As a former Wall Street and audio/visual technology director for Fortune 500 and 1000 corporations,…read moreI've dealt with a lot of vendors for over 20 years. I can quickly spot great or poor customer service and professionalism. My work was extremely high profile focused on live event production. Very stressful. The staff is sharp, professional and articulate in their communication. I can honestly say I've found "my premier vendor" to service both my personal and professional needs without any worry.

Because of the stellar reviews on Yelp, I brought my computer with a disc problem in to NY Computer…read moreHelp. They told me it would take 5 days to recover my data.. and that they would keep me informed on their progress. As I've had this problem before, this sounded reasonable to me, because it has taken about 5 days in my past experiences. It has now been 30 days. They have not done one thing that they say they are going to do with the exception of a return phone call today. They've told me many times: in fact about 10 times, my data would be ready to be picked up tomorrow or the next day. They also say they'll call with updates. Friday they told me it will be ready Monday, and so I took time off work Tuesday to pick up toward the end of the day. Now they are telling me 3 more days! WHAT?? I have no idea how they got this many 5 star reviews. They have done nothing trustworthy so far in this 30 day experience. At least be honest with people. I know enough about computers and data transfer to know bullsh*t when I hear it. 1 star. Beware.

I'm recommending. If you can't get merchandise you want from Apple make it yourself. The decal came with my iPad I believe. I wanted a iPad screen saver installed for it too. I did keep the Apple decal and found it recently. Haha As for this place, I'd use their service again.

I had a very disappointing experience with iFix NY Midtown regarding my ROG Ally X repair…read more Last Tuesday, they texted me saying they had diagnosed an issue with the left analog stick controller board assembly, which was affecting input and control response. They said the repair would include replacing the left analog stick controller board assembly to restore functionality. The quoted cost was $230 + tax, with an estimated turnaround time of 2-5 business days. After that, I had to call almost every day just to get updates. Then today, I received a different message saying they had received replacement parts, but not the full set. They said they could replace the damaged analog sticks themselves, but were still waiting for the round LED light rings around the sticks. They also said they could return the device with the controllers functional, but the left stick would have no LED light ring. That was concerning because the original diagnosis and quote were for the left analog stick controller board assembly, but the later message described replacing the analog sticks themselves and leaving the LED ring unfinished. For $230 + tax, I do not think a partial or incomplete repair is acceptable. When I went to pick up the device, I had already called and was told it was ready. But when I arrived, I still had to wait around 30 minutes while they reassembled it. That is not "ready for pickup." To be fair, the owner was there and was kind, apologetic, and professional. My issue was not with him. My issue was with the repair technician handling my device. His attitude was horrendous, and the interaction felt careless and unprofessional. The worst part is that after testing my ROG Ally X in-store, the left trigger felt worse than before, and the light around the stick was no longer working. I brought the device in for a specific repair, and I left feeling like it had been returned with new problems. As someone who runs a tech company and understands customer service, I was shocked by how poorly the repair side of this was handled. I had other products I was considering bringing to them, but after this experience, I will not be returning. A kind owner cannot make up for a disorganized, incomplete, and careless repair process.

The technician diagnosed the problem as a defective screen and insinuates that I might have dropped the computer or spilled liquid on it ! The technician was unfamiliar with either device. The photo printer, as connected, smudged badly, which the technician said was the result of using the wrong paper. He managed to get the CD player working by attaching it to my phone charger. I left town for the holiday weekend. Service charge $300+ I returned from the holiday weekend and realized that the technician had taken my business printer off-line. I couldn't get it working and they were unable to resolve the problem over the phone so, on May 28, they sent the technician back to my apartment where he got the printer back on-line. Service charge $200+. I went out to lunch and, when I returned, I found that the printer was again off-line. I called and the issue was resolved by my unplugging the printer, waiting a few minutes, and plugging it back in. The unplugging technique, such as it was, would only last a few hours with the result that almost every time I needed to print or scan, I had to unplug, wait and re-plug. Additionally, the connection between the computer and printer had become very slow. I called again and requested that they send me a different technician who came on June 5. He put my printer back on line, did something that made the photo printer actually work, and was able to get the printer to respond more quickly when printing. Service charge $200+ June 6 the printer was again off-line. I called that morning and was told to "calm down." I'm done with Lincoln Business Machine.

Disclaimer: I'm not here to discredit anyone personally. However, as someone with over 46 years of…read moreexperience serving the community, government agencies, and local city and law enforcement with technology advice, I feel obligated to be honest. Unfortunately, my experience at Jay Repair was inadequate and unprofessional in several key areas. While the conversation began respectfully, the service itself fell short of reasonable expectations. I had to wait over an hour to have my screen replaced a second time because the first display installed was not designed for the iPhone 14 Pro. It was a screen intended for the iPhone 14, not the Pro model. This mistake should not happen at a repair shop, especially when model-specific hardware differences are well documented. This exact issue happened to me previously with an iPhone 11 Pro in 2023, and unfortunately, it has now happened again. For clarity: There is only one correct display type for iPhone Pro and Pro Max models--the Super Retina XDR display. There is no legitimate "lower HD" version for Pro models. Apple does not promote or support such distinctions on their website. Anyone familiar with Apple technology understands that software and hardware are tightly integrated, and Apple updates each device specifically. That's why repair shops must provide accurate, up-to-date information about replacement screens--especially for newer models like the iPhone 14 Pro, 15 Pro, and 16 Pro, which require Super Retina XDR displays exclusively. As a certified technician myself and a long-term Apple user since the iPhone 3GS, I am well aware of how Apple operates. Despite the inconvenience, delay, and incorrect installation, I was still charged full price, when a price adjustment would have been appropriate--at minimum as compensation for the error and time lost. This is why I'm deducting two stars. I also made the technician aware of excessive heat generation after the screen installation, which is a serious concern. While the shop policy states that a 15-minute repair is not guaranteed, I had already waited far beyond that and should not have been charged again under these circumstances. To be fair, the technician remained calm and mindful, which is why this review stands at 2.5 stars rather than lower. I had also called 20-25 minutes in advance to let the shop know I was on my way, yet the correct display was not available in-store, causing an additional 49-minute delay. I documented this on video as well. I don't want to discredit you as a person, but the service itself reflects a lack of up-to-date technical understanding, which is concerning for a repair shop owner. Technology evolves constantly, and repair practices must evolve with it. We all learn every day--but staying current is essential in this line of work.
