Enjoyed our first trip with Panda so much that we booked a shopping trip to Tokyo. Our guide was Patrick and he was so wonderful! He answered all our questions, helped us get to places we wanted to go in our free time and he was always so patient and kind! The shopping tour was a shoppers dream in speeded up motion! Panda Travel on Kapahulu Ave has been there for as long as I can remember. They have their own private lot which is nice. I never needed their services before but recently I needed to get a new 10 year Visa to China since mine expired and we were unable to get it in Hong Kong during a previous trip. Even though China doesn't require a Visa at the moment for short duration trips there, my dad insisted I get it to make going in and out of China easier. I didn't want to argue with my dad so I just did as he asked. I called around and pretty much everyone was about the same price to get the Visa but Chuck was able to see me the same day I inquired. Other places wouldn't be able to see me till the following week. I wasn't in a huge rush but getting it done sooner than later is always best. After I found all the required documents he requested, I messaged him and we met 30-45 minutes later at Panda Travel. I filled out a quick questionnaire, took a photo and answered a few questions he had. He told me it'll take about 4-6 weeks and will contact me once he has my Passports back. Fast forward and it was less than a month later when I got a call from Chuck telling me that they have my Passports back. He said I could pick them up anytime. I told him I could pick it up the following day and he gave me pick up instructions. They were extremely quick and provided excellent customer service throughout the whole process. The staff there all seem to be Chinese and are multilingual. Travel agents are a dying profession with technology but for those who still use travel agents, Panda Travel is a place to check out. Worse customer service experience ever. I asked a friend to help me leave this review due to my lack of computer skills. I asked Panda Travel to book an outer island flight for me. In the purchase process they asked for my email address. I explained that I do not know how to use email or a computer. They breezed past that and moved on with the process. After the order was placed and paid for is when my troubles began. I went to the airport on my scheduled date and waited in line to get my ticket. The line was very long and progress was slow. So slow infact that I missed my flight.... That was frustrating. I contacted Panda and was told it was my fault. The mentioned "check in" and kiosk at the airport. I am 76 years old and so not know how to do any thing involving computers. They insist that it was my fault even after I told them I do not have an email or know how to use a computer. They provided no further guidance or information involving the process. If I knew in advance I would have rethought my options and changed my plans. Service was good up the point they got my money and after that I was on my own. To write this review I had to ask for assistance. Panda Travel is so Amazing , Awesome and well planned out!! The weather was perfect. It was our first visit to Japan. Panda took care of us from beginning to end. Our trip was from 11/6-11/13/2024. Met us at the airport, bus transportation to 4 different first class hotels, all having its own charm and character. Buffet breakfast each morning, and giving us directions and advice for best shopping and meals. Temples, shrines, museums, hiking to see monkeys and deer roaming freely and feeding them. Excursions to paint a Japanese fan and also paint some nigiri sushi was fun. Also rode the bullet train which we enjoyed a lot. Shop, shop, shop. Eat, eat, eat, beer, beer, beer. BIG Shoutout to Daisy Komeiji from Panda Travels. Can't say enough good things about her. She went above and beyond the call of duty, making sure everything was perfect. Our first cherry blossom tour to Japan with Panda Travel was an incredible experience from start to finish. Daisy took amazing care of us the entire time from boarding to having the best views during breakfast, as well as showing us to great shopping spots. This tour was initially sold out and we got lucky. The price of this tour was worth every penny. The itinerary was on point with a variety of tasty food, endless shopping, and cultural exposure. We were 38 in our group. Everything was so well organized, everywhere we visited went smoothly, and everyone was taken care of from beginning to end. An example, is taking people to exchange currency to assisting with tax refunds at the airport. From keiki to kupuna, no one was left behind. LOL Everyday our HI guide Ms. Daisy and local guide Ms. Jin briefed the events and meals. If it was a shopping activity, they would identify the popular stores to visit, items, or tasty snacks to buy. Next, they would query and separate the group by interest. I just loved it! Then, off we went....so much fun and so grateful for Daisy and Jin suggestions. They definitely know all the hot spots for deals and applied their top notch negotiating skills. That is what I call personal services and a lot of ppl took advantage of it. Daisy and Jin is my version of Yin and Yang who truly complement each other. They are comical in every way, treated everyone with respect, and made the environment enjoyable. They went above and beyond for all of us. Shopping tour in Seoul, Korea... I read Christine L.'s review about this 4-night trip and it sounded like fun! The