I have to admit I only ordered because they had a $2 off coupon from a whole sandwich in my account. They got me LOL. I don't like I have never had a whole sandwich from Panera and if I have it hasn't been recently to where I remember. Since I wasn't feeling well I didn't want something to elaborate and I just wanted a regular sandwich so I decided not to go with the cranberry walnut chicken salad but just the regular turkey and cheddar. I always choose the black pepper focaccia for my bread and added extra veggies. Something else I love about ordering with panera. You can really create your own custom sandwich based upon breads and veggies you like. I ordered on the app for pickup and waited until it was ready. This location is in the 1 Mile West Shopping Center that has tons of other businesses as well. I went in to grab my order and was greeted by the cashier and quickly informed them I have placed to go order. I seen it on the bottom shelf grabbed it and left out. I am a Panera fan, I love their soups and sandwiches . I order as always the French Onion soup . It is delicous the best I have ever had . You can get it is a bread bowl or soup bowl .in addition to the soup they give you fresh croutons and have the cheese melted over the top .so good . Then one of their great danishes . I visited Panera Bread and the food was pretty good, but the location could really improve when it comes to cleanliness. There was a stack of dishes sitting near the trash can in the front area of the restaurant, and a few tables had salt and crumbs left on them. I understand that places get busy, but someone on the staff should periodically check the tables and the dish area near the trash cans to keep things clean for customers. Another suggestion would be to make sure there are paper towels available in the men's restroom. Men appreciate clean and well-stocked bathrooms too. I lived in the Catonsville area for about 16 years, so I was a bit surprised to see the place not being maintained the way it used to be. The current manager there is a very nice guy and seems willing to help customers. I also remember a previous manager who wore glasses and he did a great job. At one point he even helped us write a letter to the corporate office in Columbia, Maryland for a charity event. That's why it was disappointing to notice some of the unsanitary conditions during this visit. The food itself is good, but the location would benefit from paying closer attention to cleanliness and upkeep. This is a wonderful place to eat--if you have a few unusual preferences: 1) You order a cheese sandwich but don't really want cheese. Perfect, because between the two thick, white slices of bread you will struggle to find much but more bread. It's almost like Panera slapped down one slice of American cheese, cut it in half, then trimmed the edges off. 2) Your friend orders broccoli cheddar but really has in mind a bowl of broth with vegetables and rice that neither of you can relate to anything on the menu. Panera will present to your friend their unspoken 'preference.' Boc-boc, no chicken even? Broc broc, no broccoli and cheese? Woo-hoo! 3) You order a cup of chili and could almost sip it with a straw. Not flavored too badly, but mostly beans and thin tomato-based broth. "Where's the beef?" you chortle with delight as you drink it on down. Boo, Panera! You can do better! read more

The scone itself wasn't dry or crumbly, but there was enough moistness to it with a nice orange glaze. Perfect treat with a hot beverage! The staff here was super friendly, welcoming, and very sweet. They also made the lines move along quickly. I also noticed that the space was maintained very well, where the tables and the chairs were wiped down often and was very clean. I've been craving Panera for a while after it closed down in Columbia Mall so I was stoked to see that one opened on route 40! People describe the food as glorified hospital food, but somehow they make it good. The Panera has every warm toned and always smells like muffins. I don't know how but even though they sell many other types of food, the only thing you smell when you come in are the muffins. Another notable thing was the staff. The staff was friendly and was very energetic! My friend and I ordered the mac and cheese, french onion soup, and a spicy chicken sandwich. The french onion soup was soooo good. It was sweet and then salty and the croutons adds a good crunch. The only downfall was that the soup was at a weird temperature. It was in a mix between warm and room temp. The chicken sandwich was great too! the flavors went together very nicely. It was so good, we were about to go back and get another sandwich. The only downside was the mac and cheese. The mac and cheese came out warm on top but cold on the bottom. The noodles were kind of separated from the cheese so it was like eating a noodles and cheese rather than mac and cheese. But otherwise, I ate it up. Overall, I still really like this place, but maybe next time, I'll ask to heat up the mac and cheese and the soup a little more. read more

