How I heard of this place: When I traveled to Chicago about two decades ago, conference attendees suggested Panera as a good lunch spot. They weren't wrong. Their broccoli cheddar soup became a quick favorite! This visit included a meager gift card, so was a short visit. Type of cuisine: "Good food served in warm, welcoming spaces by people who care can bring out the best in all of us. That's been our belief since opening our first cafe in St. Louis in 1987. While our company has grown, our values, purpose and core beliefs remain as strong as ever, as does our commitment to our mission. With thousands of company-owned and franchised locations across the U.S. and in Canada and over a hundred thousand associates across our system, we embrace the opportunity to spread generosity to our communities, the planet and you." From my experience, it's a typical lunch space with sandwiches, pastries and salads, along with beverages - hot and cold - to satisfy. Ambiance: Large and cozy, warm yet corporate. The space is clean and the staff and set-up efficient. Order at the counter upon entering (with plenty of space to the door to offer ease in lining up), then take your food to one of plenty booth seating and table/chair set-ups throughout the dining area. No frills, yet clean and organized. What I ordered: A large M'n'M topped cookie. What I loved: Efficiency and ease of ordering. Why I loved it: The cookie left a big smile on the face of my little one. Cost: Average ($3 per cookie)

    Toasted Italiano as advertised.

We used to like this place for sandwiches. The new menu item Toasted Italiano was great. Now, they've gotten cheap. No veges, ok there were onions. And they used this roll type bun that breaks in 2 but the inside is not cut so it was not easy to eat, with the contents spilling out. The bread is not the same as the baguette style. They just lost 2 regulars.

Gone downhill... how sad. Soup was bad today too. It used to be a favorite of ours but not anymore.

Boring cheese sandwich with nothing but boring American cheese

Holy moly, $40 for 2 tomato soups and 2 grilled cheese. I can make this at home bro, it's bread and cheese and butter and tomato soup. How can you possibly justify charging $40??!?!?! AND IT'S JUST AMERICAN CHEESE! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??? I COULD MAKE THIS BETTER!!!

They never cooked my grain bowl it was hard and cold and I got it fresh I live so close

I like the family breakfast for the morning. It's a great deal. And you can choose what you like to your breakfast.

She asked how she could make things right I asked for a refund it was $42 for bistek and "Cuban " sandwich was left on read. I hate having to do this but save your money life is too expensive nowadays.

It was curious to me why despite paying online for two cubanos with tax & tip, there's an additional service charge. There is also an automatic 8 cents bag charge, despite that I brought my own bag. My focus has always to support local indie businesses whenever possible. I appreciated the time and transparency given with regards to my service charge inquiry. My original online order was cancelled and charged directly instead. This removed the added service fee and the business retained more of the final transaction. Pro tips: *Look at their website to decide what menu items you're interested in. *Avoid food apps which inflate costs and not much return back to El Cubano. *Call El Cubano directly to place your takeout order. 206-629-4443

EGG ROLLS: They're freshly fried and packed with filling. No fuss. My mom loves these. Even the sweet sauce is super tasty and not too thick. SPRING ROLLS: Fresh, with tons of veggies, unlike other places that load them with noodles. The rice paper is really fresh and thin. The shrimp are big and juicy. BANH MI: We've tried every single one. We love that there are plenty of veggies and fillings, and the bread is always super fresh. Did not feel welcome with her presence and it was awkward placing an order. I had the grilled pork bahn mi. It was overall good, flavorful, bun toasted well and did not ruin your mouth , fresh pickled veggies and had great portion for the price of $7.95. The fried egg rolls were not my jam however. The filling was different than I'm used to. It was meaty or filled enough, but was just different. My friend and I sat outside since it was a sunny day. Wait time was appropriate for quick food. My friend got her vermicelli bowl first, then my bahn mi and eventually the egg rolls. Since we sat outside, we had to go back in for our food when it was ready. We did not hear the lady call out for the egg rolls, so she came out and brought it out BUT with a rude comment: "I kept calling you inside, so I brought it out for you". Pretty unnecessary comment and we legit did not hear her call us. We were also the ONLY customers there too. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back with the service alone.
