsa on the side which I turned down. I just wanted to know how the burrito tasted on its own... which was bland. It's a small size. Probably made from a 10inch or 12-inch flour tortilla. It's smaller than a 1 dollar bill. It's not the big huge giant burritos that you get from the food trucks out on the street that have more and more and more of everything... but cost twice as much. So in essence, you have to decide what's within your budget, and how hungry you actually are. The View and the atmosphere are what bring people up here! You can't beat that view of Grand Central park, City Hall, etc. In summary, I'd say I do want to give this place another try if I'm in the area, and see what the lunch menu is like. Overall, the prices seem fair for what you're getting. Nothing outrageously expensive. Parking? Good luck. There is no street parking around the area. You'll have to use the underground parking structure for the courthouse, which is astronomically expensive in my opinion. Super convenient little place for jury duty days. As an outsider, it was quite amazing to see so many lawyers in one place, doing their thing, their routine. It's a totally different world here haha. The customer service is pretty fast. I got the turkey melt and it was amazing! So so good! Super tasty. It literally was a mini win for the day. I've only been here once but unfortunately I wasn't very impressed. The set up was a bit confusing but after a few minutes you find your way. If you want something prepared on the grill you place your other at that station. Here you'll receive a ticket that you'll present at the register to pay. They also have prepackaged grab and go snacks (like fruit and granola bars) you can pick up as you head toward the register. I think they also had oatmeal available, French toast, omelettes, and an entire lunch menu complete with some international options. On my visit I tried the Tuesday morning special, a breakfast burrito with a coffee for about $6. The burrito came with your choice of meat, eggs, potatoes and cheese. Green or red salsa was also available on ice. After payment you can fix up your food at the condiment station. They have all sorts of toppings and hot sauces, creamers and sugars for coffee, ketchup, all of that. Once your finished here you can choose to enjoy your meal inside at the tables or outside on the panoramic patio. The views of downtown are really quite beautiful, that was the best thing about this place. My burrito did have decent flavor, the green sauce made it MUCH better. It came piping hot with two complimentary strands of hair. I was forgiving anger the first strand but once I found the second one I trashed the whole thing. I've worked at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse for 2 years, so I can honestly say that this place has been on a steady decline since I've been inside the building. Truly the only positive thing about this place is a longtime employee named David! He's such a sweetheart and a true delight. I feel like he's the only thing that keeps a lot of court employees coming back! While it still has the same name, this place is under new ownership as of a few months ago. The OG owner still works there and the new owner does, too. We had high hopes when the new owner took over ... that things would get better - they got worse! ***THERE ARE FOOD TRUCKS TUE-THU RIGHT OUTSIDE!*** Exit on the 2nd floor by Starbucks and there will be 3-4 of them outside. The prices are just as expensive as what you'll pay at the Cafe, but obvi the food quality is 10 Xs better. That's right, I said the prices are the same! To demonstrate ... the pics I attached are of a $6 grilled cheese and a $2.80 side order of onion rings. For starters, where does one even buy bread that small?! Under the new ownership, all the sammies have shrunk to this size. Unbelievable. For nearly $3, I would expect to get more than SIX onion rings ... but I didn't. lol At the Cafe, you can barely buy a sammy, bag of chips, and a drink for $10. The price point vs qualify of food at this place is infuriating because I feel like they're taking advantage of the fact that jurors and litigants don't know of any other places to go. There are a ton of kids at this courthouse because the building handles family law cases, yet this place doesn't even offer a kids menu. So to help out, in addition to the trucks outside, the 2nd floor snack shop inside the courthouse is really great. They offer freshly made breakfast burritos, sammies, and oatmeal at breakfast, then soup, pizza, hot dogs, and a variety of cold food items at lunch for MUCH LESS than what you pay upstairs at the Cafe. Additionally, if you walk directly across the park to the Hall of Records, enter from the park then go down 2 floors to the basement ... amazing cafeteria down there! You can get the best, custom made stir fry there for under $8 and it's literally 2 lbs of food. Just don't go here. There are so many other, cheaper/better options nearby. read more