Had a nice lunch here. They have their lobster special in a roll or Mac and cheese. I got their pick 2 with lobster Mac and cheese with a strawberry poppy seed salad. I like how they give you a good amount of lobster on the Mac and cheese a that seasonal salad is fresh, sweet and delicious too. COVID19 visit. Came to get lunch after a long morning of errands. Select tables are available for seating (see the picture below). No physical menus are avail, only the big menu behind the register. Bibby was my cashier and he was SUPER NICE!!! I even left my glasses at home so I couldn't read the menu so he helped me out on a few things that were blurry :) If you need to refill your drink, you must get a new cup to do so. A few tables that were open for seating were dirty but I asked a crew member to clean one off for me and she was really nice to do so, and then even cleaned off all of the other tables. I opted for the You-Pick-2 Grilled cheese and baja mac n cheese. Both were okay. Grilled cheese had more bread than a bit of cheese. The recipe for the baja mac and cheese changed, its more of a pesto sauce then macaroni sauce. They have curbside pick up and alot of patrons utilized that. read more

This restaurant is on Rt. 40 in the Ellicott City/Catonsville corridor. It had been years since we visited a Panera and remember it as a slightly pretentious and a bit overpriced place where they bring your food to your table and sandwiches that served as a light lunch with sufficient protein, lettuce, tomato, etc. This experience was different. We had mac in a bread bowl (child), small cheese steak, and small tuna sandwich w/ one coffee. In this restaurant, you order and then stand at a window with others, waiting for your name to be called. The sandwiches were indeed small, about three inches in length with tiny portions of protein and garnish-sized lettuce & tomato (tuna) and red pepper (steak). I use the one near the airport as it has a drive through and very convenient for me. I usually buy a loaf of their bread to have at home and then of course I have to buy something to eat while in the parking lot. I've been there many times with my wife because my wife like their soup. Today my wife and I got terrible customer service because they don't sale soup to color people but only white customers. The cashier said soups are ready by 11 and we were in 10:30. So no option to get the soup we just gave up. But one of customer start arguing with them because for discrimination. And we saw the white customers still getting their soups but only color people didn't get. It was one of most terrible experience of discrimination by skin color in my life I thought. The owner or manager must explain about why your workers didn't sell soup to the any color people but white only. If the soup is not enough to serve then how the white customers got soup behind us? I wonder most workers are not white but they got something wrong attitude to the color people. Why did they do that to same color people? So So Lunch Visit There was a line of at least 10 people ahead of me upon arrival but it moved faster than imagined. The young lady/ cashier (Kortni) assisted me w my order and purchase of a few gc's. It was a smooth transaction but I was highly annoyed by her coworker who came to sit to the right of the register where I was ordering, complaining about the line she refused to stand in because it's too long. I venture to the end of the counter to wait for my food while watching at least 12 trays of other food get put up and leave and then Mikel calls #102... holding a bag. I informed Mikel that I would like a tray. She repeated what I said as if it was a difficult request. I responded again "yes, I would like my food on a tray... like everyone else & I never requested my order to go". After waiting another 90 seconds of everyone getting their food, I hear "Miss, that's yours right there" ... le sigh. Clearly that was Kortni's fault w the to go order and she indicated it on my receipt but I felt Mikel could have handled it better. Nevertheless, my salad was pretty good as expected and the rest of my visit went fine. I am a frequent visitor of panera bread Mainly for their soups and today is the first time I am at this location. Inside is very clean and the employees were very friendly and polite. I noticed a new summer item (summer corn chowder) and I new I had to try it. Compared to the regular clam chowder it holds it's own and I would recommend. It was freshly made and the taste was superb. I also decided to try a bear claw for the first time. First though is "very good" similar to eating a croissant with icing on top. I am here on a Friday at 9am and it's not crowded or loud which is what I always like. Can't wait to come again read more

