The catering order that we picked up for a company luncheon was exceptionally prepared. Every component and utensil was included. Which explains the higher cost of catering @Panera. The soup was hot, the salad was crisp and the sandwich combinations were thoughtfully composed. The app "rapid pick up" order is very convenient. I can order on my app before I leave, and pick it up at the drive through window already paid. I love the salads and "pick two" menu. Their coffee is terrible. But everything food-wise I've tried has been fresh with good portion size. read more

Worst service I've ever had... and I didn't even place an order. And this is probably the first review I've ever posted, because I'm not one to say much (unless you're my husband). I walked in and there was one customer ahead of me at the time, paying for his order. The cashier looked at me and said one moment, so I stepped up to her register. She picked out the previous customers' bagels and, for some reason that remains unknown to me, her manager came over and leaned on the counter while she cut them. He walked away without acknowledging me standing there (fine, but it exacerbates the moral of the story). She then put the bagels in the toaster and continued to stand there while they cooked. Then she ran them through again, while I'm still waiting, to even, maybe, place my order and pay. The bagels come out BLACK and she looks over her shoulder at me, gives me the "friendly" smile and says sorry, then puts the bagels through a third time! It immediately lights on fire from the heat because it is already so charred. Once it drops, she turns to me and says "too dark" and turns to start this process over again. Are you kidding me?! This was when I walked out. Not only did I wait 10 min. (I was checking the time), but the customer whose bagel you are testing the burn rate of, is also waiting this entire time, for a bagel!! Seriously!?! Now let me state my intentions: I'm making my way back down state to get to work on time and had about an extra 10 to grab A coffee before making the 3 hr. trek south. I came in at 7am and was one of the only customers there, ordered a bagel, had it brought to me right away, but waited 20 minutes for my chai latte. Eventually I got up to ask one of the employees if I was supposed to go somewhere to pick up my latte, and came across the waitress with it in hand. I quickly took it, thanked her, and had to leave for work so I would not be late. I think next time I will try the drive thru. read more

This used to be one of our favorite places, it had great soups, salads and sandwiches when they first opened. But later on they were inconsistent, the lettuce in the salad would be wilted, hardly any tuna on the tuna sandwiches and the soup would arrive barely warm. Once I took my soup back and asked if they could heat it up, they didn't seem very happy but they did it but then told me there is also a microwave in the front that I could use too. We'll give them some time and see if they improve. read more

Although it is a Panera and their restaurants as a chain are high quality, this location kinda disappointed me. I went in on a lunch break looking for a quick meal. With a short line I thought that I could get my sandwich quickly, eat it, and head back to work. Unfortunately once I ordered my meal I waited about 10 minutes to get my food, which was far from what I wanted. I had asked for no lettuce and tomato but I got both on my sandwich. The woman working behind the counter was rude when I asked to have it remade and I did not feel like my business mattered to them. I usually have good service at Panera but not here. I ordered bbq chicken Mac and cheese and a grilled cheese. My boyfriend ordered bacon Mac n cheese with extra bacon and chicken noodle soup. First off they forgot half the order when they gave the bag to us. I had to find someone first to tell about the problem and then she asked to see the receipt but I was never given a receipt or asked if I had wanted one. When we had opened the food they had given us two plain Mac n cheeses instead of what we ordered. I will not be going back to this Panera anymore. read more

