Panera Bread saved the day. After a long wait at The Yard and with three hungry young nieces in tow - we knew we needed some food quick. I spied Panera Bread and popped in. Though they were working on a number of orders - the staff assured me that they would be able to process our order promptly. We put in our order and sat down. Literally in a matter of 10 minutes our grilled cheese and tomato soup orders, as well as our order for a turkey and cheese sandwich - were ready. The food items were pretty basic looking - but my nieces seemed to enjoy them and we were relieved that they were no longer hungry. The staff seemed like they were ready to end their night - but they truly saved the evening with their quick food preparation. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat at this Panera location. I've encountered more pleasant Panera locations in the past. That being said - if you need a quick simple bite and/or need a low-key spot to study and eat - where you won't feel rushed - this Panera will work. Trust. read more

I like frequenting this Panera Bread.. My family and I believe their food is of high quality and the menu has good variety in each area. This bakery cafe is well managed by people who seem very good and responsible in ways that would be hoped for. The intake people have regularly, if not always, been very accommodating and the food prep people and managers are polite and responsive, I have found. I certainly recommend this place for casual dining and even hanging out a bit, or doing a bit of reading and writing or other activities. Panera Bread is a chain fast casual restaurant with either take out or sit down dining. With it being in the Galleria there is right outside a lot of seats if you prefer to eat inside but not out in the open. They have a private dining area that can be rented for various occasions. All Panera's are basically the same. You can either do mobile ordering, order from a device when you enter or walk up to the counter. I usually do the latter. I have a Panera card that gives me rewards here and there. Their prices have gone up but along with inflation I am not surprised. I normally get the 2 pick two combo which gives you a choice of a soup and salad, a soup and half sandwich. or half salad and half sandwich. My favorite soup here is Autumn Squash. It's creamy, rich, and sweet but not overbearing. My go to salad is the Fuji Apple chicken salad. Entrees come with a choice of a French baguette, apple, or chips. WiFi is available for the working. You can also get a dessert for $.99 if you order a meal-believe me they do look tempting! They sell bagels and other breakfast items as well. The young woman ahead of me in line brought her cup wants to debate the need for a young man to sell the soda fountain cup to her. he should let her make a deal. She takes the cup I place my food selection soon, and they call out my name but not before I have a diet drink and enjoy some people's sightseeing. They got me to eat in but I told her I was on the go this cute young woman with a great smile bagged the food purchase up and I was on the way. I went here recently and enjoyed the delicious food. The customer service was friendly. Everyone was wearing masks and gloves and following covid-19 guidelines. They offer a cup or bowl of soup. I ordered a bowl as it was all I was having for lunch. The bowl was half empty and the friend I was with got a cup and it was full. I was charged for a bowl and got less then a cup of underwhelming soup. Your handed a cheap plastic spoon to eat with. When you pay, you are asked how much of a tip you want to add to the check. I always tip 20% to 25% for service, but what service are they providing? You order at the register, pick up you food at the counter, and clean up your table when you leave. McDonalds brings you food to the table, sad Panera Bread provides less service then McDonalds and asks for a tip. I'm certainly not eating at Panera again. read more

However, after just waiting in a 15 minute line on a Saturday morning, I learn that the bagel toaster is broken. At Panera. And they only have one... The asst. manager rang me up and after I asked if they had any other way to toast a bagel ("no"), I told her I was so disappointed. She just stared at me, no "sorry," no "I know, but it just broke," nothing. I later found out from another Panera associate that they have THREE toasters at this location... Guess she just didn't feel like using the other ones. Then, during a lunch visit, they ran out of a popular soup. Okay, stuff happens, but here was no apology, no nothing, and I realized it was the SAME asst. manager from the toaster incident. She looked anxious and overwhelmed by a normal little lunch rush. She literally clapped her arms in the air and said to her two coworkers "you all are making me crazy, all up in my face...I might just have to walk off...". And this is their leader? It's been a while since I wrote a Panera review! Anyone who knows me knows I tend to frequent this chain. I love me a sandwich with a cup of soup, so Panera and I tend to get along just fine. This location is no exception. It's had its ups and downs service wise, but for the most part people here are on-point and do a great job keeping up with the foot traffic that comes from being located in a mall. And my meals here have always been excellent, and exactly what I expect from a Panera. No fussing here - my love of Panera continues and I'll be back here for sure! read more