I had to be on court all day and was so glad to find such a good place so convenient to court. I is on top floor of courthouse and the views are spectacular. The food is wonderful too They have a ton of snack foods you can take with you. There is a grill for made to order food such as patty melts and cheeseburgers. They also have several items ready made such as chicken teriyaki. I had the Indian chicken over tic and it was moist and delicious. This is an "old school" courthouse cafe that is probably still serving the same kind of food it did 40 years ago. While that isn't great, it isn't particularly bad either. There are also redeeming qualities which make this place worth a look. Let's get this out of the way first - the food offerings consist of plain, home-cooked style breakfast and lunch fare, none of which is particularly outstanding from a culinary perspective. While the food is usually fresh, hot, and cooked to order, the high prices leave a bit to be desired. But then again, what else would you expect to find inside a courthouse? All that said, the mediocre food and high prices are made up for by the location, which is totally unique, from the cafe itself to the views it offers. It still has original wood paneling on the entrance from what looks to be the 1950s or 1960s, real wooden telephone booths in the walls out front (sans payphones), and original gold "PANORAMA CAFE" lettering on the glass. And of course, there are the excellent views of downtown Los Angeles from the balcony surrounding the cafe, which wraps around three-quarters of the entire building. If you are an aspiring photographer, this location might give you some unique angles to photograph some of the more iconic buildings in Los Angeles. You can see City Hall and the Administrative Complex from one side, Disney Concert Hall on another, and various skyscrapers from another side. On a clear day, you can see the ocean and other tall buildings to the west toward Santa Monica. Plus, the cafe itself is fairly spacious and there is usually enough room for 50 or more people around lunch time. You can freely walk all around the balcony without getting in anyone's way. If you are in the courthouse on business or jury duty, you should definitely drop by for a convenient lunch or breakfast. Overall, you probably shouldn't come here looking for great food. However, you will find some cool views and a piece of Americana that is worth seeing at least once. read more

What a refreshing restaurant atop the Stanley Mosk Superior Courthouse. Up on the 9th floor. They deserve 4 1/2 stars! Friendly staff, good food, pretty good selection on menu and can't beat the views for lunch. I have wanting to try this restaurant for quite a long time in this neck of the woods. I had the Tostada salad steak bowl and the free fountain drink because of Yelp check-in. To my surprise, This salad was filling and pretty tasty with Steak, black beans, rice, lettuce, cheese, salsa and sour cream. I met some old friends outside and ate with them like a patio restaurant. Stanley Mosk Courthouse for my first day of jury duty. Was pleasantly surprised to find the Panorama cafeteria up on the 9th floor with Grab-N-Go quick salads so I didn't have to stand in the long Grill line for food, or leave the courthouse, which would have taken more time. I headed straight outside to the patio with my Chinese Chicken Salad ($8.95), grabbed a seat and enjoyed a quiet lunch, some sunshine, and a gorgeous view of the Disney Concert Hall across the street. Best part of my day. I've read some reviews from employees who enjoyed the previous ownership better, but for a first-timer to the courthouse who isn't familiar with what's around here and on a strict limited lunch break, this worked for me. read more

For downtown, this place is not bad at all. It is on the top floor of the court house, and the view is fantastic. The variety is plenty and for the price you can't beat it. I had a BLT here with fries and if you check in you get a free soda. Total came to be like 7 and some change. Not bad! You can also have a lunch special for eight something. They have two view decks, facing west and eastward. It is a really nice place to unwind and have a quiet lunch while looking at the views. The staffs are friendly and professional. They're usually premade, wrapped in foil, and kept warm in a tray so they're easy to grab and go. They have a few different meat options and are labeled clearly on the outside. They're not too big and have a good split between the eggs, potatoes, meat, etc. Panorama Cafe is on the 9th floor of Stanley Mosk and has an awesome wraparound deck with plenty of outdoor seating and great views of downtown, Grand Park, and the surrounding hillsides. The coffee is not very good (Elia's Snack Bar has better coffee). The Naked Juices cost $3.95. The Smart Water costs $2.75. Each snack (e.g. a bag of chips) costs $1.15+. I understand the courthouse cafe was previously pretty gnarly, so this place is probably quite a step up. As for the staff, they are all great. Very very friendly people, and they provide fantastic customer service. The girl who takes orders at the grill remembers your name and your order if you drop by frequently enough, and she always makes sure to say, "Thank you! Thank you!" before you go. read more