length of time is just right because there's only so much shopping that a person can do...lol! Our tour leader was Daisy. She's very organized and has great communication. I called her for more information and went to her office (on Kapahulu Avenue) to turn in my completed application and deposit. Daisy emailed us when our packets were ready to be picked up. She gave us helpful information about what to pack, how much to tip, etc. We flew to Korea via Hawaiian Airlines. It was quite eventful when after 2 hours in the air, the plane turned around and we returned to Honolulu for safety reasons. Daisy remained calm and gave us our options - such as - extending our stay in Korea for free - we just had to pay for the 3 extra nights at the hotel. We had a breakfast buffet every morning at Sejong Hotel and Daisy would go to every table check up with each person. She's so personable and listens to what the group wants. For example, some of the gals wanted to buy purses and wallets. Daisy helped negotiate for better prices when she could . I highly recommend Daisy's Shopping Tour in Korea. (We also visited a Folk Village, Seoul Tower, and a palace). Our hotel was located in the middle of several shopping areas. Popular purchases were bankets, utensils, socks, and souvenirs like coin purses, pens, and flavored almonds. We had free time to walk wherever and whenever we chose. There was a Daiso, Uniqlo, and LINE FRIENDS Store nearby. Daisy took us to the best money exchange place and gave us great suggestions for restaurants! I haven't been able to book any thing with this company as of yet. So my review will be neutral because of my experience. The moment I got our passports in the mail I had so many ideas and plans of where we'd be traveling! I don't care how or when, but I was going to make it happen. Especially since the children's passports are only good for 5 years and my children's ages are tricky for making good use of them. When returning from our family trip out of the country last year, my gears were already turning trying to figure out a trip across certain parts of Asia. A trip to experience the cultures of our heritage, if you will. As I spoke to clients in trying to gather info, a couple of them mentioned they had booked with Panda previously and it was a no fuss experience for them. Beginning 2020 we found out we were supposed to be traveling to Texas with the DOE and I was crushed. It was bittersweet. A great experience for my baby and her team mates to showcase their talents for Hawaii. But then it would also take away from another, international family vacation... The school originally set up plans with another travel agency, but for whatever reason switched. February 2020 I was notified that we were making travel arrangements through Panda Travel so I gave them a call. Everything was pre-pandemic, so my experience might have been a blessing in disguise. When I called, the receptionist had no idea of what school travel plans I was talking about and would have someone call me back. I never got a call back. Fast forward to a week before spring break. It was announced the DOE was suspending all related trips. Another family that had already paid for their arrangements were going to have to clear that up some how during everything that we were about to go through. School closures, unemployment & quarantine/stay at home orders... I'm glad I dodged that bullet. I have no idea why I never got a call back but that's normally how my luck goes. This time it worked out for the best! Moving forward, with the way this little situation for me was handled... I probably wouldn't keep them at the top of the list for travel arrangements in the future. I'm too much of a control freak to let someone else plan things for me anyways. read more

Can you tell me which agent helped you? I am so confused how this travel agency has received so many stars and good reviews. First off, I called several times with no answer. After several attempts, the receptionist picked up and informed me that all the agents are busy and that I will be receiving a call back as soon as one is available. I never received a call back. I emailed them to kindly ask if I can get in touch with someone who can help assist me with travel since I was unsuccessful with reaching an agent by phone. I did receive a reply from the Director in Business Support who asked me to send over my info so she can look into it, which I did. 4 days passed and I never received a reply. I emailed again to follow up, and received a prompt response that said she will look into it and get back to me later in the day. Almost one week has passed. Still no reply. I understand as pandemic restrictions are lifted businesses will pick up such especially a travel agency. But the unprofessionalism and procrastination to leave customers hanging and waiting is unacceptable and inappropriate. They simple do not have the courtesy to reply in a prompt and timely manner. Panda Travel is unable to provide the customer service or support that a travel agency should. Unfortunately, I feel compelled to write this review because I honestly don't think this company is reputable in providing 4 star service. I just got back from my second Shopping and Foodie tour in Korea with Panda. These mini shopping tours are offered only a couple of times a year, and I plan on attending every single one! The pricing is soooo worth it as direct airfare, all airport taxes, hotel, transportation and daily breakfast buffet are included. The shopping, food and sightseeing are