Went to Panera's, a big mistake! Sat for 40 (yes) minutes and had NOT received our food. Went to talk to a manager and was told that the Khios's were not working! We had placed and paid for our order just fine! Asked WHY they hadn't come out and informed the customer? And the response was amazing (to say the least). Was told they were waiting to see if anyone was going to let them know (really!). Was told they would get our order right away. 15 (yes) 15 more minuets passed NO food! Went back to talk to manager again, she said she had FORGOTTEN, but would get on it right then; after setting a total of 50 minutes and still NO food I asked for a refund. We paid for our drinks, which you would have thought they would have comped! Will NOT be back to the Traverse City Panera's again! Actual hair in my to-go macaroni. 4 of them. I love Panera and go often for the Mac n cheese so I was super excited to pop the top off my food. I found a tiny black curly hair and thought "I'll just take it out, it'll be gross but I love my Mac". Until I stirred around my noodles and found not one or two more, but three more. When we came in, yes it was late, but we asked if it was too late for dine in. We were told that it was not, so we ordered our food. Nothing extravagant, just some soup and mac and cheese. While ordering, the manager disrespected an employee right in front of us. They were also out of baguettes that come with the soup, which was not a big deal. We bought a whole baguette and they offered to cut it into 4s. We didn't receive the bag of chips or the apple that would've been offered instead of the baguette. So, we asked for them and we all told the manager which option we would like. Then, he only brought one bag to the table and left the others without them. So, we asked again. The manager brought the chips and then proceeded to say, "I can give you 20 minutes, but then i'll have to ask you to leave." Considering that we are all pretty slow eaters and wanted to enjoy a meal that we just paid over $50 for, this was ridiculous and just made the situation worse. Then, to make matters worse, when the same employee was getting ready to leave, he confronted her AGAIN right in front of us. Then, the mac and cheese was BARELY warm. I knew better too! Drive thru screws up the order every single time. The last time they forgot to put bacon on my green goddess salad. The time before that, they forgot the hard boiled egg! This time I asked, very politely, that they not forget the bacon on my GG. I had the feeling that I should look through the salad as I was leaving, but didn't. If you are concerned about virus transmission this is NOT the place to go. Signage all over the store reads that masks are required for employees and that customers and employees are social distanced. Almost every employee was seen with their nose out of their masks and one employee had a bandana as a mask that kept falling down so basically no mask not to mention was on the make line touching his face to correct the bandana from falling. That's not ok even if the virus pandemic wasn't a thing. The tables are not spaced 6 feet apart and the place is so packed it hardly allows 6 feet between customers standing in line or waiting for take out. Secondly, I have been to this location many times and I think my order is right about half of the time. Constantly training yet the staff turn over is incredible - no one knows what they're doing. First off, I will state that I love the salads and soups at Panera. This review has nothing to do with the quality of their food, rather their lack of basic customer service skills. My boyfriend and I have visited Panera frequently the past few months because it is a healthier and faster option for dinner when we are out and about, running errands in town. Every time we go there the tables are covered with dishes, they are out of some sort of ingredient and the faces and attitudes of the employees scream misery. Last night was the worst experience thus far. We went in for soup because we have both been feeling under the weather. My boyfriend ordered a bread bowl and I ordered a half soup/half salad combo. When the runner brought our food, she set a bowl of soup in front of him, without the bread bowl. No one approached us and told us that they were out of this item or offered any solutions. It was as though they thought we had simply forgotten what we ordered and would settle with whatever they brought out. I asked the girl if I could have a portion of my money back because there is a 30 cent difference between the two meals. This may not seem like a lot, but why should I pay for something we did not want? After speaking with her the manager, a 24 year old named Mike, she never came back to our table. Another employee ended up coming over and telling us that the manager is a "Jack A**" and does not know how to run the business because it is in a constant state of chaos. She added that he said that I could not have any money back because the bread bowl and the normal bowl are the same price. Glancing at the menu again, I had confirmed the price DIFFERENCE. The manager never came to talk to us or allowed me to be refunded this money. That is probably one of the poorest examples of customer service that I have ever experienced. Delivering someone a product that they did not order and not making amends for messing it up is not acceptable anywhere. Someone needs to send that manager back to basic training. LUCKILY the employee who had spoken with us was nice enough to bring us more bread and a dessert to make up for the error that the MANAGER was not going to amend. Long story short, we probably will not be visiting the Traverse City Panera location anytime again in the near future and I advise you to do the same. read more

