Rome is a overrun by tourists, and mediocre restaurants catered to tourists alike. Panificio Mosca is one of the rare exceptions. If you've never had a "blanco" pizza, you owe it to yourself to have one. A blanco pizza is baked simply pizza dough topped with olive oil and salt. And yet, it will be the best pizza you've ever tasted. A close second is pizza topped with potatoes, and they also have a "rosa", which is pizza topped with a very basic tomato sauce.
They sell pizzas by weight, and accept cash only. Just tell the server how big a slice you want them to cut for you. They also have little pizettes. Buy a slice of whatever is fresh out of the oven. You cannot go wrong. Have fun exploring this local gem. read more