phenomenal. A bunch of the girls on our tour even went for $18, hour massages daily. It can't get better than that! SHOPPING and FOOD... We've used Panda for all our group cruises and everything went well. Corinne Norfleet was our agent and everything was perfect. She planned our transportation, pre and post cruise accommodations, and post land tours. When you travel to foreign countries and don't know the area it's hard to find good hotels. We loved the hotels she booked for us. She always responded to our calls and emails and always got back to us with the information. She's so friendly and caring she's become like family. I gave a four star rating instead of five star only because when I called for Corinne to book our next group cruise for 30 people I was told she no longer works there. Due to COVID she was let go and they haven't brought her back. So sad. But if she's hired by another travel agency we'll follow her. Not interested in going with another agent at Panda. As someone else mentioned, when you walk into Panda you're not always greeted, I guess it depends on their mood. I went on the Fall Foliage tour to Niigata and Sado Island for my very first trip to Japan. The Panda representatives were very helpful from the beginning answering questions via email in a timely manner and helping with technology issues when paying online. They were also able to make accommodations for food requests for the trip! The Panda guide who met us at the airport (Ken) and the Japanese guide who met us at the Japan airport (Motoko) we're both very friendly and knowledgeable with great tips and information. It was also so great not to have to worry about the travel between places like on the train and bus as well as shipping our suitcases ahead and storing them. I really enjoyed all the places we went to like the Northern Culture Museum and the Tarai Bune and the experiences we had such as the daruma face painting and yumomi. All the accommodations were excellent as well. There were many meals provided for us as many of the places we went to were more in the country, but there were enough "free" meal times that we were able to try out some places on our own. There were also great guided shopping stops like the Tsukiji Outer Fish Market and Ameyoko where the guides brought us to specific stalls that they knew of. Panda Travel is an oldie but goodie that I hadn't patronized in over 25 years before we went there in June to pick up JR Rail passes for our trip to Japan. I realized that there are other places to get JR passes, but frankly, our experience at a popular not-to-be-named Japanese travel agency made us feel like they really did not want our business, so we went with Panda. You can also get JR Rail passes online, but I am just more comfortable with the in-person experience. First off, Panda is located upstairs in a little complex with many other offices. I didn't look for an elevator, so you may need to call ahead to inquire if you are unable to use stairs. Parking is free and easy (we went on Saturday), and they're open on Saturday, which is also a plus. We have now been to pick up JR passes twice--in July and in September--and both times we went, the office was very quiet. We were the only customers in July, and I think there may have been 2 other customers when we last went. We did not have to wait at all for someone to help us. The process to get the rail passes is not very hard, but it does take a little time, and you need to bring your passport. The agents will enter your information and have you check it all after printout. They will accept payment and neatly organize the vouchers and receipt so that it's easy to exchange for the actual passes when you get to Japan. This last visit, I worried if my credit card company might flag my rail pass purchases as possibly fraudulent (they're really good at monitoring for my security) since it was my 2nd purchase of rail passes in just a few months, a sizeable amount and of course for elsewhere. It wasn't an issue at all, perhaps because the transaction was done locally. (Sort of unrelated tip: if you're going to make an online purchase to an overseas company, it's a good idea to alert your credit card company so they don't suspect fraud and decline it.) We typically book most of our travel on our own, usually online, but if I need a travel agent for whatever reason, I will go back to Panda Travel. read more

I do most of my travel bookings through the major travel websites online. I am not much for going to a travel agency because I am not sure if there is a cost savings going that route. However, Panda Travel is the exception to that rule. I have booked a few times through Panda's online website. It is not always the cheapest option, but I have found on a few occasions where Panda has beat the major sites by a little or in a few cases quite a good deal. Granted, I would only suggest using Panda if your travels are related to going to and from Hawaii. If not, stick with the major sites as their pricing is better. But sometimes you can come across a good deal on Hawaii related offerings. I found a great price on Panda's site for my parents flight to LA this month that was $200 less (each ticket!) than what I saw when searching on Kayak. Flights to and from Hawaii are generally quite expensive in the summer, so I was fortunate to come across this bargain. The only pain with ordering through the Panda website is that you can not select your seats using their system. Though my dad was able to head to the Kapahulu Avenue location to get seating assigned for the trip. Also if you are doing an interisland trip in Hawaii and need a hotel as well, it is also worth checking Panda to see if there is some cost savings compared with booking elsewhere. It is not always the best option, but it definitely is worth checking with Panda to see if they have any good Hawaii related deals as you might unexpectedly find a bargain through them. read more