I've given this Panera a lot of Business over the past yeAr, always giving them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they need to just work the kinks out, but at this point, it's just too late. Every single time I have ordered there, something is wrong with the order (missing chicken, wrong side, no dressing etc). This most recent time I went, my chicken sandwich was missing the chicken. When they replaced it, it came back with a giant hair on it. When they returned again, they forgot the side. Three times to make a simple order correct?! I was happy TC was finally getting a Panera Bread. Unfortunately, this location is a joke. The only thing they've ever gotten right from the kitchen is the iced green tea, & that's probably because it's a pre-made drink. Each time I've been at this location the employees are rude & poorly trained in customer service. The managers are rude. None of the employees have any sense of urgency no matter how busy it is. They are visibly annoyed that you are there. For some odd reason they serve the food to your table, & they do that haphazardly. I've seen them stack plates, smashing food (and probably contaminating it). They've thrown food down on the table. It's just ridiculous. Just buzz me like most Panera's! Then, there's no place to put your dishes - the employees are supposed to clean up the tables, except that they don't. People are constantly searching for tables that are clean. This is not a perk - this is a hassle. I'd rather bus my own table, like I do in any other Panera, and not leave a mess behind for someone else searching for a table. As for the food quality, I'm not sure where to even begin. The salads are usually wilted, and honestly, they look like something a previous customer left behind. They're certainly not worth the $8 or $9 price. They don't scoop the bread out of the bread bowls, so if you order your soup in a bread bowl, be prepared to pay $8 for a round loaf of bread with 3-4 bites of soup. Also, the bread is always cold. The sandwiches look like they were dropped on the floor. The pastries are always dry - as if they're always two or three days old. The food is terribly disappointing, and that's from someone who doesn't expect a lot from a fast food joint. Bottom line, the signs may read Panera Bread, but if you like Panera, be prepared: this is not anything like a typical Panera Bread experience. I will no longer return to this location. read more

Went through the drive through today, I was taking it back to work to eat. I must say I was very disappointed to open the bag and see that there was avacado smeared across my box and even on the napkins. It was very unapealing and looked like who ever had made it really didnt care about providing an apealing presentation. Second disappointment was when I opened the box to find the my expensive avocado cobb salad had 1/2 an egg and two small pieces of avocado and the container was about 1/2 full. The salad tasted good, however I am still hungry! For the price I feel like they should have at least added more lettuce to fill the container, it was the 1/2 order but I didn't think that meant they were only going to fill the box 1/2 way. This is the second time I have ordered through the drive through both times I had the same experience. You are rushed through your order so not much time to select what you want, then they tell you to go to the next window and act annoyed when your trying to get your money ready. As many people do, I have a bunch of change in my vehicle so I try to give exact change. It took me a few seconds to get the .28, however if they would give you your total at the window I could have been prepared. Not sure I will ever use drive through again. Seems like this gives the workers the right to give you messy, small portions! read more

In my family two occurrences of mediocre service has happened. Two months ago I ordered several breakfast items to carry out and upon arriving home one item was missing. I called back to the store and they acknowledge the problem promising to apply that paid item cost to a next purchase and my name would be in their system with a report for a next time I go back. I went last week and my name was not in any system although they applied some discount. Today my wife stopped by for breakfast before heading to work: she waited over 15 minutes and her stuff was there waiting for her I a shelf until somebody finally realized to bring it to her table. She also claims that the coffee was disgusting. We know Panera for many years in other locations but now that we have this restaurant in our town is deceiving to see that their service is sub-standard. Need a lot of improvement. read more

I ordered a salad and it came in some small box so loaded with dressing it was not edible, husband ordered chili and got a plastic spoon - apparenlty they thought we half eating in and half eating out - we were dining in. Then the bread. There was none at 1:30 pm on a Monday afternoon - and a hoilday at that. Then the iced tea - none with our lunch - they just started brewing it after we ordered and sat down at a table. We weren't the only ones disappointed today. read more
