Poppy seed salad
Mimi W.

The management at this location are really attentive and nice. I ordered the poppy seed chicken salad but the cook forgot the chicken. I couldn't come back because my lunch was only 30 minutes but the manager offered a refund or a remake. I put the salad in the fridge until I could go back and the manager on duty was more than accommodating. I didn't want the food to be thrown away so I just simply asked for some chicken. She even threw in a drink for me missing my lunch. Nice big building but I think more staff is possibly needed especially during the lunch rush.

Asiago bagel breakfast without the requested sausage patty! And burnt bagel.

Check your order! We purchase from paneras often. I need to warn you to check your order before leaving. Today we ordered an Asiago breakfast sandwich. Have had them MANY times. Today, the meat was missing and the bagel was burnt. Of course, we were home when this was discovered. After a call to the manager, we got a refund (hopefully) but no breakfast. Like I said, CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE LEAVING! Very Disappointed with their lack of customer service.

The salad I ordered...

Made the mistake of ordering based on the picture and described ingredients... the Green Goddess Cobb Salad. I don't know if they were out of what should've been on this salad or if they just didn't care to make it correctly! (If they were out, they should've mentioned that when my husband placed the order!) Also, I was worried I might not like the green goddess dressing so just in case, asked for sides of ranch.. which they didn't have (I don't know if they just don't offer it or if they were out.) Anyway, the picture that is shown with sliced eggs and tomatoes is what the salad SHOULD look like; the other picture is what I actually got. (Couldn't return because they had closed.)

Hair in salad

I have tried to give this location the benefit of the doubt. First, I love the soup and salad deals; they are affordable and yummy. The staff is always very nice and accommodating. The business is newer and clean. Now, a few months ago, I decided to dine in for lunch. I ordered a different soup and salad pick 2. I was done with my soup and was ready for my salad. Halfway through I found an insect leg and my stomach was turned for the remainder of the day. I brought it to the attention of the staff and a manger (quietly), and they refunded my meal. I left and didn't return until a couple of weeks ago. Everything was fine. I didn't see bugs or hair or anything that would deter me From returning until yesterday. I ordered a chicken Caesar and broccoli cheddar soup. Soup was fine but, in the beginning of me eating the salad, I found an fine curly/wavy and short strand of hair. My hair is braided (not exposed), and my texture is Afro and tight curls. In addition, the hair was a light brown (mine is black). I was again disappointed. I usually don't give many chances after anything being in my food that shouldn't be, but I know that this franchise is usually clean and consistent. I assumed that this location being new meant the standards were current for cleanliness. I will not returning to this location and I don't recommend it.

Always have issues with food at this location. For example today I ordered the chipotle chicken sandwich and received this. Went straight to the trash.

Grilled Macaroni and Cheese Sandwich
Haleigh B.

Is this what you call a sandwich? There were 4 macaroni noodles on one slice of bread, and the bread itself was burnt in several spots. We paid $18 and some change for burnt bread and not even a spoonful of macaroni and cheese. You guys didn't even try.

I have the coffee subscription with Panera and this location was accommodating to it - I was able to provide them my phone number and quickly got my coffee cup and was out of there in a jiff.

You pick two
Maddie K.

The location of this Panera is super convenient to my home and where I work. I love their food, 99% of the time it's all fresh and delicious, with an occasional winter piece of lettuce but cmon just pick it out. I like Panera as a healthier alternative to other quick bites and the SOUP. I love their fall soups, try the squash one it's so warm and tangy sweet ugh. I also love the you pick two option. This location has tablets you can order on and you take a pager and they deliver it right to your table, no human interaction required. I like the tablets because sometimes I get overwhelmed staring at the board deciding while the line is growing behind me. I like that it shows you the ingredients and lets you make mods right there. They also do delivery or pickup both of which are nice. Overall, consistently tasty food with quick service.