This agency has the rudest people working for them. I walked in and no one greeted me. One person did look up so I asked if they had any ongoing promotions. She goes, "What, the Philippines?" Ignoring her racial profiling, I tell her no, I'm looking for travel deals that they may have, like to Japan. She curtly answers that it depends on when the travel is. I tell her during fall break and give her the dates. She then says, well it depends on when you are going. I just told her when, but I guess she wasnt listening. She barely even looked at me. At that point, I knew it was time to go as she obviously had no intentions of helping me. It felt like I was bothering her by asking her to do her job. Had a fantastic trip to Korea on the Summer Break tour. I was skeptical because of the very reasonable price, but it was really fun. We stayed in Myeongdong in the heart of the shopping area, then spent two nights in Busan, plus a side trip to Gyeongju (the "Kyoto of Korea"). Our tour guide, Joy, was great, and Daisy the tour escort was very helpful and kind. There was enough free time so we could pursue our own interests: Cheonggyecheon Stream, N Seoul Tower ropeway, the DDP. Or if you just want to check out all the K-beauty shops in Myeongdong, you can! DO NOT USE PANDA TRAVEL - THEY TRY RIP YOU OFF! I was corresponding back and worth with Debbie from Panda regarding an upcoming trip to Japan. Since this is my first time visiting Japan, I wanted to inquire with a travel agency. She was very friendly and helpful in the beginning; however, she did give me some information that wasn't completely accurate. After corresponding with her for a couple of weeks, I found out that my father had miles that I could use. She did give me a lot of information regarding flights which were somewhat helpful (although I kept seeing different information online than what she gave me). In the end, I thought it was easier for me to book myself since I would be using some of my father's miles. After booking my flights, I informed her that my flights were finally confirmed, and that I was ready to go ahead and book the hotels. She replied saying, "Panda will be assessing $75 per person non-refundable fee for any further research. We accept all major credit cards." Was she kidding?! Don't these travel agencies make a commission from the hotel?! Perhaps she thought I was stupid and I would pay this... Sorry! I'm not stupid and I know better than to pay you a "research" fee. I emailed her back asking her if she was "assessing" a fee because I didn't book the flights through her. I also told her that, as the customer, I believe I should be able to go with whatever price is best for me. Of course she did not reply - I'm not surprised. I will be telling all my friends not to use Panda. My friend was actually going to book a cruise through them but after hearing my story, she will not be using them. We booked a trip last year to go to my wife's home country in Asia and also Japan. I spent a considerable amount of time looking through online websites, and thought I had found a great deal, but when I called Panda travel Kelly almost immediately found a much better deal. A couple months after we reserved it we found out we were pregnant and my wife and I were forced to cancel our trip. It was a little bit of a process involved in getting our money back, but Kelly was there for us every step of the way and we got almost a full refund! Pregnancy is absolutely not a covered reason for getting money back on travel tickets, but because we went through an agent it worked out well for us. Our group of 22 toured one week in Korea (Seoul, Sokcho, and Busan) The trip was tailored to our desired destinations. Kim worked closely with us to design the tour. I am a self-proclaimed travel-savvy guru. If it were possible, my full time job would be to vacation for a living because I am an expert at it. So its safe to say that I don't typically buy from travel agencies because I can usually put a vacation together cheaper on my own. And then I stumbled on an ad for a 9-day Disney-Vegas combo for just $800 pp. Ridiculous! It was during the BUSY fall break in October AND the weekend of the UH-UNLV football game in Vegas. No doubt, if I tried to even find a hotel in Vegas, it would have been difficult and costly. Panda gave us a hotel and meal coupons! Paid a small deposit online and then the full balance about 45 days prior to travel. They sent me my itinerary via email and then one month before travel, a packet came in the mail with detailed info. The one drawback was that I wasn't able to web check in online using the Hawaiian Air website. This mean, no seat changes, no premium seat options and we had to be at the airport a little earlier to check in physically. Panda says 2 hours. Aside from that, our accommodations were exactly as stated and no hiccups that Panda could control. Our hotel at Disneyland was perfect, our Luxbus transfer was great, and we stayed at Main Street in Vegas which sucked but that wasn't Panda's fault. Using Panda's saved me a lot of time searching for great deals and instead I was able to focus that time on finding