For the longest time, this cafeteria was run by the county and as such, had low grade food. Well, I went here today and saw a "People Love Us On Yelp" sticker and I had no idea that this had a complete makeover. Panorama Cafe carries a great selection of fresh salads. Not just your average salads, but creative blends such as beet, hearts of palm, cranberry tuna, and so on. I got a beet and garbanzo bean salad for a little over $4.50. It had ample chunks of beet and the garbanzo beans added savory flavor to the salad. It also serves sushi and a wide variety of lunch items. Wow, this place was not what I expected amongst the bustle of Downtown LA! It's on the top floor (9th level) of a court house hence I was expecting some over priced bland restaurant - Thanks goodness, this was NOT the case! Imo, it was very similar to Chipotle but better because the carne asada is juicier hehe. I haven't tried the salad but there were a variety of fresh and beautifully mixed (around $8-10 each) greens. The view on the patio was great - overlooked downtown LA. It's SUPER bright up there with the reflection of the Disney Concert Hall so remember your sun glasses! There's plenty of space inside to sit. You'll see a diversity of people from all different races and classes - interesting spot for people-watching. The venue was a clean cafeteria. Perhaps my rating is lower than the other yelpers because I ate there about 1:30. At that time of day, the salads are gone and the bins that hold them are empty. A couple of the menu items have been sold out, and the pulled pork sandwich that sounds so good, actually looks pretty stale in the serving tray. Since it is the courthouse cafeteria, and the clientele isn't likely to go a couple of blocks to grab a bite somewhere else, I guess it really doesn't matter. So I just order a cheeseburger and fries. The fries were pretty good, but the cheeseburger was just meh. I would guess it was about 3 ounces of meh, maybe 4 and the tomato was so under-ripe, that I wound up removing it. Also the dining room was a mess. We all know that neither attorneys or defendants are likely to bus their own tables, so why wasn't there a staff person to do it. Decided to try Panorama Cafe after reading a glowing review published in Time magazine by some writer named David Gershwin back in 2014. Well, the conclusion is ... I got Gershwined. Never again! True, the rooftop view is pleasant esp. on a sunny day. But, the food sucks. I mean, it really, really sucks. The ambiance is straight up cafeteria. Not to mention the poor ventilation system -- the air quality inside the dining room is gagful. Then there's the depressing company of weasely courtroom types dressed like extras from a 70s D-grade TV series. The only escape involves, barely, snagging one of the outside tables, where at least you get some fresh air. I have eaten hear several times, most recently yesterday and again last week and I absolutely love the workers - they are very polite and helpful - the type of people you don't see daily anywhere. That alone is worth 5 stars, but on top of that, the food is good and not too expensive, considering they have a monopoly - no other real restaurant in the building or nearby (other than the hot dog stand outside if you like that). Last Thursday I had the vegetable soup - there were large hearty cuts of vegetables in a delicious broth, that was piping hot. I have been craving more. Yesterday I tried the breakfast - I had eggs, hash browns, toast and coffee. Everything was perfect. It was the first time I've ever had toast that was served hot at a restaurant, and the food was hot too, prepared when ordered. The cashier (young Asian guy) and the food helper behind the counter were very helpful and eager to help, helping me decide what to get and making sure I had enough room in the coffee for cream etc. There are lots of tables, mostly occupied by lawyers so it's fun to hear their conversations as well. Overall, I look forward to this facility when i'm visiting the courthouse. You can also sit outside and get amazing views of the city which is priceless. read more

Of course the atmosphere is a bit on the "meh" side, since the primary customer base consists of lawyers, jurors, and employees of the courthouse. Since the New owner has taken over it has reverted back to what it was when I first started stopping by 15 years ago. Then one day Chris took over and the food was being made fresh, it was great. Finally, after a year on my bookmarked list, I finally had a reason to be in DTLA on a weekday and I wasn't about to leave without going to Panorama Cafe. Located atop the Superior Court building, you think making your way up here shouldn't be so hard. This isn't the case. You'll have to go through the security check and if you mistakenly take the elevators after passing through the checkpoint, it will only take you to the 6th or 7th floor and you'll have to take another elevator to the top. However, if you walk down the long corridor and take the back elevators, those will take you all the way to the 9th floor. Food here is cheap and quite tasty but it's the view that is to die for. You get to see all of DTLA and the the best view of the Disney Concert Hall. Ended up with Chicken Pasta Wednesday Special. For $6, it's not bad at all. Unfortunately, coming back probably won't be an option seeing as how this place only opens on Mon-Fri for lunch. Which is a bummer but for the lawyers and defendants alike, everyone has to eat, so why not here. You get great views, good cheap food and you don't have to travel very far. read more