The buffet has a huge variety of foods to sample and boil for your dinner: including thinly sliced meats, preparations of tofu, noodles and dumplings, fish chunks, vegetables, exotic mushrooms and seaweeds. And a large assortment of marine invertebrates. There are seven different soup broths -- from simple miso-styles to Thai lemongrass styles. And a variety of dipping seasonings. We had a blast, trying different foods and flavors. This restaurant also has Korean cuisine: kimchi, dang myeon starch noodles, tteok rice logs for your soup, miyeok seaweed, seasoned meat slices. They have grills for doing Korean Galbi in-table grilled cuisine also. Note the name has changed: it is Lao Jia Hot Pot. Same place, same phone number, new name. Note also: I think you can't get traditionally-served prepared dishes. This restaurant has Hot Pot or Galbi, you get your ingredients from the buffet and cook your food at your table.

Although no one was at the front when I first arrived, the owner quickly came out, seated me, and checked in throughout my meal to make sure everything was going well. His hospitality set a great tone for the visit. My server, Romeo, was outstanding--friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. He took the time to explain how hot pot works, helped set up my table, and offered excellent broth and food recommendations. The broth temperature was perfect, and everything cooked just right. The restaurant itself felt a bit dated, but the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Even though it was quiet and I was dining alone, the attentive service and conversation made the experience enjoyable. While the location is somewhat hidden in a storefront area, this spot has strong potential and could be a big hit in a college town like Tallahassee with FSU, TCC, and FAMU nearby. Overall, it was well worth the visit, and I would definitely recommend Volcano Hot Pot.

Our lunch was beyond expectations! The She Crab and Tomato bisques were savory, filling, and hearty enough to eat as a standalone. Paired with the sandwiches, they satisfied our tummy with enough leftover for dinner too. The Fried Green Tomato sandwich was a perfect blend of savory and sweet with the tomato jam kissing the Rosemary Focaccia and the Boursin cheese added a nice bite. The Grilled Cheese sandwich brought us back to our childhood but better, with an adult flavor profile for refined palates. Shhh don't tell Mom. The level of care, expertise, and love that goes into each of these dishes, shines through each and every bite. We had the pleasure of enjoying Chef Leon's food at a local charity event. We were fortunate to snag a very coveted lunch spot. The restaurant is going through some changes and is currently not serving lunch BUT Chef Leon is offering soup orders on a regular basis. My goodness! I can just put all of my pots and pans away and order directly from him. I look forward to what Chef Leon has planned for us next. Be sure to follow him on Facebook to stay up to date on his plans and to get alerted to his next date for soup orders. I AM CERTAIN THAT WHATSVER Chef Leon has planned, it will be worth the wait.

It is the reason I would consider returning but "$12-$15" for a salad where I stand in line, pay at the register, find a seat and eat from a plastic bowl with plastic utensils seems a little high for this old boy. My wife regularly pays $14 for her favorite Southern Spin Cobb Salad at Backwoods Crossing where we are waited on at table and eat with utensils and bowls that are reusable and go through the dishwasher rather than into the landfill. I have even rationalized a steak salad for myself a few times because the amount of steak was similar to what I would get with a steak and baked potato meal and the salad meant I was eating healthier. Those too were enjoyed at a restaurant where we were waited on and ate with utensils and bowls that go through the dishwasher and not the landfill. I think I paid $17 for those. Maybe somebody was having a bad day but "methinks thou doth protest too much."

There was a standard menu given to us along with specials for the evening. Also notes were wine specials and a decent wine list. Two in our party enjoyed a Pinot Grigio and a Sauvignon Blanc and exclaimed good quality. For starters we got fresh bread that was accompanied by seasoned olive oil and an herbed butter. We also had the flash fried artichokes; recommended these 100%. There were little strips of red bell peppers mixed in and note, when I say "flash fried" I'm talking a lite dusting of a flour batter and super lite fry...no grease. Dinner entrees consisted of the birthday boy ordering the filet, au gratin potato and asparagus. Three of us had the flounder that had tomato confit, artichoke, hearts palm, olives and mandarin oranges. The filet was cooked perfect and extremely tender with the sides paired perfectly. The flounder was exceptional and no plate was left with a morsel to be seen! The dessert menu was hard to choose from but we settled on brownie with sauce and vanilla ice cream and the raspberry cheesecake. Add in a couple of after dinner coffees/espresso the meal was perfect. This restaurant is small but not elbow small. A few tables outside for nice weather occasions and a small bar to seat 3-4 people. Aiden was our server and he did an awesome job; efficient, attentive without being overly hovering with a great sense of humor. We will be back!