Panera continues to go downhill. Why I continue to order from them, only to then be disappointed, is beyond me. Their soups used to be amazing and sandwiches full of fresh ingredients. Now both are meager attempts of what they once were...at a higher cost. Our orders are wrong 9 out of 10 times and today, we actually had raw eggs and uncooked bacon on our breakfast sandwiches. The service here is consistently disappointing. The coffee is always out, the soft drink machine is out of drinks all the time, the bathrooms are never cleaned and the toilets are always gross. Every other Panera keeps cups at the kiosk except this one. If they have to keep them at the register because people are abusing the system, thats understandable but they are keeping them behind the pick up counter so you have to wait till people are in between making food to hand you your coffee cup. It's not a good system and this morning there were about 5 people waiting because this backs things up. read more

Then a older manager asked me what I was waiting for..I said almond milk and it took another 7 minutes to come out and bring it. Total experience a total 0 ... the manager is non- existant nowhere to be found at least to deal with the staff. BAD service cold coffee and pretty much a joke of a coffee place. This chain is so horrible with gluten free items and their process in finding out what is and isn't gluten free. I really wish they'd get with the times and realize that 30% of American's are eating GF and it's high time you at least made it easier and efficient. Don't event get me started on other allergies or vegan/vegetarian items. It's crazy nothing is marked here. I am well aware with the word Bread in their name that you might think they have an excuse, but if I can eat almost anywhere, even Italian restaurants, with no issue, I think it's high time to update things. Plus, I'm not asking for a variation on everything, and I realize if you're celiac (like me) you risk cross contamination, but I know that. Here are my strong opinions. Get a printed out menu that has information about all food allergies and sensitivities that you have readily available at the counter. Or better yet, just have a little GF, V or other notations on the menu printed above the cash register. That's not hard and barely would cost you anything for an extra letter on the menu board! I was so embarrassed Saturday when there's a long time and the cashier had to get the manager who had to get this at least 500 page binder out and dust it off to flip through all 500 pages to say "I think xyz is gluten free." She said one item, the apple salad was gluten free. I was so confused by that point, I didn't question any other items and just got it. It was mediocre by the way. But supposedly none of the other 5 salads were gluten free???? That's ridiculous. Why not cater to a wider audience and simply ensure at least the salads are GF. It's as simple as offering a different dressing. I hope someone at corporate wises up. I think I'm done with them for now though. It's not worth the hassle or embarrassment. read more

I've disliked Panera for some time now. I've always felt like it's expensive, considering the amount and quality of food you get. Not to mention you have to buss your own table. But my daughter loves their chicken noodle soup, so I deal with it. But tonight was the last straw. We went there for dinner. They were out of bread bowls. They were out of baguettes!? This is one of the more efficient Panera locations that I've patronized. The location can make for great people-watching too if you snag a table near the mall entrance. A while back, I wrote a review on a different location, lamenting the "grilled cheese" I received and my sheer disappointment in their ability to screw up something so simple (bread, butter, cheese. How hard can it be?)... the reason I bring this up is because on my most recent visit to this location inside Mt. Lebanon's Galleria, I thought I'd finally give the grilled cheese another chance. I'm a forgiving, cheese-loving person... what can I say? Sadly, it was more of the same. I'm not sure how Panera gets away with calling it a Four Cheese Grilled Cheese, considering I was barely able to discern even a half slice of cheese, but I digress. The broccoli cheddar soup that rounded out my Pick Two was tasty as usual and made up for the formaggio fail. I was also pleasantly surprised on this visit to see that the water cups they hand out now are a much more acceptable size... no more itty bitty Dixie cups, yay! read more

