This Panera is a joke. The inside is never well kept with trash around the drink station, the chairs and bathroom. The employees are kids who don't want to come to the register to take your order/complain when you ask a question. I love Panera Bread. I recently broke my hip and ordered online so i could pickup at the window and not have to use crutches going in. Apparently, i didnt select the correct option to pickup at the window. They told me the food was ready, but they couldnt pass it thru the window because of theft. I offered my drivers license and the card i used to pay. The clerk said, no - i had to walk in, its the policy. There was no handicapped parking available, so i crutched on in. Since i had a drink and a bag of food, i was going to have to make two trips. Another opportunity for a good customer service person to offer help. NOPE. They were sorry for my troubles. Fortunately, two other DISGUSTED customers nearby, offered to help me out to the car. While i appreciate policy (having managed a huge Cust Facing team before), any smart manager holds compassion over policy.....nobody ever gets fired for that. Very disappointing. read more

This place it terrible. I order a Bowl of chicken noodle soup and I get half bowl. I order a half Cuban with no pickles and it comes loaded with 5 large pickles. All of this wonderful ( if you could see me I'm doing finger quotes very sarcastically) food for the outrageous price of $15. I would have asked for a refund but it appears this place is also a playground for employees on the clock and off the clock. As I'm sitting at my table the kitchen crew is playing around having a great time. They are even drinking Chick fil a milk shakes from a several kids that walked in. One employee is on her phone and just cussing away. This place seems more like a high school lunch room than a restaurant! This was my first time here and it will be my last. If you are in Morganton, NC stay clear of this horrible place and go some where else. Worst Panera ever. We ordered Greek goddess salads they were out of the dressing and most other dressings as well. My husband ordered a full size salad with extra chicken and dressing. He didn't get either! There was a whole hard boiled egg on our salads that must have been froze and thawed as they were not edible. They were also out of 75% of their drink options. Don't spend $30 on 2 salads and a soft drink!!! Oh and the bread was stale and butter toast weird too. Panera was always our go-to while traveling but not anymore. Sad. read more

Love the food here, we have been many times and always had a good experience. Sometimes it seems that it's mostly teenagers that work and that makes things not quite so perfect as far as forgetting to include silverware , but usually those things are minor and quickly corrected. We've never had a bad meal and have probably been 20 times. read more

I go here fairly regularly but usually dine in. If I had this time I would have said something but since I did rapid pickup through the app, I did not see the issue until I got back to my office. I had never checked the reviews for this location but oh my are they accurate. I don't know what it will take to correct the problems but Panera corporate should send somebody to whip this place in shape. I ordered a half cobb salad with chicken. There was absolutely no chicken, the bacon looked old and the half hard boiled egg was rubber, like it had been previously frozen. I could not even eat it. And this cost something like $7.50. Absolutely disgusting. How can the employees look at that and think it's edible? The only consistent thing here is the soup. I'll stick to other lunch places from now on until I've heard they have made improvements. read more

Panera has always been about freshness and wholesome food along with great service. This location has lost all of that. They make you use the kiosk while three employees sit in the back and talk or are on their phone. We payed , at the kiosk for items that they later told us were out. Get it ... after you pay. All the drink dispensers were low to out. Some of the toppings on our salads were south of fresh and we decided to not eat the hard boiled eggs as we didn't want to get sick. Really, they were rotten. Don't let me start about the stores cleanliness, sticky floors and a filthy restroom. Wow how this place has fallen. read more