great activities for our kids to do while we were traveling. Thank you Panda Travel for a great Colors of Seoul and Busan tour. The Autumn colors were not quite out yet in early August and a heavy first day of rain was unexpected, but not their fault. It was though a wonderful cultural experience through their partnership with Rye Tours. Our Korean tour guide Jin was extremely knowledgeable in Korean history and her English was very good. It was our Panda escort though that really made the trip stand out. Thank you so much Daisy for going out of your way to make the trip enjoyable for all of us. It seemed like her only goal was to make sure we were having a good time, from always staying back with the slow pokes, grabbing the bags from the bottom the bus in the rain, buying breakfast from outside when she felt the hotel breakfast wasn't up to par, to arguing with hotel staff to try to keep our two families' rooms on the same floor. we've had good service from Presca in booking our last three trips to Japan here. I learned about Panda from my pal Ken always goes here first for trips between Honolulu and Tokyo. We usually try to book the JAL "Trendy Pack" deal that included round trip airfare plus accommodations in a the Park Hotel Tokyo in Shiodome -- the hotel is really nice and new, and the package only costs slightly more than the cost of the airfare by itself. read more

I have booked packages and airfare with Panda for a couple of years now. I usually use Kayak to find good deals as well as Priceline and Hotwire. For airfare I often use Kayak to look for a la carte car rental and airfare. Often Costco is the cheapest for car rental or one of the car rental places listed with that search engine Hawaiian budget car rental (there's a few similar websites). On occasion, Panda was cheaper. Today I was sad that Delta had a roundtrip flight from LAX to LIH in July for $1133.03. I played around Panda and I was SHOCKED to see the same flight (route and dates) listed for $438.03. Yep, that much cheaper!! I instantly booked. I later realized I should have checked to see how much a package would have been with a car (I already planned on getting a condo so I didn't need a hotel). Their website doesn't seem to allow straight out rental car searches (you can call though). That's why -1 star. In any case I called up and spoke to a male operator (completely forget his name but this was around 4PM Pacific time on April 3. He was finding a car for me. I stated that it was cheaper as a package. He gave me the package price =D They have a few rent a wreck places in Kauai for $25 a day. By renting through Panda, I am getting a clean, newer car (I have rented from a rent a wreck before with a broken CD player, and heard some mixed stories regarding the cleanliness and maintenance on some... I don't want to spend part of my vacation on the side of the road to save a few bucks) for $6 TOTAL for my stay. Not $6 extra a day, but $6 TOTAL. I will go wherever I get good deals, but the customer service on Panda for me has been great and once in awhile I have gotten better deals than booking direct. People on Tripadvisor are shocked I got that flight that cheap for July =D read more

Made online reservation with Hawaiian Airlines for Air, Room & Car. Called the Hotel a week before our arrival date & was told that we only had 1 room booked (even though I booked & paid for 2 rooms). Called Airlines, was told to call Panda. "DANA" answered my call. And thank God I got him on the phone! He was SO helpful & kind & sweet. He listened to my concerns, put me on hold & called the Hotel. Only on hold for like 2 minutes. Dana assured me that the Hotel did infact have my reservation for both rooms & also put me on hold again to confirm with the hotel the bedding arrangements that we would prefer. Dana is awesome! He did a fine job from the minute he answered the phone. I wish I could clone him. Ask for DANA if you have any issues. read more

I had such a negative experience I took my business else where - all $5K of it. I called in the early morning only to get some information. The person who answered the phone (Ronald) was VERY rude and abrupt. Then I believe he intentionally hung up on me! I tried calling back and encountered what I believed were several "disconnects"; however, I realized he was picking up and hanging up on me!!! What finally led me to realize this was when I answered the last time, I actually heard him giggling as he picked up the line and listened to me ask "Hello? Is anyone there?" He was quiet at first and then I heard his breathing before he hung up again! I will NEVER do business with a company who employs such disrespectful workers. Just returned from my first trip to Japan. I wanted to use a travel agent to book a tour as I thought it would give me a better opportunity to see and do more than I would be able to do on my own. Panda did not disappoint! Ever part of their service went above and beyond my expectations. I saw parts of Japan that I would never have seen on my own. Socializing with the fellow travelers was an awesome part of the journey as well as all seem excited to be on the tour as well. In fact many of them had taken multiple trips with Panda before and enjoyed it so much so they keep returning. The tour guides John and Akiko ( Japan agent , ) accompanied us on ever part of the journey assuring we were always well taken care of. The only issue that came up was that I wished we could stay longer at certain places but by keeping on schedule we were able to see so much more.