I am a Panera lover. It is a great place to get soups, salads, sandwiches, pastries and bagels!! It's not exactly cheap but it's not super pricey either. I've been coming to this location for many years. There is plenty of seating around but I usually get my food to go. The service here is not too great but better than a lot of other Paneras that I have been to. stopped in from out of town to grab food after a funeral 12/16 @12pm. they had the 6ft markers on the floor at the cash registers. it seemed as if all food was packaged to go, even if you wanted to eat in so they did not have to worry about covid / sanitizing issues with plates bowls utensils etc. i got broccoli cheddar soup and chicken apple fuji salad with a baguette. all was wonderful ! fluffy big piece of baguette. while eating, a male "karen" got in a hizzy at the drink station and he called to an employee to ask in a rude manor why there wasn't hand sanitizer out and available for customers. the employee directed the karen to the front door stating it was there for guests to use upon entry. the karen was mad at this because hes dumb and didn't realize it and i guess hasn't realized it's the responsible thing to do to have your own sanitizer on you at all times. read more

Good sandwiches and onion soup. We had take-out with curbside service, about 7 pm on a Friday. I paid for upgraded sides--a salad and a fruit cup. When I got home, no fruit cup. So check your bag before leaving. I also ordered a loaf of tomato basil bread. Not sure just what I received. The loaf has no distinct basil flavor and a definite cinnamon crunch top. My wife and I went for a late breakfast/early lunch. Neither of us have been there in a while. I ordered an old regular order, "Asiago Bagel with Veggie Cream Cheese and Bacon" and threw in some Broccoli Cheddar Mac & Cheese. For starters, they didn't have Veggie and I had to get Chive and Onion. She ordered some kind salad and a Broccoli & Cheddar soup. When we got our food, much to my surprise, my sandwich came in pieces and I literally had to make my own freakin sandwich!!!!! I had a toasted bagel, a to-go container of cream cheese, and bacon on a little cup. They didn't even give me a plate or tray to do it on. WHAT THE ACTUAL ... ??? I had to sit there and put together my own sandwich!?!? If I ordered a ham and cheese on wheat toast, would they give me two slices of toast, a little thing of ham, a couple slices of cheese, and some packets of mustard and mayonnaise?? All separated so that I have to sit down and put it all together myself???? WHAT THE ACTUAL ... ??? My wifes salad was small and unfilling. The soup was good. The mac and cheese seemed like they just mixed some soup and Mac and cheese together, so it was really "soupy." With two drinks, this whole miserable meal, with a sandwich that I had to put together myself, was just over $25!!!! Rapid orders pick up was very busy today and the staff seems to be managing well. There is a curbside and someone will bring the food to the cars, which is a plus. There are about five tables outside for outdoor dining. The outdoor area is not as large as the Columbia location but more patio sitting was added during the pandemic. We ordered two separate salads and both were delicious. I had the Thai salad while my friend had the customized asian salad without chicken, and custom vegs as she is a vegetarian. The coffee was good. The almond bear claw was not as good as it used to be, slightly on the dry side and not as moist. read more

Visited the Panera Bread location on Route 40 in Catonsville today. I had a coupon on Panera's phone app for a free entree for my birthday which is the reason why I visited today. I used to go to Panera often when I lived in Pennsylvania. The food was always delicious and the service was always great. I was expecting the same today on my first visit to this location. The gentleman that waited on me was friendly and helpful. I ordered an Italian sandwich with chips to go. The same gentleman that took my order was now in the kitchen. He made my sandwich. When I got home and opened it, I saw that it basically looked like an Italian hoagie. OK fine. Then when I bit into it, I was like what is this? The bread was very tough. There was something on the sandwich that tasted like tuna or fish. I took the sandwich apart and there was no tuna. I then looked on the Panera website to see what this stuff was. Apparently it is a spicy garden pepper mix. Well this mix had gone rancid or something. It was very oily and the taste was just weird. Definitely the worst Italian sandwich that I have ever had and the worst Panera food I ever had as well. It was free so I didn't complain. I won't ever go to that Panera to buy food again though. This Panera is very busy. Today it was packed with people. I shop at other businesses in the shopping plaza on Route 40 where this Panera is located and it is a very busy shopping plaza.