This was my go-to place when I was in jury duty for 3 weeks on the Britney Spears case. It's located at the top floor of the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. The view is nice from up there. They have sandwiches, salads, sushi, and a few hot food items. The price is pretty reasonable for downtown. They have hot breakfast in the morning made to order too. I enjoy everything except some of the hot food items. I ordered teriyaki chicken once and it was soaked with sauce and way too sweet. The staff is the best part. Google and their guest star chefs, Capital Group's made to order entrees, I am sure at Yelp HQ, the head chef is blowing sugar glasses right this minute to serve all the Yelp Corporate members some amazing creation. Food: Better than your normal cafeteria food. They had Sushi, sandwich, grill, Mexican and pre-made stations and the lines moved fast. I picked up a cobb salad for $7.95 and it was good. Size was appropriate, lettuce crisp, Avocado green, bacon real, blue cheese nice amount, and salad dressing was thick and creamy. View - one short dress and a drink away from a over priced roof top bar. Panorama Cafe, a little gem hidden inside the courthouse on 111 N Hill Street. To get there you'll have to go through metal detectors and the such that everyone has already commented on on previous reviews. You'll have to take the elevators to the 9th floor on the WEST side of the building. Unfortunately these elevators literally take all eternity, so I'd suggest taking the escalators near the west elevators. Believe me, unless you luckily get an elevator just as it arrives and no one else presses any floor, the escalators are faster. Once you get to Panarama Cafe, there are THREE lines. Unless you want the mexican food, you can walk past the line forming at the door and go the grill station or the daily special station. There are also already prepared salads and sandwiches and the such that you can just grab and go to the cashier, so if you prefer that skip the lines! BUT!!!! I'd suggest you stay in the first line forming at the door anyways because the mexican food station is where it's at. I got a burrito for $6.95 + $1.00 for guac. They do it chipotle style in that you say, "I'd like rice, beans, some type of meat, salsa, sauce, lettuce, cheese, onions, cilantro, guac, sour cream" and then they just dump one thing after another on your burrito until it forms this gigantic mass which I swear was 1.5x bigger than the burritos at chipotle. Then, as if watching all that glorious food go into your tortilla wasn't enough, they TOAST IT. Let me say that again. THEY TOAST IT. Someone finally discovered a way to one-up chipotle, hurry up all you wannabe chipotle's, this is your ticket to a successful mexican fast food restaurant. So anyways, all that was $8.65, and 2/3 through the burrito I was stuffed... kind of like how that burrito was stuffed. Then I still endeavored to finish it because mommy said finish everything on your plate and then I was really stuffed... kind of like how that burrito was REALLY stuffed. Okay on to the more important thing of how the burrito tasted. You only get one rice choice, one bean choice, and two meat choices. The rice was decent. The beans were subpar compared to chipotle. The meat you can pick chicken or carne for the same price. I picked chicken and it was more tender than chipotle's chicken, but not as flavorful. The salsas also weren't as good as chipotle's unfortunately. They don't have corn, but honestly that burrito couldn't get stuffed anymore so that's fine. So once they got it all in, let me say it again, they TOASTED IT. And because of that all the cheese melted right into the beans and rice and everything and it became pretty wonderful. So in summing it up, it was basically a burrito which tasted more like a quesadilla, and in it's own way... that's kind of mind blowing? For all you jurors out there, don't go to the other cafeterias they have in the court houses, go to panorama cafe. Very affordable for the amount of food they give you. read more

This place is just another government-contracted cafe in DTLA. You go here because it has a nice view and honestly, because you don't have much time for lunch between trials. The food is moderately tasty but you are here because you're trapped. Come here at 11:30am and its empty. Come here at 12pm-1pm, and its a mob of 8 floors of courtrooms emptying out for lunch. okay so the views here are ridonkulously amazing....like so freaking amazing that when I saw the views I started kicking myself for not having found it sooner because I would have sooo tried to convince somebody to let me have my wedding up there. Is that even allowed? ah well. Let me just say that the tostada is amazing. Like super legit amazing, not the ghetto but legit amazing. I have random cravings here and there for their tostada. I ate breakfast here and while the egg, tomato, avocado sandwich was just ok, the view of Disney Concert Hall was amazing. I would come back to this restaurant just to take in the view. There is an absolutely huge patio with a few tables for you to choose from that are lined up against the building. On the other side of the restaurant is a smokers patio with a view of Grand Park. You do not have to have courthouse business in order to eat here, it is open to anyone who is hungry. It's on the 9th floor and I recommend taking the escalator to get there as the elevator can sometimes take a very long time. As I only ate here once I can't talk about the rest of the menu but truly, the view is so spectacular you won't mind if the food is mediocre. The staff is lovely, very helpful and friendly. read more