There were definitely still a few "new restaurant" issues, with the self-serve kiosks out the day I visited, however the staff behind the counter were super friendly! I just got iced tea, but it tasted freshly brewed so I was pretty satisfied. Worst Panera I have ever ate at. Terrible service and horrible food. I have been here several times trying to support it and give it a chance hoping it will improve. Today we spent $30 and so many things were wrong with our food that it was ridiculous. Stems of Lettuce head in my salad, no chicken on the chicken sandwich. Long time Panera fan here, but this location is absolutely terrible. No customer service at all. I've been a handful of times and they have screwed up each and every time. Most recently I ordered a large Mac and cheese and a half Fuji Apple chicken salad. The Mac and cheese (which is almost $10!) was only half full. The salad was terrible. No dried apple slices, just dried apple crumbs like I got the last of the bag. My lettuce was wilted and sad looking. The onions were slimy. I thought I was done with this place the last time I went and they messed up my order (two orders of Mac and cheese, they gave me Mac and cheese sandwiches instead and then when I went back, I had to pay the difference for their mistake), but I am seriously done this time. I WILL NEVER GO AGAIN! The owner needs to take a hard look at this location or they will slowly lose more and more business and eventually close. Moved back to the Morganton area after 18 years and couldn't wait to enjoy Panera Bread again. My fav was always the Portabello on focaccia with French onion soup. That's no longer on the menu so during my recent visit with family, I found something else to try: the toasted steak and white cheddar sandwich with a cup of autumn squash soup. My mom got the kids turkey and cheese (toasted) because she has a reduced appetite. We both got sweet teas to drink. After placing our order, the girl working told us to repeat everything because she was so busy. We were very understanding and felt bad for her because the location is clearly understaffed. The wait time was much longer than expected. When we finally got our food, the tea was terrible (we'd been given unsweetened tea instead of sweet, and it was very bitter), my half sandwich was extremely small in size compared to what Panera used to serve in half sizes, and my mom's bread was not only NOT toasted but also stale. Both our breads were tough and difficult to chew. Overall, our lunch at this Panera location was a waste of money. $23 is severely overpriced for the horrible quality and service. Maybe it's just this particular location but Panera is definitely not what it used to be which is a huge disappointment. Wish I'd read the reviews first. read more

Very disappointing experience at the Morganton Panera. Ordered two of the warm grain bowls. One of the bowls was less than half full and both had only a couple small pieces of chicken. I normally love Panera but I have been to this location twice and will not visit again. I also contacted Panera directly and did not receive a response. I waited on a chipotle chicken avocado melt for 20 minutes. Got to Panera at 8:30pm and did not pull out of the parking lot until 8:50. There were four guys goofing off inside. All of them had there masks pulled down, exposing their mouth and nose. I was very disappointed in the service. The place is ran by high schoolers. This is not a corporate run Panera. I have been to corporate Panera and it is a world of difference than what Covelli Enterprises offers. I mean the equipment is to standard. The staff is sweet but they have not been properly trained. For the prices being charged. I would like to demand a better experience worthy of the Panera brand. My visit consisted of- Ordered a bagel, received a bag containing napkins, knife and cream cheese-no bagel. Went around to the drive thru again to ask for the bagel and I get it, stuff happens, but don't accuse me of already getting the product. At another Covelli location, ordered ice coffee. I received a drink filled with coffee grinds. Went inside to alert them and she said ok. I had to ask for a replacement only to be met with an eyeroll and annoyed body language. Once again, $3.00+ should get me a no problem please wait while I check the dispenser... that store did not have a sweet staff. Overall disappointed in the whole franchise. read more

This review is for the MORGANTON, NC Panera. I've been in here before and they are slow; slow to work the cash register and slow to make the food. So I thought I would "call ahead" and order since I'm in a hurry. Also it's Friday. But when I got there after a 15 minute drive, they took my money quick enough but didn't give me my bag of food. Why not? Because they hadn't even started the order. Seriously. One person in the restaurant eating, zero people in line, and four people behind the counter chatting away with each other. I won't go into why I was in such a hurry, which became a moot point since I had to wait, but this total lack of service really ticked me off. The manager apologized and gave me some free coupons which I probably won't use since I won't be going back to that Panera. I should have read the reviews before I went. Maybe I'll save you the trouble. Go to the Hickory Panera, the older one on 27 which is and has always been run well, not the newer one on 70 which isn't much better than this new one in Morganton. We were passing through the area and decided Panera would be a good place to stop to get dinner for my family. Placed our order and my wife and daughter usually split a warm grain bowl from our local Panera and I usually get the Southwest Tortilla soup. I got the order to go and we got about 15 minutes down the road and opened the bag to start handing things to kids. My wife opened her warm grain bowl and it was about half as much as we normally get from our local and other Paneras we normally visit. Then, we discovered they left my soup completely out. I wasn't about to make a 30 minute round trip detour back for soup. I called back to let them know they left it out and could they credit my card back for the amount. He said they could not because he couldn't prove that they did not leave it out unless I came back (even though the guy that answered the phone admitted he forgot to put it in) and if I wanted to come back in another time he would give me a free soup. We don't come through that area but maybe once a year. He was dead set he wasn't crediting my card. Overall, a horrible experience. Businesses like this need to fail and businesses that do it the right way need to flourish. read more
