I started a new job in this neighborhood and am happy to have had the chance to try it for lunch today. I placed my order online and picked up the food without issue. I had an order of vegetable pakora and ordered a container of tamarind chutney since it did not say it came with it. However, when my order came, I had two containers of tamarind chutney and one mango chutney. So no need to order that. The pakora were hot, crispy and flavorful. It was a little dense compared with some I've had but still very satisfying. One order could easily be shared by 3 people. I also ordered a lunch special of Aloo Palak. It came fresh and hot inside a two section plastic take out container with a piece of papadum. It The rice was fluffy and flavorful and included sauteed cabbage. The Aloo Palak was really nicely seasoned and flavorful, the potato tender and bite sized. Overall I give a very positive review because it was easy to order and pick up. We drove through the area and decided that Indian food sounded good to warm us up. I found this spot on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The inside is simple, cozy, and clean. The service was great and attentive with no issues at all. We ordered vegetable samosas to start and then chicken tikka masala, vegetable korma, and garlic naan for the main entrees. We ordered medium spice and it was on the lower end of spice but was still tasty. The food was flavorful and cooked well. The prices were also reasonable which was a bonus. Downtown Springfield, MA was somewhat lacking in terms of "nightlife" and restaurants. My date and I came here due to the walking proximity to our hotel. I checked out the menu online and the chicken paratha wrap caught my eye, but when I arrived it wasn't on the menu. After inquiring they told me that it was for online/to-go orders only, but they were nice enough to let me order it for dine-in as well. The wrap was tasty and contained a zesty sauce. Staying nearby on business and I pulled up Yelp to find what was around. I quite enjoy Indian food and jumped at the occasion. It was a mere few blocks from my hotel in an area that seems to be revitalizing slowly. The entrance is nice with the cold weather climate staple of an entrance door, then the real entrance door. Minimizes drafts and is quite common. I arrived for a late lunch and was quickly seated. The inside (reason for the minus one star) needs a bit of love in terms of scuffed walls from chairs, well worn carpet, but don't let that detract you. I ordered from the lunch menu which was quite a good price and appealing. I added a glass of wine, a Cabernet from the menu, was just ok, but I wasn't expecting greatness. My meal came out surprisingly quickly, and it was delicious. The basmati rice was cooked to perfection and the Aloo Chole was at my request medium spice and very flavorful. Rich and intense flavors will greet your taste buds and make them dance. Service is friendly and they do a large take out business which seems to leave some guests waiting longer then I did. My family of 4 had dinner here for the first time at 6pm on Valentine's Day. Parking was right on the street and it was metered, but the meter times end at 6 so parking was easy and free. It's a small place with just a few tables but we were seated right away. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We ordered papadam, paneer pakora and garlic naan to start, with an amazing house chutney. All very good. They brought a carafe of ice water and glasses--only downside to that was that it didn't seem to be filtered and had a strong chlorine taste. They didn't offer bottled water and I don't usually drink soft drinks but ended up with a Diet Coke which was fine. We had chicken saag, chicken tiki and lamb biryani. The chicken was remarkably moist for white meat and very flavorful, as was the lamb. The rice was delicious, with saffron and toasted cumin seeds. We also ordered one beer and a couple of lassi yoghurt drinks that my boys raved about, though they didn't like them served on ice. There was enough left over for two lunches today! Our total bill was $116, which seemed quite reasonable and we'll definitely be going back. read more

They've changed the menu some, and some old favorite dishes have been dropped (one star off for the absence of the fish masala I came for) but the food is still good. Friendly, fast service. The restaurant has always had a pleasant, lived-in atmosphere with no pretensions. We visit Springfield often to visit friends. Have tried some of the Indian restaurants here in Springfield, and in my opinion this was the most dissatisfied visit to any Indian restaurant. No wonder our Indian friends did not recommend going here. Don't get us wrong..the decor is great, the ambience is nice..eve the staff is very helpful. The food though...no wonder there are no Indians verifying the 4 star Yelp rating that this place boasts. Our lamb boti curry and the butter chicken preparation was exactly the same. These are 2 different preparations with distinct flavours. But here they looked exactly the same and even tasted the same. Granted that Indian cuisine does depend a lot on the preparation...if this restaurant's prep is the same for the 2 the waiter should have informed us. The chicken in the butter chicken was good. The lamb in the lamb prep was like shoe leather. So if you do end up here...stick to chicken. For appetisers...try to stay away from tandoori chicken. It's pretty dry here unlike the juicy tandooris we have gotten used to. For dessert we got the fried dough in sugar syrup...gulag jaman...tough in the center. I messed mentioning the daal makhani...lentils was not upto the mark either. The amritsari fish was good though. So unless you have not yet tried good India food...stay away from this joint. The food is delicious and the price is fair in comparison to some other places in the area. My husband said that their tandoori chicken is one of the most flavorful. I love their baigan bharta. The filling was flavorful although the outside I do prefer crunchier. Overall it was good. -Vegetable Tikki: I liked these better than their samosas and it was the first time ice had tikkis. It was more flavorful and the outside was the crisp I was looking for. It reminded me of a tasty falafel. -Garlic Naan: I was expecting to be more garlicky and the edges were burnt. It was good although could've been better simply by being unburnt. Customer Service: I ordered takeout however the service seemed poor. -Waiters saw me enter and they waited for me to approach them at the back of the restaurant where they were just standing around - It was also extremely slow; I came later afternoon and there were only 5 people -As I handed my card to pay the waiter that took my order snatched my card out of my hand -They left me feeling like I bothered them for bringing my business here Overall: I would not recommend because of the service offered. My husband and I visited the restaurant last night and were very disappointed for starters we ordered an appetizer and as I took a piece of it the owner told the waiter it was not ours and told me to put it back without regards for covid-19. My husband's lamb entree had four small pieces of lamb covered in sauce and we had to share one small bowl of rice when I complained about the dessert being so small the owner became hostile with us so we paid the bill and left. It's very very hard to get decent Indian food in the valley. My experience with Indian food is out towards Boston, where every restaurant really nails it. Out here in the Western part of the state, though, everyone makes their sabzi and korma totally differently. It all tends to be on the sweet side, with random nuts and raisins in food that really shouldn't have it. However- artistic licensing with food is totally fine. Panjabi Tadka, however, makes food the way that the Indian aunties and uncles who taught me to cook do. Everything is so homestyle (with the restaurant flourish of being creamier). Their sabzi is all amazing and not over the top 'shahi' style. If you go, try the papri chaat- it's so amazing. Their pakori are great too. The coconut soup is a wonderfully cardamom spiced slightly sweet soup perfect for starting the meal. We tend to get the chicken 65, or chicken vindaloo and have never been disappointed. If I remember correctly their dal makhani is great too. Out of every restaurant in/near the valley- this is the one that does it best. Forget the spots in Northampton. Also- to refute what another user has rated: Every time we come here, there are plenty of Indian folks eating here. Unlike the other spots, which are usually only white American filled. read more

I've tried many Indian restaurants and I tend to find them all equally good. Panjabi Tadka really stood out from the rest. The meats were tender and the curries I would describe as sweeter, and with a more subtle spice blend that I've had before. The ginger tends to stand out and liven up the palate. My friend tried the mango ice cream which came with whipped cream and cardamom, and it was outstanding. The gulab jamun had a frank honey flavor with a little tartness to it and a subtle cardamom highlight. read more