I am so hesitant to leave a review that is anything less than fantastic of a place where people are coming to work each day to serve others during this pandemic. And honestly, because of that, this is a three-star review where it probably would have otherwise been two. I signed up for Panera's free coffee program this summer, and I'm probably exactly the person they want to sign up for this because I don't feel right getting only a free coffee and always order something when I take advantage of this offer. Today I placed a mobile order for an iced coffee and a bagel with cream cheese. Pretty easy, standard order. I arrived at the time it said my order would be ready and my name was not yet showing on the board as being either prepared or ready. No orders were sitting in the rapid pickup area and virtually everyone waiting for a rapid pickup had to ask about the status of their order, kind of negating the point of having this contact-free option during this time. I waited probably 15 to 20 minutes past the time my order should have been ready, and finally received it when I inquired about it. The staff seemed flustered and like they are doing the best job they possibly can. Perhaps they are understaffed right now? My order itself was fine, although it would be nice if the mobile app allowed you to indicate preparation options like having the staff add cream and sugar to your coffee and put the cream cheese on your bagel. read more

In the past, I have loved dining at Panera Bread, however today, I was unpleasantly surprised when I received my order. Through DoorDash, I ordered the Modern Greek with Quinoa Salad, a personal favorite of mine. When the salad arrived, I was both shocked and appalled to find my bag of chips and salad, but no baguette. What is worse is that my salad was not even blessed with the sweet, heavenly fruit some call quinoa. As Satan once said in Milton's Paradise Lost, "The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven." I have been to this Panera quite a few times. The food is just the same as other Panera's, however the staff (most of the time) and location is better then others. They ask you if you would like to tip on the keypad now. I don't mind tipping the dollar since they bring the food to you. I also ask for extra sauce over the counter sometimes and they never hesitate to "fork" it over. The three stars is not because of the food or service. It is not because of the cleanliness in the dining area. The three stars is for the bathroom cleanliness and me witnessing something that just appalled me. A couple visits ago, a staff member told another staff member that something was wrong on the menu up on the wall. The staff member then got up on the counter and stood on it to fix whatever was wrong. The staff member then proceeded to carry on with their work, however didn't even sanitize the counter they just put their dirty shoes on. They should NOT be climbing and standing on the counter spaces to do anything! Very disgusting. Also dangerous. I'm sure OSHA would not approve. The three stars, to me, is being generous, simply because the staff is generally very nice and helpful and the dining area is well kept. read more

I can't say enough about the way the management at this location handled an issue we had. Other business owners should take notes. I ordered rapid pick up this morning because a family member is in the hospital so we were taking lunch for everyone. When my sister went to pick up, the order wasn't ready. After waiting for half an hour, my sister told the manager she had to go because we had to be at Presby. Not only did the manager offer to have someone deliver the order all the way to the hospital, but also refunded us for the entire $90 order AND added in extra cookies to our order. The food was all good and well packaged but the service response earned them 5 stars. Thank you to management for having a heart and handling this how you did. read more

This location has gone completely downhill. My kids do semi frequent mobile orders and out of the last 10 orders, 9 were wrong and had to be taken back to be corrected. I'm at this Panera once or twice a week and sometimes more. They keep it clean, the employees are nice, but the quality of the food is never consistent. Even the portion sizes are inconsistent. Sometimes you order a bowl of soup and it comes out like a cup. Sometimes salads fill the bowl and sometimes you get half a bowl. I am not a fan of their broth bowls but their Mac n cheese is delicious. It's nice that you get a choice of side-chips, Apple, or roll. I don't know how you can leave without a bakery item. Yum! The "presses" are MICROWAVES. They are not training their employees to know this and they are not making it public. I had an employee actually argue about it with me this morning because I wanted them to toast my bagel and assemble the egg and cheese without nuking it. I got to my car and they had forgotten the cheese. I went back and the cook told me that the counter person didn't know if I wanted it! I'm a big fan of Panera Bread in general. While I don't think it's all that healthy (even though it's mostly salads and sandwiches, the calories definitely add up. I'm not a big green tea fan, but for some reason Panera's Green Tea is SOO incredibly delicious. They even offer refills here (other panera locations don't. believe me, I've asked). I love the strawberry/poppyseed salad but it's a seasonal item. There's also a nice selection of food for the little ones, although you're dropping almost $6 on a PB&J or Mac N Cheese. This Panera location is much nicer than Bethel Park except no employee's are in charge of cleaning the dining room area... tables are dirty unwiped, the floors have trash and food on them. It should be gooey the cheese is like plastic to the bread! I kept hearing my name they basically forgot my order then half sat on counter waiting for the mac-n-cheese that out of 4 people making food they all thought the other was doing it!
