Bowl of chicken noodle soup and half of a Cuban.
    David C.

This place it terrible. I order a Bowl of chicken noodle soup and I get half bowl. I order a half Cuban with no pickles and it comes loaded with 5 large pickles. All of this wonderful ( if you could see me I'm doing finger quotes very sarcastically) food for the outrageous price of $15. I would have asked for a refund but it appears this place is also a playground for employees on the clock and off the clock. As I'm sitting at my table the kitchen crew is playing around having a great time. They are even drinking Chick fil a milk shakes from a several kids that walked in. One employee is on her phone and just cussing away. This place seems more like a high school lunch room than a restaurant! This was my first time here and it will be my last. If you are in Morganton, NC stay clear of this horrible place and go some where else. Not for sure who the owner is but he is going to loose his shirt if he does do some quality control in this place.

Food on the floor in majority of seating areas.. not exaggerating.

Consistently filthy when they open.. management has absolutely zero regard for the presentation and cleanliness of the created space available to their customers. This Panera Bread is like this in the mornings when they open their dirty doors. Lost of appetite and curious of their house keeping behind the counter in regard to the food. I counted 9 flies in the window.

This is $5. Are you kidding???? This is a joke of a sandwich. I should have gone to Subway.

Overpriced rip-off. The tuna salad was maybe an ounce of mayo tuna and the Greek salad had absolutely no flavor. $12 wasted.

Sorry excuse for hard boiled egg.

I go here fairly regularly but usually dine in. If I had this time I would have said something but since I did rapid pickup through the app, I did not see the issue until I got back to my office. I had never checked the reviews for this location but oh my are they accurate. I don't know what it will take to correct the problems but Panera corporate should send somebody to whip this place in shape. I ordered a half cobb salad with chicken. There was absolutely no chicken, the bacon looked old and the half hard boiled egg was rubber, like it had been previously frozen. I could not even eat it. And this cost something like $7.50. Absolutely disgusting. How can the employees look at that and think it's edible? The only consistent thing here is the soup. I'll stick to other lunch places from now on until I've heard they have made improvements.

There were definitely still a few "new restaurant" issues, with the self-serve kiosks out the day I visited, however the staff behind the counter were super friendly! I just got iced tea, but it tasted freshly brewed so I was pretty satisfied. Additionally, the treats in the pastry case all looked great and the interiors/outdoor seating areas were clean and bright. P.S. This location has a drive through!

As a vegetarian I am highly impressed by the different options and creative spins on the classic sandwich/wrap! Today my wait was a bit long but that first bite made the wait completely worth it. I'm not saying that lightly either, I truly mean it. Each sandwich is hand crafted with care, each recipe has been developed with perfection in mind, and each bite is full of amazing flavor. It's clear someone with a lot of passion and respect for food is running this place! Limbertwig Cafe is a little hidden gem in downtown Morganton and I wish every town had one!

There is local artwork displayed on the walls as you enter. You place your order directly at the counter, take a number, and your food is brought out to your table when it is ready. The menu is quite large, and it took a bit of time to decide on my order, but I ultimately went with a combo including a half ham wrap, a drink, and a side of pasta salad. The cashier was very good about openly telling everyone in line about price differences from the printed menu before ordering. Because the kitchen was experiencing a significant delay, it seemed like they quietly upgraded me to a whole wrap as a nice peace offering! It came cut into two parts, with one part wrapped neatly in foil. Personally, I really wish they offered a "build your own" option where you could just choose your own specific bread, meat, cheese, and toppings, rather than having to hunt through the large preset menu options to find a combination where you like everything. I was really surprised by how incredibly small the side portion of pasta salad was--about the size of a standard salad dressing container! I've honestly never seen a side dish served that small before, so I posted a photo of the two side by side to show the exact comparison. Next time, I would skip the combo entirely and just order the sandwich on its own. The ham wrap itself was really good, and the small bite of pasta salad was very tasty. However, it did take quite a bit longer than it should have for the food to leave the kitchen, so this slow wait time could definitely be an issue for someone on a tight lunch schedule.

A great selection of proteins on the steam table and a nice variety of the classic breakfast offerings. A big plate of scrambled eggs and I was able to add cheese sauce and mushrooms on one side of my plate. On the other, some sausage links (very overdone) and some sliced ham (extremely salty). Lots of other high carb options available including biscuits, pancakes, French toast sticks, cheese and plain grits, home fries and tots. Something that might have been fried chicken livers and also some pieces of fried chicken. A dessert bar with banana pudding, jellos and fruits was also available. The place is clean and the service was great, clearing dirty dishes and restocking coffee creamer. A satisfying meal for sure. [Review 542 of 2026 - 4637 in North Carolina - 25724 overall]
